Seafield Arms in Aberdeenshire

Been visiting the Banff area for a number of years. Our evening meal was excellent and the best we have had in a local hotel or restaurant in the area for a long time. Wish we had discovered it before. Brilliant food in a true North East atmosphere. Staff and other customers genuinely friendly. Will be back on our next visit. Thank you.

The staff are absolutely excellent(all of them) Claire is a massive asset to the bar alongside the other members of the team. The food is first class with ample portions which can be enjoyed in the restaurant or in the bar which is a proper bar. I can thoroughly recommend visiting the Seafield Arms, you won't regret it.

Brilliant pub full of atmosphere. Dog friendly and Dave the landlord very attentive despite a busy evening with England V's Fiji World Rugby game being shown on the big TV screen. Food delicious and huge portions! Friendly team went out of their way not to rush you either so able to enjoy our meal. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing place, exceptional food, amazing staff, friendly locals and a landlord who welcomed us, our dogs and even took us home after we missed our bus to Portsoy. The place is full of charm, rarely do you see a pub like this anymore, a breath of fresh air. Must visit if you are in the area.

We had been recommended this establishment by a couple of people and were really looking forward to seeing what the place had to offer. We had only been in Whitehills less than 1 hour after a 7 hour drive. Owner approached us from behind in an abrupt manner before we even got through the door, no polite 'sorry, we are full or offer of us sitting outside which was empty (which is what we had intended with dogs. Just 'you can't go in, we're full, no tables. We explained we didnt want food..just a quick drink.. Not a great 1st impression.. Needless to say we spent our money elsewhere. Shame really..we had been looking forward to eating there during our stay....(although I did pop in for a drink a few days later to see if it was a 'one off' .customers and staff were really nice, owner however didn't even acknowledge me...

Didn’t get in door, landlord was abrupt, said ‘you CANT come in, no tables, pub full, karaoke on’.😡

After being away from the area for 9 years, I booked the Seafield Arms for 5 nights as part of a nostalgic trip. Excellent accommodation especially the amazingly comfortable bed, super food and charming, helpful, cheerful staff led by a hardworking, positive owner, who obviously promotes the impressive ethos. Thank you for helping to make my trip such a success.

Great pub and hotel. The service was fantastic and the food was quite a surprise. A notch up from regular pub grub. We had our 2 dogs with us and stayed overnight. The staff made both us and our dogs feel very welcome. Making sure they had water and were ok. We bought a meal off the doggie menu for them and it was full of chicken and rice. The dogs loved it. Our food was superb. The breakfast was equally as good. 10 out of 10.

Have just moved back to the village of Whitehills and am lucky that we have such a lovely hotel to go for tasty food and iced cold drinks. Really chuffed to have taken my friends for food . They were highly impressed . Dave, Gilly and all the team are so friendly and always accommodate personal requests/cater for the fur babies . I have had some lovely family parties here too and memories to cherish . The chefs certainty know how to cook up great foods and flavours. Can only but recommend you visit . The garden is looking so beautiful too .

My wife and I were walking through Whitehills and noted some advertising for this venue, highlighting all the negative comments on trip advisor. We did what any sane middle aged couple would do, and visited it. Well I was totally shocked at how pleasant the staff were and the landlord was more helpful. Apparently the village idiot was on annual leave so we never got to meet him. Gutted. Overall the visit was a pleasant one and I’m in two minds whether to complain about the blatant false advertising which drew us in. In all seriousness, a nice venue with pleasant smiley staff, decent beer and banter. What more could you want?

Amazing evening had dinner with my family food 10/10 and the service impeccable, the owner is definitely attentive to the needs of his patrons without being overbearing,well done to you and your team job well executed .We cannot wait for our return visit to your establishment 👌

Keeping it brief - great food and an excellent job done by the young staff all spoiled by the offensive jerk of a man whom I think was called Dave. We thought the days of the village idiot were gone but apparently not.

Great pub dinner. Soup and Mussels starters were both memorably good. The scampi main was excellent, but the seafood curry was the star. Well kept draft beer. Excellent service and local atmosphere. All at sensible prices. Will be back.

Had dinner at the Seafield Arms on the second evening of our break. I'm not sure what to say...service was excellent, especially given the challenges that Covid 19 has brought upon us. Food was fantastic. My wife enjoyed Camembert to start followed by a spicy but flavoursome Thai red curry with chicken whilst I kicked off with a smoked haddock and cheddar fishcake followed by pork medallions and Stornoway black pudding. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and will likely re-visit before we return home.

From service to meal absolutely amazing and as my little boy put it 5 star all-round Best steak I've had in Aberdeenshire!!

Had a lovely meal here. Homemade fish pie (potato topped) although my only problem was that I couldn’t have a starter and my choice of dessert was pavlova or ice cream as I’m gluten free. I would have liked something a bit different from the usual other than that it was great.

First time for me but others in group had been before. Cannot speak too highly about the Way we were greeted. The speed of ordering and delivery of food. Hot, well cooked and very tasty. Highly recommended

We are currently on holiday here and have ate here 3 times so far. I can honestly say this is the best restaurant that I've had fish in. It is delicious my daughter has had macaroni cheese and ate the lot and tonight she finished off my husband's wale of a fish!! The wines are superb and so is the service, nothing is too much trouble and you are made to feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend coming!

We returned to the Seafield Arms. This pub reminds us of the local in the village I grew up in. A real community pub, with locals who were as friendly as the staff. We were welcomed by the landlord ‘Web Dave’ - he doesn’t have mermaid feet but builds websites. This pub oozes charm and gave us a ‘warm hug’ - not literally as we are still sticking to social distancing, but by the ethos, a caring manager, happy staff and great food. Try the stroganoff- fantastic, and Granny loved the apple crumble. The limoncello was definitely the signature drink, but there are plenty more to try! We will return- hopefully during normal times and have a few wee bevvies. I wish the walls could talk and tell us some of the tales from this fishing community. If you want a true taste of Scotland then ignore the tourist honey pot sites and the overpriced tours and head to Whitehills, the Banffshire coast and a warm hug at the Seafield Arms.

Most definitely recommend. The meals were delicious and the fish tasted really fresh. A ‘proper’ pub with locals and fabulous photographs of the fishing industry. Really friendly and attentive staff. Wish we had discovered this gem earlier in the week. Dog friendly in the bar too.
