shapla in Sheffield

This is the first issue I’ve had with Shapla. The lamb was tough and dry in the curry. Disappointed as this is the first issue I’ve had.

Absolutely delicious as always shapla never disappoints. Service is amazing and fast our server Issam was amazing nothing is too much trouble.

I use this restaurant every night when visiting Sheffield. I cannot speak highly enough of it. Courteous, polite staff, happy to engage in conversation. Excellent food. I love it!

What an incredible curry house! I travel up every year from Gloucester to watch the Snooker and always visit for a fresh, delicious and flavourful curry. No heat up rubbish here, just piping hot, freshly prepared food that will satisfying the most hardened curry lover! Service is impeccable and prices very reasonable; I am looking forward to my visit next year and advise anyone in the area to try them out… you won’t be disappointed.

One word to say awful the worst curry house I’ve ever been to. We had ants in our food they ordered the wrong food it’s very expensive and the owner is very rude. Save your money and you will find better.

Always a good meal with excellent service and hospitality.

Sadly only a spoon of lime pickle in the pickle tray. The starter tasty but cold. The Lamb Madras lacked depth of flavour, tang and heat. It was only as hot as a bhuna. The delivery guy was nice.

A Sheffield staple I've visited countless times and always spot on. Friendly welcoming staff beautiful tasteful dinning room and incredibly authentic to dishes all at reasonable prices.

A brilliant place to eat, whether it’s early or late at night. The staff can’t do enough for you can are extremely friendly. Plus the foods very nice. A staple of Sheffield.

Lovely as always from Shapla but expensive

The most ridiculous 4.1 you will ever see on a Google restaurant review. Chicken madras, garlic naan, egg fried rice and bhajis, you will never look back, it was simply incredible. Best curry experience out I have had in quite a while. Golden flavours, I can't quite describe how delighted we are about what we just ate literally 2 mins ago, so much so to be compelled to instantly give thanks on here. Keep going boys and show the world what curry is supposed to be.

I recently dined at Shapla Restaurant in Sheffield and had an exceptional experience. The food was delicious, showcasing authentic Indian and Bangladeshi flavors. Amazing food, shame the nan bread wasn’t in the bag as that’s my favourite bit to dip in sauce. Will order again though as it’s one of the best in Sheffield. Been going to Shapla for 20+ years

This is the second time the Shapla forgot some of our order and they stated'it was a human error'!! Such great service in the restaurant but not when ordering online.

Perfectly reasonable old school curry house, a little old fashioned in decor but none the worse for that. Very clean and tidy looking which counts for a lot in my book. Very very friendly staff, the mix starter for 4 was plentiful and tasty. The pickle tray which came with it was bountiful. Huge. Licenced place, the usual cobra on tap. I was slightly less impressed with my curry as it meant to be quite spicy and was in fact slightly bland. The chunks of lemon in the lemon rice were a touch too chunky for my taste. So, fine if you are dropping by, order a hot one if you want a medium one, thinknabout the mixed starter as that's a triumph, and choose fairly conservatively beyond that.

Always been delightful. Best Tandoori house in Sheffield by some distance. Highly recommend the Tandoori Half Roast Chicken or the Lamb Shaslik

Reservamos una mesa por teléfono hace semanas para esta noche Nochebuena para una familia de 4 a las 4 pm. Llegó a las 3. 50 y notó que no estaba abierto, otra familia se paró afuera también. Pudimos ver a alguien en la cocina en la parte de atrás, pero no pensaron en venir y hablar con nosotros fuera. Esperamos 20 minutos sin señal de apertura o alguien hablando con nosotros si tenían un problema de personal. Se fue con hambre y enojo...

Lleva años yendo a Shapla. Visitó el restaurante en la calle 21 24 de diciembre y una vez más fue recibido con una cálida y amable bienvenida. La comida una vez más era excelente y servida de manera oportuna. Recomendaría Shapla a cualquiera que disfrute de la comida india. Gracias a todo el personal por hacer nuestra visita muy agradable.

Hi went to shapla on Saturday 30th November. What can I say ? Absolutely beautiful food probably my best Indian experience ever. Staff was spot on, service was perfect we were really looked after. Can't wait to return 👍

I tend to evaluate Indian restaurants based on their music selection, the quality of their Seekh kebab, and how long they have been around. This restaurant was playing “Aisi Deewangi” by Alka Yagnik & Vinod Rathod, served an outstanding, fresh Seekh Kebab, and has been around since 1979. From start to finish, I was well taken care of, received great recommendations, and felt right at home. This place scores very highly in my book. Thank you so much, and I look forward to visiting again soon.

We love there food but it was cold and delivered late

Had a lovely meal here. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Food was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. Food was served quickly and the overall service was excellent. Recommend anyone to give it a try. Well worth it.

Food quality always good. Their vegetarian dishes are always full of taste. Love the dhansak in particular.

I have been coming t thisd restuarant on and off for 40 years and have never been disappointed. The food has a rich taste to it which is well spieced and flavoursome at a good competitive price with good portion sizes. Although its on Cumberand Street somewhat away from other City Centre Indian restuarants it is certainly worth the effort to go. For those driving not walking there is a small car park at the rear of the premises. The staff are friendly and the decor is tasteful. I would certainly recomment it asnd will be going again soon.

I have been coming to this excellent restaurant for a number of years now, and it never fails to impress. Last night was no exception. The food is great, and the service is second to none. It is everything that I want from a Curry House, and Shapla is the best in Sheffield. Long may it continue. I will definitely be back.

Went in on a Saturday night no need to book the service from start to finish was fantastic and the food was lovely.. best pickle tray we’ve ever .. the starters and curry were lovely. And the staff ever so nice

Really disappointed as usually the food is nice and all correct, this time unfortunately The food arrived and the chips, chicken Bhuna/madras was cold. I also asked on a note for the chicken Bhuna to be plain (due to dietary requirements) which they usually accommodate, and when arrived came with all ingredients in which was then not able to be eaten. Hopefully a one off as usually are really nice

Best curry in Sheffield by miles. We recently went as a very large party - the staff couldn’t do enough for you - led by Malik who is an absolute gentleman, very wise mixed with a great sense of humour … Simply put - fantastic food & place .. Well done Shapla crew 👍🏻

Fantastic food. The perfect Indian meal in my opinion

One of if not the best curries I have had, always hot when it arrives, super fresh and cooked to perfection. Ive tried alot over the years and wont go anywhere else now. Restaurant prices of course but with this comes quality and flavour worth waiting for.

Made a pre order for 7:45 which it came exactly on time so can’t fault that, but the chicken tikka masala wasn’t nice at all. The chicken was rubbery and the sauce was watery 😩 rest of the food was lovely though

Food wasn't up to mark. would prefer Pakistani cuisine instead of bengali. Waiter were inexperienced straight from Bangladesh.

We always order from Shapla usually without complaint. the past 2 orders haven’t been their usual standard. Tonight the naan bread was undercooked / soggy. The salad was soggy and old. There wasn’t a lot of chicken in the bhuna dish. Disappointing

I ordered chicken dhansak, it was very nice, however I only had a few bits of chicken, but loads of pineapple, I would have preferred the restaurant to have been a little more generous with the main ingredient. Hubby said the tandoori king prawn was very good.

Great food but trying to force us to pay cash by directing us outside to a cash machine is not on. Had to explain we were using a company card to pay before they backed down left a lot to be desired

I have had my eye on this restaurant for over 10 years, so it was a great relief to finally get my tongue on it too. One off the curry bucket list for sure! First up I have to praise the extremely high class decor. This is not your run of the mill black leather chair situation, this is a dining room adorned with beautiful scupltures and highly, highly stimulating artworks. I was drinking in my surroundings with as much thirst as I was drinking down my cold Cobra beer. Was the food delicious? You know me, of course it was! Even better it was served on warming flames to maintain the perfect temprature. If I hadn't been careful (which I was) we could have had an Akbars York situation on our hands (real curry fans will know what I mean). Overall I would say I love Shapla and will DEFINITELY come back. Amen x

Been to this restaurant a few times over the years and it never fails to please ! Food always excellent and staff and service always exceptional ! Deffo recommend anyone who enjoys a tasty curry etc to come here as you will not be dissapointed 🍛🥘

We are regular customers at Shapla normally we have had a good experience but been in tonight just got home had such a bad experience as there was a group of drunken men in swearing and shouting and being a general pain in the backside. Me and my husband felt really uncomfortable tonight. We have decided we will not be going back to Shapla as the waiters thought the men were funny and laughing with them and did nothing about the men's behaviour. We are not party poopers but tonight was disgusting from this group of men plus under their table was in a mess which the staff never cleaned it up. I went to the toilet and there was no toilet roll and we were rushed with our meal they don't give you chance to finish before they are brining the next course. Shapla has lost 2 very loyal customers tonight.

Great food slight disappointed by the insistence of paying in cash and asking us to walk to a cash machine. After explaining none of us had cards or cash on us they accepted we could pay card .

Lovely food but one of the curries were wrong and therefor spoilt our monthly treat night, my son ate a pot noddle instead, was given chicken korma instead of butter chicken

I didn’t enjoy this experience at all. I was charged £37 for some dry mix grill and some butter chicken with some naans. Mix grill tasted like it was leftovers from yesterday warmed up today. Butterchicken had a sour smell and naans tasted sweet I really hated it. Do people really fall for it? Never going there again.

My collegue and I stumbled accross this Gem of a restauraunt earlier this evening, food and service were fantastic and a very acceptable wine list, recommend for dinner especially the chefs specials , which were sublime

Visited along with a group of friends for a graduation dinner - atrocious customer service! A consistently rude demeanour from the waiter throughout the evening. To make matters worse, there was a discrepancy in the bill which when pointed out, resulted in us facing an uncooperative attitude and a blatant refusal to accept their mistake. This spoiled our evening although the food was okay. Would NOT recommend!!

Fast delivery, so that was good. However, the food was merely acceptable (with decent flavours), but nothing special. The main issue was that the food was pretty poor on the quantity, especialy considering the price; with delivery it was nearly 53 quid for four dishes! I would have expected deep filled tubs, but they each were relatively small helpings. We struggled to feed four people with this order AND we supplied our own rice! Not good enough for the price in my opinion.

Went after watching The Arsenal at Bramall Lane. Good curry. And excellent side dishes. Very friendly and efficient owner and staff.

The food is great both in terms of taste and portions, the waiters are helpful and quick, the atmosphere is comfortable and non-pretentious. Been there 5-6 times so far, and I'll keep going.
