Secret of Mari Masala in Harrow

No doubt best curry place in Harrow! I’ve tried three restaurants since the fire caused the restaurant to close and I’ve been so disappointed I don’t want to try another, I’m just going to have to wait until it opens which I hope will be soon! Craving the massive onion bahjis and tikka masala! Rated only three stars for atmosphere as we haven’t dined in.

Very friendly service and calm atmosphere was excellent for a family meal. Lamb biryani, butter chicken, garlic naan and mixed platter was delicious. Food was not greasy at all and presented beautifully. Will definitely come again!

Superb food, each dish tasted differently and the restaurant was clean and beautifully presented. Attentive waiters, good music and a great choice on the menu. Even on a Monday evening, it wasn't quiet. We will come back.

I cannot recommend this place enough. The food is always delicious, hot, packed with flavour, fresh and consistent. Options to alter spice (hot, medium, mild etc) is lovely, making sure you get what you fancy that evening! Onion bhaji, veg dansaak and kachori are always winners! I just wish I could have this lovely moreish food daily!

If I could leave a zero review I would. The reason for this is the delivery driver tried to break into my house. Almost unbelievable but it happened. Upon calling the restaurant to tell them, the manager was too busy to take my call apparently. When I messaged them asking for a call back, the person I spoke to made excuses for the driver, did not rebute his actions but just said sorry and she will tell him to be more careful next time. There will absolutely NOT be a next time! How dare he try to break into my house! I didn't even get offered a refund which is laughable. Since then I have been worried for my safety in my own home and considering police action.

Was told that the food here is more like home cooking and simple menu cooked well.! And very good., fresh food. Very friendly staff

I had ordered vegetarian manchurian for collection and the dumplings tasted like flour, no taste at all and the gravy also didn't taste any good. It was my first time ordering from mari masala and will be the last time after tasting the food.

This place is addictive! Specially their butter chicken and their grill!!! Wherever I go, I always compare their food with Secret of Mari Masala 😅. So far I have not found a better Indian Restaurant. For my brother s registry dinner we ordered butter chicken for 15 people and the box they gave us was HUGEEE and not a single but was wasted. Disappointing food, zero flavor. There was nothing 'Bombay' in Bombay Curry, it was a tasteless generic curry with pieces of chicken thrown in. Veg Jalfrezi was big chunks of potato with water trickling when you serve in plate. The kind of Indian food you get in rural Wales rather than Harrow. Service was quick.

Oh gosh.. Sorry to say most of the takeaway had to be thrown away. Zero flavour for an Indian restaurant.

Although the menu is quite extensive - the food itself is well prepared and spiced lightly. Flavoursome and decent portions - good value for money in these times where restaurants are hiking up prices without regard to customers and they limitations. The staff were excellent, polite and attentive without been overbearing. I wish them well .. a better location will undoubtedly help them thrive but in the meanwhile it ticks all the boxes. We will be visiting Mari often…

Ordered a takeaway based on good ratings on Just*** and the food was good. But the thing that put me off was finding not one but three hairs in the food! So won't be ordering from here again.

I have been eating in this restaurant for the last 3 years and the food and service is fantastic. A special shout out to Ash and Ali.

No doubt about it this is a fantastic place to eat. I have only eaten there once but the we always (weekly) order take away’s from here. The best way to describe it is the food travels so well. Usually from other places it doesn’t, just a excellent curry house. Hope you enjoy.

It's pathetic food I am not happy with food as well staff was not good. Starter was not good like manchurian is like gulab jamun. It's not tasty at all Main course was not good paneer butter masala is like only spices taste not any gravy taste. Staff was so rude.

The food is amazing. The crispy chilli wings were super tasty and the meat just fell off the bone. Bombay Lamb - superb, gravy was well cooked, deep and rich! The Saag Paneer was fresh, paneer was soft and of good quality. Bhindi Masala was probably the best we've eaten from a restaurant. We asked for the vege food to be made without ginger, the staff and owner Murad didn't hesitate and made the food exactly how we requested. Top service and top food. Will 100% be ordering again.

The food is always amazing either eating in or take away. And the staff are really polite and friendly.

I had Daal Makhani, Roti, whiskey & lemonade and ice cream. I walked in and requested a table for one, they immediately made space at the first table on the floor. The drink came immediately, really refreshing, one cube of ice as I asked! They were really welcoming and took my order at my own time. The Daal was really delicious, creamy and nutritious. I loved the inclusion of Rajma (kidney beans). The roti was soft and supple, perfect with the curry. I personally requested ice-cream after seeing the dessert menu; it was two large scoops, really creamy. The restaurant made me feel really welcome and happy. They were really attentive and took care of me.

Best Indian takeaway around here! We have used a few times now. Piping hot food, very generous portions and the flavours are superb!!

Ordered chilli paneer and veg kofta. Chilli paneer was fine but far too much masala. Kofta was average, as it was frozen and not very tasty, also again too much masala. Both dishes were too spicy (even though medium ordered). Probably wouldn't order from this place again.

Best Indian in Harrow, if not London. Love, love, love this place. The mixed grill starter with Kuchori on the side is my go to but love everything I have had from here. Keep up the good work!

This has to be one of the best places for indian food. THEIR chilli panner is to die for. The chefs are amazing and the owner to. Funny enough i done a delivery from them and the chilli paneer reminded me from the young days and i bought a cake for the Chef as a thank you the next day. (Dont always complain when somethings wrong. Even when somethings right you ca do good things to). The prices are good. Located in harrow. Parking on main street (with timings) .

Ordered my favourite fish shashlik take away, then realised it was mainly onions and large pieces of tomatoes, I removed them to find 3 small pieces of fish for £10!

The food from starters to mains are amazing, have been getting takeaways once a week for the last 9 months, can't fault the place. The management and staff are really friendly. Fantastic vegetarian dishes as well. This place is highly recommended.

However this evening it wasnt the best I hope it was just an off day or that you were absolutely busy. Lovely little old school Indian place (i.e. not hipster and annoying) . Everything was lovely - shout out to the chilli sauce amongst the great poppadom sundries. Peshwari nan came just as I like it without horrible sultanas. Curry was a delight.

Not happy with portion size it's too small for the price also need some more improvement in food presentation..gravy on all dishes look the same! Overall loads of room for improvement.

Secret is the right way to describe this place because you would never expect the food to be as good as it is. One of the best Indian cuisines you can buy in Harrow. I bought takeaway over lockdown, they were well prepared with social distancing when collecting. I will definitely continue to buy from here.

Have been a loyal customer for years even when they were based in Northwood Hills! Unfortunately, the takeaway we received yesterday was very poor - the only thing that was enjoyable was the Pilau rice & Bombay potatoes. The meat madras was more like gravy madras with a thick layer of oil and hardly any lamb - butter naan was in pieces and so dry ended up in the bin together with the complimentary poppadum which was squashed to pieces when it arrived to our residence. Not like the good old days where the complimentary sauces were given. Very disappointed

Every main, sauce and side was perfection. Really helpful team, very timely delivery. Wonderfully coconuty korma, expertly seasoned rice and curries. The stand out was the fiery biriani, so so good! We will definitely be ordering again soon. Thank you!

I love their food especially their whole tandoori chicken which is to die for. I have tried quite a few places but always keep coming back to them. The do delivery which is very convenient. Again cannot recommend them enough. Please do not hesitate to taste their food!

Complete let down meal today. Garlic mushrooms were overloaded with garam masala that it was unpalatable to the mouth. Chicken tikka masala was full of gravy with 5 pieces of chicken. Total waste of money.

Food is okay but slightly overpriced. You should put prices on the receipt and don't provide smashed up poppadoms to look like leftovers.

We had dinner here recently and were highly impressed with the quality of the food. The drinks arrived quickly. The service was attentive and friendly and they were able to tweak our dishes to meet our tastes. The restaurant decor is a little dated and was quite quiet for a weekend so not a lot of ambience but this does not take away from the food. Would definitely recommend if in the area.

My favourite type of cuisine is Indian food and have tried many many restaurants, around the UK and in a lot of overseas countries. And this has to be the best I have found. Myself and my partner came across this place in Harrow after apartment viewing last week, and SO happy we did, it is making us more excited to move into the area! Firstly, the other Indian restaurants in the area were either empty or looking like a take-away place with a few tables. So finding this, packed with people, was an instant appeal. They had one table left for us and greeted us so friendly. I could not see my favourite (Cheese and garlic Naan) on the menu and just asked, and he said they will make one especially for me, which was amazing. The service was fabulous, every person there so attentive, smiley and helpful, and they even shook my Partners hand as we went to leave. It was a very personalised service. And the food- Hats off to the Chef! Such scrummy curries and the Onion Bajis were HUGE and tasty as was the rice and Naan breads. Also what I loved about this one, is you could order ANY dish and have it to a spice level of your fancy (I had a medium spicy Chicken Tikka Masala). The Bill came to about the same we usually pay for an Indian meal out and this standard, food and service wise, was definitely the best. Even the added extra of chocolates and hot towels at the end, which you do not get in every Indian Restaurant. We cannot wait to move to Harrow as this will now be our local Indian restaurant for eat-out and take-away. We had both had a bad day, and leaving this restaurant we were giddy happy and smiley. Visited this little restaurant for my sons birthday. Ordered takeaway once from here but only just went for a family meal. Very good service plus food also tasty both vegetarian and non veg. would definitely recommend and go again.

Best actual Indian restaurant in Harrow, authentic and really nice people. I order from here every week. I had my wedding dinner there on the one day they were supposed to be closed, they opened for us regardless of that and made mine and my wife's day perfect, they went above and beyond to do so, and the food was so amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for takeaway eating in or booking the place.

Loved the lamb biryani, service was polite and fast. Vegetable mains were reasonably priced. Rice and naan were slightly expensive. Cobra available on tap. Overall good experience: mid-range prices but good tasting food.

We visited for the first time this evening. The staff were very friendly and the food delicious! Very big choice of both meat and vegetarian dishes. We had 2 paneer dishes and both were delicious. Will definitely be going again soon.
