Este era un lugar encantador para pescado y patatas fritas, el servicio era genial, la comida era excelente y el personal era increíble. Mi Dios me abrió los ojos. SOLO DINERO EN EFECTIVO. En letras grandes por todas partes. Todos sabemos por qué. Que lleva dinero en efectivo en estos días. Porciones de eglefino pequeñas y patatas fritas pobres. La persona encantadora que me sirvió no debería estar trabajando allí. Horrible. No hice la pregunta obligatoria “¿quieres sal y vinagre? En su lugar, el pedido de £ 30 que consistía en 4 paquetes grandes fue empujado en mi dirección sin una bolsa. Obviamente no quería estar allí. Tristemente esta tienda está en ruinas. Ahora me quedaré en mi freidora. Eso es aproximadamente £ 360 por año que no obtendrá. Mi desvarío resuena de esta persona terrible que me sirvió. No la había visto antes. Persona bastante grande con un jersey de Navidad puesto. Qué ironía. Mantenla fuera de servicio y puedes mantener a tus clientes. Un cliente anterior de 10 años.

Good big portions. Staff really friendly. Food hot and delicious. Placed a big order and was all correct

First time here. Had large haddock and chips. Amazingly priced at £9! Staff couldn't do enough for me. Haddock perfectly cooked flaky and succulent. Chips crisp and fluffy. I will be back most definitely.

El eglefino estaba perfectamente cocinado, en escamas y suculento y las patatas fritas crujientes y esponjosas. Una de mis mejores experiencias de fish and chips. Personal amable y acogedor, no podía hacer lo suficiente para ayudarme! No puedo esperar a volver.

Ayer me atendió una señora extremadamente grosera. Pedimos varias comidas y pedimos curry o salsa con cada uno. Pedí que mi olla fuera grande. Mi esposa le preguntó si las otras ollas también serían grandes porque le gustaría eso. La señora dijo que no estábamos comprando ollas. Estábamos recibiendo "un chapoteo". Nadie dijo que había pedido una olla. Señalé que le había pedido a mi bote que fuera grande. Luego se convirtió en un gran negocio para ella, con un montón de resoplido y soplo, quejándose de que tendría que empezar de nuevo. Mientras nos sentábamos a esperar la comida, el hombre que cocinaba le habló en voz baja. Luego dijo lo suficientemente alto para que escucháramos "No me disculpo". Una dama encantadora.

Expensive. Ordered large cod and large chips. Chips were just enough for a kiddies portion. These cost me £3.40 for large chips, I did question it but they wernt bothered and just asked me if I wanted a fork.

The cod is usually very good but the chips are always so bad either they are cold or so hard they are awful, I think when they go cold they put them back in the fryer time and again throughout the day, I'm done with wasting my money for most of it to go in the bin

Algo le ha pasado a este lugar, la comida una vez fue genial pero anoche tristemente no lo fue. Tengo 2 picaduras de pescado muy pequeñas y empapadas que cuestan £ 1. 40 cada uno, una porción de pequeñas papas fritas que eran secas, insípidas y tenían una consistencia en polvo, además de que eran estúpidamente grandes en tamaño. La única parte redentora de la comida fue la pequeña olla de salsa de curry, que era solo promedio en el mejor de los casos. 20 por ese lote y 10 por una bolsa de papel, ¿por qué estaba este lugar tan ocupado cuando visité? El personal era lo suficientemente amable y el sistema de pedidos era eficiente, pero esto no puede excusar la mala calidad de la comida que se ofrece en este lugar . . . . va a tener que dar a K & L pesca una oportunidad la próxima vez que me apetezca un té chippy, oh querida! !

No Cheesy chips, what's going on there?

Sad to say how dissatisfied I was yesterday with my purchase . Fish ok but mostly batter the curry sauce had lumps of thickener in it I had to put it in a pan add water and whisk to get it eatable but then when I did it was very salty . Chips were the only nice thing fat and on the dark side which I like but maybe they had been left in too long as the staff were dealing with another complaint when we were in . Sorry won’t be back for the money . And as a small business I notice you don’t reply to your reviews which is never good .

This fish and chip shop has gone massively downhill for some reason. I used to sing it's praises but now wouldn't waste my money going back unless I heard of a dramatic improvement. The fish was nice enough, cooked to order, however the chips had definitely been sat there for hours, or maybe even reheated from an earlier session. Some were 'scorched', all were bone dry. If they keep serving rubbish like that up I can't see the business last much longer which is sad.

Staff are useless wouldent go bk ther if u paid is your ment to get the stuff you ask for and not completley diffrent stuff thats sat ther wraped up for god noes how long first and last time ill be ther the chips are rank so is the batterd sausage batterd beef burger was minging the curry got binned give me a completley diffrent cury to what i asked for the one i dont like

Tiny portions at extortionate prices. Small cod the size of a playing card and cut as thin as one too. How is that even possible? Food has no taste. Long waiting times. Staff disinterested. Never going back,

Lovely and friendly 'chippy'. Decent prices and good quality. I like the novel fact that it also doubles up as a 'wet fish' shop, selling fish fillets and cod bites. I will definitely return !

Ordered half a portion cod and chips which was adquate for me. Very friendly staff, which has been my experienc before. The hygiene is of a high standard and the meal was lovely. The batter on the fish was light and crispy and the fish succulent and ready almost immediately.

Ordered 2 x battered sausages and chips and 3 x cod bites and chips. They were poor. The chips were overdone, brown and lukewarm. There was no batter on the chips, despite asking for it. Battered sausages are normally covered in batter so you can't see the sausage. Not these ones! And the clincher was the cod bites. They weren't cooked properly. The batter was pale, soft and undercooked. It should be crispy. I was told by my partner I should go back to complain but I couldn't be bothered. I'll not be back. This was really disappointing as we've had some decent meals from here in the past.

Good chips, very edible. Portion sizes very small, served in a polystyrene carton. Extremely high prices, profit margin in this place must be massive, 5.50 for a small number of chips and a meatcake! Cos were made from 5p worth of potato. Cashier (genuine?) mistake nearly made that 10.50 but was corrected. Vinegar watered down? Oil had the chemical taste of oil that has been cleaned and reused, at the prices they charge it should be 200% fresh oil used in every portion! What were actually very tasty chips was let down by portion size and extreme price. Good product, bad business, charge a sensible price and get 5* every time instead. Reply to SGF reply: offensive that you'd say different chippy, you know the prices and know I'm correct. I'm not in the top 10% of worldwide restaurant and takeaway reviewers because of mistakes. If you don't water down your vinegar, then perhaps get a different supplier, it's way weaker than other chip shops. The chips have the small black speckles that come from cleaning agents, if not from cleaning agents, one has to wonder what on earth they are, perhaps you should look into this? Sorry I didn't analyse the carton, certainly seemed like polystyrene, maybe I should have taken a sample. Point is they're used to give a smaller portion size appear bigger. How long do yours take to biodegrade naturally, as quick as paper? Over a quid more expensive than my usual chippy means it's expensive, a smaller portion size means it's very expensive. Accept what is a positive review, 95% of chippies these days are inedible, yours were actually enjoyable and very edible (as said in original review). Placing you in the top 5% of chippies is a very good sign, but the prices need reviewed and improved.

Very rude staff and greasy horrible chips. Considering this shop boasts about an award on the bill board outside these are some of the worst chips I’ve had. Very greasy and just tasted of oil. The woman who served me was also one of the most miserable people I’ve came across. I can safely say I wouldn’t recommend nor shall I be returning. I’d rather drive to the fish quay in North Shields and go to waterfront, better food and much more pleasant staff.

It used to be one of the best chippies in the NE12 area. Price of fish aside, it just feels standards have dipped.

Have visited this place for years, always been a good chippy but a recent visit was marred by a pugnacious and confrontational member of staff. I can't usually fault the food but as you'll see from the attached photo the standard is somewhat slipping. I'd pass the bad food off as a one off but the member of staff who's attitude in a customer facing role was unwarranted is a deal breaker. Sorry but my business will be going else where.

Normally recommend this fish shop to everyone!! Not no more If you don’t like working in a face to face environment then don’t! Top tip when I customer asks twice for something on the order don’t lie to them to get them out the way!

A nice little takeaway, chips were well cooked with flavourful potatoes. Nice that they offer smaller portions too - the small chips, small fish and small pot of mushy peas are pictured, plus Tarte sauce. It's worth checking out the specials board too. I was a little sad not to see onion rings on the menu, but they had black pudding and haggis there. Pop is a little pricier than normal, so I got my own elsewhere. Will visit again if I'm in the area

Portion size was good, fish okay but Chips tasteless even with boat loads of salt and vinegar on.

Absolutely love this plaice. Different specials all the time. I go out of my way to get lunch here if I'm in the area. Tried hoki last time for the first time, slightly sweeter than cod and cooked to perfection. Love the ladies in there so kind and polite.

Excellent establishment ! First visit yesterday (Sunday 25/9.) but it won't be my last .Fish &chips delicious , service very friendly ,the shop was sparkling clean ! Well done SGF. I'll be back .
