Alright, buckle up because I'm about to sing the praises of The Shack Manchester! Just experienced what I can only describe as a religious experience in the form of their Salt and Pepper Chicken Burger, and I'm still recovering from the sheer deliciousness. Let's start with the star of the show: that burger. Forget everything you thought you knew about chicken burgers. The Shack has elevated it to an art form. The chicken was unbelievably tender and juicy, coated in that iconic, addictive salt and pepper seasoning that hits every single taste bud. It was crispy where it needed to be, succulent throughout, and the flavour? Out of this world. Seriously, every bite was a little explosion of savoury, peppery perfection. This isn't just the best burger I've had in Manchester; dare I say, it's the best burger I've ever encountered. And then there's the side of Mac and Cheese. Oh. My. Goodness. Creamy, cheesy, and utterly comforting. It was the perfect partner to the punchy flavours of the burger, offering a smooth and decadent counterpoint. Each spoonful was pure indulgence, the kind that makes you close your eyes and sigh contentedly. The Shack itself has a great vibe – relaxed, welcoming, and the kind of place where you instantly feel at ease. The service was spot on too, friendly and efficient. Honestly, if you haven't been to The Shack Manchester yet, you are seriously missing out. Drop what you're doing and go get yourself that Salt and Pepper Chicken Burger with a side of Mac and Cheese. Your taste buds will thank you. This isn't just a meal; it's an experience. Five stars doesn't even feel like enough! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+

Waiter asked us to "kindly leave the table" as some people were waiting but my friend's drink wasnt even finished, and we had a 70 poundd menu. This is not acceptable

Quality scran and drinks. Went for brunch. Had the steak and eggs with a Bloody Mary. One of the best meals I’ve had recently.

Came here for a Sunday brunch - the vibes and atmosphere was great! The staff extremely friendly, very attentive and looked after us. Food was perfect and great value for money!

I came here with colleagues and the lunch I got was so beautifully dirty: I decided on a buttermilk bites Chicken Shack with BBQ glaze and cheese fries along with some halloumi. So filling!

had the most amazing time tonight!! went to the bottom floor to have a couple games of pool and the server connor was absolutely brilliant!! tended to every need of ours and made the experience so worth while!! wonderful place would recommend to anyone

Wow! Lovely cosy environment (especially for Christmas) and nice decor. The chicken and waffles meal was delectable. Deliciously soft and sweet waffle paired incredibly with the crunchy, salty chicken and bacon, complimented by the sweet maple syrup. Such a variety of flavour in one meal, I felt super satisfied by the end!

Terrible place and we have been treated so badly. They changed our booking as we arrived, changed the advertised menu, rude staff with no clue what they were doing and basically overpriced poor value food.

I had high hopes for The Shack but unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience from start to finish. We pre-booked a booth on the ground floor specifically to watch the football. Upon arrival, we were instead sat in the basement facing a blank wall with no atmosphere whatsoever. This completely defeated the purpose of our visit. The food was another letdown. The advertised menu was much larger than what was actually available, and even with the reduced selection, it took an unreasonably long time to arrive. When it did, the quality was subpar. The burger tasted cheap and reminded me of something you’d expect from a budget chain like Wetherspoons — but at least there you know what you’re getting. Service was painfully slow, and the seating was uncomfortable, making the whole experience even worse. We didn’t bother staying to watch the match — we couldn’t justify spending any more money after such a poor start. Overall, The Shack was far below expectations and completely ruined what should have been a fun day. Think twice before booking — I certainly won’t be returning..

We visited the restaurant for the first time this week, we arrived earlier than we booked and was seated immediately , We ordered a baconatter ? And the salt and pepper chicken burger, fries coleslaw, What a feast, they was huge, and the food was amazing, the waitress couldn’t do enough for us, everyone to be fair, Only thing to mention was there was a group of young lads on a birthday doo, they was a little loud but they wasn’t bothering anyone. Would definitely go back and recommend this to anyone

Chill place with lovely staff and superb food. Delicious burger (sloppy Jose) and the best halloumi fries I ever had! My partner had buttermilk chicken bites and salt and pepper fries which I stole a couple of and they were also amazing. Also great coffee!

I visited for brunch, luckily they had a table (seems busy during the weekend). I got some eggs Benedict and shared some pancakes with bacon. Food was 5*, I really love the pancakes 🥞

Visiting the area, Anton and the team went above and beyond to make our experience amazing. We cheekily asked if they could put a certain football match on they couldn’t have been more accommodating on this day. Cocktails were amazing. Highly recommend

Food was palatable, ignored my request to remove jalapeños, my partner said her burger was extremely greasy and was leaking grease. They did not serve the mac and cheese portion but they did then remove it from the bill. Service- was as expected from a bar, good quality and waiter took an interest in our day, giving insight where appropriate. Atmosphere - good for 8pm on a weekend, not overly bearing with those on the drink and decent football screens

Great place for brunch before you start hitting the bars of Manchester. Recommend the Moroccan plate, brisket toast but the chicken and waffles are another level (assuming you like to mix sweet and savoury…..) service is great, great pint of Pravha on draught too!

I just stumbled on one of the best brunch places in Ancoats (Manchester)!! The eggs Bennie with salmon was one of the best I’ve had, the prices were completely reasonable (mine was £12 with the extra potatoes for £2), the staff was lovely ( thanks to Danielle and the brilliant chef Austin) and the presentation was delightfully artistic! The most surprising and wonderful thing was that there was no lineup when I popped in on a Friday at 11.30am. I’m almost sad to share this place… as inevitably everyone will LOVE IT!!!’ Then I might have to wait for a table… which I would still happily do. Brilliant Brunch!! Might have to come back and have lunch for a tenner?! I mean - wow 🤩. Can’t wait to visit again?!

What a great little place. Quiet and comfy and the food, albeit more simple fare, was put together with great care. My burger looked like it was ready for a photo, it was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. I also had the s'mores waffle dessert which was a tasty and unusual combo... including ice cream and pink marshmallows. It was quiet, but not dead... a good mix for a casual date... where you wanted to be very casual and able to talk. Staff was very friendly as well.

Had the best experience with the team on our trip to Manchester! Not only was the food to die for but the service was outstanding! They decided to remake some of our teams food as they were delayed and even gave us complimentary drinks whilst we wait! We will deffo be back... as it's our new fave place in Manchester!

This Bar is bigger than it looks from the outside. There is a lot of space and the cocktails were very nice. The Coke however tasted like water - it really wasn’t good.

It wasn't that great. They messed up orders. There was only one person dealing with all the customers. Food wasn't good. I ordered halloumi, it was so salty. I also had a buttermilk chicken burger. It wasn't that great. Only thing that was good was the drinks.

We visited the Shack for dinner and we almost left at midnight. The fries are to die for and you can’t miss with any of their drink and beers selection

It was a great place for breakfast, just far enough off the beaten track not to have a queue but close enough to not be a pain to get to.

A very mixed (but mostly negative) experience. We arrived at 11am on a Sunday in August 2023. There were loads of great options on the menu which we were really impressed with, and the booths each had their own TV which again I was impressed with. Orders were then not taken for almost half an hour - we were somewhat thankful for getting a bit of extra time to order given how great the menu options were, but half an hour was a bit ridiculous. No drinks arrived for another half an hour - so we were sat with no drinks for an hour total. It was the women’s World Cup final in 2023 but it wasn’t packed out with customers and we could see empty tables. I imagine it was busier than a normal Sunday at 11am, but being a sports bar you’d have thought they’d have made provisions for more staff once they knew England was going to be in the final. Drinks finally arrived, which included three iced coffees but we noticed the milk seemed off. They took them away and made us new ones, but the waitress didn’t look shocked or horrified that we’d been served out of date milk. Once we’d asked how long it would be they did say they’d been telling people at the door that it would be an hour for food (we had not been told this), and they did go to check once we said it had been over an hour and food came promptly after that (but still an hour and 15 mins after we arrived). The food was genuinely good and we were very happy with it. I had the eggs for “daise” with smashed avocado with added smoked salmon and I would definitely recommend that - the portion size was great and eggs poached perfectly. I also tried a couple of the tater tots and felt they were done really well. Prices overall were pretty much what I’d expect. While we were eating we did ask for a jug of tap water which never arrived but we just didn’t bother asking again at that point. Overall it was a good job we were there to watch an entire football match with 13 minutes of added time because the whole experience seemed to take almost the full match. As nice as the food was, I don’t think anything is worth such poor service.

Went for bottomless brunch was seated downstairs it was a bit quiet but it was a sunday. The staff were great and served drinks quickly I would definitely recommend coming here and £40 each was well worth it. I had the burger which was really nice

We attended the red solo cup country night at lost weekend and it was a great time. The music was fantastic, bar was busy but service was as quick as possible. Which was reasonable unless someone ordered cocktails. They take time and care preparing their cocktails so it's fair enough. Prices were reasonable for town and other than a broken door the facilities were fine. It was down a flight of stairs as it is the event venue next door, didn't see any disabled access but wasn't particularly looking. Also hoping the guy who asked me to take his photo sees this 🤣

Our table location was right next to the door so disturbed by foot traffic all meal. Didn't take the deposit off our cheque, if you're going to ask for deposits atleast do us the favour of remembering this and don't make us have to have the conversation. Thought the food standard was poor compared to when we have visited in the past and think it's really confusing with how many different menus there are at different times. Don't mention everything that comes on the wraps and the sub I ordered on the menu so surprised when it had onions on which I would have not ordered if I knew.

I nearly didn't eat here as I fancied a quiet night out but a pub full of football fans wasn't the night we had planned but they all spoke reasonably and everyone made us feel welcome so glad I changed my mind, it was 1 of the best burgers I have had in a long time. I tried some of my wife's chicken that was really good as well.

Awful service and moved table once as it was apparently reserved (with no prior warning). Moved to another area before being basically kicked out for private function at half time of the match. Which was also a lovely suprise with no prior warning.

Arrived at 2pm to get a table to watch the united game at 5.30. They threw us off the table at kick off due to being reserved (no sign on the table at all and put one on after we vacated table), said we can watch the game in the basement bar. At half time kicked us and 20 other people out the basement bar as reserved for a private party (again no information this was happening). Absolutely disgusted with the treatment we received, been there most of the day to be basically moved on due to poor organisation from the management. Won't go again

I came into the basement bar lost weekend on 13th April, a Saturday night, and there were multiple staff around and 1 behind the bar (who had previously been throwing chairs). We waited over 10 minutes to be served during a queue of 4 people. The bartender was incompetent and rude, refusing to make any drink that took too long, even though it was taking him over 2 minutes to pour a pint! He was completely oblivious to what times people joined the queue, just mindlessly choosing people to serve. I will actively avoid this place in the future, honestly the worst establishment i’ve ever had the misfortune of visiting. Update: my boyfriend just tried to order a pint of staropramen, and got served a pint of madri with 25% head. Utterly appalled

I think I would be quicker getting married, producing offspring, and training that foetus how to make a margarita. absolutely preposterous to wait 45 mins for a cocktail. please hire staff who know how to make drinks. you’ll make 10x the profit

Do not go to lost weekend (the bar in the basement) very weird bar with very unusual staff and terrible atmosphere avoid at all costs

I decent place to watch the football. Staff wouldn't allow for the sound to be on for the Liverpool against Sheffield United as United were playing. Completely understandable considering the it's a Manchester bar, but the Liverpool game kicked off 45 minutes before United, so it'd have been nice to have had it on for the first half. They also struggled with pouring a pint of Guiness.

Another trendy bar in Central Manchester close to The Arndale Centre and The Printworks. Lots of lovely cocktails where I had the best cocktail I've ever had, a Coconut Expresso @ £9.50 yum. Friendly staff. Limited beer, but sell Blue Moon, if you like a spiky blonde beer.

Amazing food. I could eat their Avocado Brunch every day. Usually get it delivered and it always arrives perfectly prepared and nicely presented. The herbs they use are always super fresh and that’s a tiny but important detail. Nice place to eat in as well, with a few great burgers. Lovely staff. And to the kitchen guys, thanks for making those avocado toasts so yummy:)

My wife and I went with 4 of our family on a Sunday at lunchtime. We all had different things, which some of us are in the habit of 'trying out'. All dishes were really tasty and well cooked. Good portion size too. Although variations on a theme, as with most eateries now, the menu choices were pleasantly different. The staff were really pleasant & welcoming and the service pretty quick. The restaurant was only half full but very attractive and relaxed. Thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommended.

Delicious food! A bar that does some great grub! The menu attracted us to visit for breakfast and we’re glad we did. There was a little wait but the food made it totally worth it. Would recommend a visit!

Overall was good - there was a bit of a mess up of our order (something to do with a new menu) and we all ended up with wrong food. The staff were more than understanding but the majority of the table ate what we got which was a breakfast baguette / and it was really good!

An absolute great time was had at Shack. Poached eggs and bacon on sourdough was absolutely banging, especially as I made the excellent decision to add smoked salmon (extra £3 but a good portion). The staff were really friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Also, £35 for two meals and four drinks? Bargain.

Popped in on the off chance they were still serving food. Never heard of the place before. Food stopped being served at 9pm so we got our order in quick time and oh my god was it good. Literally the best surf and turf burger I've ever had. The cocktails did the job, tasty and intoxicating. Definitely recommend.

Please avoid the place, bad bad just bad

Booked a table for Brunch on Christmas Eve. Turned up to an empty venue with all the staff stood round the bar so suspected something was up. One of the staff members approached to tell us that the chef hadn’t turned up and they had no idea where he was (he was supposed to arrive an hour ago). They also said that it would take 45 mins before the kitchen would be ready once he did arrive as they had to get everything ready. They told us that they would have called us if they knew but I find that hard to believe on the basis that they could have called at any point between the hour that the chef didn’t turn up on time and we arrived but they didn’t. No apology or anything, we had to go around trying to find another table somewhere at last minute.

The welcome here was lovely. The food, although pub food, was really tasty and fresh. We were impressed. There was enough of it too. Service was a little slow however there was a lot of attentiveness - connections being made plus time was needed to actually make the food (another reason why we feel it was all freshly made). To top it off, you get to watch a bit of sports! I'd go again.

Ordered the cauliflower bites and some fries that came to £12, was informed about half an hour later that there was no cauliflower and so I could only have fries - I was not refunded the difference- I wait another 15 minutes and they bring out a box of chicken- I’m a vegetarian- someone then comes and takes my order again. Food arrives over an hour after ordering, so I paid £12 for some cold and over-salted fries. Secondly - they take a £10 deposit (on top of £10 to play) for pool/darts for a hour but upon asking for the deposit to be refunded you’re told to then spend it on drinks by staff rather than receiving the full refund initially agreed. Strict on timings for 1hr playing time for pool, 15 minutes before the end of your time slot you’re encouraged to finish up early (despite all other tables being unused). Unsure of the exact reasons but saw several refund issues/queries from customers.

Friendly bar staff a great place to watch live football

I came in the other day for some lunch and a few drinks and was served by Elliyah, she was very knowledgeable on the menu and talked me through everything and even recommended some amazing cocktails! She made our experience there very enjoyable and had amazing service.

Had a team meal here for our annual Christmas get together, lovely staff, very attentive and great drinks selection. Food was great and generous portions, would recommend 👌

This was a regular stop when visiting Manchester, haven’t been since early in the year. Called in today with my daughter and I noticed how things had improved. Tables no longer sticky, Fantastic attentive staff, same menu however food much improved. Food now served on plates rather than the tacky plastic bowls they used to use. When I came to pay the bill, I asked what’s changed? A nice gentleman who apparently is the manager not sure if manager or owner but simply said it had changed hands in June. Clearly the new manager/owner who is now in charge has made some great changes.

After seeing the sign advertising 50% off food on Mondays, we made a point to go out tonight to try Shack. The service, food and atmosphere was great and we felt we may have found a regular place to come on Mondays, though when we were charged we were only givin 20% off food. As we learned you need to book in advance to receive the 50% off. The large sign outside didn't mention this and it felt misleading, and after they added a 10% service charge there isn't really much of a discount at all. We left feeling like we had been conned and will likely not come back

Went on a Monday for burger and sides which were great and had 2-4-1 cocktails which were belting! All served by Chloe who was super friendly and welcoming!
