Mowgli Street Food in Sheffield

I visited ecclesall branch tonight whilst food was amazing. The service charge and charity donation automatically added along poor service not so much. The lady at front of house told me I was first to arrive yet she'd already seated her and said ooo I thought she was here for a take away. We had several different server come ask us for our orders after we ordered (may i add there was a hand full customers in tonight so wasn't busy) They also kept bothering if we wanted extra food we asked for our dessert as we paid for it, which they queried if we wanted extra to which we had to remind them it was part of price we paid. As mentioned the food was amazing but we asked for the bill 4 times one staff we asked didn't fetch it us he'd clocked off and left, when she did fetch it she told us the total amount not gave us the bill, so I couldn't query the service charge till after. Safe to say I won't be returning

WOW! 🤩 This place is amazing! Lovely restaurant, lovely attentive staff and amazing food! It’s a dining adventure! My wife is coeliac and they cooked GF dishes separately and she loved being able to eat out with peace of mind. The rest of us shared our dishes and loved every single one! The only slightly negative thing I can say is, the swing seats could do with a cushion. Re-visited, have to say, it’s an amazing culinary journey every time. You order and share so many dishes with differing flavours.

Food lovely, nice staff and very nice decor inside, the set menu was a good option to try some different dishes and everyone was stunning. Definitely going back

Hi I made a complaint about the Sheffield branch of Mowgli, received an apology but no sort of compensation or remedy to our experience. I will leave my complaint down below - Firstly, the service we received was awful, the staff were very rude and abrupt with us and told us there was no space for us when the restaurant was empty, we then booked a slot online for 10 minutes time and they told us they could not find our booking for 20 minutes until then finally stating they found it and hadn’t refreshed their page. We asked for water for our table over ten times during the course of our dinner and was told they would bring it over right away in which they deliberately did not the entire 10 times until I went up and got it myself. We were given dishes we did not order and whilst only asking for one rice and one roti our server brought over and charged us for 2 each! Even though we only asked for one. Our food when it came was placed on the table with no comments from the waiters and they did not even communicate with us. We are of Indian origin and it felt very racially attacked, we were nothing but lovely to the staff but did not even receive a smile out of them once. We finally received our bill and was handed a bill of £200 when our bill was only £70 and after waiting 20 minutes for a waiter they finally realised did not apologise and just said ‘oh’. When we paid them we received no thank you all we received was ‘is this the money?’ And upon leaving not even a thank you we were completely not acknowledged. We noticed that the staff members were perfectly fine and nice with the caucasian diners but as they were so rude to us - the only ethnic people dining - it felt racially charged. We even paid the service charge which I now regret doing so because it not only upset me but my elderly parents too as they came to visit me whilst I study at the University of Sheffield.

Prettiest restaurant in Sheffield, good prices and great food! Lucy and Sadid were both very accommodating and friendly, offering us vegan menus at the door and making sure everything was good. Wait time was short also- thanks to kitchen and great bar staff

We visited Mowgli earlier this month and thoroughly enjoyed our food. Service was amazing. We were served by Sadid who explained everything very well in a nice, friendly manner. Ambience of the restaurant is great. We will definitely visit again if we travel to Sheffield.

First time we have ever visited and we will be coming back and would recommend anyone to try it. The staff were really helpful, more than happy to talk through the menu and make suggestions. Food was so fresh and incredibly tasty. A particular mention to the staff members Marcie, Grace and Sadid for their excellent service.

Amazing evening at Mowgli as always! Our waitress Lucy made us feel so special on my birthday and was so lovely to chat to. The food is always great but the staff and atmosphere make it the best place for special occasions in Sheffield.

Had an amazing time having dinner here last weekend! The food came out quickly and was so tasty- our waitress Lucy was so accommodating to my preferences and gave the best recommendations. This was such an enjoyable experience and I can't wait to visit again soon!

To start it looks beautiful inside with the lighting. The food was lovely we went for the sharing menu at 25 quid a head, was great value for money. Our server Sadid was brilliant and really helpful. First time trying Mowgli and we will definitely be coming back! What a lovely date night.

Sadid was very nice and friendly, we had a good time. Some of the food could do with abit of salt but that’s about it.

Service was great, we were hosted by Sadid and taken through the menu and how the ordering works. Food and drinks were lovely, would highly recommend the gunpowder chicken! Plenty of gluten free options as well (including gluten free ice cream cones!). Overall had a really nice time and will definitely be back in the future.

Such a hidden gem right at the end of the road! Came in for my anniversary and my girlfriend absolutely loved it. Service was very friendly and made us feel special. Food was cool little portions which we shared. Loved it!

We booked by phone and were told 4x adults and 1x child could sit on the swings near the widow with an extra chair on the end of the table - sitting on the swings was the only reason we booked as our 4 year old saw them earlier as we walked past. When we got to the restaurant the lady who 'greeted' us said it's not possible to put a chair on the end of the table with the swing chairs. She didn't offer any alternative suggestions.. or any apology. Just repeated 'its not possible' and that head office takes the bookings.. not the restaurant. She kept repeating this until my Dad and I honestly felt like leaving. We stayed.. but wished we hadn't. The portions in Mowgli are tiny.. (each portion is in a single layer from a 4.5 inch tiffin.. in India / Asia 4x layers = 1 meal) - so you have to order around 3x of everything plus rice at £10 each. The 'concept' is that all the portions are too small for a single person.. but they suggest "you should share them".. genius! Our bill for 4 people and a 1x 4 year old (without drinks) was £180. Food was average. Better off with a local Indian but take your own fairy lights. Not impressed at all. Our host Sadid was a really nice guy and an asset to the place though - props to him.

Great evening celebrating my 7 year olds birthday. Everyone was very welcoming. Food was amazing as ever. Special shout out to Sadid.

Been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile so decided to go for our anniversary and I'm so glad we did . We were greeted with a very warm welcome from Shaun and he was really helpful talking us through the menu . Both him and Kasia were so friendly. The food was excellent we picked 6 street chat dishes and loved them all , the chef even put the spicy sauces in a side dish as my husband struggles with spice . Over all we had a lovely lunch and would definitely go back , already recommended to our family and friends

Everything about this restaurant was amazing. The ambiance is incredible and some of the tables have swing seats (we got to sit at one!). The food was flawless - all dishes were flavorful and delicious without overwhelming one another. Our server Rachel was outstanding and really helpful! I definitely recommend eating here.

Highly recommend! Marcey and Rachel were attentive friendly and so wonderful celebrating my birthday. The food is brilliant and they walked us through the menu so we ordered the perfect amount to be ever so slightly too full (which is great as the food is so yummy). I went for my birthday meal last night with my stepdad.. sadid suggested we try the sharer menu which was amazing mixture of flavours and different foods and included a dessert for just £25 each it was amazing value for money and sadid was very tentative and informative alway made sure we had everything we needed and felt welcomed along with another girl I think was the manager.. made my birthday special 5 stars

Food was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of heat, super colourful and beautifully presented. We especially enjoyed the vegan tiffin box; each of the curries had its own unique flavor, and I particularly loved the lentil one. Really great options for vegans! The cocktails were fantastic as well—our mango margaritas were fab! Sadid was also a fantastic host, incredibly helpful, warm, and attentive to my allergies. Thanks for a wonderful evening!

I can't thank them enough. I can't eat tomatoes which is quite difficult in some restaurants. However I explained this to the waitress who straight away spoke to the chef who went above and beyond to check everything for any trace of tomatoes. He even sent out a menu which he had circled the dishes I could have. The food was amazing and so was the service. I would definitely recommend

10th Anniversary dinner. Went on the recommendation of a friend and it didn’t disappoint. One of the nicest meals out I’ve had in a long time. Thanks to Sadid for looking after us.

Our first visit and it won’t be the last! The food was amazing and the service matched this. We were advised well on how many plates to order and how to eat certain dishes. We had the sharer meal and it was plenty and a great mix of dishes. We can’t wait to come back.

First of all the staff need to learn the universal language of a smile. Very somber faces. The restaurant is nice decor. Didn't like the food coming out in bits and bobs. I had the prawn dish....they were 5 prawns and frozen. Heard so much about chat bombs...was disappointed. I was so looking forward to it and was disappointed. Would not return.

Our first experience after my wife had been to the Leeds restaurant. Not overly inspiring I’m afraid Average food the chips were potatoe cubes the fish curry was ok and the lamb just again ok 2 lamb chips with potatoe cubes £13 wow. The chat bombs to start very average sorry will not be returning

Think it won't be our visit to a Mowglis.

We had the most lovely time celebrating our 10th anniversary. Sadid served us and was able to recommend different items on the menu, as it was our first time. Fantastic atmosphere, the food was insanely good and the service was second to none. We loved it! Can’t wait to come back with friends/family.

At one hand Good and recomendable place for a fine dine experience of authentic Indian dishes, on the other hand, it is expensive for the portions you receive. Starters are a must to taste such as chatbombs and gun powder chicken but very limited options. Mains has some good options, but I recommend rice when compared to naan bread. The ambience is very good and servicing is good, as usual it is quite busy during Friday and Saturday nights. The parking is also a problem during busy times, there is only roadside paid parking and a nearby paid parking place.

Nice staff and great atmosphere. Seats are novel but uncomfortable. Food was alright, not really matching the price.

It's ok just for experience nothing special or something amazing. Good was a bit expensive compared to the portions. One time experience is ok just to say yeah I have been there. Also there wasn't much vegetarian options.

What a delight! Food so tasty. Love the tiffin concept which means you can try a range of dishes. Butter chicken is to die for. Sticky chicken and Temple Dhal also recommended. Rachel was our waitress and was delightful making for a pleasant evening.

Lovely authentic Indians cuisine

Amazing food! Amazing atmosphere! Amazing service with a particular shoutout to our wonderful server Lucy, she was attentive and answered all our questions which added to our brilliant meal, will defo be back!

Table for 7 on Sunday afternoon. We ordered all the a few starters (highlight: yoghurt chat bombs), all the street meats and all the curries along with some temple dahl, roti and deep fried breads. Overall, the dishes were nicely put together with some great flavours. When considered as a whole, however, I found the overall palette a little on the sweet and safe side and would’ve liked to have enjoyed some more savory (and fiery) notes in the menu. The temple Dahl was a little too buttery and underspiced; the paneer was delightful as was the mother butter chicken. Everything was well presented and the service provided by Emily was absolutely first-class - a credit to the establishment. I would have uploaded more beautiful photos but the Trip Advisor app is way too buggy for that.
