Akbar's in Leeds

It's the place we go to eat. When we asked for a bill, we had a long conversation with an employee who repeated 4 times that the tip was not included in the fee. Since when is it mandatory to tip a crappy presentation? food was not tasty enough. luckily i rounded up the bill and came out paying £60 for a disgrace + tasteless meal. I will never go through the door again Leeds Akbar brunch.

Always had a great meal, but have been let down this time. Always busy, what had happened not even half full on arrival. Ordered starters wh7ch were ok, main curry, usually good chunks of chicken this time very small cubes and over cooked, nann bread ok. Left very disappointed as have used akbars for years, and have always recommended, but not this time. Needs to go back to what they used to be.

This is a gem of a place. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. 10/10 for a fantastic Indian restaurant experience.

The restaurant is Pakistani and their food is delicious. I recommend going there and trying it. The food is varied and the quantity is large. The dish is enough for two people, the menu is varied, the prices are reasonable, the service is fast and excellent, and the place is large enough to serve large numbers. All the employees were quick to serve, especially Amaar and Rizwan, who took the order and were interested in us and wish them well-being. We went back to him a second time and his food was very delicious. I recommend his food and the service is the best and the food is fast 👍🏻

CHECK THE RECEIPT - they overcharge for things not in the receipt. The food was okay and the waiter was amazing, I gave 1 star review because the receipt was £70, but they charged me £77, without even notified me. If this was 10% service tax, that is fine, but no warning or even mention about it.

Went to Akbars in Eastgate (Leeds) last night with family and friends. Tanveer (Manager) was very welcoming, friendly, gave his best customer service throughout the night. Food was lovely, warm, fresh! 100% reccomended!

Always a top place for a great curry.

The customer service was poor and the food was very average for the price. We understand that the place is crowded and servers will be busy but the attitude towards us the entire time was very poor.

Splendid food , great atmosphere and lovely interior inside the restaurant. I just want to bring up that the manager tanveer was absolutely ace , he welcomed me and my wife and helped us with everything . Straight 5 star hospitality. Kind regards

The food is always cooked perfectly and packed full of flavour, the staff are super friendly too. I’d say it’s the best Indian food in Leeds.

If you're a fan of Pakistani cuisine, Akbar’s is definitely worth a visit! The Nihari was absolutely lovely—rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. One of my go to places when I’m in Leeds or Manchester! Please open one in London!!! :’)

Naan bread is of good quality. I ordered one naan bread with seafood balti and a poppadom. I think one main dish is enough for only one person.

Went here on the 21st September for a birthday meal with the family (including children). Food was great, little slow to come though, and prices were not too bad. However, after barely finishing our meal we were told we had to leave the table as the next booking had arrived. We had been at the table for 1 hour and 30 mins. We still had drinks so had to stand in a tiny area outside the toilets to finish. This ruined an other wise good night. If you have a time limit they should warn you before hand and speed up with bringing the mains. Based on the experience I would avoid and go to the Leeds Road restaurant instead.

Not worth the Hype!!! As it was a special day, we wanted to celebrate by dining out. Everything was lovely the atmosphere, the vibe. Later we got menu and we were having small talks and taking pics, Even though they knew we were busy, they were keep bugging us to order. We said will check, give us some time, again he's there asking us to order. It was irritating which we hated. Later ordered samosa chat and 2 bread and a curry. It was not worth the Hype. There are so many other curry places i would recommend. Ignore this place if possible.

My fav place around here. Come for the lamb chops every time I’m. In town. Everything else is decent too. Always happy to sit walk ins and a no fuss service.

Everything was a bit meh really. 4/6 of us today have an upset stomach. Long wait for drinks. Waiters didn't know what so e of the dishes were when they came out. Garlic naan bread was dry, certainly the low point. Highlight was the starters. Bhaji and Chaplin kebab. Everything was overpriced for what it was and the service. I won't have "busy Saturday" as an excuse, what do you expect in Leeds city centre on a Saturday?

Was pretty disappointed with the dining in Leeds in general but did not enjoy the food here at all. Staff were amazing, place was lovely and clean. It was late and this is the only place open. I really hope we were unlucky on that Friday night or it’s just we are used to a different style in Essex. Going by reviews, lots of people liked it , but wasn’t for us .

One of the best restaurants in Leeds! Affordable, 5 star food, 5 star service and a cozy dining place. If you come to Leeds or live here, you're missing out if you don't come here.

This is a curry place that caters for a certain clientel, they have over half a dozen "balti" dishes which should be a clue on what this is about and they serve alcohol so is it even Halal even though its named "Akber"??? Definitely not a place for desi foodies.. they are better places around for that. Service was good though.

My first visit to Leeds on a school reunion and the staff couldn't have made our experience any better. The welcome, the advice about menu options and suggestions to suit our various pallets was spot on. The authenticity of the food equals the best I've tasted and this includes Manchester and Birmingham. A mahoosive shout out to the chef (s). Naan breads the size of a small child. Food arrived quite quickly by very friendly restaurant staff who can't do enough for you. I will definitely look out for Akbar's closer to home, it's one to add to my faves.

Halal Indian restaurant The atmosphere of the restaurant is noisy, the music is loud The chairs are old and not clean The chairs are very, very close together We were served by an employee named Waseem If his service was excellent, it was considered good He did not give us free appetizers, even though he gave them to the rest of the tables He did not bring us perfumed tissues, although he gave the rest as well We ordered meat biryani and it came with a free side dish, but it didn't come to us until very late But the food is excellent and delicious I recommend trying it 👍🏼

It was my first visit in 17 years. The staff quickly suggested recommendations when ordering. I chose a slightly spicy dish and the quantity was just right. I think I will go again.

Really nice menu with a few different things on it. Starters we had (fish masala and tikka liver ) were massive, especially the liver and I think the quantity of the liver was enough for two people or three. The fish was described as it would be haddock or cod. It was neither but I didn’t mind as it was still lovely. The starter sizes kind of made it harder to fully enjoy the mains. Some really nice veggy dishes on the menu. Massive tasty nan breads. Great service. Decent price

It is a good Indian restaurant. Food was good too, but the lamb on the Biryani wasn’t cooked enough. The experience in general was lovely.

Customer service is on another level. Staff can't help you enough. If you're going for the meat chop, I will have to say Akbars in Manchester and Bradford do them better. I found them very chewy compared to the other branches. My garlic nan was slightly well done on some parts of my nan that's the reason I can't give them 5 stars. Overall, it was very good.

The food is very delicious. The service from the staff is good Shoaib was our waiter. He was friendly and enthusiastic and eager to help us. Very good restaurant, worth trying.

Hands down the best food ive ever eaten!! The chicken was cooked to perfection and the taste was sensational. I could literally eat here every day and still be amazed at the flavours. No other curry restaurant even comes close to these guys, keep up the tremendous work!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Hiya, I'm just giving this review two star only because the manager name with the said there was really rude. He even don't know how to talk to customer or if any customer is unhappy with any food or how to serve the food. He was really rude and the way he treat customer is not good. So the management should replace the manager Madison the people who serve the food. They were really kind and good. So if it's it only on the manager I will give zero to that akbas. Thank you I would like to add on that the prince United serve us the food and he was really kind and very professional unlike his manager modester who was not professional at all

average food , cheese seekh kebab was stinky, Fried lamb chops red meat .

The food was good although the masala fish was slightly bland and lacked seasoning. The whole experience was spoilt by an immature annoying young boy of a waiter. His constant interruption and silly childish comments were not appreciated! We would have preferred to have been left alone with out being constantly hassled throughout our meal! He spoilt our meal!

If you're into Indian and Pakistani cuisine, Akbar's is the perfect destination. The dishes are delicious and spicy, served in a warm atmosphere. I recommend trying the Chef's Challenge, which includes a generous portion of beef and chicken stew, rice, and naan bread—plenty to share between two people! Don't forget to order a jug of mango lassi for the table.

Had a lovely family meal at Akbar’s restaurant. The food was out of this world & the portions were really great value. Tanveer served us & was so lovely & attentive. He went to the trouble of chatting to us & recommending a special birthday dessert with a sparkler - which was perfect for our celebrations. Couldn’t have asked for a better server! I’d recommend the lovely atmosphere & food - can’t wait to go back again soon.

Visiting Leeds for a city break, we walked past this restaurant a few times over the weekend and it was always busy so had to try it for ourselves. So glad we did! Fantastic service and beautiful food. Menu was huge and lots of vegetarian options. The naan breads were huge and the best I’d tasted. Will definitely return next time we are in the area.

GRTCC - A bit too commercial now, very , very good food, but the atmosphere was hollow and echoey and didn’t feel like a warm friendly place to meet and eat. Also what does annoy me is when the bill arrives without a service charged included, tick, but to be told by the waiter that’s £x each which included a healthy tip, I would like to decided for myself what the tip should be. Would I go again, yes.

Another big shout out for Shoaib who looked after us impeccably! We were warmly welcomed on entry (with no booking) and had a table in minutes - even though the restaurant was really busy, and the service remained excellent throughout. Shoaib was great fun with the Chef's Challenge, and keen to encourage and support our efforts in every way possible (within the rules). I was expecting the 'challenge' food to be too spicy, too much, or maybe not on the same par as the normal menu, but it was fantastic! I'd have no hesitation in recommending Akbars to anyone - couldn't fault it at all.

The food was delicious, and we enjoyed it very much. However, we felt rushed to order, eat, and leave, which was not a pleasant experience. Therefore, I am not sure if I would return to this restaurant in the future, as I do not appreciate feeling rushed while dining.

We went to Akbar's on the evening of Friday 26th April with a group of work friends for a birthday celebration. The restaurant was busy but our group was seated quickly. Tanveer, our waiter, was very helpful and the service was brilliant throughout the evening. The food was perfect and we had a fantastic and very jolly evening.

Food was OK but as I was there a guy was standing in the doorway sheltering from the rain. Someone went out and shouted at him to get off his private land.

We ordered a mango mojito mocktail but they got us a cocktail with vodka in it. It was served to my Muslim friend who was following the holy month. When we reached out to the manager, they argued that it had no alcohol in it and it was lemon that is causing that burn in the drink though one of the female staff checked n confirmed that it had alcohol in it. It just dint end there they have the wrong wine twice to me and the pina colada mocktail was absolutely bland with no sweetness. Overall the worst experience ever with no apology for their biggest blunder of spoiling the holy month for my friend.

Wonderful experience. Really lovely service from the senile team and Kes our tables waiter. We had a mixture of starters mains, all 6 of us were impressed with everything.

After a disappointing visit to Bradford Akbars we thought we’d try Leeds and they saved the day. The welcome from Shoaib was friendly and his service right up until we left was 10/10…friendly, attentive, genuinely interested in our night and some great pointers on the desi style dishes. We had a Chicken Tikka & Keema Balti and a Desi Style Tandoori Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan, both really really good, particularly the desi one which was a 10/10. Thankyou for restoring our faith in Akbars but please get them to sort Bradford out, it used to be great. We will definitely be back to Leeds soon.

Is always a nice place to go for curry in Leeds town

Staff was very rude! Also ordered Lamb biryani, it most definitely was not an biryani came out to be lamb curry mixed with rice. Dont be fooled with their version of Indian food. Waiter staff was the worst.

Me and my brother went for a nice bonding meal - we decided to both do the Chef Challenge #1 to test our stomachs. We were greeted nicely by Tanveer who seated us and showed great enthusiasm towards our goal for finishing the Chef’s Challenge. We did end up finishing and were rewarded with certificates and a free ice cream. Very pleasant experience and tasty food. Big shout out to Tanveer for being such a nice and supportive waiter.

This modern South Indian restaurant was a fabulous experience and one that we have visited again since the first time. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. For starters we shared the popadoms, chicken wings and onion bhaji. We had the beautiful Karahi King Prawn Tikka, Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Madras and Liver Tikka for mains. A complete show stopper was the family size nan and an absolute must with this delicious meal.

Had a great time celebrating a friend's birthday. Great portions and amazing naan bread. I'd like to thank Tanveer for his great service and friendly attitude. We really appreciate your enthusiasm! 😃

Classic Akbar’s, mega spicy but just the way I like it. Service very quick, reasonable prices and delicious food. The new waiter spilled drinks on our table but they were really nice about it and it didn’t spoil the occasion. Go here if you like your food HOT!

Couldn’t recommend enough! The food was phenomenal, the service was outstanding and it had a really good atmosphere in the place. We had ordered a dish and didn’t realise how spicy it was, we asked if anything could be changed and they replaced our curry for us and our rice that had been on the plate with the spicy curry, so there was no food waste. The staff were excellent, they were breaking their fast whilst we were there and it was amazing to see such a happy supportive working environment! Will defo be back x

I urge diners to exercise caution when visiting this restaurant, as my recent experience left much to be desired. Unfortunately, my bill was inflated with unauthorized additions, and the waiter's attempt to hasten payment raised concerns about their integrity. Furthermore, I was surprised by unsolicited entrees, initially told they were £1 only to find they were actually priced at £4.5 on the bill. This disappointing encounter left me questioning the establishment's ethics and customer service standards."

Shoaib was the man, incredible. I hat a great guy. From the moment I walked in he treated us like as if we were his own. I didn’t leave full from the curry I left full from his embrace. He molded me like playdough.

Food wasn’t up to the usual standard, service wasn’t the best either but this was most likely due to it being busy.

Every food was amazing. Naan was big as well. Ask for 'Shoaib' he is a great server. I am gonna ask for Shoaib next time I come back.

When a place gets too popular of famous, it loses its original spark and the flavours get sacrificed for extra tables Well, I came here with fairly low expectations and boy did they blow those out of the water The place was packed and it was only a Wednesday I think there must’ve been 5 birthday celebrations alone that evening But the service was never slow or wanting Decor was modern and spread out over two floors They had the giant naan breads that hang from the noose We had a spread mix of various chargrilled delights, from mushrooms to paneer to king prawns and the most succulent lamb chops There was so much and because it was so tasty, I ate more than I probably should’ve because when my main came out, I truly struggled to put a dent in it Excellent and I would highly recommend

My first visit to the restaurant with friends, some of whom had visited before. Very popular restaurant. Busy when we arrived without booking, but received friendly welcome and promptly shown to our table. The service was excellent and all enjoyed our wide selection of food. Would have given 4.5 stars.

Absolutely fabulous food and choice, haven't changed since opening Bradford restaurant oooo over 25 years ago then open Leeds ! Love this restaurant and would highly recommend it - travel all the way from Ireland with my partner who has never been before to experience your very good choice of Indian food - thank you
