My favourite restaurant in New Malden. Authentic and delicious korean food and first class service every time. My go to dishes are Sundaeguk, Raw crab, Kanpoongi, their extensive menu is all fantastic!! A must try place for Korean food lovers!

I ordered spicy sujebi and salted fish with an acquaintance. In my honest review, both the altang and the sujebi tasted like a soup made with light red pepper powder. I had spicy sujebi, and the taste was a mixture of light udon soup mixed with the taste of red pepper powder and the slightly bitter taste of raw green onions. It had no special taste other than being slightly spicy and salty. The sujebi was not chewy and felt a little hard, and the potatoes were cooked, but they did not mix well with the soup, so it felt like they were separate. My friend also gave it a two-star rating for the spicy and salty taste of the egg with a hint of egg flavor. Still, the radish greens and kimchi that came as side dishes were delicious. I had high expectations after reading the reviews, but was slightly disappointed by the appearance of the food, so I forgot to take pictures. The kimchi stew and soybean paste stew are above average wherever I go, so I end this review thinking I'll order that.

Very authentic Korean restaurant with great food

Staff always directly outside, chain-smoking. Gross and this is so off-putting and unattractive.

Visited on Friday 24 May. I believe it was a bit quiet because it was leading up to a bank holiday. We arrived around 9pm. Ordered Sundubu Jigae, and Bibimbap Dolsot and Kanpoongi. Diet coke and plum tea. Food was good, service was fast. A lovely little family restaurant so don't expect lots of staff to wait at around. Would definitely go back again.

The food is good and authentic korean! The marinated crab was so good but the portion was incredibly small for £18.

They have the card machine not working and let you know of that when you get the bill which can be frustrating. Bossam (steamed pork) was really good but we found it’s a bit overpriced for the portion size.

Three of us did order Set A on lunch menu. Plus a few dishes to share. It was massive portions could feed even 4-5 people. The food was delicious. Highly recommended. And reasonable price.

Food is in general good. But kimchi is sweet and seems to be not home-made. Same for kimchi jeon. Steamed pork is fine. It was quite cold inside even though the door was closed, so we had to wear our jackets while eating. The staff was not kind and slow.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE - we went into the restaurant on 29 Dec 2023 at 7.30pm. There was one staff serving and she was extremely miserable and slow and very irritated. It was hard work asking the waitress to help with the menu and take the order. She was so rude, the four of us decided to leave, and went to the other Korean restaurant next door, and we were happy with the service there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Seoul Matjib, Horrible waitress/owner.

I came here at diner. The Korean food was really yummy, especially sundae things. I will be coming here often!

We went there cos it's been a while since we have had Korean food and our regular one was closed. On arrival it was nearly full but for one table so we felt quite lucky to get to sit down. My wife is vegetarian and lady who served us was helpful to suggest what's suitable, and quickly came to take our order. From that point it went completely down hill. We ordered some typical Korean dishes and waited for some kimchi to arrive. When they did i asked if they had others like Spinach since wife preferred non spicy Kimchi and lady said no. Thex kimchi arrived but the portions was more suited for one not two. Mains then arrived and the Korean veggie pancake was soaked in oil. You can tell it was not cooked hot enough so the pancake batter just soaked up the oil. The bibimbap was just with meat taken out without adding a substitute so after mixing you get just rice with little else showing. Needless to say it was tasteless. I asked for Chapchebap and the lady said no, just Chapche. So I had to order chapche with a separate bap (rice). When it arrived it was also swimming in oil, and the rice was a gooey mess. The sweet and sour chicken came it was just sweet, not crispy and just covered in corn syrup. I don't think the chicken was freshly done imo else the batter would have been crispy. In my opinion every dish was cooked with no real care or pride as if their cooks (visible from our table) had no more passion left. The place was drab too. I have lived in New Malden for over a decade and have visited Korea and worked with Koreans during that period too, so I do know the cuisine quite well. We weren't even served with the Korean barley tea which is customery. In fact we weren't even offered a drink of any kind at all. When I did ask for some Korean barley tea in their language the reply i got was tap water or (English) tea. I just gave up in the end trying to explain and asked for the bill and left. Never will I visit again.

Wanted to try an authentic Korean restaurant and stumbled across this small restaurant, reasonably priced and frequented by local Koreans which is usually a good sign, I was on my own so a little self conscious but the staff where friendly the food was amazing, the atmosphere was just what I was after. I was not disappointed and the owner even helped me with my pronunciation of Korean when thanking them for the meal. Would definitely go again.

This is the first Korean restaurant I visited in London thanks to a friend. I didn't have much experience with Korean restaurants abroad, so I went there with high expectations. My friend chose dongtaetang (dongtaetang), I chose kimchi stew, and we ordered steamed egg and Osam bulgogi on the side. Even though it was a weekday evening, the place was full and the atmosphere was very lively. The overall taste of the food was good. The Osam bulgogi was very tasty, and the steamed egg was also good as it neutralized the pungent flavors. One thing I regret is that it would be better if the kimchi in the kimchi stew was reduced a lot and improved a little. In my humble opinion, when it comes to bibigo kimchi, it often happens that it is already overripe when opened. If only the kimchi were crunchier, there would be nothing wrong with it. ^^*

Great Korean and very reasonable prices especially compared to some places on the high street. The kimchi rice was amazing. Forgot to take a picture before we had eaten it all.

One of the best Korean restaurant in New Malden

I went here before covid 3 times. Their 순더부 was really good. I brought friends for lunch last week and ordered again, it was blend and it’s just a few piece of soft tofu in a red colour soup! Bad. Not going back! Worst thing was I thought it’s good and recommended my friends too! Embarrassing! Luckily one of them ordered bibimbap and it was okay at least. The side dishes were super small portion.

Really delicious and great value Korean food. Slightly off the beaten path but definitely worth a visit. The vegetable wrap set as part of their lunch sets is great to share between three to four people. Can enjoy tasty food while feeling like you’re getting your vegetables in. The place is slightly less English friendly that maybe some others but it’s not really a problem.

I went to eat the famous Wuchang hotpot. I was really disappointed by the lack of flavor and lack of ingredients. I think this is a limitation of Korean food eaten abroad, but I still give it five stars!

Very homely Korean food, the portions are large, and the white meat platter we ordered was delicious. Completely different style from next door, worth trying!

Soft tofu stew is bland and tasteless, just plain water… . Sundaeguk is worth eating. Among the side dishes that came as standard, the kimchi was the worst I’ve ever had in my life… Intention to revisit

I went to this place because I really wanted to eat sundae, and I ended up stuffing myself with sundae, seasoned raw fish, raw fish stew, and cod soup. The staff were friendly and the food was all delicious :)

Incredible atmosphere and the food felt really home-cooked!

The taste level of the sundae soup is not as good as this kid's, and the taste is so bad. The price on the menu is 10 pounds, but I paid 14 pounds. It was just treated like dog.

My friend always praised how delicious beef jangjeongol was, but I never really believed it. However, the day another friend recommended this restaurant for its delicious sundae soup, I really wanted to try it. So I visited this “Seoul Restaurant”. As soon as I entered, I was very curious about the gamjatang served at each table. However, I ordered Ujang Jeongol, Sundaeguk, and Assorted Sundae. It was the day I decided to go eat it. But what is this?.. Assorted sundae melts in your mouth. The taste of sundae eaten in the famous sundae alley in Sokcho Jungang Market can be found in New Malden, England. The assorted sundae was better than the sundae soup. And the ujang hotpot, with the udon sari inside, is really steamed. The same taste that I had at the famous intestine restaurant in Gangneung's residential area can be found here as well. Among all the Korean restaurants in New Malden, I wondered if I had to go inside and eat here, but this place was really good. I'll go eat gamjatang next time.

One of our favorite restaurants in New Malden. Tasty very similar Korean home cook!Y buds and and I love the lunch set. Reasonable price good fresh food. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Tuesday lunch is pretty busy :) so if you want to go try to go early or bit late lunch. We will be back for other foods. I do not have the photo of Bossam. This is really good dish too!! :)

The service was kinda ok, nothing special. However when we ordered ramen noodles we received instant noodles. 8 pounds for instant noodles was the most expensive instant noodles I've ever eaten.

It's nothing compared to Korea, but Of all the sundae and sundae soup I ate in London, this restaurant’s sundae was the best. Gamjatang is also delicious!

The owner was friendly and I ate stir-fried sundae and tteokbokki. It was seasoned well and the amount of sundae was generous and didn't have any smell so I ate it well. Don't expect the taste from Korea. It's worth eating when you want to eat sundae. It seemed like he made it himself.

Every single menu item is delicious and plentiful. It's a clean, friendly restaurant that I frequent often. Beef stew, cod braised stew, and raw fish stew in the UK! 👍 Ssambap set menu is the best value for money. Even my mother-in-law, who is a picky eater from Korea, praised each and every menu item for being exactly what she wanted, so we got points as well~😀 Consistently delicious, highly recommended!!

Amazing authentic proper Korean food. The menu is consist of everything that South Koreans living in UK desire. Everything in the menu is good. Highly recommended. This place is delicious. British/European people might not like it that much (they only sell foods that Koreans like more, like sundae soup, stir-fried beef paste, steamed cod cheeks, and gamjatang!), but everything is above average. It seems like they make the sundae themselves, and no matter what you order, it's all good. It's clean, friendly, has lots of food, and the prices are good. Even if you go on a weekday evening, it's so crowded with Koreans that you won't be able to get a seat. I go here every time I go to New Malden.

Yesterday I ate Sundubu-jjigae - Korean soft tofu stew at this restaurant. Never go to this restaurant. I went to this restaurant yesterday and was shocked to see the food I ordered. The food I ordered was not Sundubu-jjigae. It was a food of unknown nationality that I had never eaten since I was born. It just didn't look like the food I knew. It didn't taste like anything, and it was a dish made without sincerity by simply cutting soft tofu. The woman who owned this restaurant looked at who came from the kitchen. She is Korean, she has lived in Korea for a long time, and she knows the taste very well. She eventually had a con plane with her and she didn't pay for it. The person watching the service told me I was sorry. Business mind is not good. Today, while talking to other friends about what happened yesterday, they ask why they went to that restaurant. They used to taste good, but now they say it's really bad. Even though it was a Friday evening somehow, it was quiet.

A decent restaurant but could do better with jjigae range in general. Most of them are too bland for Koreans. Overall, it's delicious (especially the ssambap and sundae are the best), but the stew is sometimes bland or makes you wonder what it tastes like, so I don't usually order stew here other than gamjatang...

When you want to eat Korean food while living abroad nice house

I made an order though Deliveroo and my order arrived within 20 minutes which is very good but the Soondae-Bokkum 순대볶음 I have ordered, I wasn't able to eat half of it as it had very strong "fishy" 비린맛 taste and smell. The order arrived hot but, just in case we have re-heated to see if it makes things better but it did not. Tangsuyuk 탕수육 we have ordered together was alright thus the rating. I'm leaving this review hoping for the improvement. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Revisited about a year later and it seems they have improved big time since. Food was lovely and owners were very friendly too.

Unexpected surprise by service and taste of the food... especially Sundae... my family enjoyed their food in this pandemic situation... we will go again very soon. Thank you for the great food!!!

Just before the lockdown, I ate it at a restaurant, and recently after the lockdown, I ate take-out beef jangjeongol. Beef jang hotpot was not on the delivery menu, so I called in advance to check if it was not on the take-out menu after the lockdown and brought my own container, but I don't think there was a need to bring the container. I boiled it when I got home and it was really delicious. They packaged it carefully to make sure it didn't leak, and the portions were generous, so I ate it to my fill. I want the lockdown to end quickly so I can go and eat sundae soup and other menu items!! It's really delicious. In particular, the sundae here is the best in England...

AMAZING food and service, felt like being at a local Korean family home. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Food was superb, classic korean dishes done extremely well. Fish cake soup and soy milk noodles were especially excellent. Korean side dishes (Banchan) were also delicious and free (the marinated perilla leaves and bean sprouts were superb!) Staff came and replaced this throughout our visit without prompting. A lively and busy little restaurant, well worth the 1 hour drive from North London! Will be returning when we next make the trip down

Wow~! What a wonderful foods with children and colleagues! My family like to come here for lunch or dinner. They have lunch special for vegetarian as well. From stew, meat and delicious side dishes, my family and company colleagues love it. Even though, it is tough time for all restaurants in the UK, we can take away foods and have it at home! If you miss mother's foods, then I recommend here for you! You will never be disappointed, I promise!

Family owned Korean restaurant. Owner is very friendly and always makes us feel welcome. The food is excellent with the seafood pancake being particularly tasty. Recommended.

We entered when the restaurant was empty, then the waitress served drink and appetisers to the two Korean groups who came after us. When she took our order, she said she would not recommend us the dish we want - without a reason. When the seafood pancake came, I only see lots of spring onions, hardly any seafood, and it was burned. The Dumpling, beef, tofu and vege hot pot soup was just water and chilli paste, not broths with 6 dumplings, one ball of beef, and LOTS of vegetables... Tasted not that good... Really disappointed, will not go back again. There are many better Korean restaurants in the area.

Very nice and tasty food, perhaps a bit on the pricey side. Some English description might help a lot people with no Korean language knowledges.

The best Korean restaurant in London

Excellent Korean food for couple or small group.

Of all the Korean restaurants in London I have been to, this has to rank near the top. It has a good and varied menu, not just barbecue meats. There are dishes which I don't see often in other restaurants. I have eaten here three times so far and I have not been disappointed. The place is full of Korean diners, which is a sure sign that it is good. The service wasn't bad, either. I would go back at the drop of a hat.

One of best Korean restaurant in new malden. Especially 'ssam ba' is very good menu which non other Korean restaurants have. I also recommend 'gam ja tang' (pork backbone soup with potato,dried cabbage and other vegetables).

Good taste for tired Korean travel and people who want to taste Korean food.

We went there for a couple of hours on New Year's Eve, and had a mix of pork, pancakes and beef, done Korean style. The food was delicious and the service was as friendly and efficient as I have ever experienced. The restaurant would be great for a short visit or a longer evening, for couples or groups, and I thoroughly recommend it.
