So when those 'curry in a jar' isn't happening for you and all you want is to sink your teeth into a lamb curry, butter chicken, soft naan and Anthony else you can get your hands on, I'd highly recommend Secrets of India. Me -being a an Indian myself (and an amazing cook) can say that this place will satisfy your taste buds with its large variety of GOOD Indian food and at very good portion sizes! Food is amazing -unsure about staff as I've only ordered takeout!

We ordered a take-away from Secrets of India. The food was of good quality, tasty, decent quantities, nicely presented and reasonably priced. We have not eaten in the restaurant but when I went to pick up the take-away, it seemed pleasant, modern, clean and spacious. The parking outside is a bit difficult.

Found this place by accident last Saturday and am glad to say we found a little gem of a place. Big lovers of Indian food we thought we would give it a try. The food was excellent. The staff were amazingly friendly and approachable. Love the layout of the restaurant too, we didn't feel like we were dining on top of the other diners. Child friendly also. Could not fault the place to be honest. Will certainly be using this place regularly.

We have been using this restaurant since it first opened and now rarely eat Indian food elsewhere. We have always been made to feel very welcome and the food has always been excellent. We often eat there with our children (toddlers) and they are extremely patient and helpful which goes above and beyond any expectations. We have never had the delivery issues experienced by some others on here and they are always open to suggestions and improvements.

I've been a big fan of Indian Restaurant Food since I was 16 (32 years ago) and have tried the cuisine from restaurants all over the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa and Asia. Three of us ate here last Saturday night and everything we were served was superb - great food, good portions and very courteous, efficient service. The only downer for the whole evening was that we were the only ones in there on a Saturday night mid to late evening. All I can say is if you go in and it's empty and you then wonder what's wrong with the place, have faith and give it a try - if it's half as good as what we were served you won't be disappointed!

We eaten at the resturant a lot of times and we've always been made to feel really welcome.. The staff are great and they will do anything to please you, even by sending a member of staff up the road to buy some redbull because they don't serve it themselves in the restaurant.. But and this is a big but!!! When you order a takeaway it's always a hour to be delivered which normally is always more like a hour and twenty and for some reason considering that I only live five minutes away the food always arrivals lukewarm or cold!!! I think from now on we will only be eating in the resturant..

We tried this place with friends on a Saturday night. We were there for over 2 hours from 7.30pm , and there were never more than 4 other customers in this fairly large restaurant. So what's the secret ? The location ? I'm bemused by the number of good reviews it has received on Tripadvisor and I can only conclude that it must be very inconsistent or the good reviews thus far have been from people who simply aren't very discerning at all in their restaurant expectations. The best bit of our experience was the food but even this was average for the standard of Indian restaurants in the surrounding area and in general, nothing more. The surroundings are stark and lack any atmosphere or character - one long plain room with tables in a straight line on both sides and what looks like an empty dance floor in the middle with 2 ugly pot plants on the floor - very odd. The seats were very , very uncomfortable , lightweight inexpensive things. The service was poor. They had 3 front of house staff but it still took ages to be served despite the place being empty , I don't know how many staff were in the kitchen but my guess would be probably only 1 judging from how long the food took. Our waiter had no charisma and no clue. His colleagues weren't much better . So many successful restaurants in the local area work hard to please their customers , talk to them, charm them, offer complimentary drinks with the bill perhaps. It's not just about taking the order and then depositing it on the table in front of you ages later and walking away slowly ... In conclusion I'm not surprised the place was virtually empty on a Saturday night ( where are all the people who love it so much on tripadvisor ? - I think 4 of them must work here ) but I'm amazed that the guys running the place didn't seem that bothered . We'll be back to Red Klove next time up the road which was full when we walked past on our way to discover the secret of Secrets of India.

If you look at the other reviews that I have written, I don't lightly give bad write ups for small businesses such as this one but our experience with them on Saturday evening was one of the worst customer service that I have ever experienced! My wife made a large order through the Just Eat web site in the early part of the evening for a delivery meal. Secrets of India accepted this order. After two hours, just before 9pm, it was getting late and our guests, who had to travel by public transport were becoming worried. We were all very hungry by now. I phoned the restaurant and asked what was happening and we were told that our order was not started. I told them that we would cancel the order if it was not delivered within fifteen minutes. Fifteen minutes came and went so we contacted Just Eat to cancel the order and Just Eat simply did not respond. I again telephoned the restaurant to verify that the order had been cancelled and was given a tirade of abuse and swearing by the person who I presume is the proprietor. So, my questions are, why did they accept an order that they could not fulfill? Why did they keep us waiting for two hours, rather than letting us know in good time that they would not be able to fulfill our order and why did the proprietor swear at me down the phone? My experience with this establishment is that they are incompetent and offensive and it is certainly one that will never get any custom from us or any of our guests in future, As I say, I do not write bad reviews such as this lightly and I am aware that a good Tripadvisor reputation can enhance trade. My advice to readers is to avoid this establishment.

Went there in a group of 6. Parking is not easy on that street. The restaurant has been done up fairly well. The food took a long time coming. Though its presentation was quite attractive it lacked in taste. The tandoori was full of colour and too much of onions with all their tandoori items. Didn't like the food much at all. Only saving grace was that we were using a taste card and got a 50% discount.

From outside this restaurant looked like any other high street small Indian takeaway restaurant. when I stepped inside I was surprised by how spacious and tastefully furnished it was. Lots of open space with a few pot plants added to the atmosphere. Menu was rather confusing in that starters and main course were not conventionally listed. Starters were small and not sharing plates (as is usual in Indian restaurant). Food was average to good (probably two or three stock curries used for most dishes ordered, less of meat or veg and more of masalas). Food was served in warmed plates and tables were kitted with starched white linen. Service was very good and with a smile.

Unfortunately for our waistlines we've sampled more than our fair share of Indian restaurants in the area and simply put, this is our favourite. We've been a few times now and are always made to feel most welcome. The owner/manager is enthusiastic and rightly proud of his product, which involves unique and delicious cuisine combined with superb service. Secrets of India succeeds in its ambition to stand out in a crowd and it's the little touches that make this establishment highly recommendable. Sample their menu and before long you'll be back here writing another five star review. Enjoy.Chris & Lou

We visited this restaurant for the first time last night after it was recommended to us by a friend. We were impressed by the friendly staff, interesting varied menu and the general atmosphere of the place. The food was delicious and my rose wine (French) was lovely and went down a treat with my lamb makhani. We will certainly be eating here again and have added to our list of local restaurants to dine in regularly. We also received their take away menu last Friday and will probably give that a whirl. The service was good and we didn't feel as if we were being pushed out the door unlike some restaurants we have been. Keep up the good work.

This was our first visit to Secrets and certainly won't be the last. We received a warm welcome and were not rushed to order our meals. The food arrived well presented and full of flavour. The tikka masala and chicken shatt were delicious and the tandoori chicken was beautifully cooked. The buttered chicken was also outstanding and we could not find any faults. If we were to criticise anything then perhaps the drinks could be more chilled when ordered without ice. All in all a lovely experience and one of the better Indian restaurants in the area.

Been here twice in the last month and have been impressed. The food is freshly prepared, and as well as familiar standards they offer some interesting variants, explained clearly by the waiters and definitely worth a go for a bit of a change. There has been some criticism of the service on this site. The quality of the waiters is not uniform but there is a general eagerness to serve well and promptly, and this has improved over the last month. All in all good food, good value and we will be back.

Lovely modern decor and lots of space. The people that work there are lovely and make a real effort with everyone. The food was better than our usual Indian restaurant!!!! Can't fault it in any way and we could hear people around us saying the same thing. Also a lovely place to have a party / birthday.Definately worth a visit and I'm sure this will soon become a favourite for many people locally.

I looked up all the reviews I could find before buying a voucher to use for my husband's birthday as I was keen to try somewhere different. There are many praising the food, and after reading a poor review that was 9 months old, I thought they must have improved the service by now, so I booked.Although we were served poppodoms whilst we looked at the vast menu, it took ages for our drinks to arrive and the staff seem to disappear, so we were left for too long before anyone came back to take our order. This happened at other tables that arrived after us as well. It was nearly an hour from our arrival before we were served the starters and then we waited another hour for the main course, by which time it was nearly 10 o'clock and far too late for me. Yes, the food was good, but needless to say, we did not have a dessert or coffee. I have read that 'everything is cooked from scratch' so expect it to be longer than usual, but that doesn't excuse the lack of attention from the waiting staff, although they apologised twice that our food was going to take a few minutes longer, when in fact it was a lot longer. We were given a 2 for 1 voucher for a takeaway when we left, but we only had 2 weeks to use it, so we haven't. I also think the full price is too high for us so we will not be returning.I was impressed that there were several Asian families dining there and I thought that maybe the wait doesn't matter if you are in a large group, catching up with friends or family, with plenty to talk about. So if you are still reading this, you may have an occasion like that to dine out when you don't want to be rushed. It is a large room so we didn't feel cramped and I wondered whether they have left the space in the middle for dancing, but at the moment, I don't think the kitchen could cope with any more tables. It would probably be ideal for a private function.

It's was my nans birthday she lives in northwood, for her meal I searched trip advisor for a local place, few come up but reading reviews I thought I'll give secrets ago, as it new also never been there.Gotta say first I thought turned up to the wrong place as it looked like a takeaway n bar. Boy was I impressed to see a beautiful massive very nice decorated restaurant at the back. The menu has a wide range off dishes, we went for basic traditional curry. The food was the best in hillingdon, so fare. You can taste each spice, flavour was awesome. My man loved and so did I. The manager introduced himself and explained about the menu and where the dishes come from. He also said everything is cooked from scratch, and that true. Sadly am from highbury so can't come weekly but for sure will visit once a month. Thanks trip advisor for finding this place.

Authentic, tasty, beautifully cooked and presented food - and most of the menu available with a discount for take-away. A very large and varied menu with plenty of choice and they even have a lower fat menu for those watching their weight! The staff are very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to provide a Saturday lunch time meal for a party of 10 for my birthday. The decor is lovely with a warm and friendly atmosphere and a nice comfortable waiting area where you can enjoy a drink if you are ordering a take away. Weekends are very busy, but often busy during the week too so always best to book. They even have firework displays for Bonfire Night and New Year's Eve. I usually visit at least once a month for a take-away and all my friends love going there for a meal too.

Went here on Friday 22nd feb and I honestly would say it was the worst Indian food and service I have had. The staff were not helpful and struggled with delivering even the basic level of service required...the food when it cams out after a long wait even though it wasn't busy was swimming with oil and everything tasted the same, it also was very bland. The food wasn't cheap so I was expecting something much better than what I received...I wouldn't use these establishment again-plenty of other good curry houses around

It's not very good. We went using a groupon voucher, which offered terrific value for money in terms of food and drink. If this is all that matters to you when you go for a meal then they deserve 7/10, but for me dinner out is more than just that basic requirement. The restaurant was welcoming and clean, but oh so soulless. The tables are lined up like soldiers against the wall, there is 0 ambiance, you are squashed in close to your neighbors so you can hear their conversations, and they have the most uncomfortable chairs I have ever sat on. Furthermore the table is too small to accommodate both chairs fitting under it. This place has been fitted out on the cheap in areas that matter (chairs) and extravagantly on the ceiling, lots of lights flashing away- really very childish and pointless. The food was alright; this is an English Indian, there was not one Indian person eating in there, and they serve the rice with the curry!!!!!!!!!! Asked specifically for roast poppadoms and still got fried ones. My prawns were mushy, (uhhh) but the sauce (65) tasty. Naan was good, rice good, chicken jhollosa good. Nothing exceptional or different. The waiting staff are pleasant and hopeless. They don't know what's in a dish, they don't know how to serve, clear a table, enquire whether things are alright, pour a drink, offer suggestions, or indeed how to take an order. The manager voluntarily offered to up grade my house wine, which was part of the deal, with me only paying the difference, which I was very happy about. There is absolutely no reason to ever go to this place, it does nothing better or different to any of the hundreds of grotty to ordinary Indian restaurants in the area.
