Worst takeaway in whole sponden a d derby very unhygienic and owner and staff very rude and cheater

Poor Management, Delivery driver turned up, turned around in the car park the went box to top of the street sat therefor 5 minutes with his Mate, Then came to car park, Sat for 10 mins in the car park of the block of flats, Then rings to say that the foods here, No garlic bread which was ordered whixh they were aware of so they delivered it after, Rung up to complain, No compensation, just said they will speak to the driver, had a 3 year old waiting for her Garlic bread,, Then proceeded to Hang up the phone, Also took over an hour to deliver Poor Costermer service, Poor delivery Drivers, I would not recommend, I will not be ordering from them again, Absolute disgrace and No compensation what so ever.

I don't know why the negative reviews for this place. Food always fresh and hot. They are very accommodating and a friendly bunch. I enjoy the chicken korma while my daughter pizza and cheese burgers. I've never had a single issue, and if I did they would rectify it. They do deliver, and apologise if late. I often collect, and have never had to wait longer than 10 mins.

Great food great service if you have a kebab. Pizzas are awful. No taste or flavour and topping just drops off. Price point isnt the best so not an every weekender takeaway

Okay food but potholes outside are atrocious. I’d rather drive elsewhere further away than drive to Shalis to avoid the damage to my car

Best kebab I've ever had. And I've had a lot of kebabs.

First time using the restaurant. Was disappointed they don't deliver so ordered food at 6.30pm and told it would be ready by 7.15pm so we got there then. We had to wait another 35 minutes for the food while our friends, arriving at our home had to wait outside because we weren't back. The food was OK, though the Chicken Tikka Masala had a perfumed flavour. We'll get it delivered in future as we usually do.

Sean is the most polite person, he’s always friendly and professional when ordering, I don’t know what they would do without him. The food here is amazing and not expensive either, definitely would recommend

Pizza is really good. All the food is good but the pizza is the best. The staff are great nothing bad to say. I've been going here for 20+ years and never had an issue. Great after a hard day or a good drink!

Food is really nice but the last 2 occasions that I've ordered from here (in person, not over the phone) they've given me the wrong order, despite correctly repeating my order back to me when ordering and when they bring the food to the counter. Even more bizarre is that both times I've been given vegetable curry instead of the lamb tikka Karahi / chicken biriana that I ordered on these occasions. Didn't realise until I arrived home 10 minutes later, by which time I was too hungry to traipse back and order again.

So hard to order confusing order don't go through

I've ordered pizzas from here a few times and they've been nice. However last 3 times they have not been so good. The pepperoni is always over cooked to the point where its burnt and chewy . So last night I left a polite message on the comments asking them to try not to burn the pepperoni and guess what. It was the worst its ever been. Black and crunchy and horrible. I had to take it off to eat it . Waste of 10 quid. They clearly don't read what you ask or just ignore it. Won't be using again

Ordered a chicken kebab, cost £9 and was the worst we’ve ever had. Minimal chicken (which was so dry and burnt), salad was obviously not fresh and the chips were just tasteless. Won’t order from here again, don’t get a kebab from here if you’re expecting good quality.

Honestly just had the best pizza I've ever had from here, keep up the good work. Had a large pepperoni and chicken fyi.

Ordered food on there website for collection, waited over an hour and on the website it still didn’t say it was ready to collect. I rang shalis to be told that my order had been ready for an hour they didn’t think to ring me on the phone number that I had provided when I ordered. They said it was a glitch with there system and that they would remake all the food. Having then gone and picked it up brought it home for none of it having being remade, everything was soggy, stone cold and the doner pizza I had was burnt. *AVOID THIS TAKEAWAY AT ALL COSTS*

My son has got food poisoning from this place. Be very careful eating food from here, especially the pizza' Yes, unfortunately it was the pizza. I would not maliciously put a bad review. That was all he'd eaten all day. Within hours he was very ill.

They don't answer the phone portions are very small

I've ordered from Shalis last night the above via just eat app. I've order from shalis for years since the old David started it. I must say its certainly improved since Chef took it on. I asked via message on just eat app to ask if they could spice up the curry. The food arrived hot and was mouth watering good (Hot) he added just enough spice to give it a fantastic kick.. Many thanks again.. On your outstanding service and high quality of food. Keep up the good work. I'd highly recommend food from Shalis checkout there New menu. You won't be disappointed. Just had a takeaway delivered. Absomjtely amazing. We had meat samosas, meat puree, tikka, shish and dinner kebab with nan. Fresh and delicious!

My first time to Shalis, chatting with chef, a nice guy. I was very surprised chef got fresh dough from fridge and made the pitta and then cooked in the Tandoor. I’ve had many kebabs from all sorts of outlets all over UK, I have NEVER had one where the pitta was freshly made for each kebab sold! Will definitely come here again, the kebab (Donner) was good as was salad, too much for me, but enjoyed leftovers next day.

Ordering via Just eat ...is it me or are standards slipping? Ordered a doner kebab ,that came without salad or sauce even though I requested it! And a shish kebab, came with minimal salad and only a few pieces of meat. Not worthy of £15 ...won't be using them again.

Jus tried the new menu, had the mega peri peri burger with some cheeky chicken strips on the side, my partner went for the tikka shawarma kebab, Absolutely amazing these guys never disappoint. 👌

Diner kebab , no large or regular option Naan bread superb , hot n fresh Would be better if meat n salad was put inside the naan and wrapped up like normal , not meat n salad in a polystyrene box with naan folded up on top , don't like it when served like this Donner is a fiver , like i say no size option but what your given is a small portion of meat , not very impressive . If upped they're portions they's have. 4 star rating

Was a fantasic curry n kebab place the last 4 month the kebab meat is rubbery and the curry is unrecogniseable wont bother again

Absolute garbage . Got here in 20 mins yet was still burnt and dry as a bone . Me and kids shared a family kebab everything was dry even the donar ! Wife had a shish with 6 pieces of tiny burnt dry shish and a portion or soggy bland fries all for the meagre price of 30 quid . Absolutely bland and very dissapointing will be the last time we use them . Not a stitch on what they were 2 yrs ago. Utter scandalous. Dont know how they even have the minerals to serve it . If i could give it no stars i would !

Late order, so I call to ask where it is and its still in the shop....well done shalis..... try not phoning customers back to abuse them when they cancel late orders. Joke of a business...STAY WELL CLEAR OF THESE DISGUSTING INDIVIDUALS.

So disappointed. Their pizzas used to be great ordered one tonight and it was just rubbish really over done so cheese was mainly a brown colour. Rang to let them know, the guy on the phone just basically disagreed with them saying they all go in for the same amount of time so... so I'm going out of way to ring you up and pretend it's not very nice? He just said he will tell his boss no attempt to resolve the situation. Not using this place again.

Although we order a lot of food from these guys, tonight's kebab was tiny tiny pieces and burnt , phoned and told them but just got told " I will tell the manager" not heard anything back.

Food is always tasty, whether it's the pizzas (good), burgers (good), kebabs or curries (both excellent). Friendly guys. Delivery is usually when they say it will be. Price is on the slightly high side, but the quality of the food makes it worth it. Plenty of places cheaper, but not many better.

Just had a delivery from Shalis (two kebabs and a pizza). Now I’m a fan of this place anyway, but this food was SO good I just had to write another review (5 star). Thought I’d check their recent reviews and can only say this..... Ignore ANY reviews less than 4/5 stars. They may well have been written or en outraged by competitors?? Still a huge fan. Keep up the good work, guys 👍👍

Please read the whole review as updated later the same evening Oh dear. Not used shalis for a while and after seeing a few good reviews thought we would give them a go again. NEVER AGAIN. After ordering online it stated 1hour 10minutes until delivery on a Tuesday. It came 20 minutes later than stated. Gave the driver a tip. On opening the bag we were a chicken tikka kebab short and the food was cold. Not warm. Cold. Tried to phone shalis over the next 30 minutes to let them know we were food missing but not once did they answer the call. Strange that.. I understand mistakes can happen, but cold food, food missing and not answering the phone for over 30minutes (gave up trying after 30 minutes) is just out of order. A bit like there quality and service. Shame on you Shalis. In these hard times you should be trying to encourage new customers instead of making their recent experience there last. Your loss im afraid.🤔🤔 Update.. The owner knocked on my door shorty after posting my review (he was delivering around the corner and noticed the review). He couldn't of been any more apologetic and couldn't understand why no one was taking any calls. He assured us he will go straight back and rectify the missing item and find out what went wrong. True to his word he returned within 30 minutes still apologising for the previous mistake. He didn't just bring the missing item, he returned with the full order which was just cooked hot. I now take back my previous review and thank shalis for their swift response in rectifying the original problem. Like in my previous review "everyone makes mistakes sometime" but at least shalis went above and beyond to rectify our take away delivery experience. We will be using you again after all. Thank you shalis 5 stars applied. 👍

orders wrong everytime we order then when they forget something they lie and make out you didnt order it..plus few jelapeanos on a kebab is 1.50 extra,place has gone stupidly expensive and downhill

I'm really sorry to make a bad comment as we have used shalis for years but tonight our food was very poor , I counted 5 pieces of chicken in my kebab, it was burnt , over done on the red onion hardly any other salad I ended up getting some of out the fridge, I never put reviews but my order come to £30 , I expected it to be worth the money

Im absolutely disgusted with the way i was treated in this takeaway. For 15 years we have always used Shalis as we have found the food the best in Spondon and have a takeaway as a treat once a week. The way i was spoken to last night as a pensioner really upset me and will no longer be returning to the takeaway. My husband is hard of hearing and there had been a confusion over the order after explaining my husband is deaf the worker replied thats not his problem the way i was spoken too was intimidating and unprofessional and they have lost some good custom. Fine if your ordering over the phone just dont enter the building.

After using Shallis for years . If you tell people that you can order food until a certain time then do it. Poor show in my eyes. Have now turned to Alvaston Kebabs and the food is great . Fed up of being turned down .

Ordered a meal 2 mixed grills NEVER AGAIN 90% BURNT JUST WARM DISGUSTING

Food arrived on time but was cold. Pizza was crushed in one corner of the box, like it had been on its side during delivery. It was that cold the cheese had gone hard. Kebabs were nice enough. Chips were cold and soggy. The paper bags that were individually wrapped around the food fell apart they were that wet. It had clearly been prepared, cooked and then just sat waiting...

Been a very long term customer of shalis.. Up until recently they've been brilliant... But my food has turned up Cold after waiting Two hours I've found hair in my food,the salad is unwashed,the sauce's are watered down and the naan bread is too hard to eat. They ripped me off and sent me the wrong item yet charged me full price... When asked to fix the issue I got rudeness and an attitude... I'm extremely disappointed in shalis they have disgusting staff and the food is awful lately.

Found it quite expensive, for the amount you got, not enough to share, was very nice, but just not value for money.

My order today chicken masala tarka daal and rice. The chicken was inedible covered in a sweet pink sauce. Quite unpleasant Not my idea of chicken masala. Very disappointing. Its a no from me. The tarka daal and rice was nice.

Just like to say I have ordered twice now both for delivery , a Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi with pilau rice and a Donor Kebab with chips.Didn't have to wait long for my order to arrive . Its the best fresh take away food I have had in a long time . The staff are very friendly , both on the phone and the delivery driver. I will be orderering from here again soon .

Shalis Takeaway. Fantastic food I ordered a shish/ Donar mix with a small Cheese Burger. All freshly cooked and nan was made in front of you. Chef fantastic always smiling and helpful good staff and drivers too. I'd recommend coming here for a take away or delivery menu on-line and just eat I prefer to see menu then order direct over the phone unless there any discounts on just eat.. Never had a bad meal from here.

Literally the best kebab I've ever seen and eaten, wouldn't say over priced at all as you can tell the quality of meat is noticeably better than anywhere else. Have always found the staff to be polite and professional, and accommodating for special orders. Massively underrated on here. Go here for curries and pizzas too as they're also the best around.

Fairly quick delivery, the curries we ordered were beautiful and full of flavour. Decent size portions too.

We have some very good friends around the corner from this business and we have had a take-away from here on numerous occasions. The food is always hot and tasty and ready on time. If I lived closer to this business, I would sell my cooker :0)

Kebabs are very good, cooked fresh to order and the quality of the chicken and lamb is great. Not the biggest kebab you will find but just enough. The pizzas are amazing as well in the particular the Indian pizza. If you're going for a kebab have the shish and tikka mix.

Stopped ordering from here years ago but our usual takeaway very busy. Small portions, tight on salad and only one option offered for a sauce. By far the least value in Derby. Although it tasted ok, others beat it hands down, I think £6.80 for a mix of Donner and Shish is a lot especially for the size,. Won't order again.

Special kebab and chips with cheese fit for a king

I must admit i use this place a lot and absolutely love it, everthing is cooked fresh to order an have never had a bad meal yet, yes they sometimes forget the odd thing but it is rectified immediately. If you haven't been there, make an effort to go, you will not be disappointed.

Please, PLEASE try to ignore any bad reviews of this business. I’ve ordered King Prawn Karahi 3 times in 2 weeks and never been disappointed (on one occasion I drove up there in my slippers to compliment them). Ordered Kebab from here and asked for salad and sauce when it arrived it was absolutely covered in Garlic Mayo! My husband cant eat this so we rang to explain it was wrong and they wouldn't listen! So angry because over the years we have spent quite a bit of money here and we have always enjoyed their food but they put the phone down on my husband when we argued that the order was not correct, the owner saying i don't get things wrong! Clearly you do and if you get things wrong and to completely cover a kebab in garlic mayo would have been a specific order from someone just not us! I have complained through hungry horse who we ordered through and can honestly say i will never, ever order from you again and will tell everyone i know not to either because if you had just been willing to admit your mistake we would have able to accept it, however, the attitude and the complete dismissal by the owner after taking our money and refusing to change our order, was completely unacceptable! Terrible.

Reliably good food. Get extremely busy at peak times on prime nights. Always best to pre-order and recommend collection over delivery. Pizzas, kebabs, burgers and all Indian food is good.

Absolutely terrible! The driver rang us at around 7:30 to say he was lost - we stayed on the phone with him for ages, offering lots of help. We got another phone call at around 8 and he still had no idea where he was and kept repeating information we had already told him was wrong! We placed the order at 7:00pm is and at around 8:30pm we get a phone call from just eat to say they had cancelled the order...just like that! We had no further communication with the driver -they just cancelled our food which we had been waiting an hour and a half for! We had guests round that night and then had to think of something quick as we were all now very hungry ....and mad!

Waited an hour and half for our Curry. When it came they had sent no rice and it was not very warm, the curry was very watery.Rang up and complained they offered to send some rice out,but didn't fancy waiting another hour and half for it, threw it in the bin, definitely won't use these again.
