Shakes 'N' Cakes in Aberdeen City

Ordered two milkshakes from this store for the first time today. Found pieces of eggshells in one. Never again.

We have ordered from Shakes and Cakes several times in the past with no issues however, I was incredibly angry to find my partner had been eating some of their ice cream that appeared to be crunchier than your average scoop of ice cream. Upon further investigation, we found small glass chunks throughout the four scoops we had purchased, of which, my partner had eaten most of by the time we realised glass was in the ice cream. I have attached a photo of a piece of glass I pulled out with my fingers and ran under a tap to ensure we were right. Incredibly dangerous and I can't even fathom how this is possible. Will definitely be reporting to the council/local authority.

This takeaway has went down hill so much and provides no quality anymore. The cups and straw quality has also reduced and the cups split so often with my most recent order going all over my floor from it splitting as soon as I unwrapped the cling film. I would recommend highly avoiding shakes and cakes

Ordered via Deliveroo. It took less than 10 minutes to be delivered and stone cold on arrival (crepe, so should be warm). Paid £12 for a cold single crepe with 6 thinly sliced small bits of strawberries and about 8-10 small bits of banana, each costing almost £2 each. Extremely disappointing to receive as was very much looking forward to a yummy treat.

The desserts we got were unreal, the staff there were welcoming and extremely nice, highly recommend.

I recently visited Shakes and Cakes Spital a dessert lover's dream. Every bite is a burst of flavor, from their wide range of crispy waffles and crepes. The care in presentation is a visual treat, and the cozy ambience. The shakes are also very good overall I had a great experience visiting this cafe and would love to visit again soon and recommend it to my friends.

Waited half an hour for a cold panini and greasy, measly portion of chicken, I didn’t even wait for the rest of the order to come out. Before asking for a refund. The girl behind the counter was the only member of staff on the premises. Don’t waste your time and money going here! The Ellon shop…

I've been frequenting shakes n cakes for quite some time now, indulging in their delightful ice creams and waffles. Recently, I treated myself to their Biscoff waffle and crunchy waffles - absolutely divine! While I've sampled waffles and desserts from other places, nothing quite compares to what shakes n cakes offers. Their entire menu is fantastic, and I find myself almost addicted to their offerings. Highly recommend!

I visited your Ellon shop yesterday. The ice cream was good. However, I had an allergic reaction when I was driving back up the road to Peterhead, and ended up being treated at Peterhead hospital. Just to make you aware, you really need to make sure there are no sauces from a previous order included as an added extra in the next customer's order! Whatever your cleaning procedures between customers are, may I suggest that take another look at that.

What a beauty! Lip smacking desserts and selection of toppings are just wow! Fruits are quite fresh unlike those frozen or dehydrated ones served otherwise. Will go again whenever I am in Aberdeen!

I stumbled on this undiscovered gem right in our neighboorhood. I was happy to see how clean everything was. Everything I tried was bursting with flavor. Staff is jolly, there's an Indian chap Afaann he is my favourite! Find him in your next visit! I would eat here everyday if I could afford!

My and my boyfriend decided to order some milkshakes, we ordered at 11--11:20pm. We usually love shakes n cakes but when the delivery driver for shakes n cakes opened the door. I was immediately greeted with anger and rudeness. The employee started shouting at me "DO NOT ORDER AFTER 11:30 WE ARE CLOSED. DO NOT ORDER AFTER..." and he kept repeating it till I closed the door on him, very alarmed and honestly scared. This man was immediately aggressive even when I tried to be nice. Safe to say I will never be ordering from here again and I urge others not to either. Ive also had terrible service in the store too with rude and disrespectful staff.

Super blonde middle aged (30ish) woman that works there is so rude. Overcharged us, blames us for her miscommunication/language issue, then charged us more for her trouble. We asked for 2 cones with one scoop of banana and one of chocolate. She put them both in the same cone??? Then went mad at us and refused to fix her mistake so we had to dump one of the cones. If you want decent service to go the other one. Hi. That’s not what happened she said “together?” And we thought she meant pay together. Despite the fact we said 2 waffle cones, she gave us one. I get you have to defend your staff but she is a very rude and standoffish woman. She’s lied to you and you’ve believed it. In fact me and multiple people have had issues with her attitude. The further fact that she refused to fix it it worse. Maybe you should put in some CCTV so you can see how badly your staff treat people. Weird because ALL the other staff members are so lovely. Good luck with her. I’ve read further reviews and many low reviews all agree your staff are so rude. Shame are your deserts are half decent.

Bewildered from what I saw last night at Shakes n Cakes at Spital. I was sitting enjoying my waffle (which was actually quite nice) and then I casually looked over and saw an employee take a mini ice cream spoon and scoop some ice cream directly from the ice cream on the counter - and then eat it. Didn't think much of it until she went in for seconds...with the same spoon! Then thirds... Then fourths... And FIFTHS. I looked at the waffle in front of me shocked to believe that it might have been my ice cream and left the shop pretty quickly after what I saw, and my friend can vouch for this too! 🤢

Great hospitality, ice cream was delicious

The below incident occurred on late Friday afternoon, 24th of September 2021. I followed it up with the local authority's Environmental Heath department, the response from which is included at the bottom of this review. On the occasion in question, I visited the establishment to buy a relatively upmarket ice cream cone. At first, the vendor stayed outside of the establishment’s door with apparently another female colleague, smoking a cigarette, although I waited at the counter to be served for a few minutes. Once the male vendor did return, I had placed my cone order with him. As a first concern, I observed the vendor fail to wash his hands after returning from outside from smoking before serving me, and actually there clearly was no consideration on his part in this regards whatsoever. I then placed my order for a cone, and the vendor made clear payment was due prior to food service, as is common. I therefore paid in cash: a £5.00 note. The vendor said he did not have sufficient change. Two ‘tips’ jars of coins sat prominently on the counter - one jar labelled ‘Boys’, the other being ‘Girls’. There was a sign in front of them stating words to the effect of ‘some say girls are more generous giving tips than boys’. The vendor therefore secondly dug very deeply into the ‘Boys’ jar - actually up to his knuckles - and thoroughly rummaged around for enough suitable coins to give me my change. The vendor directly then proceeded to then rummage with his bare hands through the cones for customers in order he could select my intended one, with the intent to use it for the ice cream I had ordered. I was frankly revolted and disgusted. I was therefore forced bring this to his attention and thereto to complain to him refusing the cone, at which point he showed considerable embarrassment. Thirdly, I am unaware if the vendor then had replaced ‘my’ cone into the stock ready pile for customers, but in any event as mentioned he did manhandle this pile directly after rummaging through money in any event, using his bear hands, without wearing plastic gloves. He still had not washed his hands at all, including prior to putting the gloves on. Fourthly, this incident also brings into question whether the two ‘tips’ jars are indeed genuine, or possibly and merely a ruse to increase the establishment’s profits. Both were very full. In cafés one usually sees only a few coins from that day. Two very full jars in competition it seems to me would be an excellent method of encouraging competitive donation. Fifthly, this incident concerningly reflects poorly on the general and normalised culture and standard of hygiene within Shakes ’N' Cakes. As mentioned, it seemed clear to from the actions of the vendor, the norms in place and normalised serving processes these unacceptable behaviour patterns were usual. I as mentioned contacted the local authority's Environmental Health department about my concerns and frankly revulsions in Shakes 'N' Cakes poor standards of hygiene as a business serving food to customers. Their response was the following:- "I am writing to advise you that I have been in contact with the company and discussed your complaint and to reiterate the importance of frequent and adequate handwashing".

I ordered their “dessert special”. The quantity was fair enough but…! I am appalled that why a dessert shop can not make a perfect waffle. There was a waffle with loads of strawberries and bananas on it no doubt I will say again that the quantity was good enough for 2 to 3 people to enjoy but yes my concern is WAFFLE!!! The waffle should be crusty and crispy from outside when you chew it the inside should melts in your mouth. It should be that soft. What i got was a dough very rubbery waffle. Very stretchy very rubbery. Some of the bananas were mushy, they were supposed to be discarded. I am disappointed 💔. I really wish that they work on their waffle recipe.

AMAZING!! We got some milkshakes and cakes and they were so fine. Could not complain about the taste or the prices to be fair. Cookie dough is a must have.

Wonderful variety of waffles. Have tried 2 or three till now as I am stuck on them coz of their taste 😄 can't help it. Sherbet too has so many varieties and tasteful flavours. Must try mango Sherbet in combination with simple chocolate waffle you will love it. 💘 You are awesome 👌🥰

“NHS discount” advertised on the Facebook page. My boyfriend called the shop tonight to place an order for delivery for us and my flat mate. The girl on the phone was extremely rude to my boyfriend and said to him he had to order on the app as she clearly couldn’t be bothered to take the order over the phone. My boyfriend politely stated that we were hoping to take advantage of the NHS discount and she sighed and replied with “ugh bare with me” put the phone down and had us on the other end of the phone for 13 minutes. We heard the people in the shop chatting etc for all this time... this girl clearly had no intentions of returning to the phone to take our order and obviously just wanted us to hang up. My boyfriend ended the call and we tried to call a few other times. In total this all took up 25 minutes. Moral of the story I will not be ordering from here again and we took our custom to Crollas in Rosemount that gave fantastic service. Would not recommend Shakes and Cakes on Great Northern Rd. Down right rude.

Although a bit ££, Shakes'n'Cakes makes shakes that are a real delight - great variety and all that I have tried so far have been really tasty. Delivery (when ordered via their app) was faster than the ETA. And when when ordering in the Union Square and Spital branch and asking for a substitute of an ingredient due to allergy, they were always kind and accommodating.

Shakes n cake waffle special is amazing. Loads of menu options so you can overload on sugar to your hearts content. Highly recommend.

Went to shakes and cakes on Spital road, when we entered the shop all tables were dirty and covered in dirty dishes, we ordered our food and then both employees went outside and left the shop unattended to smoke a fag they then come back inside and didn’t even wash their hands then they served us our food,
