Dined in the Restaurant Sunday night, whilst staying at the Liner. It's a very nice place, few customers on our visit though. We were offered the A la Carte, menu, and pre theatre menu. Also told we could have Sunday lunch, which we ordered. Waiter returned, no roast Beef, OK chicken. Waiter returned again, no Yorkshire, but we will give you extra veg. Food, service, wine, everything, was perfect. Almost. Ask the chef to converse with the waiting staff more, but can't fault his food.

Me and my partner came in for a drink over the weekend it was not busy and maybe 2 tables of people nobody at the bar when we came in. I waited at the bar while the bar lady stood talking to another staff member for a good 10 minutes. She served us eventually. My mother came in again the barmaid was chatting to another staff member served her 2 of the 5 drinks and continued chatting and eventually gave the rest of the drinks. She didn't take payment my mum was stood waiting up until she decided to sit down. 5 minutes later she called my mum back up. I went to the bar to get a round in there were 2 barmaids now I was stood waiting and both after finishing their conversation left the bar. My aunt politely said id it right for both to leave the bar while I was clearly stood waiting. One of them had already left the room while the newer staff member started screeching I've only just started huffing and puffing and then shouted the manager* who was sticking fridges crouched down popped up saying I'm here. He was just as rude as the other two. He may have been there but he wasn't serving and certainly wasn't looking after the bar as he should have been. Considering how quiet the bar was I would have thought serving paying customers would more important than whatever they were doing. Made no sense the amount of places having to close due to financial trouble and you've got an empty bar with 3 bar staff unable to serve drink. All of the party work in hospitality and we are all making reviews as the management need to be aware of the incompetence. This was in the smaller bar not the restaurant.

I dined here as I was staying on business. I had tried to book a table on-line, the day before, but it advised it was fully booked, so I rang them and they said it wasn't fully booked and booked me in. When I arrived, I was the only person in the restaurant. The menu was vast but in the end I opted for the pre-theatre menu, which I thought was good value. The food was excellent, but the service really let it down. The waiter seemed a bit slow in collecting food, taking orders and even bringing the bill, even after I requested it. On the other hand a young lady, who appeared to cover when he disappeared, was excellent bringing food and the dessert menu promptly. The restaurant did get busier whilst I was there and they allowed people to sit wherever they wanted, which was nice. However. it was getting dark and one lady came down with her laptop and wanted to use it on charge. In order to accommodation this the waiter unplugged a lamp, which made it go quite dark, thankfully I was eating dessert by then. Overall great choices, food can't be faulted, but the waiter let the place down.

We stayed at the Liner Hotel 22-24/10/23 and used the Seven Seas Brasserie and Castaway Bar on the first night. What an experience! The male waiter showed us to a table and the brought over the menu. The pre-theatre menu was not provided to us, I had to ask him to go and get one. After a while he came over to take our order…. Whoops, he forgot his ordering pad and had to return to get it. We ordered, and waited and waited and waited for our first course. I took a chance and went into the Castaway Bar to get a beer, to find nobody behind the Bar. I waited and nobody turned-up so I returned to the restaurant in case our meal had arrived. Nothing there, so a few minutes later I returned to the Bar (still nobody there), I asked a customer and he advised me the Bar lady had locked-up and gone for a break (8pm). I went back to the restaurant and spoke to a waitress who said “this should not have happened. We should have been advised, and we would have covered the Bar”. I got my drink and returned to the restaurant, only to be told by my wife that the main meal had been served to our table before we had received the soup. The soup then appeared, and the main meals were in a holding area under metal trays at the serving hatch. The soup was delicious but my main meal (burger & fries) was not suitable for sitting around. I ate a small part of it, but it was basically cold. The waitress asked me, as they do, “was everything ok with your meal”, and was stunned/shocked, when I said “no, it was cold”! She said “Oh”! left the table and didn’t return until the plates were cleared. No further mention of the problem… All in all, there appears to be a requirement for training in table serving and customer service. I even noticed a waitress was not competent to carry two Eton Mess deserts to a table in one go. She had to return to the tables a second time.

Only went in here out of desperation. We were going to theEmpire and were in a hurry, everywhere else was busy. Barmaid was extremely helpful and friendly and told us what chef could provide the quickest. My son had a child’s chicken nuggets, chips and beans and it was a huge portion. I just had egg mayonnaise sandwiches but they were very nice and served with a small bowl of salad. The actual restaurant next door looked very nice and we will return.

Ate in the brasserie both evenings for reasons explained in my review of the hotel! Menu is what I would call 'small but perfectly formed' with good veggie options. The lovely Dale at reception kindly gave me a 25 percent discount voucher on my first evening, meaning a starter & dessert came to a mere £10, & the following evening a different starter & dessert didn't come to that much more! The food was excellent both evenings & I just had to have a chat with the chefs to let them know how much I enjoyed their dishes. The halloumi salad was so delicious I almost had it the second evening, but went for the bruschetta instead, which I also enjoyed very much. The chefs asked what I had eaten & which of the dishes I preferred, so I mentioned my favourite starter was the halloumi salad (but only just!) & I couldn't possibly decide which I preferred out of the tiramisu & the chocolate fondant, both with luxurious ice cream. I was delighted to be able to chat to & thank the chefs, & they both seemed to appreciate that I did. The ladies who saw to my table both evenings were polite, friendly & very good at what they did. All in all it was a complete pleasure to eat here & I would make a point of doing so if I ever stay at The Liner again - thank you so much to all concerned.

Arrived with family (4 adults, 1 child) for a pre theatre meal (arrived 5 mins late but called in advance to advise). We were seated quickly and unfortunately that is where the good part of the experience ends. After 25 mins looking at the menu with nobody approaching us we asked a passing waitress if we could order. Food was ordered, and starters arrived after about 15 mins, small portions but reasonable quality. Then the wait began.... 40 mins later and several reminders that we had theatre tickets, the food arrived. We had observed food on the pass for approx 15 mins and sadly this was delivered to our table, bearly warm and overcooked. Chewy fish, inedible burger and chewy chicken in a sauce that was essentially passata with peppers and certainly did not match the menu description! We began to eat the warm/bland food as no time to send it back however my sisters meal did not arrive. After several minutes my sister went up to the waitess and asked where her meal was, the waitress asked the chef, in front if my sister, where her meal was, to which he replied, 'oh I must have forgotten to cook it'. The chef then asked my sister if he wanted her to cook it now to which she replied that she did. My sisters meal came out 10 minutes after ours, we had finished eating so she ate alone. At no point did anybody ask if our meals were ok - they really weren't! Nobody asked about allergies (I thought this was now a requirement in restaurants?) And we weren't offered any other drinks or desserts but in all honestly we waited so long we didn't have time. The restaurant was half empty so this cannot be blamed for the poor experience. I asked to speak to the manager, none available. My sisters main meal was taken off the bill and 25% discount applied however this did not make up for spoiling our night. We have visited this restaurant a number of times previously but sadly this is likely to be our last.

Booked to go for a pre-theatre meal but was disappointed with the service. It took 40 minutes after ordering to get the food. There were 5 of us and 2 of the meals, steaks, were ordered rare and medium rare and both came well done. Complained but given the time did not send back. We were experiencing to order a second course but did not have time. Poor service and badly cooked food. Won't be going back there. Shame they didn't even bat an eyelid when told them they did bad an apology would have gone a long way. Also ordered a side and had to remind then that they had not brought it out. Not a good experience.

We stayed at the Liner hotel so decided to have a few drinks in the Castaway Bar we found out it was happy hour but they had nothing that we fancied.I soon ordered a pint of Stella at £4.75 and then asked for a diet coke to my horror she poured a pint and charged me over £4 for it she then said would you like another pint as it is part of the happy hour.I could not believe she did have anything about her to just give us a small coke then offer us a double up.I did not complain mainly because I was convinced she would understand me.We then watched the England Wales world cup game the atmosphere of the bar was dead and it did not help that the tv had sub titles on for the whole game.

Enjoyed a tasty sandwich and cappucino at lunch time and returned later for the pre-theatre dinner which happened to be on offer in a January 'sale'. How they manage to put on a meal of that quality for the price I don't know but it was delicious. Mushrooms and soup to start then beautifully cooked teriyaki swordfish with chilli rice and tempura veg and the lightest sticky toffee pudding imaginable complimented by a reasonably priced bottle of wine. Well done to all the team. Watch out for server Danielle, who had a smile that could melt ice caps. She is delightful.

Booked here for a pre-gig dinner (gig was at the nearby 02 Academy) and was shown to a good table with the tap water already in place (good not to have to ask for it). Decided to choose from the pre-theatre menu as it has a good selection at a reasonable fixed price. I had the Pulled Pork tacos and my husband had Caesar salad. We both enjoyed them although some of the salad was a bit tired looking. We both chose burgers as the main, they were very good. Eton Mess was the dessert for both of us and again it was enjoyable. Service was very good which is not always the case in large hotels. The wine was decent and I thought good value. Overall, I would say a very pleasant experience as part of our hotel stay at a decent price.

Stopped in the Liner a couple of times now, but had never visited the Castaway bar until this occasion. The food (when it arrived) was really tasty and great value. The bar is very reasonably priced too, with a really good selectino. The service however was extremely slow. The bar was only worked by one member of staff until about 20.45, which really isn't sufficient, given that person is having to serve drinks, take food orders and collect glasses and plates. When I first arrived, it was quite quiet, but it picked up a bit towards 8pm, as there was live football on.The Cocktails 2-4-1 offer is really good value, but we were told that this is valid strictly for 2 of the same cocktails only. This should be made clear, as it was not visible on any of the promotional material.Get the service right, and you're on to something really good.

It was like Fawlty Towers with one person doing everything. When staff did appear they weren't in any rush, looking to order & deliver dessert took 35 minutes, then cutlery was forgotten which added to the frustration.Just disappointing overall so 3 stars. Don't visit if you're in a rush.

I was very surprised at how poor the service was in the restaurant and the only saving grace is that the bar is quiet but lacks any kind of convivial atmosphere. Normally the restaurant is spot on, I must have just ate there on a bad day.

We couldn’t get booked into the restaraunt so ate in the castaway bar. It was pretty quiet so we ordered nachos to share and a drink. The nachos were nice but only the top ones had topping. We didn’t stay long as the bar had no atmosphere. Although we had been told the seven seas brasserie was fully booked every time we passed through it seemed dry quiet plenty of spare tables!!

It’s ok, I’ve had better. Handy for the theatre and the parking only £2.50 if you eat there (used to be free). I’ve never had a meal there that’s gone according to plan there’s always been something gone wrong. She paying for your car park I hope you don’t get the miserable foreign receptionist....I don’t think she likes her job she is so rude.

Didn't stay in the Liner this is just a quick review of castaways bar attached. Don't go there it's horrible, well the staff are. 2 girls and a young eastern European guy behind the bar and about 5 customers assert the bar and it took a good 10 minutes to be served. The girls looked like they were doing community service and HAD to be there, everything (like serving for example) was a chore for them. The guy was just a clueless stereotype and about as fast as a tortoise with a broken leg, on ice, going uphill. Won't bother going back.

The Seven Seas Brasserie in the Liner Hotel just off Lime Street in Liverpool provides a very pleasant place for a lunch or early evening meal. It is well situated near the Empire Theatre, Walker Art Gallery, the Museum and Picton Library in part of Liverpool rather bereft of places to dine. We had the two course special which would be ideal as a pre theatre option. The choice was interesting and the food was good. There is an alternative choice of menu and a sandwich and drink deal as well as delicious looking cakes! The service was good and our waitress Andrea was delightful, helpful, friendly and efficient. We will certainly visit again when in that part of Liverpool citycentre

We took advantage of the Seven Seas Brasserie pre theatre dinner offer and as recommended booked a table well in advance. When we arrived we had to wait a long time to be seated, we were asked three times whether we had booked, and then were told someone would be with us soon. After we seated it then took a further 10 minutes for someone to take our order. At 6:20 some 30 mins after ordering a member of staff came to take away our starter cutlery, even though we still hadn't had our starters. They then consulted the kitchen and returned to say there had been an error and our starters would be with us soon. A supervisor also came to our table and asked if we would be having desserts to which we replied that we doubted we would have time to he then said our starters would be complimentary due to their error. We also noted that many people who had arrived after us were getting served. Our starters eventually arrived and were disappointing to say the least. The 4 filo crushed prawns that 2 of us were served were so overcooked and dry that you couldnt actually taste any prawn and the sweet and sour dip that we should have had with them was merely a drizzle on the side of the plate. When they came to clear our plates we did say they had been very hard. We were then told by a waiter that due to the delay the kitchen had been requested to 'jump our main courses up the queue'.After waiting again and seeing many tables being served and also being told falsely that we would be served after the next order in 3-5 minutes we asked to speak to the manager. We would have left at this time if there had been anywhere else nearby to eat but as we were due at the theatre in 30 minutes we didnt have much choice but to stay. Just as our meals eventually arrived at 6.58 the supervisor came back to see us. We said we did not feel we should pay anything for the food due to the terrible service. He went off again and then came back and said that as our main course was served 15 minutes after our starters were cleared that met their standard. we had 10 minutes to eat our food and pay our bill. In our opinion there were plenty of staff both on the floor and in the kitchen but nobody took ownership for any particular tables so they didnt know who had been served and who hadn't.Your sales slogan for your pre-theatre dinner as being fast and efficient was not apparent last night and we will never return again as it put a dampener on our evening.

One of my favourite restaurants in Liverpool.I have been to the one in Heswell a few times as well and both offer the best service The food is amazing, and so are the cocktails. I visited last year when I was pregnant and the bar man made me any mocktail I wanted. It wasn’t any bother to him at all.The croquettes are my favourite Please, if you ever visit Liverpool then come hereYou won’t be disappointed
