Sheesh Maidenhead in Windsor and Maidenhead

Oh Dear I had some hi expectations and to be fair I didn’t take enough pictures as it was only after we had started the food that it was apparent that this was not a great place to eat. £23 mixed kebab - 3 pieces of chicken and 3 pieces of lamb … seriously ? Chips - Arrived 5 mins after the mains and were not cooked... semi raw. Clearly not cooked at the same time Starters - the didn’t have half the items when we were ordering..... which was a shame . Starters were nice - the bullet chillis are not for the faint hearted !! Won’t be back though . Not good value at all . And the toilets ?? Oh dear , nuff said

It is closed. It doesn’t exist. The shop is empty. There is no sign. It has ceased to be. IT IS AN EX-Restaurant… IT ONLY EXISTS ON THE INTERNET. The phone number doesn’t work BECAUSE IT HAS GONE.

Chips were not cooked properly, robs were mice and chops were too, but a bit small. The bread was delicious

I strongly suspect that even if we had stayed then we'd still be waiting for our food over 48 hours later. We had a table booked for 6 of us for 7pm. One of our number couldn't make it and the other was held up in traffic for half an hour, so four of us arrived at the restaurant at 7. The staff tried to usher us to a table of four but we explained that another one was inbound so we were pointed in the direction of the far table right at the back of the restaurant and were promptly forgotten about for around 20 mins. We eventually manage to get an order in for some drinks and some bread which were thrown down on our table as the waitress raced away before we could say another word. In fairness to the waitress I think she was the only person that seemed to be serving at this near full restaurant which was a tad optimistic of the owners, especially when it transpired that her grasp of English was tenuous to say the least. Our final party member arrived around 7:40pm but fortunately had not missed anything as we'd only really been able to admire our menus for this 40 minute period rather than order anything. Once the final member arrived the 5 of us ordered our mains along with some more drinks because let's face it we'd finished our other drinks long ago. We soon discovered that the concept of waiting we'd experienced before was just the appetiser and the real wait had only just begun. For the next hour we waited for 5 meals to arrive at our table. The drinks eventually arrived (most of them anyway) but there appeared to be no danger of us being fed considering we had been in this restaurant for 100 minutes by now. I think the real kicker was that at this point, someone that we presumed to be the owner came by with a notepad and was quite clearly about to take our order an hour after we'd placed it but was stopped in his tracks by us asking for the remainder of the drinks that we'd already ordered that had never arrived. At this one point one of our party looked into the kitchen area and noticed that none of the grills even appeared to be in use which was worrying considering 2 mixed grills and 2 shish grills were part of our order. Eventually after nearly 2 hours the other meal arrived (without the rice that was advertised on the menu as coming with every meal) and we enquired as to the state of our four remaining meals ordered over an hour ago. We were told that they only had orders for 3 meals for our table, at which point we decided we'd had enough. We asked for the bill and paid for the drinks/bread and half of a meal that we'd been given and wandered 300 yards down the road to a fast food place that gave us our food within the space of 10 minutes. Now if you're still here reading this review after such a long time, think about this... you could read this review in its entirety over a hundred times and it still wouldn't come close to covering the amount of time we spent in Sheesh waiting for food that never arrived.

We've been to the restaurant. It was great the first time and just good the next time. The last couple of times we've had food delivered. Both times the bread with the mezze was burnt and stale. Both times at least one rice portion was missing. This time I had the mixed grill and the portion was mediocre - I wish I had taken a photo of the absolute joke this was. The prawns were extremely salty. The mixed mezze is very good. One bad order can be a one-off but two in a row means we wouldn't recommend Sheesh anymore.

We had a quick dinner by going straight to main meal on Sunday evening. Atmosphere was ok. Pita was provided with 4 different dips tasted great while we waited for our main. sheesh family special were served piping hot and tasted good but was little dissatisfied with white rice and salad came with it. Plus we felt we weren’t provided the whole dish as said on menu. We felt Customer service could be improved Too. We always love Mediterranean food and dined at many grill places with better experiences. Overall ok experience for the amount we paid nearly £100.

Amazing restaurant with gorgeous meals with brilliant and professional service. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the meze slices with a choice of 3 dips including a chili one followed by lamb kebabs which was a shared platter of lamb chops, chicken and koftas at lunchtime today. I was using my wheelchair and I cannot thank the very helpful waiter enough for his kind assistance.

Atmosphere is what you make it. The food gave me an upset stomach (if you know what I mean). The service was pretty grumpy.

Ordered a takeaway sheesh special for 2 and a portion of chips. We collected the food 20 min after ordering and only live a few minutes away, when we got in the food was cold proving they did not cook it fresh. All of the meat was dry and chewey, the lamb ribs has a strand of meat on it and to top it off stale chips. For the amount they charge (over £50) it is unbelievable that they think it's OK to serve food like this??? AVOID!!

Paid a visit with friends and had an amazing meal. We ordered a large mezze platter and a family platter which was sufficient for 8 of us to share as a light meal, maybe for some hungry appetites it would go round 4 or 5. Food was all amazingly cooked with perfect tenderness and flavoured brilliantly! Could not fault it one bit, I could eat it every night of the week! Very reasonable prices and great service! I would highly recommend!

Went here for a work lunch with some colleagues on a Monday afternoon. It was just us who arrived as soon as it opened at 1pm. I was delighted to hear the waitress, maybe the owner too, speaking Turkish to someone as we entered. I’ve been to a few Turkish restaurants in my area and none of the staff are Turkish, a shame when there are a lot of Turks in the UK and they are so excellent at hospitality. She had a lovely conversation with us about Turkey. I ordered the passion fruit juice which was delicious and a lamb beyti kebab. I was delighted to see beyti on the menu as sometimes it’s even hard to find in Turkey (in the area I go to anyway). 10/10, would really recommend it! Best Turkish food I’ve had in the UK so far. Also happy to see you get Turkish rice with your meals as standard rather than bulgar wheat, which a lot of the other Turkish restaurants near me do. Absolutely excellent portion sizes and to start we were given free warm bread and mezzes, just like they do in Turkey when you go to a proper kebab place. The bread was fantastic, 10/10, so tasty. Must try if you are in or near Maidenhead!

Went for dinner with a group of 7 last week on a Thursday. Think we were the only patrons there for majority of the time. Food came pretty swiftly and went down pretty well with the group. All food completed with no leftover and starters bread was lovely. I live in Essex and the price here was comparable with our local restaurants.

When we arrived we asked where we shall sit and it seemed liked it was surprising that we asked and not just sat down. Staff was nice and friendly orherwise. Service was okay, however found it slow according it was not their busiest time clearly. Food, well... I have eaten in other turkish restaurants before and I don't feel I got the same experience of taste and serving. The spice on the bread was too salty and rather make full taste with the served sauce, it altered it negatively in my opinion. The amount of the meat seemed less then in other restaurants, the taste again was not fulfilling. The rice was very dry, almost chewy. The salad came already with all sauces on rather allow us individually put on according our taste. This I think would be something they could implement ongoing. Overall the food was not bad, just nothing like I experienced before.

Full disclosure, I don't complain about restaurants, nor am I a confrontational person. So when I tell you this is one of the worst experiences I've had ordering out, I'm not mincing my words here. I ordered a mixed grill and king prawn dish, to find the mixed grill box 2/3rds empty. Now on the Just Eat app it only tells you what kind of meat is included, nothing about quantities. But when it says "chops" you can reasonably assume that doesn't mean ONE lamb chop. When it says "wings" you can safely assume that doesn't mean ONE chicken wing. They charged £25 for this. When I rang the restaurant the guy on the phone was rude and hostile the entire time, telling me this was just for one person (in which case why not be fully transparent about quantities on the app?). For this amount any Turkish restaurant in London would give you a full platter. They refused to give my refund, kept harassing me about where I'm from, and hung up on me when I said I'll mention all this in my review. This place is a joke. Misleading, unhelpful, zero accountability.

Rustic modern interior and really glittery as was our lovely very pleasant hostess. Very attentive of us. Ordered Lamb Shish and the meat was lovely and soft and just had great flavour. The Turkish bread we devoured and was so good and not so greasy. The advertise home made chips, and yes they are. Everything was well cooked Just cannot complain everything from drinks to food Thanks Sheesh for making our meal so pleasant

A group of us went here quite a few years ago-on one of the last few days before Covid lockdowns. We had a lovely time; friendly staff, good atmosphere and great food at decent prices. However, this time it seemed very different. Perhaps new management. Either way, something had changed. The moment we arrived we noticed the atmosphere-or lack there of. Perhaps it was due to the fact that it was a weekday. ( Wednesday). There was only one other table. Nevertheless, the way the two members of staff treated us initially did not bode well. It was like we, as customers ,were an inconvenience to them. At times the staff members looked at us blankly when we politely asked for things, not even acknowledging us. Other times, just staring at us, creating an unfriendly atmosphere. As for the actual food-“fine”, might best describe it. Well, my friend described the chicken as overcooked and dry! As for myself, “overcooked and dry”, also might best describe the falafels. Also, quite pricey and the servings were not generous. The best part of the meal may have been the bread! It is not somewhere I’d recommend; mostly due to the frosty atmosphere the staff create and the overpriced and average food. A real shame.

Really disappointed with the service today. The kitchen clearly forgot our order, when I asked where the food was (50 mins after ordering) the waiter said it was coming. The food indeed was NOT coming. The waiter then went into the kitchen and we could see the kitchen spring to life and start cooking our food. We were on a deadline so then had to ask for the food “to go”. The waiter asked me why we had to change, I told him we had to go because lunch was taking too long. We got home to find that one of the sides was not made but they still charged us the £5 for it! Total bill was £57. There were only two other tables being occupied when we walked in and they both had their meals delivered promptly. The kitchen dropped the ball, the waiter tried to cover it up, they then charged us for food they didn’t give us. Overall a very frustrating experience.

It was cold! Food was very good but the whole restaurant was very cold. Did I mention that the place was cold? I didn't take off my winter jacket the whole time.

This place should be busier given the quality of the food and service. Big portions, succulent meat and great flavours. Will definitely be visiting again.

After reserving a table the host tried to stay us at the back of the restaurant next to the toilets where surprisingly there was no atmosphere, when we decided to go suddenly the other tables which they said were reserved were actually available...we wished we left at this point looking back. They still haven't fixed the door which doesn't shut properly, letting in the cold unless pushed shut. Food was great which was the one redeeming factor, but we had asked for three mezes which never appeared...

1☆ over rates this place for tonight's experience. I won't go into all the details as there were so many issues. If you have allergies be very wary. I told the manager mine, but the kitchen staff change and "don't understand ". All very well being sorry, but they still served me something which could have made me very ill, and just taking it off the plate isn't enough to make it safe. That said my companions food was ok. If you plan to visit this restaurant during winter months, expect to need to wear a coat indoors. The place is incredibly cold and draughty. Our party of 5 had a table booked for 6.30pm, and we were still there 3 hours later, not through choice. Hell will freeze over before I eat there again.

So disappointed with the restaurant tonight. Absolutely freezing. Arrived for a 6.30 booking. Advised restaurant of severe allegies still waiting for mains at 8.30pm. Food arrived cold and allergies not accounted for. Felt sorry for waitress who clearly was too ill to be at work. Chef was seen on the phone while in the kitchen. Language barrier though food was tasty when we finally got it.

Hidden gem. Just popped into Maidenhead town and noticed this place. Fine food, great decor and great staff. Great for family. Will definitely be going back soon.

Ive eaten here numerous times now, always a great atmosphere and service from the staff. Juicy chicken and lamb cubes cooked to perfection. Asparagus and mushrooms were amazing. Not for Vegans

Wow, is what I would use for this place. I have been to many similar restaurants but not come out as satisfied as I was when leaving Sheesh. The starters we had were amazing and the bread they served with it was great. I would just go for the bread!!! On to the mains, we got a mixed platter/grill for 2 of us and that was more than enough. The meats were so tender that it was melting of the bone. Everything was cooked to perfection and with it being cooked on coal it gave it an extra special taste. I loved it and would definitely recommend you try it if you are the area. 5 stars all the way!!!

Wow, that was awesome. I am no Turkish cuisine expert, but the food here was delicious. A few new flavors that we had not had before, but it was all very well prepared. My wife is not the most adventurous of eaters, but she really liked the cold meze, and the shish. The spicy jelly with the chicken sheesh and the lamb sheesh with the tiziki sauce was just perfect. We will be back.

Good place with decent food. Something different for the taste buds with some great sish kebabs. I liked the chicken ala creame as well. Staff is friendly and professional. Pricing is apt. Seating and ambience is also nice. Has outdoor seating as well for summers. Over all highly recommended for Turkish cuisine !!!

Great food. Bad service: our waiter was unfriendly and did not help us figure out what one of the sauces was. Also, we had asked for a "sheesh family special". We were brought 3 platers of mixed grilled meat and 2 bowls of bread and 2x4 sauces/olives. When we asked for the bill we were charged for TWO sheesh family special instead of 1 and had to pay double of what we were expecting. Very disapointing. Although we enjoyed the food and venue, we will not be recommending or returning.

I love the food in Sheesh, and the service is great. The four stars rather than five is because having spent over £90 for three people eating on a very quiet evening, (we were one of only three tables in use on a Wednesday evening) when we asked to take the leftovers home we were provided with foil dishes to do it ourselves. It may seem a trifle petty and if they’d been really busy I probably would have just accepted it, but they were extremely quiet so it ended our meal on a slightly sour note when we’d had a very enjoyable meal.

Incredible food! Full of flavour and texture, and presentation was immaculate. Service was great and the staff were helpful and fun. Background music was nice and at a good volume. Super clean and tidy as well. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience there, and would highly recommend to others.

Good food but service is absolutely shocking, it took them over 40 minutes to serve our mains after our starters. The restaurant was barely half full and they were clearly prioritizing takeaway orders. Waiters were also clueless and showed 0 hospitality. A shame as the food was decent.

One of the best turkish I ever tried. The food is delicious and the staff is polite, welcomig very nice all the time. The olives yhey provide there are my favorites. I ask him for a jar of olives brought from Turkey and he took out one for me. Awesome place. Higly recommended

Three lamb Shish kebabs for £18 each. 6 pieces of lamb, side salad, bread and plain boiled rice. Rip off!!! I would have been happier with a lamb shish from Kebab Elite, the kebab shop around the corner. Nice place but miserable inexperienced staff and random people who worked there carrying bins and random kitchen stuff through the restaurant. The food was a big disappointment. Bland and tough and not worth it. Our £18 kebabs I would pay £8. I hope the other menu items are more impressive.

Really good Turkish food. Very much worth a visit .

Generally food is really good and all previous takeaways/ deliveries have all be fine. However in the past the when I’ve collected food the restaurant has been empty, however today I went to collect and they hadn’t even started preparing the food at the time they said it would be ready. The restaurant was busier, but certainly not full. It appears they can cope if they are empty with no other customers, but a few people in the restaurant and service becomes very poor and slow. Based on tonight, I would not recommend. Food was fine (although bread not to usual standard) when we finally got it.

OMG, this is the nicest food ever. We ordered the Sheesh special for 2 (takeaway) and it was absolutely delicious. The meat is amazing, cooked and flavoured perfectly and there was plenty of it. Even the rice, salads, hummus and bread were some of the nicest I've had. We will definitely be ordering again. Wow.

The food here is a little expensive for what it is, but it is very tasty and makes a nice change from the usual Pizza, pasta and curry. The friendly accommodating staff and relaxed atmosphere definitely enhance the experience here. A worthy inclusion in Maidenhead's High Street.

This cost me £23.50, absolute joke, no sauces, this is going to be one dry meal - not happy at all. The second picture for an extra £5 that’s what you get 🤔. We were on our way to the restaurant from a fantastic works day out in Oxford. When a call came in from Sheet sorry Sheesh, with a pathetic excuse of an apology,cancelling our table because a bigger party booked for later that evening had started...

Had a table of 12 booked as part of a leaving do for a work colleague. The restaurant called us 60 minutes before to say that a larger table of 60 people (booked in for two hours after our start time) had already started to arrive (3 hours early). Absolutely disgraceful and a real frustration on the day, especially as half of our group had already started their journey down from Oxford. We managed to get a table elsewhere, but were super fortunate, especially as it was Bank Holiday weekend.

Easily booked a table online. Arrived early but table was ready and waiting. Very clean and well presented restaurant. Food presentation and quality was first class. Drinks were a tad expensive. A very nice couples night out while staying at a local hotel. When paying was told card machine not working. Not certain if that was true. Had to go out on a strange Hgh St to find an ATM as the one a few doors away was out of order. What would have happened if we only had a credit card on us. Would deffinately return as food so good and have a pocket full of notes in anticipation.

Wasn’t too bothered about the late delivery, we ordered the large family grill for Father’s Day, through Just Eat, when it finally arrived all the sides advertised were missing Humus, Cecik Taram and olives, so I phoned the Restaurant, to see if they would send it, the woman was talking to someone in the background, who said “tell them we’re sorry” they then cut me off, I phoned them back, she then told me that they would get it ready but I would have to collect it, I told her “you want me to leave the dinner that I have got and drive to you to collect it, that’s not why I paid for a delivery, why should I have to collect it, she then said they have no drivers and that’s all they could do, even though they could have got another driver from Just Eat or a taxi, I won’t be ordering there again that’s for sure

A really good restaurant in Maidenhead. Open kitchen so you can see the chefs at work. Fantastic service and really really good food. Slightly on the pricey side but I really think worth it due to the freshness and quality of the dishes.

Pre lockdown I've been here they have one of the best Turkish food I've seen around also tasted the staff are amazing and they are on top of this covid making sure everyone including staff and customers are safe. Will be back and will definitely recommend.

Lovely food, and a genuine experience if you can visit in person. We have had takeaways too, but the portions always seem a bit smaller than in the restaurant. The Iskender kebab is great, but the other shish portions are quite small for their price. Still a firm favourite

Four of us visited for a meal. The food was very nice, service was quick. I think the drink menu is a bit lacking but overall a very nice experience.
