What a great lively little spot with the freshest seafood you could imagine. Great staff and an enthusiastic chef/owner made for a great evening!

Great place. Low key with super quality food and wonderful staff. When we went even the local fisherman was having a drink at the bar in his wellies ( a great sign). A real find and worth a visit. Worthy of any fancy London restaurant in terms of food quality. You won't regret a trip here...

Value-for-money-wise some of the best fish in London, full stop. The mackerel in particular, superlative stuff. Great backstory re the chef.

Chef Steve McClarty's passion for food & expertise comes across in every dish - we ordered loads of sharing plates - they were all fantastic. If you love great quality fish & seafood, with interesting flavours that don't overwhelm, then we won't be disappointed. The service is brilliant - friendly & efficient & the arches of Deptford market create a fun vibe with many other eateries sharing the space. Being so close to the station meant we could enjoy a chilled bottle of white wine too. To end our wonderful afternoon, we were presented with 3 small samples of ice cream & challenged to identify the flavours; after some deliberation we were delighted that our palates didn't let us down! Thank you Steve, Maria & your team for a memorable experience.

Extremely busy, but we were well looked after with great food and drinks, definitely try the Bloody Mary and the oysters are the best in London. Staff were very friendly and we will definitely be returning soon.

Met with my wife and a couple of friends in Deptford on a Saturday afternoon. Fancying some seafood and on the recommendation of another friend we decided on this place. So glad we did, food was fantastic, especially the oysters. However, the best bit and a must have is their Bloody Mary! Will be going back soon.

Came to Sharkbate after hearing incredible reviews from multiple people, AND THIS PLACE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The seafood is the best in London and every dish was a triumph and unparalleled. Highly recommend. If you don’t pay them a visit you’ll definitely be missing out.

Was introduced to this restaurant by a friend. The food was delicious - sharing plates, cooked right in front if you. It’s a quirky little place with a great vibe. Prices are reasonable. I can’t wait to take my husband back.

I love shark bait, great sharing plates, yummy croquettes and the absolute best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had!! You can feel there is a real passion behind the food! You can always count on it being good. And the service is warm and friendly. It’s got a great playlist with a fun vibe!

Stopped off with a couple friends and loved everything we ate. Great £1 oyster and prawns deal on Wednesdays. And the staff are so friendly and helpful. Thanks so much, we’ll be back for sure!!

Guys if you want super good seafood and super service you must come here. Yes it is tiny, yes it’s not maybe “posh” looking but everything in here it is amazing. Come and try yourself. You will thank me later 😊 hope those guys will expand in the future because they are doing amazing job here.

Being a local, I've been wanting to try this place for a long time, so I decided to go with 3 friends on a lovely wednesday evening. Such a good choice we made! The menu is quite short (which I've always considered a sign of quality), and somehow exotic. Ingredients are combined in unexpected ways which are surprisingly yummy and really do justice to the fish, which was fresh and yummy - the lime and tandoori spiced mussels were incredible, but so was everything else we tried! Prices are also a plus, £25 pp and we tried basically everything on the menu plus a bottle of spanish bubbles... Big up guys, keep doing what you're doing, you're doing it extremely well!

Had high hopes from reading other reviews and regularly walking past - 3 or 4 times a week. It's always busy, always a good sign but the meal we ordered was just not what we were expecting and we both left feeling dis-satisfied and still hungry. (we ordered 4 dishes).

One of the best meals I have had in a while - superb fish and fantastic service. Staff were welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you.

Outstanding food, excellent wines and great atmosphere! If you are into seafood, you must visit Sharkbait & Swim! If you like perfectly cooked steak or lamb you should visit too. The outside area is big and the menu has a very nice selection.

We are just planning our next visit, when we realised that we hadn't put a review on here of the opening night of this fantastic little place. Sitting right next to the action is a unique experience - you can see the skill and care...
