We ate in the bar and were comforted by the Hotel's attention to COVID 19 rules. The menu was a bit limited but the food was very well prepared - the steak was outstanding. We really enjoyed our first dinner out for 5 months. The service was friendly and efficient. No complaints.

Visited pub for dinner the night before my wedding. It was relaxed, really lovely staff and food was delicious. All 6 of us were raring about our meals! Wish I'd had dessert too but decided to resist for the dress!! My dad still talks about how amazing the meal was...and that's a HUGE complement!

Awfully rude and obnoxious owner, made a very inappropriate comment to my 18 year old daughter!he is old enough to be her grandad, he should also remember a woman is not an object either. He should keep his comments to himself and actually spend his time running the place instead of burdening his guests with his arrogance! Service was terrible took ages for food to come and when it arrived it was bland and underwhelmeing concidering the price! Could of cooked my own dinner and had a nice night instead of coming here and being disappointed! Place needs a revamp and new owners so they can widen there customer base! Food used to be really good but seems chefs have changed and its all a shambles! The place needs TLC, work done and someone who cares about it more than their persona! Will not be back and will warn others to not waste their money coming here! What a shame for such a beautiful place.

We stayed at the hotel and had dinner and breakfast there. Interestingly they allowed us to choose whether to sit in the restaurant quietly, or to enjoy our dinner in the bar. Both places serve different menu but they allow us to order from both. Bar has 100+ whiskies selection and the boss Andrew knows almost everything about it! Ask him for opinion if you don't know what to choose. The room comes with breakfast and it was ala Carte on top of a buffet of croissant, yogurt and dried fruits. It was a sumptuous breakfast and we really enjoy EVERYTHING there.

Although not sitting in the elegant Dining Room but in the "pub" area the same meals were offered - overall much more cozy. During my stay in Huntly I went there twice - above all since my first dinner has been very good. Good local draft beer (ale) choice. All food was fresh, tasteful and well prepared and especially to mention are the lamb shank who was very soft and tender and the well spiced deer kebab. Shetland mussels were really nice together with a creamy sauce. Don't miss the apple-plum frangipane - lovely. Very friendly staff.

We had our meal in the bar as it was less formal. There were 8 of us. The food was excellent and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The big problem with the Castle Hotel is that due to the bridge being unsafe no vehicular access is available directly from Huntly town centre. Access now has to be via the back drive which is unattractive and difficult to find if you are unfamiliar with the area.

Meeting friends for an early evening meal in the Castle Hotel bar. We were seated quickly as we’d booked and were soon being served. We each had a different dish from the varied delicious menu which was served promptly and was nice and hot. The food was lovely - all of us agreed. We then had a sweet which again was delicious. We never felt hurried in any way and enjoyed a leisurely meal.

Stunning surroundings and beautiful hotel. Stopped for some lunch and decided on the surf and turf. Amazing value at £15.95! Was absolutely delicious. Place was busy which is always a good sign.

We booked a table at the Castle hotel after a recommendation from the proprietor of the bed and breakfast that we were staying at. For starters my wife had the Venison Pate, as someone had already commented on trip advisor the presentation does not look very appealing. Apparently it was a lot better than it looked. I had the haggis and pork scotch egg which I enjoyed. For mains we both had the north sea platter. Really good, well presented and good value for money. For desert I had the baked chocolate fondant, again delicious. Would recommend.

The dining room is nice as well but the bar is just excellent. Cozy, warm fire and comfortable leather chairs. Note: there is something dramatically wrong with TripAdvisor algorithms ranking anything in Huntly ahead of this restaurant. We've eaten at most of them and this is not a matter of opinion. We visited just before Christmas and there was a party going on in the dining room so we ate in the bar. We were able to choose from the bar or restaurant menus and what a fantastic selection of food. All fresh and local and beautifully cooked. I had the smoked haddock scotch egg for starter and I have to say I would go back for that alone. Beautifully done with great subtle flavours. We had a variety of meals ...chicken schnitzel, chicken and leek pie, burger and surf and turf. All great meals. Portion sizes just right ...too many places these days go for quantity over quality but these were all perfect. Only one of us managed a pudding but again was great selection.Staff very busy but friendly and efficient. The hotel is very well sign posted from the A96..just follow signs. Lots parking and great location. Will go back in daylight to take in the view. Lunch menu also looked very nice so wouldn't hesitate to stop off when passing through. We had booked a table and were seated promptly, then ignored. No menus appeared and after half an hour we were approached and asked if we wanted dessert! A small apology was made and menus appeared, we were close to walking out. Service was non existent. When we did get our meal, about an hour later, mine was not as stated on the menu. We were not asked at any point, as is usual in hotels, if everything was okay. Food was "dumped" on the table and then the server just turned and left.I am afraid our experience was enough to score this off our return list.

My sisters, friends and I came here for the buffet carvery on the last Sunday of October. After hearing great things about the buffet and evening meals here, I was looking forward to this all month. We were sat in the bar and it had a real cosy front room, family feel to it. There was almost a sense of occasion, a real treat at the end of the month. The starters were light and tasty. Such as prawn cocktail, pasta salad, smoked salmon. All the meat in the carvery was cooked to perfection. The only thing I was disappointed with was the Yorkshire puddings being burnt! Other than the meat there were some excellent options such as broccoli and cauliflower cheese which was tasty. The chicken curry was not really to my taste. The gnocchi with salmon really stood out for me out of the whole meal, absolutely delicious – wish I’d put some more on my plate! I would 100% order that in a restaurant.A great selection of desserts – a variety of cakes, vanilla panna cotta, trifle and sticky toffee pudding. All delightful! Well worth saving lots of room at the end for.I found the waiters welcoming and attentive throughout. My sister had been to the buffet previously and she thought on her last visit that she preferred the dessert selection, but this time there was more of a main course selection. I guess they mix it up a bit each time which is a good thing. In total the carvery was £25. I think this is reasonable for the amount and quality of the food you get here. If I’m ever in the mood for a carvery again, I’ll certainly be back.

Disappointingly this place has hit the iceberg.........it's going down. The whole ambiance has gone and it will be hard to get back. The waitress got the order wrong - but we lived with that until the table of guests next to us went into spasm because their food was all wrong too. The host made it perfectly clear - more than once - that we were not wanted by ignoring our presence. So that is it - we move on elsewhere, somewhere where we will get civility and food that we order.

The meal was beautifully presented and I enjoyed my Plaice dish with potato dauphinoise. Not so keen on the sea weed vegetables which had hard stalks in them making me think I had a fish bone to deal with which I hadn't. the fish was lovely. My husband had the Pork but found the dauphinoise potatoes undercooked. they were fine for me. We ordered wine by the glass as he was driving and I did not feel I could drink a whole bottle! I chose the Sauvignon blanc as I dislike Chardonnay with a passion but I found the wine a bit sharp and not to my taste. the waitress was lovely and suggested we buy a bottle and take home what we couldn't drink which is what we did. the Sancerre was quite reasonably priced at £24.95.

Sadly, it was Hobson's choice at the buffet for the main meal - roast beef in three different cooking stages and to be honest there was a small piece of pork that could be offered. Two of my party cannot eat meat for various reasons, but on this occassion they had to have a go. To me I had never tasted better - and I prefer beef to anything else. We had stunning choices for starters and sweet courses and enjoyed every spoonful. The question remains where was the chicken or turkey choice. There is slippage here that has never been seen before.

We are now regulars at the Seafield Arms as it is so good. It was my birthday and where else would we go for a special meal. This time, we tried the surf and turf block. We were not disappointed as the seafood and steak were cooked to perfection. As well as the fresh local vegatable selection. The hotel manager had to get up at 4am to get the lobster. That is dedication to perfection. Our friend had a sirloin steak, cooked to her satisfaction. Our daughter had the mac and cheese and was more than happy. The girls finished the meal with sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee. Yum Yum. The service was professional and very friendly. We have a concern, what will we have to eat the next time as it is all so good.
