Tasteless and very small portions

Estamos invitados a tomar nuestra propia bebida y lo hemos estado haciendo durante unos años. Esta vez, sin embargo, cuando la esposa agregó su propia coca sin cafeína a su Bacardi, se le apagó. Dijeron que ella debía comprarles el refresco a pesar de que no lo almacenan. Cuando señalé esto, todavía insistían en que no podíamos usar el nuestro. La mesa de al lado todos estábamos bebiendo cero alcohol Guinness, que es otro refresco que no tienen, pero esto estaba bien. El personal estaba luchando para obtener el concepto de lo que estábamos diciendo, pero no importa que hay un montón de restaurantes asiáticos en la zona para que tengamos nuestro curry.

After my recent review of The Sizzling Lounge in Bingley I’d like to thank The Shama Bingley who amazingly delivered last night due to The Sizzling Lounge been shut. Although the delivery was a hour late that I thought was not going to arrive due to the weather conditions. Although I had asked if they were delivering as of the weather and was told yes. To my delight it did arrive and I totally understand the delay and my understanding and i express my appreciations. I really enjoyed the curry and also appreciate the extra popadoms and sauces. I still stick with my review I put up the other day. But I like both places that offer different tastes and variations. So I recommend the Shama Bingley too. It’s good to,support 2 local curry restaurants.

Después de mi reciente revisión de The Sizzling Lounge en Bingley me gustaría agradecer a The Shama Bingley que increíblemente entregó anoche debido a que The Sizzling Lounge fue cerrado. Aunque la entrega llegó una hora tarde que pensé que no iba a llegar debido a las condiciones meteorológicas. Aunque le había preguntado si estaban entregando como el tiempo y me dijeron que sí. Para mi deleite llegó y entiendo totalmente el retraso y mi comprensión y expreso mi agradecimiento. Realmente disfruté del curry y también aprecio los popadomos y salsas extra. Todavía sigo con mi crítica que puse el otro día. Pero me gustan ambos lugares que ofrecen diferentes gustos y variaciones. Así que recomiendo el Shama Bingley también. Es bueno, apoyar 2 restaurantes de curry locales.

I ordered at 7.55 and the delivery was made at 9.52. Almost 2 hours is unacceptable. The app should give honest estimations as I would not have ordered had I known it would be so long. It was too late to eat by the time it arrived. Very unhappy.

I've still not recieved my order even though I placed it 1 hour & 40 minutes ago. I was also told 12 minutes ago that my order will arrive very soon, yet it still hasn't arrived. The restaurant it literally less than 1 minutes drive from my home. This is the first & last time I'll order a takeaway from The Shama, even though I've dined in their restaurant for years

I was offered a free pickle tray and popadoms but then charged for them.

The curries were really lovely. The keema rice too. But the Onion Bhaji starters, were burnt black. There was too much oil in them, that leaked out through their containers and the box. But apart from this still lovely.

Great food and speedy service. Very accommodating, so just in touch with them if you are going to get slightly late.

Tuvimos nuestro trabajo de Navidad doo tonite en shama. Increíble servicio, la comida fue genial con todo el personal. Sin duda recomendaría shama, me decepcionó un poco cuando me volqué en la cuenta, parecía que no se apreciaba. La cuenta con propina era mucho dinero. Pero no puedo echar por tierra la experiencia.

El Shama ha sido un accesorio en Bingley durante muchos años. Desafortunadamente no es tan bueno como solía ser en este momento. La comida es variable, como me ocurre con todos los restaurantes asiáticos, pero Shama parece ser un poco inseguro en este momento. Por ejemplo, hace poco tuvimos un korma de verduras que estaba bastante caliente para un korma y había poco de ese sabor a korma. No malinterpretes, la comida está bien en general, pero podría ser mejor. El servicio también está bastante apagado - mano en este momento como si los camareros simplemente están haciendo un trabajo, en lugar de tratar de complacer a los clientes. Hay mejores restaurantes asiáticos en Bingley en este momento

Best Curry for miles.. lots of choice, lovely atmosphere. Staff are very attentive, and the prices are very reasonable too. We live in Northumberland now but have to go to Sharma when we visit family.

Nice place, modern adm great range of food. But my veggie curry was literally tiny. Once I’d eaten 5/6 slices or courgette it was almost over. Other curries looked Ok, if nothing special. It is BYOB which is a major plus point!

food was top notch as usual but one star off as the mixed biriyani had no prawns and looked like it had egg white in it? which seemed a bit odd. was wetter than usual too. as a meal it was good but not the standard I'm used to

Average food … chicken livers for starters a bit on the bitter side … Heard that this restaurant is busy and good but by the standards of a takeout for me nothing to write home about.. Will be leaving it out on our next curry encounter.

Pick up a takeaway tonight mixed starter parts luke warm to cold .mains ordered two chicken karahi again luke warm had to drain the oil off ,naan bread cold an rice I ordered a no show !! Very disappointed not worth the money

Food was cold and very small size of food.

Not ordered in a while from here and what a total disappointment from previous meals . Portion size was really stingy, hardly filled the tiny tray . Keema Dopiaza .. pretty average taste and counted 3 onions .. the name dopiaza does mean onion ! The Saag Murgh again very bland and little or no spinach . Both curries were more or less cold , this used to be a really great curry house but the establishment seem to have cut corners and really poor value for money. Even the mint sauce was awful

Fantastic food and fantastic service

I've lived in Bingley for most of my life and used to go to the shama after each night out. I now live in Huddersfield and I've tried all the curries over here ,seeking out a madras that may even come close to the shama. There isn't one! Joy to come back and visit family ,and to get my tonsils singing again at this legendary resteraunt. Well done guys and thank you.

Perhaps we chose the wrong items on the menu, but our meals were much milder than expected.

La comida es agradable, el lugar es como comer en una cantina con luces de neón alrededor. El personal es amable. Teníamos una mesa grande y dejamos una propina muy generosa. Mientras el gerente del mostrador estaba contando el pedido para asegurarse de que todos pagaran, simplemente terminó de hacerlo diciendo “ok, ya puedes irte”.

The portions were very small and the price was high. The food was good.

The delivery was fine but the food just wasn't very good. All the starters seemed a little undercooked and the vegetarian korma was tasteless. I've eaten at Sharma a number of times and this didn't seem to be the usual standard.

Mi único problema es que, como se anima a los clientes a traer sus propias bebidas, ¿por qué esto solo se aplica al alcohol? Como no bebedor, podría considerarse discriminatorio...

Service very friendly and efficient. Plenty of choice from menu and enjoyable food. Quite busy for Wednesday,but we always book. Took our own alcohol and table water provided. Would recommend.

Due to arrive at 19:05 but took a phone call to the restaurant at 19:20 for it still to arrive at 19:30 despite it saying it had been delivered at 19:05. Quality of food was good as always but delivery time was a joke.

Very nice food but odd service there were about 10 employees (not an exaggeration) all stood about some on their phones. Not really doing anything. We had to go up to the counter to pay and considering how many people there were the service wasn’t very good.

The restaurant was very clean, the furniture and decor were immaculate and the food quality was excellent. On the 'not so great' side the vegetable samosa starter was very small with a minuscule salad portion. The main course chapatis were way too thin and perhaps the thinnest I think I have ever seen in any Asian restaurant! The waiter service was too overbearing with constant interruptions and was way to abrupt, (borderline rude) when clearing the table at the end of our meal.

Food not nice both curries tasted and looked like tomato sauce. No spice or difference in flavour between the paneer balti and karahi chicken. Both watery and bland. We use the Shama regularly and this was definitely nit the usual standard.

My absolute favourite curry house. The staff are wonderful, the portion sizes are huge and the food is always top quality. I can’t recommend highly enough!

As a returning customer, I find the food consistently good, but the portion sizes are shrinking while prices are rising. A serving of two vegetable samosas now costs £5. Curries, served in small trays barely sufficient for one person, are priced at £12 each, excluding naan bread or rice. I can get similar quality for a better price elsewhere, so I don't think I'll be ordering from here again.

Disappointed with our order tonight 😔 normally the food is amazing from here but tonight wasn’t - the chips weren’t even cooked properly. Very disappointed

Ordered Chicken Tika on Naan x2. Great value and large portions. Wish I’d found the kebab section earlier as it’s so much fresher than other takeaways in Bingley.

Didn’t deliver Paneer Tikka starter. Sent 2 chicken tikka instead. My wife wanted Paneer as Vegetarian.

Mi familia va al lugar para llevar. El personal es genial. Siempre obtener el pedido correcto y muy amable al llegar para la recogida o al entregar. La comida es increíble, los popadomos son crujientes y las salsas son muy buenas (cebolla roja y mango son tan agradables). Dansak curry es tan sabroso, así como el pollo tikka balti saag, tiene que tener Chapatis con él! Gran lugar para un curry, sin duda recomendaría!

Take our order This is a restaurant so you can eat in. Can bring your own booze. Portion sizes have definitely reduced recently. Ordered 3 weeks ago and they were twice the size! Definitely let it down this time. Don’t order again. Food delicious though.

Ordered a take out. I’m sure portion sizes just got smaller. Used to be very generous. Good still great but you are basically paying what you used to for less. Won’t get take out from here again.

Good food, just a shame it's so noisy,possibly a change in decor to help the acoustics. I had Karahi Chicken, portion size was good, not to spicy nice flavours coming through. The family garlic and coriander naan was tasty.

Order on the way at 20.39, showing as delivered 21.27 - it wasn’t. Apparently delivered somewhere else though the driver didn’t know where. A replacement order arrived fairly quickly and the food was good, the driver was still confused by the concept of our address which is pretty straightforward. Probably won’t order again as 2 hours is a ridiculously long time to deliver from a restaurant 10 minutes away.

Lovely spicy curries. Good ingredients. Negatives are Chapattis too thin. Pricey.

Ordered a curry to pick up and eat at home to find a hair in my main meal (Handi Chilli Chicken). Tried to email a complaint but couldn't find an email address so called the restaurant. Explained the situation and they guy said they'd send another which never arrived. Disappointed as usually a nice curry. Definitely put us off and ended up throwing the lot away and wasting money.

We’ve lived in Eldwick for 17 years and have driven past the restaurant multiple times but just never went, so we decided to order this bank holiday and wow were we impressed! It was something else, full of flavour absolutely fantastic food and all warm and stayed warm! Bang on time delivery too!

One of my favourite curry houses, the madras here is excellent 👌🏻 Keema madras, garlic naan, mixed starter (veg samosa, paneer pakora, shami kebab) and pilau rice. Place is usually full Friday and Saturday night so if you don't book prepared to queue. Great atmosphere and friendly attentive staff.

Pros: very tasty food; owner came to talk to us and he was chatty and genuine; prices reasonable. Cons: very busy and a bit noisy; bright lights and no music; bland looking building; tricky to find parking spot.

First time here and the food and service was great and can't be faulted. The waiter wasn't very friendly and seemed like he didn't enjoy his job. The restaurant is very bright inside and was packed tight with customers. The noise of people chatting was that loud that I had to nearly shout whilst in a conversation with my freinds. I would probably go again but the atmosphere lets it down.

Used to be one of Bingley's best - but on our last visit, this was clearly no longer the case. Waiting staff seemed so disinterested - that's what struck us first. Pointed at a table - menu's thrown in front of us and waiter walked away. It felt like herding cattle, rather than customer service. We almost walked out at that point - but we were hungry and aroma in the place was enticing. After a long wait we were offered poppadoms and pickle tray; but no drinks order or interest. Anyway - we Ordered food and this was slow in service. Restaurant was quiet as it was Sunday evening. A table that came after us to be seated received starters before us - to give an idea how slow/dis-interested our waiter was. Sizzling starter was pretty nice, if a little dry. Kept us going during the long wait for mains. Mains were less enjoyable - lacking spice and authenticity. Naan bread wasnt the best either.... average at best. No one checked on feedback of mains - so hence offering feedback here. We paid up and left promptly. I dont think i would go back based on food or service. Clearly that have the capability to handle large groups - if service could be improved. Nice that you can bring your own booze - but we were driving and ordered soft drinks. Hope you can improve staff attitude and moral to demonstrate some pride in their cuisine and for the business to succeed.

Not been here for many years. Thought I’d try it seen as i was in the area and I’ve gotta say it’s the worst curry iv ever had ! I got the chicken balti and my partner got the lamb rogan josh which she said was really weird tasting !!!! Mine was sooooo bland, boring and pale looking without any taste whatsoever ! If I wanted a cheap microwave meal then I’d have bought one from the co-op which in my opinion would have tasted a lot better ! £25 for an absolute pile of pathetic curry that looked and tasted worse than a microwave meal and I’m not joking ! I’ve been eating curry’s for the past three decades and I’m absolutely stunned ! I want my money back I’m absolutely fuming. Cheap horrible food and wouldn’t know a curry from a salad ! The only decent thing was the Chapatis. Avoid at all costs if you’re looking for a real curry 😡

I had a chicken tikka main course which was dry & tough. My fellow diners thought their food was bland. One may take one's own drink which is nice but there are better curries in Bingley...

The food was good quality, though maybe portions are a little small. The place was busy, and had a good atmosphere. I like that its a BYOB as it keeps the cost down. It did take ages to be served though, we didnt get given water at first until we asked and it was one bottle for 14 of us. We had to ask twice for more bottles.

Eat here alot, and if we don't eat in we takeaway at least once a week.

Absolutely amazing, food was out of this world, very friendly staff, who were run off their feet, because it was so busy. Definately on top of my list on places to go when I'm next in Yorkshire!

Ordered 5 chapattis to go with 2 curries and they sent 3 that were cold. Not good enough as no rice at home so one of us just had to eat curry with no sundries.

I have asked for a table near the window on the last 2 occasions I’ve booked this Restaurant they have never said we couldn’t have one each time I have been told a larger party has booked the seats on arrival to the restaurant Really disappointed as we have been coming to this restaurant for over 35 years first the Jamuma then the Shama I think it’s more like a cattle market by getting people in and filling the tables far too quickly Very Disappointed
