Nearly two hours wait food disgusting

Yesterday me and my partner ordered food. I had hot and sour soup and special noodles. The pork meat in both dishes tasted like expired meat, very bad. My food ended up in the bin immediately and we shared my boyfriend’s. His food was fine (not the tastiest but it least it was edible). I would like to request a full refund given that my health was at risk.

i love the food from here, but the service really lets it down. many times have i had my order within the hour or 2/3 hours later. the woman is always polite, but now it's becoming apparent that the "my driver will be here in 10 minutes" comment is really just them quickly making my order and sending it 30 minutes later. it's a shame, foodwise i've never been disappointed. perhaps it is best to collect it instead.

Decent waiting time and very nice food:)

Got my food around 7pm Friday night, by 10pm I was sweating and projectile vomiting, this lasted most of the evening. The salt a pepper chicken was awful and the pork chow mein was mostly just noodles. This is a shame as the food used to be great. Had a refund refused from Just Eat and haven’t heard from the restaurant.

Waited nearly 2hrs for our order to be delivered happens all the time

Edit an hour later: I cancelled the order through Uber, 10 minutes later the driver phoned and told me he was outside and the lady at the restaurant had said I could have the food for free with her apologies for it being so busy! Food was very nice and they’d thrown in some free track crackers and a big bottle of coke. Haven’t had this happen before so really impressed that they did this. Original review: Food is over an hour late (ordered 2 hours ago). Phoned after it was 10 minutes late and their delivery driver had apparently gone AWOL. Given new ETAs twice, food still not arrived and they have now stopped answering the phone completely, so I have no idea if my order is even being made.

The food took 2 hours and was completely in inedible. The starter was rock hard. The main was tasteless and cold the meat was suspicious. The rice was clumped together in a cold block. The pineapple fritter was raw inside. WORST TAKEAWAY IN THE WORLD. Please please don’t order 🙏

First time in ordering a Chinese in ages and this was on recommendation and so I gives it a shot and WOW!! Best chinese about ATM came hot as well good valve for money

Absolutely amazing food best Chinese in Leeds

Placed an order through Uber Eats this Thursday. Delivery was super quick 15 mins early and the food had so much flavour, would definitely re order again and again and again.

The food was good and tasty, but the service was soo bad and slow. I ordered the food at 9 and got it by 11 at night, i called the restaurant to ask about my order and the staff was so rude and mean to me. I was excited for the food but their poor service and rude behaviour took it all away. Not a good experience

Honestly shanghai is my go to... My favourites are the soft noodles that are just the bees knees and the salt and pepper chicken. Which is seasoned not too much or too little. Always arives before its due and with a smile. Today i made the mistake of ordering my usual from a place with the same name But jesus that place Is nasty.... Thank you shanghai for having wonderful food.

Terrible place. The Sweet & Sour dish was disgusting. The other dish not much better. I only once had a Chinese take-away that was worse, and that was in a remote corner of Britain on x-mas eve.

DO NOT USE. Took the money. No food. Called, she laughed and said “it’s on its way” LIARS!! They need shutting down.

The best takeaway in Leeds by a mile, me and my gf come here every time, the food is always amazing, hot and good value. Wish it was open today as we are starving (I always get the satay chicken, its amazing)

Food was great but it’s so salty, especially the salt and pepper box that we got for family to share. But the portion is good.

Took nearly 2 hrs to arrive, freezing cold, what was tepid at best did taste nice however as we had ordered some prawns we did not dare reheat! Had it arrived hot I imagine some of the food would have been nice! So disappointed!

Cold, chewy and dry, tasteless. Wasn't worth one penny and if I wasn't starving from waiting so long I would have put it straight in the bin. Really amazed how every dish I ordered was so substandard. I ordered salt and pepper chips and chicken with prawn toast. Pretty sure the prawn toast was chicken. Chips were soggy and entirely flavorless and the chicken was chewy and dry. AVOID

I had a terrible experience. My order was an hour late,no apology, luke warm and was ill after a eating. I contacted Just Eat and have been advised to contact FSA. Their is alot lacking with this place...

Food took two hours to come, we phoned and were told that it was on the way but it still took 30 minutes after that. It was cold by the time it arrived (unsurprisingly) and was really quite bland. Save your money or go somewhere else… so many 1 star reviews!

Absolute disgrace! Ordered food,they confirmed it should be with us in 1h 20mins I started calling after 1h 30mins and no answer,called 20 times. Requested text on Just Eat,nothing!

Shockingly awful! Food was cold and clearly days old. Items were also missing. It all had to go in the bin as it was inedible and not safe to eat. We called the takeaway to rectify the issue. They were rude and refused to send any missing items or sort the issues. They did not care in the slightest and refused any refund. Worst food I have ever received.

So so shocking. Please do not give these people your money. Food was bad, like really bad. Wish I had seen the multiple 1 star reviews before I placed the order! Please stay well away

Had 35% discount on Uber so tried it for a change from our usual one. Ignore all the other reviews. Best Chinese we've had in years! Proper Chinese

I had char sue missing from my order I wasn't happy and I've called them and nobody is answering I kept ringing for the passed 20 mins don't think ile be ordering from here again

I never do reviews but the food was actually disgusting and nobody was answering the phone. I waited almost 2 hours for the food to arrive and it just wasn’t worth it.

Waited 3 hrs for delivery. When spoke to someone they had an attitude then cancelled order. Stay clear

Its absolutely joke !!! We are waiting for the food 3h today when we call to restaurant woman say “ this is no my problem I don’t care “ unprofessional approach to the client !!!! We do a first and LAST order here !!! there was one great disgust….. the person who answers the calls should absolutely not do their job or change it, since they cannot service the customer !!!!

We order food for first time through uber eat. I dont think will ever order again or let anyone order from there. Food was abosulately horrible. Not even wram its just cold. Roast duck curry which was a disgraced. Smells like went bad few days ago. But look at it anyone can say its taken out from frezzer and just Heat up to send. Chips which seems few days old and cold. Seaweed with suger. Paid £31.90. Most funny part was we waited over 2 to get the food delivered.

Customer service was really good however some of the food tasted a bit weird so won't be ordering again.

Wish I read the reviews first, food was so bad 😭 Firstly they forgot my prawn crackers and drink The squid was so tough and inedible The chow mein was meant to be tofu but literally had chicken in it (I think they’d tried to pick it out but I found 1 bit of chicken in it) The hot and sour soup was almost solid it was so gelatinous Dread to think what the state of the kitchen is in

Food didn't turn up after we payed for it. Didn't want it anyway, it stunk last time and the beef was like wet carpet.

Appalling Chinese takeaway food matched by their appalling customer service. The worst tasting Chinese food that I have ever ordered. I tried to call and offer polite feedback. The call was handled terribly. Avoid.

The food took around two hours to come. When I called up to see where my order was they were quite rude and just said “it’s gone it’s gone”. When my order arrived the food was cold. Overall I just think it was really poor quality and I probably will not be ordering from here again. It sounds like recently I got new owners so this is probably not a place to visit anymore.

Originally I liked the place but the portions got smaller after a while, delivery took longer and were not polite when u spoke to them, then they decided to charge a service charge on top of the delivery and charge you for the bag they brought it in...back to Cherry Tree for me, better all round...

If I could rate 0 I would the absolute worst takeaway I’ve ever ordered from the order came 2 hours late the food was cold the order was wrong and the food made me wanna throw up just looking at. Whoever runs this places must have some loose screws in there head and must be the biggest scum in the world. I would rather eat food from the bin.

Just ordered £30 worth of cold inedible food and waited patiently for over an hour and a half despite being told it would arrive within 45 minutes. The driver got lost twice and had to ring to be guided to us, then laughed as he said 'better eat that quickly, it'll be cold'. Rang this 'lovely' place to advise the food was cold to be told 'the driver says it felt warm and we won't be doing anything about it'. When I told them i was going to leave a review they laughed saying 'yeah yeah yeah' and hung up on us. Avoid this place like the plague. Plenty of decent takeaways in Leeds, just not this one.

We ordered from Shanghai Chinese on Uber eats as we have eaten from them in the past and we loved the food. We decided to preorder for 7-7:30 on the app around lunchtime the same day. We were really looking forward to it and at 9:15 we were still waiting and had a notification that they had cancelled our order. Not impressed and ordered from somewhere else instead. Don’t expect to preorder and then be cancelled 2 hours+ later, they clearly knew before that they weren’t delivering our food.

Been ordering from them for a few years now since living here. Always good quality and delicious food. Really glad they re opened again! They always deliver super quick to my door as well.

Really nice food. For the last few years we've rarely ordered chinese food as frequently disappointed. Shanghai is authentic chinese takeaway. All freshly cooked with good portions. Best chinese food I've ordered in at least 10 years in Leeds. Delicious.

Great food, I'm picking and loved the Salt and Pepper Chips. Food was not quite ready on time, but they throw in a free drink, without asking and where apologetic.

Normally great food. This time it was tasteless. Batter on the chicken - soft, tastless rice and the sweet and source sauce... the less said about that the better. Maybe the chef was ill or something. Overall very unpleasant. Food was also late.

Horrendous service, food was 50 minutes late and turned up stone cold. Food had been spilt in the bag and vegetarian food mixed with chicken. Called up to complain and 'Shanghai Kelly' was so rude and laughed at us down the phone. Do not order from this disgraceful establishment.

If I could give no stars I would! I ordered 20pounds worth of food! The chips were over cooked and very crunchy, the chicken was not what we ordered so when we rang back the owner tried to belittle us, we were passed from one employee to the other then the woman owner said she would re cook the chips and chicken but we asked for a different type of chicken and she refused even thou it was cheaper then the chicken we first ordered! She started been rude so my partner asked her to come and collect the food and we would like a refund, she refused to do so and it ended up in a argument with her and my partner, she then said she would give us half our refund back and we agreed on that, then she called us 3 hours later saying we are only getting 5 pounds back even thou she agreed half and we didnt eat any of the food because it all taste bland and was cold! The chicken curry was very over powered with spices, normally its lovely, I used this place regular and only had minor problems lile they sent the wrong food or they didnt send all the order but I will not be going back here and I will be telling family and friends to avoid this place aswell! We tried to be reasonable and calm and for the owner to send the food we asked for but she continued to argue and be rude!! She then ended the call by saying I'm not arguing with you I know who you are!! What she ment by that I dont know!!

Hands down THE BEST Chinese takeaway in Leeds. Eaten at most chinese takeaways in Leeds over the past 4 years and this without a doubt is the best. Customer service is amazing, food is amazing (every single time without fail), quick delivery.

this is the only chinese I will order from now. Every dish I've had has been of very high quality, especially the chicken satay and the chicken in plum sauce. Can't fault it. Everyone else who's tried this has said it's brilliant.

Me and a colleague decided to give it a go, have always walked past this place but today was the day we fancied Chinese. Was served by a lovely young lady who introduced us to the lunchtime menu. Decided to both go for the set meal 1B dish, this way we got to try a number of different dishes. Food was lovely and you get a really good portion. Highly recommend this Chinese and we will be coming back.

This is honestly the best chinese ever!!! I never write reviews but feel the need to do so for this one! The only one we go to and it never disappoints!!
