Really really lovely traditional Sunday roast in Liverpool- the small plates/starters are HUGE! Sunday Roast is just as you’d have at home and great portion and quality for the price! Would recommend!

On arrival I ordered a bottle of wine (it had been a tough week) the meal was outstanding, i started with the cauliflower bites, tasty and light, the batter was perfect, Stunning sunday roast dinner, best beef gravy I have ever tasted! Huge Yorkshire pudding, being from Belfast we don't traditionally include them in our Sunday dinner, I'm used to aunt Bessie's!!(Frozen from a packet) Melt in your mouth roast beef and not just a slice but a full piece of slow cooked melt in the mouth beef brisket, roast potatoes, cabbage & carrots, I'm used to some mash with my Sunday dinner but there was more than enough of everything else to compensate. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were very attentive and friendly. I declined dessert, but stayed around to savour the atmosphere of the bar, enjoying the background music and friendly folk, after an hour I decided to order the chocolate brownie, I was not disappointed, I deffo intend to return as often as I can for Sunday dinner as long as I'm staying in the city.

My daughter got married on Saturday and the grooms family came over from Peru (he's half Peruvian). Anyway, they organised a Sunday lunch for both families at Ma Boyle's. 26 in total - no problem! The roast dinner was one of the best I've ever had! The beef was so tender it fell apart as you touched it with your fork. Everyone I spoke to enjoyed their meal. Service was fantastic and the staff were so friendly too. A massive shout out to Rachel who was so happy, bubbly and friendly. She couldn't do enough for her customers. I was really impressed. Ma Boyle's is a hidden gem in Liverpool city centre. It's literally hidden down a little side street off Water Street, (just passed Hooters). Its a small, cozy pub restaurant with 2 levels. The only negatives from my point of view are; 1. There is no wheelchair access. If you can't do stairs, it's not for you. 2. The tap in the loo is stupid. You have to keep it pressed to use it so can't wash your hands properly. 3. The door handle is missing on the inside of the toilet door. There is somewhere to open it but if you have weak wrists it'll be a challenge. Even with these faults, we'll definitely be going back! Highly recommended!!! (photo is of my family outside. It was chucking it down!)

Went ad hoc to try some ales but they only had 2 on that were Beatles named. Tried both but I thought they were a bit nondescript and tasteless. There is outdoor seating next to a picturesque church so off the beaten track so the settings was great. There was a jazz singer on at the time who was ok, jazz is not my scene but others were enjoying her. The gents toilets could have been cleaner also . I cannot comment on the food.

Such a great little pub. Stumbled across this a week ago, living in Liverpool for 8 months. Such a cosy little pub, with outdoor seating in a quiet little side street. Cosy I side, nice seating and again, very cosy. Food was fantastic and very good quality so no complaints, also it's very well priced! Now I have to say straight away the staff and food was gorgeous BUT I really think the chicken supreme roast was extremely dangerous having nearly choked on a splinter on bone which was in the breast meat, I actually felt so embarrassed coughing and reaching down my throat,, maybe this could be changed to remove any bone. Staff were completely apologetic and refunded the cost of my meal, but it was traumatising tbh I thought this is it. Be aware!

And the last time we ate a sunday roast beef and a sunday roast chicken; also delicious. Moreover, prices aren't expensive. It's a good value for money. Main dishes cost around 13 and 16 pounds. Nice restaurant with excellent service - our waiter was really friendly and very efficient. However, the food didn't match the service. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they were distinctly average. The tortillas were not particularly warm and there wasn't really enough of the chicken, peppers and onions to sufficiently fill the wraps; a lot of mouthfuls were mostly wrap. The presentation of the dish overall could have been better - the wraps looked like they'd been thrown onto the tray, there was spillage of the dips, and the salsa looked like a bowl of ketchup. Overall, it was quite underwhelming. One of my friends had the fish and chips and found it to be quite greasy. Another ordered the Scouse pie, which looked good and he said was very tasty. If I go back, I'd probably give that a try.

Taking part in a venue with banquet food, it might not be fair to speak about the whole avilability of the menu. However, I sampled little burgers, which are delicious ,fishbites, and chips in cones, equally delicious and vegetarian skewers, which I found lacking in imagination and taste. The service was excellent, and upstairs was fully booked and very busy ,but the staff was helpful and friendly throughout . The atmosphere was warm and comfortable, but small and perfectly formed. As toilets are downstairs and no disabled facilities that I could see,it would not be suitable for wheelchair uses or people with mobility issues.
