Seaview Takeaway in West Somerset

This is our go to place for fish and chips and wouldn't use anywhere else. Always perfectly cooked and delicious. All the staff are very friendly and I couldn't recommend Seaview Fish & Chios highly enough.

Always get fish & chips from here when in Minehead, they are great, just the right size, so quite a good price. Also their cups of tea are always just right, as they don't use cheap & weak tea bags.

Decided on fish and chips on the seafront. Great choice, fish was cooked to order, told would be 5 minutes, nearer to 10, but wow, really tasty. Good portions too

Really tasty hot fish and chips at a reasonable price. A lad was sitting just along from us and also had fish and chips and told his mate it was 'pucker'

Located on the sea front, next to the heritage railway you would have to think this place would be nice, however these were the worst chips I have had for a good while. The place wasn’t especially busy but the chips were slightly under cooked and simply not edible.

Lovely chips which were hot and tasted fresh. I had the sausage in batter and the batter was very crispy and again tasted fresh. Partner had cod and said it was really good.

Love this place, drive 20 odd miles to sit on the front and eat proper, freshly cooked fish and chips. Fish cooked to order, not soggy lumps and nice, hot, crispy chips. Nice to get proper service and a cook that obviously makes an effort. Go here !

Food was ok and some of the staff were friendly. Have gone here a lot over the years but lately feel like the standards are slipping quite a bit which is a shame as felt like it used to be such a lovely atmosphere when visiting. Also I understand the joining shops are part of the same business, no page to review the shop but really disappointed with the lack of service given by a New Zealand lady, completely disinterested, sniggered at my kids who were taking a little while to decide what toys they wanted(they have autism) and served me with such bluntness. Again a shame as everyone used to be so friendly and chatty when coming into the shop. Will give another go in a few weeks on next visit to minehead as hoping it was just a bad day.

My partner and I stayed in minehead for a few days in June 2023 and visited the seaview takeaway on 3 evenings and I can honestly state,we ate the best gluten free fish and chips we have ever eaten in our entire life,served within 10 mins too,by a team of courteous staff. This fish and chip shop are to be highly commended.

Great value for money, £10 for a large fish and chips, cooked fresh too. it was delicious. Served quick too. Great location too, right on the seafront and next to the steam train station

I’m a regular customer here and they usually do so well. The food is good value and the staff are pleasant and professional. This evening I just got forgotten. I placed my order and was told I would have to wait a few minutes (nothing at all wrong with that, as the food is cooked fresh). I was disheartened to see everyone who was served after me being given their orders ahead of me. When I asked where my order was, I was met with puzzled faces. I even had to remind them what I had ordered. In a word - disappointed. I hope higher standards return by my next visit, as I’m keen to support local businesses… but there’s a line!

To be honest we were disappointed with Minehead it was midweek not much going on but hubby desperate for fish and chips sitting on seafront. Wow!!!! Not disappointed best fish either of us have ever had and still talking about it 3 weeks later. Service was excellent and was very clean, the young lady serving was really polite and friendly. Being greedy we had the large fish so didn't eat that many chips, batter was superb and no horrid skin on the fish either. Fantastic

Both myself and the family love this fish and chip shop. Being celiac the team really know how to look after me. Boxed children's meals are always welcomed by my kids. The wife loves the burger and I ger the best gluten free fish and chips ever. The team are friendly and engage with you even when rushed. Great food great team. Well done guys.

Had small cod & chips at the very affordable price of £4.99 & thoroughly enjoyed it. Super quick service, food was piping hot & delicious. Very filling too.

So we went to Seaview as I have been recently diagnosed as a coeliac. I was really excited that they do gluten free as it can be difficult to find. We tried to call ahead to check only to have no answer on 3 attempts. We arrived at 6:45pm and was told they had turned off the gluten free fryer as they were closing in a quarter of an hour. Why put something on your menu for people who have dietary needs and not have the ability to serve until closing time! I was very upset and as my partner had already purchased his I had to watch him eat his fish and chips whilst I had to go home to make something. Why not serve the food provided for people with dietary for the full opening hours! I understand you probably don’t get many people ask for it but at least state on your menu that Gluten free is unavailable from a certain time!

Saw this on Facebook as recommended for gluten free- it was an absolute delight to have fish and chips and GF vinegar- lovely staff too

Fancied something to eat that was quick and easy and this takeaway ticked the box. A small fish and chip supper was £4.99 - generous portions packed in a takeaway box. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner sitting under one of the huts on the prom with a sea view - smashing!

We were on a one day family trip to Minehead on Sunday October 17. Seaview Takeaway has friendly staff and fast service. We ordered two fish and chips and hot dog and chips and the food was tasty and good value. Our son said the hot dog was very good, the fish was fresh and there was a big portion of chips, which were not greasy. We had to check our son's order twice, the staff did not mind the wait and were patient and friendly. Thank you Seaview Takeaway.

firstly, almost £20 for 2 fish and chips is ridiculous... you would expect them to taste nice. I had about 4 chips and a tiny piece of my fish and decided I couldn't stomach them anymore. The fish was 80% batter, it would've been fine if it was edible. Chips tasted like carboard. Way better places to eat in Minehead and I would suggest eating out the bin before eating here again.

Best Chips we’ve had! We shared a large box on our first night (which was huge)! They were gorgeous! Came back numerous times over the week. We have a fav chippy in Filey, but your have certainly taken the top spot! X

Wonderful food and wonderful service, quick service even when it was really really busy. Catered well for dietary needs with a wide Gluten Free Menu, highly recommended.

We purchased cod and chips from here yesterday and I was surprised at how quickly the order was processed. I’m used to having to wait whilst the food is freshly cooked so this should have been an indication of the freshness.The chips weren’t fresh and had a tang to them we all found them to be disgusting and inedible. The batter on the fish wasn’t cooked thoroughly on the inside and was greasy and the fish tasted like frozen fish and not fresh cod like were used to.A complete waste of money as it ended up in the nearest bin.

We had walked from blue anchor so we’re really ready for a fish lunch !we bought fish and chips from here I had the mini fish and chip and my husband had the normal size which was a very generous portion ... it was excellent! the fish was cooked well crispy batter and flaky fish the chips were lovely we will be back next time we are in town well done

Called here for fish and chips whilst on holiday in Minehead. The staff were very polite and patient as I changed my order several times whilst placing it. The food came exactly as the revised order and was really good. my husbands fish was very good and my pea fritter was exceptional. would totally recommend.

Lunchtime pitshop as out walking. Went for the mini fish & chips as wanted something light. If the portion served was 'mini' Lord only knows what a normal sized portion would be 😊 Lovely piece of fish, light crispy batter and lovely chips. Great value

We had fish and chips from this take-away on 1 September for the first time and we were very impressed with the quality and quantity of the food. The chips were lovely - chunky and not at all greasy - and the fish batter was light and crispy. It was an absolute treat and I thoroughly recommend this take-away.

We visited Minehead beach on a super hot and sunny day and ordered lunch from here and ate it on the beach - perfect!We had a big order but everything was cooked fresh, quickly and it was all packed in individually cardboard boxes so easy to eat off of laps on the beach. Reasonably priced and tasted so so so good!

Has to be the best fish and chips ever..... Social distancing not a problem here... Extremely efficient and beautifully cooked.... Definitely recommend to everyone who likes good food and plenty of it.....

Just received our first delivery from Seaview during the lockdown as they didn’t deliver previously.Absolutely delicious. My husband said it’s probably the best fish he’s ever had and he’s from Grimsby! My scampi was lovely as were the chips and mushy peas. Great service on the phone and quick delivery.Will definitely order again

The best GF fish and chips in the world!! The food is cooked in a separate fryer. I even had a little message on my box.

After getting of train we could smell fish and chips and followed the smell and it took us here it was some of the best fish and chips we had in along time.

We visited on a Friday night and it was very quiet. We had quite a wait for our food but this was because it was all cooked fresh by order. We had two large cod and chips, a jumbo sausage and cone of chips, a gravy and a curry sauce. All was hot and tasty. The food was priced as expected, however we thought it a bit mean to charge 30p for a sachet of ketchup. The only major let down was the grumpy young man who served us. He was jolly and giggly with his colleagues but every time he spoke to a customer he appeared to turn into a scowling, moody mess.

Family of four had food. The mini cod and chips for me and son was fab just the right amount. The chips could have been a lot better some were very dried up. The fish was great. We ate by the sea and enjoyed it. Prices not bad.

On a very wet Monday night we came home late and fancied fish and chips. Having driven round and round Minehead we were about to give up when we passed The Seaview Takeaway by the station and thought we would give it a go. We sat in the car on The Esplanade and had the best fish and chips we’ve had for a long tine. Well cooked, well presented and delicious.

We came down to Minehead as it such lovely weather , we decided to come here for fish and chips seems as it’s on the seafront and we spent quite abit of money for shocking portions and dried up fish , certainly won’t be revisiting !

After a busy day out in Minehead we decided to have takeaway fish and chips and saw The Seaview takeaway, the staff are lovely and friendly and very helpful, I had the mini cod and chips and my husband had the standard cod and chips, we also ordered a curry sauce. The fish and chips were freshly cooked and put into boxes which made it very easy for us to eat our meal in our car. The fish and chips were the best I have ever tasted, the batter was light and crisp, the chips and curry sauce were also very tasty. Thank you Seaview.

we went into Minehead and this was the only Fish and chip shop open and it's next to the West Somerset Railway we grabbed ourselves a fish and chips and sat on the other side of the road in a shelter over looking the sea the food was very nice and so was the view

Cooked fresh upon ordering and fish & chips were hot and tasty. Decent portion sizes. Would prefer cod to have more batter but would get a takeaway from there again.

Stopped in for fish and chips after walking in Porlock, chips were fine but the fish batter whilst crispy on the top was soggy and not cooked sufficiently on the bottom - didnt eat it... disappointed.

The chips were lovely not greasy at all but the cheese and onion pasty was raw . It was proberbly a one off .

called today they were very busy there was a younger girl with dark hair serving on left hand side who was serving people fast , and older lady on right hand side who was also busy i stood in que they shouted whos next when i was at front of que and people were jumping in front back of que the older lady ignored me completely even tho i was stood in front of her i thought i was being polite by waiting she went on to next order it resulted in me walking away i was ignored and older lady did not apologize how many customers do you lose from this ladys aproach to customers ? each 1 person walking away is bad custom especially when they are polite in waiting a good 15 mins in front of server

Visited this chip shop before going home what a mistake. Cone a chips turned out to be a mini pouch so small wouldn't have fed a seagull,mini fish and chips the chips were soggy and white,the fish was greasey, the sausage child's meal was disgusting hard sausage he couldn't even chew how long had that been cooking? £17.85 for what a pile of rubbish and the girls serving need a bomb up there back side dopey pair won't ever come here .

Whenever we we came here for holidays the staff here are so cheerful, very happy and always have the most impeccable customer service. The chips are delicious and the curry sauce is a dream. Thank you for your wonderful effort.

Sort of OK food- seemed quite pricy, but typical of price gouging when you are the only chippy around, and the nearest to Butlins.

Called here on a Thursday afternoon to get sausages and chips. How can a battered sausage be soft on the outside but rock hard inside. Chips were just pale and soft. I hope this takeaway does it better in the holiday season.

I think that average is fair for this establishment. They serve standard quality chips, nothing special.

The mini cod and chips is a perfect smaller option. It was well cooked and the service was quick and friendly.

I bought regular chips, and wish I'd opened them immediately to complain. They tasted dreadful, I'm sure the oil used was ancient. I threw them all away and won't be going to this place again.

Only cod or scampi (plus fishcake) as fish choices. No place or haddock is offered. Anyway the cod is fine and the portions good sized.

This was a really good take away fish and chip shop. The fish was cooked as we waited and the batter was lovely with nice plump white cod. Chiips were plentiful and a large portion did 3 of us. The lady serving had been there 15years and was lovely. Well worth the wait in the bitter cold for freshly cooked fish.

we had never tried this place despite living nearby for six years or so as it looked like a typical seafront tourist trap - we therefore assumed the food would not be up to much. How wrong we were - beautifully fresh fish in light batter served with the best chips we had eaten in a long time. Staff incredibly friendly and polite - in conclusion - excellent in all respects.

Pity we didn't go here sooner rather than wasting money at Jubilee Cafe. Food we had was tasty and a fraction of the price plus the cup of tea filled the cup. Staff were really friendly.

I took my family down to minehead for a weeks holiday, decided to have fish and chips on the sea front and food was perfect, portion sizes were just right! Staff were very friendly, will defiantly be returning!

Chips were greasy and soggy. Batter on Battered sausage looked undercooked due to pale colour to the point I had to tap it to see if it was crisp. It was slightly crisp but again soggy. My husband had fish cake which had some colour but was the cheap brand of fish cake, nothing special. Such a shame considering it's position on the sea front. It's put us off going to the chip shop for a while.

Absolutely atrocious food. Oil drenched and floppy and pale.I took them back and asked for a refund which, to be fair the lady did give me no fuss which was appreciated but shouldn't have been necessary.

Chips were reheated and the battered fish could be wrung out, using the excess oil to power my Landrover. Visited minehead a few times without trying this chip shop. Definitely wont be going again.

My colleague and I was in Minhead for the West Somerst Railway Steam Gala on Friday 28th and decided to treat ourselves to Fish And Chips to take on the train with us at lunchtime.

Spent a weekend down minehead with my family staying on Butlins for the football and rugby with the kids! First tried the other shop located on sea front I think was the red one was shocking a full of what seemed to be all teenage kids with no supervision! On the other hand the staff at this chippy were amazing the food was fresh with real chips being served! Nice portions to couldn't recommend it enough went both days and would go again definetly the best in town.

2 small fish and chip dinners, 1 kids meal which included a bucket and spade and 1 portion of scampi , 3 sort drinks - just short of £20

Me and my family have recently been staying in minehead among the ex moor coast line I was very impressed with the service and level of food I received when visiting this chip shop my dad is an extremely fussy eater and even he finished it down to the last few chips was fresh and lovely brilliantly white fish, my husband had ordered the large cod and it was massive definitely would recommend this! Where also very keen to supply free dog water as I was un prepared that morning so helpful!

Just experienced my first fish and chips in Minehead, I was welcomed into the store with a smile from the young lady on the front of house. I waited for my standard Cod and chips that was cooked fresh to order. I was amazed at the gracious and polite etiquette of all whom work at Seaview. This is by far the best Cod and chips I've experienced in England.

Literally the worst we've ever had. Was looking forward to eating these but had to throw them away as it was terrible. Seemed like they'd been dehydrated and rehydrated not very successfully a number of times. Very disappointed - and out of pocket.

Like most people I suspect, an evening walk along the promenade in a seaside town is not complete without fish and chips. Seaview looks bright and clean so we gave it a try and were really pleased we did. Good sized portions, lovely chips, reasonably priced and cheerful staff who appeared pleased to serve customers. Recommended.

You really can't come to a seaside town for a few days and not enjoy a fish and chip supper on the esplanade. Cheerful staff and good size portions. Just the right amount of salt and vinegar. Delicious. And the gulls stayed away too!

Stopped by and had some of their cheesy chips. A cup of tea in a mug, not a plastic/cardboard cup. Very tasty with pleasant staff trying to do their best to please. Will visit again, may well be the best on the front.

When you go to a chippy you expect fried fresh cut chips. Although I would not go so far as to say they were frozen, they were similar to your typical wetherspoon chips! Wouldn't go back....

There are a couple of fish and chip shops on the seafront. We were drawn to this one by a reasonable queue outside on a chilly December lunchtime. We were booked somewhere for dinner later and wanted something fairly small to keep us going. Cue the "min cod and chips". Ideal, priced at £3.95, freshly cooked fish and a good portion size for our needs.
