One of the goto pubs in Sheffield , their beer selection is superb. Beer garden great too.

Cracking real ale pub with loads on offer. Would have been 5 stars if the dark-haired lass behind the bar didn't have such a terrible attitude, particularly towards men. I would make a point of not going back if I knew she was going to be behind the bar.

On a recent visit to this establishment I ordered a pint of Deception which unfortunately ran out.I was served the dregs from the bottom of the barrel which looked like pond water I asked the young inexperienced barmaid to change it for an alternative drink her reply was extremely sharp "What do you want me to do about it?" I asked in a polite manner but the response from her was extremely rude.If you want to work with the general public leave your bad manners at home!!!!

A fantastic pub to finish (or start) a night out in Sheffield. Even though the city has an embarrassment of riches as far as pubs go, The Shakespeare is an absolute must to visit. Great beer, lovely staff and amicable clientele. Pubs don't get much better than this. Thanks chaps.

Fantastic selection of beers and a nice atmosphere, as long as you are happy with somewhere packed on a Saturday night. Staff were disinterested and blunt throughout, even when it was quiet at the start of the night. As it was heaving I cleared the glasses off our table before we left, but the lady on the bar gave me look of disgust and crinkled her face at me as I placed the glasses on the bar. Made me laugh but yeah, not great service. The black pudding pork pie and mustard was great though.

Honestly, just always been a great place to go. Even relative to other pubs nearby. Can take it however I want. If I want to chill, there's space enough to do so. If I want to socialize - there always seems to be someone to talk to about the beers on tap. If I want a beer garden, there's one of the biggest in the area... Can't sing it's praises highly enough.

If you're looking for a delightful evening at the Shakespeare Pub in Sheffield, let me regale you with a tale of what you might encounter: Adam, the bartender. From the moment we crossed the threshold, Adam's demeanor was a curious blend of disdain and annoyance, like a tragic Shakespearean character who took a wrong turn and ended up behind the bar. Ordering drinks felt like a scene from a comedy of errors. Adam's huffing and puffing could have blown down a house of cards. His attitude was so sour that lemons would blush in his presence. But the real climax came after we paid—Adam, with the subtlety of a Shakespearean villain, turned to his colleague and dubbed us a "horrible group of people." Ah, the eloquence! Adding to the charm, Adam seems to have a deep, emotional attachment to one particular shirt. Every time we've visited, it's the same shirt, as if he's starring in a one-man show where the costume budget was slashed. To the management: Adam's customer service skills could use a rewrite. If working behind a bar doesn't bring him joy, perhaps he should exit stage left and find a role more suited to his temperament. Until then, I suggest potential patrons avoid this pub unless they're keen on experiencing their own Shakespearean tragedy.

Good vibes. Great ales. Lovely beer garden. Lots of character and history. Fun vibes when busy and cosy chill vibes when it's quiet. Never tried the food but always a good ale on tap.

Great beers, great venue for an intimate gig. We went to see the brilliant Sterling Drake.

Cracking little boozer. I’ve tried every sandwich on the bar here. Ham and mustard Cheese and pickle Ham and cheese Also had a little pork pie on paddys day. Was a pretty great pork pie. Some lovely ales on tap and fridge is well stocked. Regret not grabbing one for the train, just didn’t want to leave. Bar keep let me charge my phone too what a gentleman.

One of the best pubs in Sheffield. Good range of cask and keg. Well kept cask and a very varied keg lineup. Good sized, multi room pub with some nice little nooks and crannies. Friendly atmosphere. Good outdoor areas too.

Has an excellent range of beer, particularly keg. They often have very rare beers I don’t see anywhere else in the city - right now they have a De Struise collaboration I’d never heard of. Do note it gets really busy at weekends. Standing room only.

Amazing selection of beers and a friendly staff. The pork pies are also probably the best in the area (although a bit more expensive than others). Good range of cask and keg ales, and they even keep a house line of Tegernsee helles lager on 🍺

Our first visit there last night. Everything you want from a good traditional pub. Very welcoming informative staff. Wide choice of ales, beers and whisky's. Full of character with lots of nice rooms/areas in the pub and a lovely beer garden. Live entertainment events upstairs. We didn't have food so will give stars for food on another visit. We'll definitely go again

Hadn’t been here for a couple of years but it’s thriving, a hit with the locals and the students. Beer as decent as ever.

What a great pub this is love it in here

Its a beer place. I went for wine and it wasn't great. Low quality wine that gives you a massive headache the next day. And I could taste the bottle had been opened for quite some type, it was not freshly open. I went for a second glass and took my first one to the till (as in to help) but I was served my second dose of wine on the same glass. There is quite a lot of space and a good environment overall. Very typical British pub. The beer garden is big an nice.

My first visit to this pub as a guest DJ for Room At The Top . I arrived to a brass band playing in the beer garden with a happy crowd listening in . The bar is stocked with a great selection of Ales . The service is prompt and friendly . It is a nice old style pub with a great welcoming atmosphere . The function room upstairs is a good space with a decent wooden dancefloor . I had been recommended here before and it lived up to it's great reputation .

A "proper" pub with lots of little rooms and separate areas, plenty of cask beer from locally plus guests, and a big range of guest craft keg beers from pretty much anywhere! Huge range of whisky too.
