Shabab Balti & Tandoori Restaurant in Cannock Chase

Cannot fault the service, quality of the food, the atmosphere and value for money. We can highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

This is an excellent restaurant. Staff are fantastic, nothing too much trouble. Lovely food. Reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend.

Dined in on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is nice and well spaced out between the tables. A handy car park at the rear. Plenty of staff on shift and the menu had plenty of options. However, when booking we asked for a highchair and we were told they don't have highchairs but they do have the booster seats that strap to a chair, which would have been fine for us. On arrival, there was no spare chair (we'd booked for 8 people and asked for a highchair, so they knew we'd need 9 seats to be able to use the booster seat). We asked for the highchair/booster seat as it wasn't at the table, to be told they don't have them! The waiter then walked off and left us to work out what to do. Additionally, there are no baby changing facilities. Not young child friendly at all. Our food order was taken relatively quickly (poppadoms and mains only) however there was a long wait been the poppadoms being cleared and the main meal. The restaurant wasn't overly busy. The main meal was nice however I only had 4 pieces of chicken in my dish. Not a lot for the price you pay. A member of our party had a mixed meat dish but found it had mainly sheek kebab and not much of anything else. The sauces in the dishes were nice but they were lacking in meat. There's also a 2 for 1 deal advertised on their website for certain days but it's not advertised anywhere in the restaurant or on the menu. Overall, a nice enough meal (even if it was lacking in meat) but not the best experience. Shame.

Visited with family and always a good curry. Food is good and excellent service with friendly staff. Never had a bad curry in here and I love my curries!!

Was a takeaway - we have been here many times over the years but tonight was terrible. Food was lukewarm at best. poppadum's ordered but never appeared and after phoning to complain we got nowhere. Will never have anything to do with them again.

Me and my brother in law, set out for some drinks on a night out and were recommended Shabab for a cracking curry and extras, we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent! I had the Tandoori Murghi Masala with keema fried rice, everything was cooked to perfection, the stuffed paratha was excellent, so fresh and buttery fried bread. Such a nice accompaniment to the main dish to scoop up the sauce! we had a few cobras and several starters with were also excellent, cant fault the restaurant at all, will be coming back for more tasty meals and to try more of the menu. Highly recommended for traditional Bangladeshi cuisine. Thank you to all the team for cooking us a lovely meal and to the waiting staff who were professional and always attentive!

Abs and all of the staff work hard to ensure customers receive first class service and are willing to adapt dishes to suit individual tastes.

Ordered a takeaway at 5.30Pm which arrived at 7.15pmWhen I ordered I ordered 2 poppadoms with the mint sauce mango chutney and onion salad. 2 starters, 2 mains 2 naan breads and a chips. Extremely disappointed as I had to chase the delivery twice then when it arrived we were missing poppadoms! I called to let them know of this error and was asked if I ordered them... obviously I did we had all the mint sauce Salad and chutney arrive. The food was cold the cheese naan was not cooked all the way through and chips were not cooked all the way through, we also had to reheat the curry what a waste of £32 and not enjoyable at all

Food was decent but they pass you a dirty book and pen to put your details in for track and trace. God knows when the book was last wiped down with sanitiser or anything? The book is also weeks old and has everyone that has visited details in it so you may as well pin your number on the wall for all to see. The tables are fairly well spaced but the waiting area is too small and gets busy, they could do with closing off the area by the arch on the left for additional waiting space. One of the waiters had gloves on that hadn’t been changed during my visit, they shouldn’t been worn at all. Enjoyed and escaped without covid to my knowledge

I’ve had a takeaway meal delivered for the first time from here wooooooow absolutely fantastic, I would like to give the chef 10/10 for quantity and quality, really enjoyed it, we had chicken tikka dupiaza madras strength, and my wife normal chicken curry with proper chunky greasy chips, overall the food was great chicken tender not rubbery like so many other Indian takeaways, the order was delivered within the time scale cannot fault the whole experience, even asked and got complimentary papadums thank you very much, will 100 % definitely order again, keep up the good work

Fabulous food delivered. The order process over the telephone was very easy with a very knowledgable helpful waiter.The order was delivered well with in the advised time, it was well handed over, by a very attentive waiter who was really, really, friendly, he said his name was Amimm. The transfer and settle up was smooth and once he was sure we were ok he departed. The food was truly delicious, it was lovely and hot, full of flavour and very enjoyable, I had Chicken Tikka Jalfriezi, my wife had Chicken Tikka Massalla. Both 10 out of 10. Well done Shabab! We had a fantastic meal from the shebab on sat 30 may 2020. The 4 of us each had different meal choice and we all agreed it was the best takeaway we had ever had. Delicious and delivered on time. Excellent service thank you 😊

Recently enjoyed a meal here while visiting family in the area. It was a Wednesday night and empty. Service was very good and attentive overall but some time the waiter did not actually listen, i..e. when asked if I wanted all of my meat dish on my rice, I had said "no, only some", yet the waiter proceeded to empty the whole dish which swamped my rice. Having said that, the food was delicious and plenty. Very nice and clean toilets. Overall a good experience.

This has to be just about the best Indian restaurant in the staffs area.. The food is always excellent, authentic served with a smile.. Abs and his team are just so attentive, but Saturday I would recommend that you book as is always busy due to its fabulous reputation.. They also do take away and home delivery..if you like Asian food this restaurant is a must..

Party of 8 this evening for a birthday meal. Had to wait a 30 minutes for the mains to arrive when they did they were lukewarm with a much smaller portion size than we had in previous visits. We had to wait for a waiter to order some deserts and coffee. Again a 20 minutes wait for three coffees to turn up. All in all slow service and lukewarm food, this is normally our go to restaurant but standards are slipping.

Omg the curry was stunning and very filling The service was rude though and me and my family were cold when we asked they said the heating was broken

It might seem odd to give a "terrible" mark after having a nice meal and a 95% decent experience, but just one bad incident sours the whole affair.After the meal, I was asked if I wanted a coffee. Initially, I declined, then changed my mind. The waiter asked if I wanted a regular coffee but I said, no, a floater coffee. However, a regular one arrived and rather than give me what I'd ordered, this waiter argued and refused to accept what I'd really ordered. He pointed to milk and said I could put that on top. More like "Put up and shut up." Terrible attitude. Ruined the entire meal.

Visited for a friend's birthday on a Friday evening, 8 of us... I am not a big Indian food fan but I must say it was a great choice. The staff are friendly, the service just the right balance to give time to chat between courses, the flavour of the food is spot on. We had poppodoms to start, we all had two drinks each, a curry, rice and nann bread etc and it only cost £17.50 a head. Would definitely go again.

This restaurant is the best you’ll get. The hosts are fantastic, spotlessly clean and very helpful. The curries are the best we have had, lovely tastes. We are repeat customers as there is nowhere near as good as here, we have tried many places but can’t find one better. For me it’s the whole package. Good food, clean restaurant, the owners are very particular and helpful. Can’t go wrong here. Best curries in town (and further out of town too!)

Visited Shabab with my cousin and her daughter. My first visit,they had eaten there lots of times and I can understand why. The curries and rice and naan breads were first class. Service was excellent, waiters were lovely. As it was a Thursday we got 2 meals for the price of 1 so our bill was very reasonable.The drinks were good too. Well worth a visit.Complimentary Drink at the end of meal,Lovely.

Really great curry, guess this was the reason it was well occupied on an early Tuesday evening. Lovely staff really friendly and good with my kids, a great pint of Kingfisher too!

Our family of four stops at this restaurant for an evening dinner and were delighted. The food was excellent, the portions were enormous and the service was first class. I would recommend moving away from some of the old favourite a few of the restaurant specialties. All in all a great experience

This was our first time visiting this restaurant, the food was excellent, my wife said the Dhansak was the best she had had , all served with silver service, good beer and wine, great value for money, I had a naga curry and it was spot on perfect.

Ordered take away from here for the family big order over £50.00 food arrived hot and very tasty. Between us all we had a variety of dishes of the menu and no complaints at all. The chicken tikka was good well just as we asked. Will be ordering again.

Have been going to the shabab for over 15 years Abs & shaf are very welcoming as are all the staff, they're very good at accommodating dietary choices and needs, we even make up our own dishes 😂 cant recommend enough👌

My husband & I have used this restaurant for many many years now, we dine in and also have takeaway food, we have always had top quality food, the staff are lovely, extremely friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble. A few years ago we had a family Christmas lunch on Christmas day, the menu was set with a traditional English Christmas dinner as an option, which suited all members of our party. We don't use any other restaurant.

Can't understand what has happened at the Shabab. Seems a lot of new staff and the service is none the better for it. Did not really enjoy our latest visit. Overall service, food and atmosphere not the same not sure if I will return. Such a shame as the Shabab was always my first choice Indian restaurant.

First time here after having bad experience at another restaurant in Cannock . This was amazing staff were so friendly and helpful and food was excellent and not greasy like some other places will definitely be going again now we have found this place

The food is always excellent. The delivery service is always first class; it is always quicker than the estimated time, and the food is always hot. Portions are generous and one delivery gives two meals.

So disappointing, the Shabab has been my must go to Indian for years but not anymore. The service is not the same and the quality of the food has gone downhill steeply. As mentioned in other reviews, check your bill. I paid the bill as we were in a rush but it didn't seem correct. Checked the cost of food we had had on their online menu. Total was £16.60 and we had one pint of Lager and a Coke. On this night it was buy one main meal and get one free hence the £16.60. We were charged £29.23 just short of the £30 you can tap your card for. Never again, a beer and coke £13, I think not. Will not step foot in here again after years of going.

Had not been for a few years and as the ranking was impressive , thought we would give it a try. Service not great. Pappadoms and onion salad good. Took over 1 hour to get starters. Sparse pieces of chicken shashlik overall below my expected standards. The rest of the party also disappointed by their choices. Curries came around 45 mins later. Arrived already plated up on an old fashioned dinner set. I had shyleti which resembled a thick bolognase type sauce with only a few prices of chicken in. High in salt. Rest of the party also not impressed with their food. Waiter asked if everything was ok and the table fell silent.

We have visited here on three occasions and there doesn't seem to be any continuity, whether this be because we have visited when different chef's have been on I am unsure. Generally the food is ok but nothing to rave about.

Fab food lovely staff. Friends hadnt been before but we recommended based on previous visits going back some years. Can't fault it definitely make it a regular favourite.

Having been a frequent visitor over 15 years and my late father being a lover of the Shebab. I’m so disappointed.... never had a bad meal here. Tonight’s meal was awful. Child’s meal had a dead fly in it and the curry just wasn’t up to scratch.. what the hell has gone wrong here? Will be finding somewhere better in Cannock.. gutted as this was our go to place.

From the first greeting when you enter the restaurant, everything about the Shabab is pleasing. The service is quite quick and efficient, but it is the quality of food that really hits the mark. Cooked to perfection and tweaked to your liking if requested, the dishes are brilliantly tasty and pleasing. Portion sizes are very generous, so you certainly fell well fed when you leave. The menu is extensive and offers some English dishes as well.

Went for a meal with a few friends last night, first time in the Cannock area. Was really impressed with the service which was given. Staff were really friendly and inviting. We all really enjoyed our meals and can not wait for a return visit when we are next in the area.

Will never eat here again. Food was undercooked and lots of hidden extras we were charged for and didn’t ask for.

Called in to Shabab restaurant for a take away meal. I was greeted with warmth and welcoming gestures. I ordered a lamb Rogan Josh, mushroom rice and a plain naan bread. My waiting time was 10/15 minutes So I had a drink while I waited. Abadur the manager spent time chatting to me about all sorts of things while I waited. When I left with my food I was thanked for my order and my hand was shook as I went through the door. I love going to this restaurant. My food was wonderful. Hot, tasty and there was plenty of it. It's amazing place to visit.

Visited the restaurant on bank holiday weekend with a group of friends. Place was busy but we were attended to promptly.

Chicken was rubbery, no flavour in the Currys or garlic bread, and was cold. So I would not recommend as take out.

We have eaten at the Shabab many times over the past 8 or so years. Our friends live in Cannock and often have a takeaway, delivery or actually eat in the restaurant. As regular customers we considered we had a good relationship with the owner...

Can't believe the poor service we have had this evening for a takeaway tonight and how rude the staff were. After useing them for over 10 years eating in or having takeaways the manager was extremely rude and the service was terrible. Sadly I would not recommend them or use them again

Had a meal at the Shebab last night and it was lovely. The food was excellent, the service attentive but not annoyingly so. Could not fault any aspect. We will be back and soon.

Only place to go for an Indian meal. The whole experience of visiting the Shabab from start to finish is first class. You are made to feel welcome and never rushed over your meal. Staff attentive but not overbearing. Highly Recommended.

The chips are the ones where it’s all the ones you usually choose that are fat and squidgy. I’ve decided they do the best Indian chips. Their mixed grill tandoori chicken option is amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection. Everyone enjoyed their curries. Will definitely be visiting again.

The food is very nice and tasty, the service is great and you do not feel rushed to finnish, really do like it here.

My granddaughter chose this venue to celebrate after her Graduation Day and we couldn’t fault the meal or the service!! It was a lovely end to a lovely day and we were pleasantly surprised as to how good this restaurant was!! It was excellent value too! We will certainly be returning!

Definitely worth a visit. The food is always tasty, nice atmosphere although at the weekend it can have large parties. Waiters are all attentive and friendly.

So professional restaurant with great food. Chutneys to accompany popadoms have to be the best anywhere no skimping on quality. Main Balti and chicken courses were superb and served so professionally. Staff are friendly and obliging absolutely the best. Quality has been maintained for such a long time never dream of going anywhere else when I can choose where we eat.

Food over priced for what you get.cheap echo falls wine at ten pound a bottle.very rushed service they wanted you in and out in record time.rude fat owner.will not recommend or revisit.much better curry houses in the area

Called in with wife without booking. As always, fitted us, in although they had a busy night ahead. Food and service fantastic.Have been eating here for many years and the food quality is consistently good as are the staff who treat you like family. Very reasonable drinks prices. The whole place,including ladies and mens rooms,is immaculately clean. One of the best restaurants in the area.

We have been going to this restaurant for years and always been pleased with the staff, service and of cause the food, but lately it is not so good, the last 2 times we have been in the food has been bland and we have had to eat about 30mins to order once sat at our table, think we will give it a rest for a while

Not much to look at from the outside BUT well worth it when you go in. Very pleasant staff helped make our night and meal a very enjoyable one. Very good menu and covers almost everyones taste.

This is my favourite Indian resultant. The curry actually tastes like curry, the service is always the best. So kind and friendly. Portion sizes on takeaway are huge! Dining in is always a decent amount also. Would strongly recommend this restaurant!

Not been to the Shabab for a while so decided it was time for a curry. Still as good as ever. Service is faultless and the food divine. It really is the only place to go for Indian food.

We use shabab quite a lot take away and eat in and never had a bad meal. The staff are always pleasant and friendly and when we have home delivery the deliver is always polite and he always brings a free bottle of wine

Visited here on a Sunday evening around 7.30pm. We had pre booked a table. Was shown to our table promptly and given a menu. Drinks were ordered and delivered quickly and efficiently.Ordered poppadum’s to start then a main meal each with rice and nan bread. All the food was very tasty, hot and well presented. Also had another drink and a sweet each after our main meals. Not sure of costs per meal and for the drinks as I didn’t read the itemised bill I just paid it. They have special offers on three nights a week which is a buy one get one free on the main dishes. Staff were all very friendly and the restaurant had a nice ambience. Will certainly visit here again.

We were allocated a table and I was soon to ask about vegan options. Soon enough a young gentlemen came over and answered all the questions I had about dishes that matched my dietary choices. This gent had a lot of knowledge on dishes without dairy and meat in them as he has a relative that has a meat, egg and dairy intolerance so this helped him answer my questions. As this was my first visit at Shabab- after this experience I would definitely recommend this restaurant and 100% eat here again.

Food is excellent very tasty dishes, they will also make you up mix starters which is not on the menu great to share if you are in a big group.
