I-Fry in North Tyneside

Poor chips, had been sitting there are hours and very chewy.

Ordered haddock but got something else, very tasteless. My hubby did get haddock and shared with me. Chips so bad, generous portion but inedible. Hard and chewy. Never again, sorry to say

Got a small chips and curry with batter he only put a drizzle of curry on mine and the boyfriend’s chips. The small sausage chips and curry was only meant to be £4 but I got charged £6.70 which is extortionate for the amount you get. The grease on the sausage was dripping out of the box we couldn’t even eat it. Instead of a burger (included in the cowboy special) he gave us a spam fritter. Safe to say we will not be returning after our experience and having reading all of the bad reviews

Went today for fish and chips, Haggis and curry sauce, everything was cooked fresh to order, great portions, good prices and great food. Will certainly be back. I cant understand the negative comments, maybe rival chip shops placing reviews.

What a horrible place this is. Just popped in to give it a try but wish I hadn't. Fish & Chips...??? Dont bother. Fish with soggy tasteless batter and very small portion. Chips.... Yukkkkk. Staff not exactly welcoming or friendly. Just walk another 150 yards down the road to Seashells - a proper Fish & Chip Shop with a good long-established reputation.

Worst fish shop in North Tyneside. Once upon a time it was good here. The place is absolutely filthy, food quality is terrible and so is the service. Absolute bin. No wonder there’s never a queue.

Came for lunchtime special, chips and kebab meat, nice chips but kebab was shredded into almost mince, still quite tasty.

Fish was good as cooked to order but the chips were hard and tasted like half of them were a day old.

Chips you could put some ones windows out with fried to many times batter like concrete on fish mushy peas if you could call them that disgusting. Went straight in bin food was that bad

Stumbled upon this so called fish and chip shop today (Friday 31st May. 6.45 pm) and wish I hadn’t. Bought fish and chips x2 and sausage and chips for £25. I know they’re not cheap these days but the chips and the fish (I assume it was a fish) had been cooked at least 3 times. You would expect the odd chip to have an eye in it but every and I mean every overcooked chip had eyes in them. How can every chip have eyes in them? The fish had black batter, obviously from the bottom of the frier, stuck to it, making the whole meal blend in. As hungry as I was after a hard days work, I chucked the lot in the bin and opted for a pot noodle instead. Never have I appreciated the flavoursome noodles as I ate them. I don’t know the rating of this business but I bet it’s not good. I managed to get a few photos of the disgusting “food” before disposed of them. I hope the owners read this and maybe explain how they can sell rubbish at top prices. They should be closed down.

This place used to be really good. How times have changed! Not for the better either. The basic you expect from a fish and chip shop is to be able to serve decent chips! Not so here… omg absolutely terrible! Got my order home and opened it to find some rather dark brown chips that seemed like they had been refried from the day before or sat for hours. They had to go in the bin … managed to find a few chips that were just about edible but they tasted like they’d been cooked in old oil. Rest were hard, crispy, dried up and terrible. To add insult to injury I’d asked for a small portion of chilli sauce with my order which was charged £1-20 for on top of my order. Waste of time and money as the chips were so rank! Avoid, I won’t be going back and know now why it’s usually empty these days when I pass. Recommend to anyone else to do the same and just pass by. Hungry as tea in the bin, thanks iFry Monkseaton. I won’t be back anytime soon!

Chips were reheated and wouldn't recommend

I called in here on the way to visit the seafront. The shop looked fairly nice, so I ordered 2x Cod & Chips which came to just under £20. The fish had to be cooked fresh so there was a bit of a wait, however, it turned out to be a nice moist piece of fish. The batter wasn't the best I have ever had as it wasn't very crispy, but the flavour was ok. As for the chips, they did not look nice and GOLDEN like some chips I have had. They were a little on the dull brown side and had a few dusty bits on (like ground pepper) which often indicates that the cooking oil or fat has been well used. The flavour was ok though. The Fish & Chips were served in boxes which I greatly prefer over paper. However, the cardboard used may have been a little thin as the boxes did not retain their shape as good as some, and the bases seemed to soak up oil and vinegar very easy making them get a bit soggy. Also, the provided 2 prong, 3 inch wooden forks were absolutely NO GOOD for picking up fish. Bigger wooden forks ARE available with more prongs, so stocking these would provide a better customer service. But if in the area, I-FRY do an ok Fish & Chips, I've had better, but I've also had a lot worse.

Got Jumbo Cod & Chips here early Friday evening. Usually don't stray away from my local fav but had a voucher to use and they weren't on so came here. Food is iFryed to order which isn't a problem for me as guarantees freshness, and afforded the durg a leisurely traipse around the village. Even best f&c are prone to some under-done chips but in my sole (!) experience all were perfectly well done. First glance at Jumbo Cod was it seemed lacking in width, but after further inspection its length and thickness (and flesh quality from tip to tip) made this fish within my all-time best ever catches. The staff were lovely and it'll no longer be an automatic decision on where to go for f&c in Monkseaton.

Worst Fish and chips. Used to be good but the chips I had today nest have been yesterday's refried. £8.00 odd in the bin, what a waste of money.

don’t bother, the place is chaotic with its queueing (or lack of) system, food isn’t the best (to say the least) and the staff are rude!

0 stars! staff so rude (man doing the frying not the young lad) I went to order and was told that he would serve the man who had come in behind us as he was waiting patiently!! It is a very confusing queueing system and I wasn’t making any fuss at all! The young lad was as confused as we were! A lady had already been served before us who came in after us too. Decided not to bother but have had food from here before as live nearby and I would rather drive to Pantrinis as much better, was only calling in as on way home. and thought chips and curry sauce would be safe! Hadn’t been in about a year as previously ordered a fish and it was stinky when I got it home!

Ignorant disinterested staff and seriously cold stale food. I should have known from the empty shop that it wasn't going to be good.

Started really well but as usual standards drop ,pretty hit and miss and some visit's food has been cold .still poor

Staff are really caring. Unfortunately salad is really dissapointing every time. Like basically an empty box, with a couple leaves of lettuce, couple slices of cucumber and 1 tomatoe.

The worst chippy food i have ever eaten. Nothing good to say about it at all £23 for 2 fish and bricks and a curry sauce and it went in the bin, not even joking if id ate that rubbish id of been ill.

Very disappointed with the chips which had obviously been sitting in the warmer for quite some time. The mince pie had clearly been there for at least one day and consequently was rock hard. When I tried to cut it, it just crumbled. The fish cake was cooked while I waited so was excellent. The girl who served me very nice as were the two men but unfortunately the food was at best second rate.

Worst take away I've had. Cold hard chips, with quite a few bad ones. 2 sausages that were totally different in colour. One had obviously been cooked twice as it had 2 layers of different coloured batter. Curry sauce was very watery and no taste. Service was ok. Won't be going back.

This has to be the worse food I've had.. chicken kebab meat was inedible and salad was inside ,so hot and limp. Chilli sauce no flavour and garlic sauce like water . Never again

Just bought 2 fish and chips and the man wanted to charge me £19.20 instead of £13.80 I said to him how can 2 fish be 19.20 if it's £6.90 each He said it's because it's jumbo But the menu tells him that the jumbo cod is £6.90 He wanted to put the extra money in his pocket. Will not go back there again.

Really nice food but the service is pretty bad. The young staff didn't seem to have a clue what was going on and weren't getting any help from the older chap doing the frying. Other staff just wondering around looking a bit lost. Very disorganised.

Bought 2 cod and chips - well cooked, but one cod was very noticeably smaller than the other one - shouldn't have been sold to me. Place was filthy, flies flying about, staff indifferent. Seems like this place has gone downhill.

Ordered quite a bit food from here today including kebab meat and chips, kebab wraps and a donner kebab and never been so disappointed. The amount of meat was the equivalent of one kebab shared between three meals and garlic sauce was like water. Very poor service and food wrapped very badly. Won’t be eating here again.

Staff amazing and friendly food was awesome and the chips,cheese and curry sauce was to die for. Great portion size will definitely be back

Bought fish and chips. Fish was freshly fried although not very tasty and, what was meant to be a large fish was very thin and small. The chips must have been reheated more than once, and some more than that judging by how dark they were. Chips were so bad even our large, hungry German shepherd wouldn’t entertain them. Most definitely won’t be going back. I hasten to add we have used this chip shop since it first opened and the quality of the food has gone further and further down hill.

Had been looking forward to having fish and chips for a treat but unfortunately they were not up to what they should have been. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Fish on small size but edible never the less. The chips on the other hand were cold and quite obviously reheated dried up inedible. They were binned. It’s put me off from using other chippies. After all prices having been increased considerably in past year makes a supper a luxury for some

£4.90 for chip butty is absolutely ludicrous. Chips are crispy and the bun is dry. Won’t be returning anytime soon. With the amount of better quality and reasonably priced fish and chip shops around, its safe to say avoid here!

The wife and I got mince pie, chips and peas, the pie looked like road kill, and had green mold on it, so the wife took it back to complain. The owner told her it was batter after getting an exchange for another pie, the chips were rank and the peas were watery and we will never be using them again🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮

Shop was empty when I went in. Ordered fish and chips and a fish was put on to fry. I asked the assistant if the chips they had were left over from lunchtime and she told me they weren’t. I paid up front and when I got them home the chips, were old, black, dry and rock hard and the fish did not taste cooked properly with soggy batter. I have used this fish and chip shop since it opened but I won’t be going back.

Very good. Nice big bit of really good haddock fried to order and to perfection, with plenty of well cooked chips.

I bought what was supposed to be a steak pie from here but pastry was as hard as concrete & it was totally cremated on inside. There literally was zero filling, just the blackened, solid remnants from God knows how many re-heatings. Even if there had been any filling I wouldn't have risked eating it as it looked as though it had spent days, if not weeks, on display. Shocking disregard for customer health. Have reported this place to Environmental Health and hopefully they'll get enough evidence to close it down ASAP. Please do yourself a favour and go elsewhere

So I thought i would give this place another chance but it backfired on me. Disgusting chip shop, sausage chips with curry £4. The sausage was soaked in grease with the curry 99% water but the worst of it was the chips 🤢🤮.

Battered sausage and cod bites are delicious, chips were slightly over done and the curry sauce was a bit watery. However, it was very polite and excellent service and took about 5 mins in total in the shop. Overall a very tasty tea

Everything is watered down, the gravy was like dish water, the so called garlic sauce was literally white water with zero garlic flavouring. Really disappointed as they used to be the best around.

I used to love this chippy and the chips were always amazing, literally just been there and he cooked me a fresh fish which was lovely but gave me a batch of old horrible chips of which I found about 2 soft ones and the rest I've had to throw away as they were all rock solid and dried up to a crisp, I was very disappointed and was starving as well, so won't be going back again. I've gave a 2 star as the fish was nice and the mushy peas were OK, and the lady on the tills was very friendly, so couldn't fault the service, just the chips which makes the meal really so it was ruined without them.

Ordered fish and chips and was very disappointed especially regarding the fish in that the although the outer part of the batter appeared to be cooked on the inside the batter was still raw and the fish was just about cooked, which resulted in a bit of a soggy mess. Another 5 minutes in the fryer would have made all the difference.
