Great location, real Italian and Sicilian food. I really like their lasagne and parmigiane, the owner and the staff are very knowledgeable people. Thumbs up to you!

A distinctly underwhelming salmon salad. Microscopic in size. And £7.99. For an Italian "delicatessen" they seem to have forgotten one of Italy's best exports... olive oil.

Very young and inexperienced staff making coffee that was honestly very poorly made for the price. Paying near enough £4 for a latte that had no foam and didn't resemble a professionally made drink. The staff were courteous when I took the drink back but I wouldn't return and wouldn't bother with the coffee.

One of the best Italian spots in London. They have a wide variety of products that are hard to find elsewhere such as fresh yeast, cassatina, anchovies, granita and chinotto. Staff is lovely and location is great. Highly recommended.

Excellent Italian deli with loads of choice. Cannoli and arancini are delicious and the lemonade was a real One! The staff is welcoming and the store has a nice and tidy seating area at the back.

Ah, The Sicilian in Herne Hill—where the sandwiches are stacked higher than the leaning tower of Pisa and the coffee is strong enough to make even the most stubborn nonna crack a smile. The produce is so fresh it practically sings "O Sole Mio" as it’s sliced, diced, and piled into your panini. Truly, it’s a little slice of Italy right in the heart of Herne Hill. But as the old saying goes, "Non tutto è oro quel che luccica"—not all that glitters is gold. And here, that glittering sandwich counter is hiding a little secret: the loo that time forgot. It’s the kind of place where you might wonder if Dante himself would have considered adding a tenth circle to his Inferno. Let’s just say, it’s not exactly "bella figura" in the hygiene department. You might find yourself enjoying a delicious caprese sandwich, but as soon as you think of the facilities, you’ll be tempted to shout, "Mamma mia!" You’ll start wondering if that heavenly aroma of freshly brewed espresso is masking something far less divine. Perhaps it’s best to savour your meal and keep those lavatorial thoughts far, far away. Now, don’t get me wrong—the food is "così buono," so good it might make you forget all about the dubious state of the lavatories. But if you do happen to need a pit stop, I’d recommend holding off until you’re back on more familiar (and cleaner) territory. Or, you know, consider it part of the full Sicilian experience: a bit of culinary delight with just a sprinkle of danger. In the end, The Sicilian is a must-visit for lovers of mouth-watering sandwiches, perfectly brewed coffee, and a taste of la dolce vita. Just maybe hold off on exploring the facilities—or at least arm yourself with some hand sanitiser and a sense of humour. Buon appetito!

Cozy and well-stocked place. Typical Sicilian products such as cannoli, arancini, pistachio pesto, ready-made sauces and excellent coffee. Highly recommended if you are looking for an authentic Italian place.

Authentic Italian granita (I tried pistachio and lemon) and many other Italian products I miss in London. Reminded me of the tastes I have enjoyed in Sicilia. I got also some pasta and tomato purée which were really good and the price is very reasonable even for London.

I visited The Sicilian Delicatessen in Herne Hill and was extremely satisfied. The lemon granita, prepared in the most authentic way, was absolutely delicious, perfect together with the fantastic brioches. The variety and quality of Italian and Sicilian products were impressive, with a wide selection of cheeses, cured meats and regional specialities. The staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. The location is taken care of down to the smallest details, creating a welcoming and authentic atmosphere. I highly recommend a visit!

The best Arancini, the Ragu are to die for, and if your a mozzarella lover, the other flavours certainly won't disappoint. From Cannoli, to Cornetti and a little bit of everything Sicilian, this quaint establishment is full of Italian delight and joy.

The Sicilian deli is one of my favorite local spots. The service is great, the staff is friendly and I can always trust I'm gonna get good quality food. Highly recommended. If you're ever hungry for a quick bite pop down to the Sicilian deli. I love the olive oil, the gluten free pasta and the coffee.

Best Italian deli in South London hands down! Finally something regional and more specific than the generic Italian delis. Customer service is great and the parmigiana and cannoli are something else. I've been a regular here and I'm Italian myself.. I'm addicted!

We went for a lovely relaxed meal there. The food is amazing & we loved the way the plates came through the course of the evening, meaning we could chat in between dishes and everything stayed hot. If you want fresh, authentic, high quality Italian food, I would highly recommend.

We had our Sicilian dinner outdoors on a warm Saturday evening and had the best time. The lovely team made us off menu delicious vegan pasta dishes. Had the best evening and can’t wait to come back!

A Saturday evening full of surprises, we stopped for a simple cappuccino and ended up tasting truly excellent dishes with Italian flavours, we will gladly return!

Shop or eat in at your hearts content. Curated italian delicatessen, from the shop to the fresh food counter, the cheese and cold cuts, the wine selection and the extra virgin olive oil imported from Sicily. They even offer a sicilian style aperitivo on Saturdays. Worth every penny! This is what your soul needs. Staff is attentive and kind. Atmosphere is very homey. Love these guys

After the renovations the indoor seating is amazing and the staff are super friendly the food is also amazing and they have so much variety of food that is authentically Italian. They also have so many vegan options it’s amazing!!!

The Beef LASAGNA and PARMIGIANA tested delicious, the staff are so friendly and respectful the Restaurant inside look so colorful 😋 I can't wait to visit again.

Sandwich completely stale, pretty much inedible. For £8.90 a sandwich it was completely unacceptable. Arancini was adequate

Had a meal here last Saturday - and it was fantastic! Everything tasted excellent - particularly the arancini. We may have bought a fair bit of wine too, which was equally good. All the staff were friendly and had good knowledge of the menu, so they were able to answer any questions we had. They advised us to order as we wanted more, as it comes out on small plates when it is ready, so would recommend doing that too. I would highly recommend The Sicilian!

We came for an “Aperitivo” soirée here, because we love Carlo and his team, and come for coffee nearly every morning after walking the dogs in the park. It was a delightful experience. The food was truly excellent and surpassed all expectations. The team were great. It’s only the 3rd time they have done “Aperitivo” on a Saturday, but everything ran really smoothly. Would definitely come again. A real taste of Sicilia. Bravo

Can’t recommend enough, like a little slice of Italy. The perfect spot to go with friends or as a couple, such an authentic setting with attentive service. They even created Vegan friendly dishes off menu for one of us. If you want amazing food and well priced wine then you must go here, you won’t regret it. Will definitely be rushing back! Pictures don’t do it justice.

Unfortunately wasn’t blown away by the food at all, we were very excited to see maritozzo available and ordered two, as well as a Napoli salami/artichoke sandwich. The sandwich tasted good but for the £6.50 paid I don’t feel the portions were anywhere near generous enough. The maritozzo was the most disappointing part, the bun was very chewy, the cream inside was very cold as if it had been frozen/refrigerated for a long time. The sandwich and two maritozzo came to £17, so quite expensive. Even more so considering how underwhelming the food was. I would not recommend this place.

Delicious pastries and paninis! The pistachio croissant is delicious and so is their cannoli filled with ricotta 👌🏼 They have a variety of sandwiches and paninis, you can't go wrong with either. ⭐

We've eaten lunch there a couple of times now. It isn't the cheapest, but it is extremely good. The arancini are delicious, as was the fried aubergine panini. Recommended.

What a beautiful place this deli is. Such a beautiful spot to go before or after a lovely walk in the park. Had a lovely cappuccino and a delicious Handmade Italian sausage and Friarielli (100% recommend trying) which was amazing, followed by a pistachio cornetto. The service was brilliant, the staff here are so friendly. I cannot wait for my next visit. There are so many products which I wish to try. Keep uo the great work and I look forward to my return.

As a frequent customer at ‘Sesami’ next door, I was intrigued to see how this much shinier, new deli would compare. The guys were really nice and on the surface it all looks great. I ordered a panini and pistachio croissant to take away. The Panini was really, really awful. The bread must have been days old, I had to throw away the majority of it because it was so stale. It said fresh mozzarella on the board but I’m 100% certain none was used. Some grated cheddar in there and maybe the tiniest bit of mozzarella but for £7 you should be doing much, much better. Stick to cheaper places and get way more more your money.

Spectacular Italian gastronomy - they have everything, not just from Sicily: from quality pasta to anchovy sauce, from cooked wheat for the pastiera to Ciobar, from Crodino to artisanal almond granita, from taleggio to curasau bread. The arancini are also excellent.

Primarily went in for the coffee but also what a great shop. Great delicatessen by the station, loads of great options to choose from. The coffee was excellent. I also managed to pick up a couple of those harder to find in shops bits (eg avocado oil mayo). Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Also open until 7pm which is so convenient when you’re on the go in the evening.

I popped in spontaneously for an Arancini before my train - it was DELICIOUS! A friendly staff member who mentioned it was only his 1st or 2nd day, but he was really great and recommended which Arancini I should try. Could have spent ages browsing in here too! Will definitely be back.

The ice cream was bad and the pistachio donut even worse. Very disappointing. I give two stars because the staff was friendly and the location is good.

I’m just put trying to grab a coffee and an ice cream on my lunch break and enjoy the sunshine with positive vibes/support non chains. I go in and I’m met with the rudest, snappiest member of staff. Won’t go there again because I don’t want my head snapped off in order to get a coffee. It’s not a pleasant thing to experience in the mere 30 minutes of free time I have for lunch.

The last few times I’ve gone in the food has been stale or not properly prepared. I’ve also seen what I think to be managers shouting at staff members more than once. Shame this place gets so many good reviews.

Amazing fresh food! The variety they have of Sicilian products was perfect for my first time attempt at Carbonara, Sebastiano gave me amazing tips on how to make it truly authentic. The staff are always smiling and it is such a joy to visit this little piece of Sicily in the heart of South London. Will definitely be back for the lasagne and parmigiana :)

I really enjoyed eating here this afternoon! The brown rice and tuna salad was yummy, the passion fruit smoothie was a good portion and tasty and I also enjoyed the Cotoletta chicken sandwich! There was a good amount of breaded chicken in there, perfect amount of cheese and tomato and to address previous comments, the lettuce was indeed brown, but that's just because it's fresh out of the owen (it was toasted with the sandwich!). Service is nice and quick!

Ordered the chicken panini, Daniele panini and 2 coffees. We left the coffees outside as they were terrible and went next door for significantly better coffees. Sandwiches were stale, bland and ingredients questionable. This was on a Saturday morning at 10:30am... £27 for nothing, would not go back.

Ottimo luogo dove assaporare cibi ottimi e soprattutto Siciliani. Da siciliano devo ammettere che mi ha fatto ricordare casa, pur essendo in Inghilterra. Gentilezza e qualità dei prodotti, mi faranno tornare a provarlo sicuramente.

Best cannoli and arancini in London!

We had a caponata and a panino (homemade italian sandwich), which I definetly recommend: what a taste! And... what about the "granita"??!! Gone on cloud nine when i got it, feeling like home. Best sicilian I've ever had in London. Next time I would go back and try all the rest, which looked delicious too. I can't wait!

Chicken panini ?? 1 slice of tomato, 1 sad looking lettuce slightly browned edges 😕 not good, and no sauce or butter just plain bread 😢 such lazy preparation & all for £7.50 ..touched up the sandwich when I got home with a little pickle and mayo... not hard now was it! Such a waste of place... no passion what is wrong with people.....

The nduja and Norma Arancini are simply the best. There's also a good selection of Italian cheeses and meats. The Italian handmade sausage are also very good

Food and drinks weren't ideal... Ordered the lentil and sausage soup which was also meant to include veg, think I was given the dregs of the pot as it was basically lentils in broth (no sausage) with one sad carrot chunk and a few pieces of onion. The server also microwaved the bread that goes with it so it was rock hard and dehydrated. Even though we were sitting in (and told the staff this when we ordered), or hot drinks were served to us in paper cups rather than the crockery sitting on top of the coffee machine. Think the staff need some training and standards could be better.

Prodotti tipici, buoni e di qualità. Mangiare un panino imbottito con un eccellente salame Milano, cuori di carciofo e pecorino, dopo una mattina in giro per la città è stato davvero piacevole (accompagnato da un Pinot nero delizioso consigliato dallo staff che si è dimostrato molto disponibile e gentile). Per concludere il pranzo, la scelta della torta cioccolato e arancia non poteva essere più azzeccata. È stato un peccato non poter assaggiare le tante altre prelibatezze a disposizione tra cui arancini, ottimi salumi, primi piatti e secondi tra cui il roast chicken davvero invitante. Sono certa che se tornassi a Londra, la mia prima tappa culinaria sarebbe The Sicilian. Da siciliana, mi sono sentita a casa durante il mio soggiorno a Londra.

Really wanted to like it but incredibly rude staff and poor coffee. Sent it back for being cold and felt as if I’d I was the worst person ever. Think there’s far better places and wouldn’t waste my money again. Need to rethink their customer service.

Deep and long shop. Good selection of pastries, pastas and Italian pasta sauces., Not to mention, good ice cream selection. Paninis, cheeses, drinks. Worth looking inside for that special Italian treat. Tables outside, if you want to soak up Herne Hill's vibes.

Needs to do better. Really cannot understand the gushing reviews of this place. It's okay but that's all. Panini look the part but fail to live up to expectations. Grocery, cheese and charcuterie range is reasonable but the price mark-up is absurd. Coffee is excellent but don't expect a smile.

I have been excited to try this new addition to the local area and popped in at lunch today. A nice selection of Italian products and the deli counter looks great. My wife and I both had a panini (caprese and aubergine). Both were cold in the middle and vastly over seasoned. The customer in front of us asked for their food to be heated twice and I suspect there is an issue with the grill / oven being used... Will try again and hopefully these teething issues iron themselves out. It would be great to see this place do well.

One of the finest little gem of a shop in the southeast. Great selection of Sicilian products and staff that actually knows what hospitality means, unlike most shops around that spot (cough blackbird bakery cough), which have degraded significantly over the past few years
