The food was pretty bad and served ice cold. I wanted to send my plate back to be reheated however server did not return for almost 30 minutes so I ate it. Dessert was tasteless! Atmosphere was nice and staff very friendly. Not sure we will return unless they up their game.

Visited this little hidden gem a number of times since it first opened. The place has changed hands and sorry but it isn’t the same. The cafe is in a better location in the greenhouse as it has more room and the food was lovely. Although the soup portion size was small it suited what we wanted today but it was small. The place has lost something and was disappointing. The gardens are still not in a good state either and they no longer sell herbs. The shop could be so much better

First time here , took my wife for lunch as I knew she would love a wander in the garden afterwards. I had soup and a cheese scone and both were very tasty. She had sausage and bean cassoulet which I tried and we both loved it. She finished with a delicious fruit scone, jam and clotted cream. We really enjoyed our pots of tea from local small business Shibui. A lot of reviews were critical of the servers but we found them to be polite, attentive and friendly. Portions were good and we felt we had good value for money for quality food. When you're finished you can wander around the large greenhouse that houses the cafe. We also enjoyed walking round the gardens. They grow all sorts of plants as botanicals for their on site gin distillery. We do a tour next time we come back.

Lovely setting and staff were exceptionally nice but I felt the price for 2 luke warm cappuccinos and 2 small slices of cake was very expensive at over ÂŁ12.00. sorry but wasn't worth it for me.

This place was going like a fairground today at lunchtime. Many young families enjoying lunch out. Butternut squash soup served in tin mugs with delicious cheese artisan bread. Very good and prompt service. Plenty of homemade cakes on offer too though we didn’t partake.

Ideal on a hot summers day but a little gloomy on others. Not keen on enamel table ware. The fare was favourable.

Flavoursome teas, cakes, quiche and I presume soup, surrounded by gin, herb, plant and related production. I adored the food, earnest staff and the attractions of a great glass house with herbs for sale. Do not drive past.

Revisited here as the first time they were just closing. We had two coffees and a slice of vegan cake. The cake was slightly dry however tasty! Prices were good. Also purchased two small bottles of gin. Very cute place.

Love this place. Cakes are amazing and the coffees and infuses as well. If you haven't been there yet, make sure you stop there to relax half an hour in the glasshouse.

Arrived and were left wondering what we do,order at the counter or sit down. No one acknowledged our arrival and just stared at us like idiots so we sat down and went to the counter ended up have scones which were nice but that’s about were it ended was not a great visit but maybe our expectations were unfair. We will visit again as it’s a lovely place and have a better experience.

My friend and I often meet there for some of their delicious coffee and baking. The berry crumble slice and the scones are particularly delicious. Wrap up warm if you go in winter as on our last visit it was extremely cold. A wood burning stove would be a real asset.

Visited on a quiet pre-Christmas afternoon. Excellent apple and date slice. Partner’s chocolate Xmas log slice was really good too. Cappuccino up to same high standards (no choice on degree of fat in milk though if that matters to you). The atmosphere here is pleasant, and this visit was one of the best as it does get crowded and people queuing by your table can be off putting. Go there, but quiet damp days are best!

This place is beautiful! Easy to find and well signposted with ample parking. Beautiful flowers everywhere with nice benches to rest on whilst browsing, an old car with tables and chairs beside it, a nice greenhouse walkway with herbs, fruits and growing vegetables etc. Little wooden house with more hidden tables and chairs. A nice little sit in/take away tea shop, selling cold juices and hot drinks. Cakes crisps, preserves and handmade crafts, a little on the pricey side but a lovely treat. I believe they do events in the evenings and kids are well catered for, plus it’s free to browse and visit. Worth a visit! You can pick up handy hints along the way and purchase almost anything

Not a secret for locals, this little cafe is an absolute gem. Great coffee, great cakes and quiches (not to mention the cheese scones!) with friendly service. Also love the hidden areas for seating inside the Glasshouse and the relaxed vibe - a perfect place to spend the morning catching up with friends!

Never even heard of this place, secret indeed!! Had quiche and scone. Both were the best I've ever tasted. Loved the different seating choices, cafe, patio, terrace, green house. Meant everyone was spread out so felt very relaxed. Will definitely return.

Ther are a lot of gluten free choices here, however if they are busy the service is very slow. Great coffee and good choice of herbal teas. The choice of sitting in the green house is a nice change especially if it is sunny but cold as it is lovely and warm in there.

By day the Secret Herb Garden is just that - a horticulturists paradise of herbs tended by Hamish and his team. With Cafe and other facilities and services - including wedding receptions. But the delight for us was to attend a FULL MOON dining experience - hosted by fine dining specialist Chefs and their team - (on this occassion - The Norn Restaurant Leith - Edinburgh ). A marvellous 4 course dinner was provided with a treat of uniquely created Hors d'ouvres accommpanied by Vermouth on ice with "Sticky Willy". To be honest the event should be called "Secret Full Moon" dining - because the events are so well attended - you have to book well in advance. And not expensive!

A hidden gem in a lovely setting near Edinburgh. Friendly service, the best bacon rolls ever, delicious scones, cakes and traybakes, along with excellent coffee or tea and a variety of soft drinks. A bonus is the craft work on sale made by local artisans. Can't recommend it enough! Eliz
