Best chip shop in England and lovely people

Our local fish and chip shop. Always great fish and chips with a warm welcome.

Ordered some Haddock and chips earlier today.One of the greatest I’ve had in a long time.Fish was flaky, batter was crispy,flavour was there and was huge!! Absolutely outstanding.Chips were excellent and beautiful. Oh and I must say the curry sauce was to die for.

Cash only. Chips were over salted. Curry sauce was too salty. Fish tasted burnt and was very dry. Won't be back.

First bad experience, they did offer discount but I have decided not to return as sausage was in poor condition, broken, it was as if it was reheated.

Lovely food, good portion sizes, but not huge considering the premium prices. Food is cooked to order so you do have to wait. Only cash is accepted and how many carry cash these days? On other occasions I have bought snacks from Simmonds because I didn’t have cash to get F&C.

You cannot fault the food it is excellent and good size portions. The only thing that lets this place down is the slow service and the not so friendly staff(not even an apology or thank for waiting so long). Oh and cash only !! During my 25 minute wait for cod & chips(£10.50 by the way) I saw 5 people not have cash and left without ordering I think you need to wake up and move into the 21st century and not rely on Tesco cash machine next door.

I oredered 2x large cod with 1x large chips.As my American lady wanted to try fish and chips.The portions especially the huge fish were so large we had fish and chips the second night. The chips come up well in the actifry She loved it **RECOMMENDED **

A really really good battered sausage, chips and curry sauce for £6.90. The portion size of chips is a lot smaller than Berkhamsted Fish Bar. Not tried anything else.

Tempted to give a bad review in case it gets too busy..... but I just can't do that ..... This is by far the BEST chippy. BIG TIP..... PHONE AHEAD, AND ITS CASH ONLY ( Don't Rely on Tesco's cash machine...... 10 out of 10 chef

Good food although haddock/cod is an absolute massive portions

The best fish and chips you can get in berko cod bites are unique and tasty portions. Really well presented and friendly staff who take pride in their service. Highly recommended.

Best Fish & Chippy from Berko to Cornwall, I have nothing but praise for these guys and a great service 10 out of 10 all day long everything is so fresh as cooked for you will be back on my next visit up from South-West!!! Brilliant Food !!!

Very small potions even when you order large stingy on the chips not the best sausages only thing I would say is good their curry sauce

Food was good but had to wait 30 mins for a bag of chips and one sausage. Two people are served before us and when we complained no apology just excuse real shame

Very good chip shop. I come here regularly. Food is always good quality. Clean, hygienic, friendly and cheerful.

I drive 10 miles just to get my fish and chips from seafare.

When customers just order chips there shouldn't be a 15 minute wait.

Obviously, I wasn't lucky enough to get non-greasy fish and warm crispy chips. Encouraged by all these good reviews wanted to try for the first time. I won't return here.

Says open...10 mile round trip to discover it was in fact closed.

Cod bites. Somehow no more expensive than a medium cod but you feel like Jesus when you make one bag feed three people.

What you would expect from a fish and chip shop. Reasonable service. Big portions. The fish was cooked very nicely. It is cash only, but isn't a problem, as there is a cash machine outside.

First of all, everybody who says the portions are big are absolutely correct, they are massive!!! Prices are OK much cheaper then by the beach that's for sure I've had better though but it was still good.

Not a great experience here lm sorry to say... For somewhere that prides itself on what it serves, Fish & Chips. Please can you at least keep the product hot. Come on, you can do so much better than this but if you don't want to - THERE ARE MUCH BETTER FISH & CHIP SHOPS IN TOWN.....

Moved into the area fairly recently and been looking for a good fish and chip shop. Have had some poor and some ok from other local alternatives. Have to say the fish and chips from here are more than just good they’re excellent. Batter was light and crisp and chips were good too. Very happy and will now only buy from McCoy’s in future.

Very good fish and chips at a reasonable price. Always consistently good whenever we visit relatives nearby or Whipsnade zoo feeding the family on the hoof is made all the more easily accessible knowing we're going to get good food every time. Would highly recommend.

Having ordered and collected 28 fish and chips for our social evening at Kitcheners bowls club served piping hot and very tasty and thanking mcCoys for the good service

Quite expensive as fish and chip shops go in my opinion. Even though I visited as soon as they opened, I still had to wait for over 10 minutes for chips to be ready. Despite all this negativity the food was actually nice and the upside to waiting was that my chips were really fresh.
