Shanghai Chef in Peterborough

I was try mostly all Chinese takeaway food in Peterborough and this is the best!! Very nice, big portion never let me down!! Definitely 5 Star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Not anymore!! Really disappointed!! Get old kitchen people back!! Food was tasty, not anymore!! Singapore special chowmain - they never add soya sauce, was spicy and tasty. Now they add like everywhere soya sauce and tasty like nothing special like everywhere else!! Sweet and sour chicken cantonis style it's not sweet enaught, it's sour and taste plain, not very tasty!! Definitely not recommended any more!! Sorry!!

Ordered over £90.00 of food via justeat. The restaurant took the money and updated justeat as delivered, although the food never arrived. There phone number doesn't ring and just states that the voicemail is full. The mobile number detailed is also never answered. If you read the reviews, this appears to be a common occurrence from this back alley take away..Steer clear and try a more reputable business!!

Although very delayed, is it New Years Eve in lockdown so not we weren't hugely surprised. Only downside was the delivery being marked as delivered before it had arrived so we weren't sure if it was on the way or not. HOWEVER, this one of the best Chinese meals we've had recently. Food was great, and the delivery driver was very apologetic for the delay. Would recommend.

This used to be a really nice Chinese until it changed hands. Ordered food at 5pm and never got it. You would have thought a £150 order would have been delivered as a priority but obviously they dont value there customers like the previous owners did.

Phoned up at 5-30 for a meal to be delivered. Told 1hour to 1hour 30 mins. 3 hours later meal not turned up .wont answer phone. Will not be using them again.

Horrible Chinese now. never going back here again and when called to tell the takeaway they said "what do u want us to do about it" I wanted a refund and only got half of the back money back. We didn't get a full refuned as we tried some of the food and then realised it was horrible. Would not get Chinese from here again and would advise anyone not to get from here again

This place used to do nice food but now it's not nice at all. When challenged they are rude and do not take responsibility. #Unprofessional. #mymyhowthemightyhavefallen

best Chinese food ever Amazing take away the food is outstanding , lots of choices of authentic Chinese food. The plus side the owners are wonderful and really friendly

My favourite Chinese in the area! Good sized portions and fairly priced for the size! I live close by so delivery is nearly always before the time given! Never had any problems with my orders either.

After regularly ordering from Shanghai Chef tonight we was disappointed with our experience. We ordered a delivery online at Big Foodie and firstly waited over an hour for our delivery. When the driver arrived he tapped me on the belly and laughed and then asked me to pull the bag of food out of the outer bag. He then put his hand out and I explained I’d paid online and he said tip. This is awful service and after phoning to complain and the attitude towards the situation was also awful. I won’t be using Shanghai Chef again. As a family we regularly use this and it’s a shame the new management aren’t customer service focused!

Food tasted like it came out of a toilet delivery driver banged on my door and woke my two autistic sons did not give me refund from twenty manager did not call back making me 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

This has become a money grabbing takeaway. New owners, new rules, obviously increased prices. We won't use this expensive place anymore 28 July 2018

Food was promptly prepared. Tasted great, really hit the spot.

I had king prawn curry, lovely big prawns but the curry was a let down it was too thick and not too tasty. My friend had beef curry and she said the same as me but the chicken balls were lovely. But we won't be ordering again, but everyone is different

Just made an order which we do most weeks, was told we haven’t been charged for delivery for three weeks and wanted £6 dilivery on top of our food bill!!

EDIT: HAVE ACTUALLY STOLEN MY MONEY!! Confirmed an order, didn't deliver, refused to answer the phone!!! Do not use!! Original review: Gone downhill. Used to be the best in the area, now mediocre and unreliable.

Best Chinese by far. I use them all the time and it’s always hot and fresh, the food is much better quality than other takeaways it really is top notch!

I like it. Cash only. Great food. Value for money. Large menu. Quick to cook it. Free drink or spring rolls depending on order. My fav Chinese take a way.

Really not sure why these have such mediocre ratings, I've ordered from The Shanghai Chef half a dozen times now and have never been disappointed. Favourite dish is the Cripsy Shredded Chilly Beef, it's is the best I've tasted for both taste and texture!!

Disgusting I ordered an hour before closing and they approved it I then rung over an hour later to see where my food was they guy then told me he hadn't had an order to which I told him they had accepted my order I was refreshing the page for the hour on and off to see any changes and they was none but all of a sudden when he checked my order was declined then without saying anything he hung up and now I cannot call back luckily I was going to pay with cash because if I had already pre paid I would take this much further absolute poor service and I will be letting all my friends Know about how poor this is

The food was pretty good, lots of it for a modest price, its a shame about what seemed to be the property owners kids pushing into us and screaming while we were waiting for our takeout.

Good food, fresh, good service, delivered on time & hot. Been going to them for 2 years - love the dry ribs!
