Myself & 3 Friends were recommended to booked Shadohna for our regular Curry. Restaurant is stylish & spacious. Clean & Airy, comfortable seating. Our Waiter put us in a window table for 4, 4th seat scrunched against window. Plenty of room in the Restaurant, we asked to be moved to a more sensible table. We felt we were sat in window to make restaurant appear busy ? Service polite/not pushy. Starters all good, main course held until we were ready. Dishes tasty,savoury , generous portions.side dishes cooked well. One main course only lukewarm. Roti bread disappointing. I chose a special main course, cooked with Sambuka,different & tasty, I would order again. Mixed opinions regarding the meals tbh. All in all an ok pleasant evening. Worth a visit.

We just got back from turkey, soon as we landed at Stansted ordered ou4 takeaway for the whole family every thing was amazing loved every bite!!!

Coming from the north of Scotland and having one of thee best Indian restaurants nearby , my fiancé and I visited Shadhona in Bishops storford blew us away .. the food was excellent .. first class service from “smiffy” loved it

I went for a meal with my wife and another couple and we were very well looked after by our waiter and when we ordered our food I asked the waiter about certain dishes as some I hadn’t seen before and I ordered one with sambuca in it and he checked that I was ok with aniseed flavour of which I am so the food we all had was amazing and cooked to perfection and the whole experience was helped by the waiter

It was okay, but lacking flavour in both the curries, very oily. Very greasy chips and poppadoms a bit chewy. However we would probably try again as maybe just an off day.

Fantastic meal! We ordered a takeaway and everything was amazing. Tried the Tikka Masala and Korma curries. They were very tasty. It got delivered on time. High quality meal, really happy.

a very nice restaurant but food very, very average. We arrived early afternoon & one of decided to have the Sunday buffet & the other ordered from their A’ la carte menu. I would definitely not recommend the Buffet, food choices were extremely limited & lacked any form of taste, both chicken dishes (Massala/Jalfrezi) were poor & had obviously been sitting for a while evidenced by the sauce beginning to solidify. The onion bharjis were way too moist & lacked the crispness associated with this kind of dish. The buffet starter was poor, two tiny little pieces of spiced chicken, so not worthy of a traditional Indian appetizer. My partner chose from their A la Carte menu which was ok, but not close to the standards nor flavors usually associated with a Tandoori dish. A very disappointing experience overall

Excellent local restaurant with super friendly staff and a nice range of classic and original dishes. This family business provides a very genuine atmosphere in a relaxed setting. The Sunday buffet is also very good value for money. Highly recommended!

I'm very sorry to say that I was really quite disappointed by the meal which I received tonight. The service was quick and attentive -helped no doubt by the restaurant being completely empty apart from myself- though was quite forceful in trying to sell more food to me than I had asked for. This, in addition to the old trick of giving me chargeable bottled water rather than tap water without asking for my preference, left a poor impression. The food was disappointing; the curry having clearly been rushed with the pervasive flavour of near-raw pepper and the meat tough and chewy. Beyond that, it was quite bland. The other reviews speak of excellent food and dining experiences, however for myself it was quite clear it had been thrown together in a hurry to serve the single diner who had attended an empty restaurant. I have no doubt they can do better.

We got a takeaway & it was fantastic. Food was really delicious. Ready exactly when they said. Would definitely recommend Shadhona.

First time we have used this as we are new to the area food really thick and almost gritty chips not cooked some still really hard ( yes we have chips with Indian we're weird) and most of the poppadoms tasted weird like they was going stale

My first delivery with Just Eat. It was easy, reasonably priced, the order was on time and the delivery lady was super smiley, friendly and polite. Will definitely use again.

Bhendi bhaji had gone off and had a very strange smell and chicken tikka bhuna was much below par , Butter chicken was edible . It was very unusual as we have had much better experience before

The curries tasted “grainy” and didn’t have much flavour. The rice was quite harsh and not fluffy. We were quite disappointed due to the amount of money spent. However the sides, and naan were really nice.

So second time ordering from this restaurant… 1st time we got sent someone else’s order. Took an hour to replace & they missed the bread & side dish…. 2nd time & honestly genuinely can’t believe this but we found a red wooden jewellery bead in our curry… absolutely shocked tbh! Hygiene must not be a priority here! Just eat refused to refund the meal. We certainly won’t be ordering from this restaurant again!

Went today for the buffet!The food was tasteless!Not much choice for the buffet didn’t enjoy it at all dry up rice !Worse curry’s for choice !The best part was the cold coke !For £10.95 per person u are better off getting a sandwich deal in Tesco ‘Or getting a ready made curry Don’t waste your time going there and most people do as there was no one in there !

Take away order, ordered King prawn madras as clearly stated on the menu, received small shrimps, would have been nice to have been advised. My wife order King prawn tikka masala, ok but only 4 prawns for £12.95?Tarka Daal very watery and Naan bred appears to have shrunk?I know restaurants have had a hard time but come on guys you can do better!

Staying locally on a campsite, we stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant whilst out exploring Stortford. Absolutely delicious food with great service. The Sag Balti was the best ever.

Our second visit here, living so far away makes it difficult to visit regularly. Had a superb meal with extremely attentive service. I am fussy with too much onion and hubby the same with coriander, however,it was no problem in serving our dishes to our exact taste. The staff were extremely attentive and nothing was too much trouble to make our evening a fantastic experience. Will certainly be back fir another exquisite meal.

Beautiful dinner with my daughter and her partner. This is one of their favourite local restaurants and I can understand why. Friendly service that was efficient and effective. I had the Salmon Tikka for starter and it was cooked to perfection, full of lovely flavours. I then had a tandoori king prawn speciality of the house that was equally delicious and full of flavour. So good to go to an Indian Restaurant and decide for yourself if you want hot food or not. I have experienced ordering something that should be reasonably mild only to find it was not. I would definitely go back - one of the best Indian's in the area - thank you to the staff and the chefs!

we had a takeaway from here.. delicious. chicken korma the only thing wrong is the sauce is a bit runny and they could do with a bit more chicken in it. sag aloo potatoes onion bhajis and mushroom bhaji were very nice. definately recommend.

Superb food. This evening we enjoyed an excellent Chicken Dansak along with a Tandoori Chicken Tikka with an excellent selection of side dishes. Highly recommended. In my humble opinion Shadhona is by far the best Indian restaurant in Bishop's Stortford.

Even in a time where we are all missing going out for a good meal with friends and family, the Shadhona staff come to the rescue with delivering amazing food in a safe social distanced way and still with a smile (under the mask of course).We massively enjoyed a fabulous takeaway from Shadhonas which was full of flavour, arrived hot and in good time. My husband even ordered a Cobra too for a full at home shadhona experience. Even during this lockdown they have not restricted their menu like some other establishments have had to do so we could order our favourite dishes without any issues.Thank you to Smithy, Martin and everyone at Shadhonas for keeping us smiling through this lockdown by bringing the Shadhona goodness to our homes. We cannot wait to see you all for a good meal out at the restaurant as soon as we can.Get ordering everyone, you won't regret it!!

The most disgusting curry I have ever tasted! It was watery, had a horrible vinegary taste and did not taste like a curry at all!! (Takeaway)

exceptional meal for two, great friendly , staff, and just general nice people, food was delicious, and with the covid 19 restrictions , it was very pleasant to sit down.

Went for a meal with my partner for his birthday on the 8th October was staying in a hotel not far. I live in north London and looked at restaurants near by it was lovely so friendly and food was amazing was made very welcome as soon as lockdown is over I’m coming back with family.

Have visited this restaurant for Sunday lunch over the past few weeks.Front of house staff member is very polite and helpful when asking for suggestions for dishes.Food is very tasty & plentiful, would recommend dining here to anyone and is very good value for money.

Extremely pleasant and relaxing meal. Service was prompt and seating all well distanced. Ordering optionally online or in person. Nepali lamb and lamb biryani very tasty. Somehow found space for dessert! Toffee ice cream...in a pot. We'll be back!! Soon!

Before Covid we often went to Shadhona for the Sunday buffet which was always very nice and well worth £9.95. Today we went for lunch with Covid restrictions in place. No buffet but you could choose from the standard menu. 1 starter,1 main,1 side,1 rice and a naan to share.Well it was superb. Better than ever, busier but Covid safe. Sanitizer on entry, tables well spaced,waiters wearing masks etc. Just couldn't be faulted. Based on what we had today,I would highly recommend that you visit and enjoy a very good meal with great service

Ate here on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday Weekend.The restaurant is beautifully decorated and large enough to feel safe during these uncertain COVID times.Staff were excellent, not least the Manager Smithy who was warm and attentive.The food was absolutely excellent; we eat a lot of Indian Food and our meal was without the best that we have had in along time.Great prices and authentically cooked Bengal Indian Cuisine.

This is the second time we’ve eaten here in a week. The food was just amazing. Staff very friendly and professional. I’d recommend the Lamb Nepali and the Chicken Tikka Chilli Sylheti, both were perfectly balanced with spice and flavour. My only very small gripe is the menu hasn’t got explanations of what each dish is but I’m sure if you asked the staff would be more than happy to assist.

We’ve tried all of the curry houses that deliver in bishops Stortford and Shadhona is by far the best at getting all of the basics right. Chicken Tikka, Sag, Naan, tandoori all sublime. Go nowhere else

We visited at short notice with a party of 7 for dinner and enjoyed a range of delicious food served flawlessly by excellent staff. The restaurant was humming with other diners enjoying a pre-COVID style good night out but with all health mitigations in place to provide a high level of assurance. Thank you to all the staff who were working so hard to provide such a cheerful, safe, and absolutely fabulous evening for their diners.

I cannot praise this fabulous local restaurant enough!!I have NEVER had a bad meal here and the service is second to none. Even with the pandemic the food standards have not slipped and the staff wearing masks, gloves, providing hand sanitiser around the restaurant and keep social distance.The food is always full of flavour and portions are very good. You leave with a full tummy, a smile on your face and excited to go back.This is a weekly stop for us on the help out to eat out as its so reasonably priced and we get a fabulous meal and experience.Thank you Shadhona, see you soon!
