Shashlik in Leeds

Wouldn't normally post something like this but in shock really. Been ordering from Shashlik for years and curries have always been pretty good. Anyway, ordered our usual tonight for collection and went to collect it, it was pretty busy which is unusual. Anyways got home and the curry was wrong to what I ordered, I called them up and they offered to rectify and delivered me a new one, it arrived within 10mins of the call. Anyway the rectified mistake still wasn't right so I called them up to let them know, I told them I didn't want a refund or an exchange and I know their busy but the curry isn't what I ordered. By the time he had finished giving me grief on the phone saying allsorts I was then told to find somewhere else to order from in the future....... just wow, amazing customer service!!!

Food is disgusting avoid at all cost. Rude over priced wouldn’t feed a prisoner the meals. Went with mrs and 2kids restaurant was empty and my 2year old made a little mess and waiter making comments about it. The whole thing from starter to mains even the chips. Just wasn’t even edible. Waste of money review is we’ll late just looking for a curry and remember I didn’t write about how bad it was

Very poor takeaway,this place will struggle for repeat buisness . A chicken chaat starter had no pancake with it and the butter chicken for main couse was so sweet i dread to think how much sugar was used,butter chicken should not have any sugar in recipe,the qualityof the meat was ok but the cost of £68 for a takeaway for 4 was a little bit steep?

Not ordered from Shashlicks for a while. Ordered Chicken Handi and Chicken tika Balti together with Sundries. Both tasted very similar ..hot pepper on the palette. Could not detect any genuine curry spices at all. Oh yes there was a small difference between the two curries, the Handi was swimming in ghee. Threw it all away.

Not restaurant quality Ordered from here as they are a restaurant. This isnt good quality. | am comparing to Station Pizza a couple of days ago The chips were soggy The naan bread was burnt at the edges and under coked in the middle The keema korma was ok but had a large piece of something that was salty and not nice - unexpected and dehydrating piece of weird meat? We had pilau rice from Station Pizza the other month - as you expect white and peachy coloured. Shasliiks looked liked dirty fried rice and tasted like it too. Not only would I not order from here but wouldnt eat in the restaurant either. Station Pizza was far better on all counts!!

Fairy good overall, had better though! First of all we went for the set menu at £11 per person which is really good value for money!! The food was good but I’ve had better it has to be said but for the price totally worth it! Service was prompt and friendly! Atmosphere was good with a few tables in mid week! Better than your average takeaway but average in terms of restaurant quality, suppose reflected in the good value set menu price! Would return if a friend wanted to go but know a few better places! If they wanted a tip then the meat was a little over cooked/little bit dry.

Food was very nice. Service was excellent. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. They have a good offer on Sunday and Thursday but the menu is very reasonably priced so I’d go any day to eat at this place.

I ordered a takeaway last night and when I placed the online order it said delivery within an hour which on a Saturday evening I thought was acceptable. After 1 hour 20 minutes I called to check where the order was and I was advised it would be with me in 15 minutes it was all been cooked. I waited and after 1 hour 40 minutes I called and was told I had waited on an hour and that they were busy. I do not appreciate being called a liar and being lied to if you cannot fulfil an order,in the time stated, pick up a phone and let people know. I decided to cancel the order as I honestly don’t know when or even if the food would turn up. To add insult to injury the manger asked to to sort out my refund online which I could not do so had to call again to ask for my refund which could take upto 5 days! When I discussed the situation with the manager he asked me to calm down I was perfectly calm and found this extremely patronising.

First time visiting and will go again. Cheap cheerful and good food. All the tables were spaced apart and in light of current times Felt comfortable

During these times fo Corona, you want people through your doors and not turning them away (due to the poor customer service of your staff). After booking a table here, as soon as myself and my mother walked through the door, the member of staff seemed to have an attitude with us. Because of this we walked out (NEVER TO RETURN AGAIN !!) after only having the pickle tray. It's a shame though, as the food here is really nice, but I am big on customer service and the service we had today was the worst. I will now be looking for a new indian restaurant to goto.

We’ve had about 3 deliveries since lockdown. All meals have been delicious, easy ordering online and delivery always on time. Highly recommend!

Overall it's good value for money here and it offers BYOB as an option to keep the bill down. The food is good but nothing too special but that's what you pay for I guess. I'd definitely recommend it for someone going for a quick local curry.

Fantastic meal, good value for money and was delivered swiftly. The poppadums were a lovely surprise! Will definitely be ordering again in the future.

The dhansak just wasnt what it says on the label!! - the sauce/gravy was just hot too hot with no real flavour and no veg or thickness from lentils we did find some lentils when we got to the bottom of the foil container - it was like we had been given scooped stuff from the top of a pan of food

Food delivery - ordered Chicken Dhansak - no description on the menu so probably cnat complain, but dhansak is a curry of lentils and vegetables - no idea what they sent me but it was a very hot tomato gravy, no lentils, no veg and no flavour - just hot!!But the naan was luke warm!Keema Lorma was ok but not what I am used toRice no issueI thought as we were ordering from a restaurant it would be good quality but I truly have no idea what the dhansak really was??Mumbai Lounge have closed! Cant wait for them to reopen at their new location - mind you diet stars tomorrow - this was a treat before the diet, but I would have been better with cheese on beans on toast!! Tasty!!Wont order from or dine here following this experience

On the main site it shows delivery of 25 -.30 mins but once ordered it posted 1hr. I called restaurant quickly to say will it really be an hour and he said it was almost ready and will be with me much sooner. In the end of was about 55 minutes. Chicken was dry, nothing else was special at all.

Have been coming to shashlik for years and usually perfect. Not this time. Chewy rubbery chicken, long wait for service. Just not nice. What a shame. Wont go back

We've ordered from here before and it was lovely. Unfortunately, not tonight! Liver tikka starters were very bitter and hardly any liver. It should be chicken livers, but these weren't. In my last mouthful, I bit down onto a bit of bone or tooth! That got spat out. The naan bread was cold and rock hard, it got binned. The chicken and spinach curry had old woody textured chicken in it. Really really disappointed. Sorry, but we won't be ordering again.

Shashlik ha sido la casa de curry favorita desde que abrió sus puertas. Hay un menú variado e interesante y el trato que tienen en Weds & Sunday night es una excelente relación calidad-precio. Shashlick no tiene licencia, por lo que es un BYO que es genial si cuentas los centavos. El personal es amable, atento y te cuidan muy bien. Personalmente me gustan los especiales y los platos vegetarianos. ¡Mi hermano declaró la cebolla bhaji como la mejor que haya tenido!

I've had food from both the restaurant and the takeaway, both have been excellent! Food is very tasty and at a good price. Always greeted and served with a smile. Would highly recommend.

El miércoles, un grupo de 10 de nosotros celebró el cumpleaños de Peter con una comida en Shashlik. La comida era excelente, el servicio perfecto y la relación calidad-precio verdaderamente excepcional.

La comida del sábado por la noche estaba en juego, y el shashlik ha sido recomendado algunas veces, así que pensamos que lo haríamos antes. . . al hacer el pedido le pregunté al chico por teléfono si lo que quería era picante. . Le expliqué que lo quería bastante caliente para poder elegir algo más si no se podía hacer. . fue muy amable y servicial, y dijo que podría hacerlo tan caluroso como me gustaría. . así que pedí calor madras. No hay problema. La comida iba a ser de alrededor de una hora, que un sábado por la noche estaba esperando, pero cuando llegó una hora y media más tarde estaba tibia, que podíamos tratar, pero la comida era medioka suave y nada picante. Me sentí enamorada de este delicioso plato picante llamado a quejarse y se lo expliqué al mismo tipo que se acordó de mí y no pudo disculparse lo suficiente que me envió un curry nuevo con chappis y popadoms sin cargo. Genial, sí, sí, gracias. . llegó muy rápido y todavía estaba caliente al tacto pero el sabor todavía no estaba allí en general, la comida que sentimos no era lo que nos habían hecho creer, pero no puedo culpar al servicio al cliente, así que quizás si elegimos podemos solo tendré mejor suerte la próxima vez.

La noche de los miércoles, buena comida, buena oferta, lugar lleno hasta las vigas, un servicio fantástico, pero había una diferencia en nuestras muchas visitas anteriores. Jameel se fue para comenzar su propia empresa de taxis y será profundamente extrañado. No solo era un tipo realmente encantador, sino que seguramente era la mejor persona de la casa que uno podría esperar encontrar. Enormes zapatos para llenar.

A last minute decision to go for the Sunday 2 course special in the evening did not disappoint. Great service & food enjoyed by all the family. Bring your own alcohol keeps the costs down, well done Shashlik

Delicious food and very friendly staff. We have visited here several times on our own and with friends. Very impressed that on the second visit they remembered us. Food is lovely, and the service is good.

Been going here for our usual Friday night takeaway for as long as i can remember. Fantastic staff, fantastic food. Eaten in a lot too. Never had a bad one. If you have never been, you are missing out.

We called in to eat and were very lucky to get a table, it was very busy, however this did not in any way get in the way of the great service we had, the food was delicious, my only complaint was the portion size...

As this is just down the road from our house, and my other half has eaten in before and said it was nice thought we would give it a try!! Got Onion Bhaji and Chicken madras, Bhajis were like they had been sat there since they opened 3 hours earlier!! Couldn't eat them they were dry as a bone and rock hard! Madras tasted of NOTHING, no heat, no taste! Then 2 bites in, bit into a big bit of grissle and couldn't face eating any more! Disgusting!! Only ordered 1 popadom but they sent 3, they were quite nice! The only good point!! Good job because I was and still am starving!!! Don't waste your money ordering from here!!

The curries themselves were lovely. The rice and naan bread left a little to be desired; the naan bread in particular was quite tough.

We ordered two dishes making sure they were vegetarian, however when we received them one of them contained meat. This was disturbing as me and my family almost ate it as we knew we had clarified our needs earlier on. When we confronted the manager to let him know the order was wrong he denied his mistake and went on to blame us for ordering wrong. It was not until we had him check the orders that the chef had received that he accepted his mistake. The dispute was really unnecessary and ruined the whole evening with this appalling service.

Very disappointed. Have eaten in the restaurant and it was lovely. But takeaway was not so good. Starters were lovely. I had lamb passanda and the meat was inedable. Won't be ordering again.

Food was great as always but a bit of confusion with delivery time. When I ordered it said delivery at 7.25pm which was fine, nothing had arrived by 7.40 so I called the restaurant who said they were just packing it and it finally arrived at 8pm. Not a big deal but if they'd let us know it was going to be 8pm we'd have been fine with it was just annoying to have to call and ask. Otherwise order was great

My chicken makhani was very tough. The sauce was nice but the chicken was hard to eat, it tasted re-heated and not tender at all. My partner enjoyed his handi but I don't think I will order again sadly as you can't take risks with chicken.

Another tasty, well cooked meal from this restaurant. We have never had a problem with quality of food. In fact, it is delicious and always piping hot. Delivery always excellent and when I made a mistake with my last order and contacted the restaurant they were friendly and rectified my mistake immediately. Our favourite by far when ordering a take away!

11 of us went to the Shashlik restaurant to cellebrate my brothers 50th. The Shashlik we very welcoming friendly and provided great service and excellent food. They don't serve alcohol here so you have to bring your own, which is ok.

Ordered for 6 people, was duet at 20:40 but didn't arrive till 21:30

One of my favourite Asian restaurants. Great food, impeccable service and excellent value. You take your own alcoholic drinks, the restaurant provide the glasses at no extra cost, so the bill is so cheap. Well done Shashlik, top marks all round. See you soon.

I love curries, and Indian food generally. But that was the biggest disappointment I have ever encountered. Two completely bland dishes. Not a hint of spice. I must admit I hate the recent trend of throwing a green chili in every dish, so often they are all heat & no taste. But now I understand why. There was no chili in either, & no flavour other than an overly sweet korma. What happened to the blend of spices, that made Indian food great 😞

Food top quality as usual. This is restaurant food home delivered and everything from the bhajis to the pickles, aloo saag and bhuna, not to mention mint sauce (yum) and rice and bread was DELICIOUS!!! Delivery good as ever. The best local place for a good value authentic top notch meal.

Been here a number of times now,and have to say,I can't find any faults. Food is delicious, staff are attentative. Great value for money.I had keema india for main course,too full to finish,so asked the waiter to bag it up,to my delight when I got home they had bagged a full meal up.Been through practically all of the menu and every dish is a delight.They do a midweek offer too which is a bonus.Good food,good value;good atmosphere.

Waited over an hour for food, When it arrived the naan, chapati & seekh kebab were dry and cold and the chicken in the curry was tough and gristly. Not happy.

Excellent value meal with a very different menu highlighting Indian regional cuisine. All was delicious and the service very good but you may have to wait for a table during busy times.

As curry's go, the meal I had tonight was a perfect 10/10. One of those meals you fancy all day and then it meets/exceeds your expectations. Recommended and a must try if your a curry lover!

One of the nicest currys and homemade nann breads had in a long time. Menu on their own website is not entirely clear so couldn't use it to get 10% off, had to use just eat which for some reason doesn't apply it. Also called takeaway shop to inquire if anything came with currys ie rice or chips etc due to quite high price for a curry and a lot of takeaway shops offer this, to be laughed at which was not good customer service so I put the phone down on the man with no manners. Cannot fault the food though but won't be visiting the restaurant if the glorified receptionist on the fone is anything to go by.

As I'm new to town, I've been looking for a favourite Indian around Horsforth, Shashlik will not be one of them from my first impressions. We arrived on a Saturday night in mid July, and it was what it seems busy although there were a few tables yet to be accompanied. I didn't find the service too friendly at all, and the food being probably just under average. Service was not attentive and the food to me and my partner, tasted very basic, nothing special or unique of its kind.

Had a takeaway and have to say it was the best by far and I visit many restaurants all over the country. Very good value for money.

3 of us visited on Saturday evening the 23rd. It was busy but only what you would expect on a Saturday evening. The food was average and the service was diabolical, people not getting there orders in full, no drinks orders taken at all! We had 2 tables seated after us , yet they got their food before us? Cutlery ,plates etc were literally thrown at you across the table.... Appalling!! We eat out often and will NOT be returning here.

Food was really nice as usual and I will order again from Shashlik 100% but on this occasion the collection was poor. It said 8:30pm pick up and when I arrived there had blatantly been an error whereby the food was delayed to the point I'm not sure it had even started cooking. The restaurant was really busy in fairness and I appreciate the staff being in demand but a little customer service would have been nice. Personally I'd rather be told it'll be 20 minutes late than just being made to stand in a full restaurant looking lost and wondering what's happened.

The food could have come from any one of the same type of Indian take away in this area ? Do they use the same Asian food factory ? Onion Bhaji burnt ! Would not recommend this take away

Ordered for 8pm and arrived exactly on time!! Food was hot and delicious. Chicken soft and tender in curry and aloo saag is the best out there. Breads and rice also top quality. Have to mention the mint accompaniment....this was the nicest I have ever had and I recommend anyone to try it with their starters to dip in. It went so well with my excellent mixed starter. Another great meal and experience from this top quality restaurant/takeaway. Yes, it costs more but then quality does!

Absolutely love ordering and visiting Shashlik! Never ever fails me. They have a super range of vegetarian dishes which can be hard to find with curry houses!
