We drove quite a way to get fish and chips as a treat for my mother in law who is 98 and housebound. But they’re no longer open Sunday. Disappointed!

We both really enjoyed the best English fish & chips ever, well worth the trip over. If you ever come to france you must look us up!

Fantastic food and service, family of six, all meals lovely and hot. shop and staff well presented and very clean. Shop is very well set up for orders with clear social distancing measures in place, queing orderly outside with a one in, one out policy. Clear instructions on the windows and clear instructions from shop staff. Card reader cleaned before and after use. Very reassuring in these uncertain times.

Perfect fish and chips for all the family. Fantastic fish. Chips were great and a perfect portion size. The social distance measures are firmly in place. There are lots of signs on the window. Staff are friendly and helpful. The shop is one in one out which is a perfect system.

I previously left a review detailing a poor experience I had had at this chips shop when I was told there was no gluten free food past 20:30 and was sent away just after; when in reality they had run out of batter mix and this was miscommunicated. I have decided to delete that review as I don't think it's a good representation of this business. I had contacted seafare earlier in the day, they messaged me in the evening asking if I had managed to get my chips and enjoyed them and I then explained the situation. They were very helpful and apologetic, and said the website would be corrected to show the times gluten free food was available to avoid this happening to other customers. I was also offered a free gluten free cod and chips. We ordered that, as well as a gluten free battered sausage and chips last night which we expected to pay for, but were given both meals for free. The sausage, fish and chips were perfectly cooked. The batter was the nicest gluten free batter I've had. The staff were very friendly, and I've got up the following day and haven't had a reaction so I'm confident they take cross contamination seriously. Fish and chips is something I've really missed so it's great to find somewhere that provides it gluten free - 5 stars :-)

We ordered fish and chips for around 70 people and it was delicious! The service was exceptional, especially with such a large order! The order was correct, delivered hot to our door and the portions were very generous. We will definitely be using Seafare St John's again! Thank you.

I frequently visit Seafare, often buying large quantities for hungry staff, and have always been impressed with the quality of the service and the food. A great local chippy!

Normally a great chip shop, but this visit was terrible. Less than half a scoop of chips and a tiny portion of fish. Both were freezing cold. Couldn’t taste the salt and vinegar. As chip shops go, this is quite expensive, I’ll go elsewhere now.

We came here for the gluten free fish and chips. I was excited to go somewhere that took cross contamination into account and contacted the shop in advance to check if gluten free options were available today.

Can’t thank Jonny and his team enough for supplying our meals for our works evening do. All meals were correct and delivered still hot to our door. Having catered for us, my team at Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove day nursery were able to concentrate on the who done it at our murder mystery evening. consistent quality, good choice, gets busy at peak times but they get to you quickly, parking outside orr around the corner when really busy

My friend recommended this great takeaway - we are both gluten free - so had to try the gluten free cod & chips (every Monday) and they were FANTASTIC! They tasted ‘normal’ .. and the staff were efficient and friendly- couldn’t ask for more..

Been here a few times and each time you barely get any chips. Shame really as they taste good. Other local chippys are much more generous with their portion sizes.

I had looked on their menu at an adult burger which was £3.00 and their was also a kids burger priced at £2.00. However when i had ordered the adult burger the kids burger had both been the same size for the two prices.

I can’t fault this shop at all! Food is amazing, if you want something cooked that isn’t already ready they will cook it for you which doesn’t take long at all. Staff are very warm and welcoming, even when it’s busy they ensure they do your order efficiently and correctly. Highly recommend!

Stopped off at this outlet and allowed my 11 year old grandson to go in alone and buy a bag of chips at 8.40pm on a Tuesday night after shooting club at Bisley Ranges. Drove 3.2 kilometers home with unopened packet of chips ( small portion £1.95p).

We used Seafare for a fish and chip supper at a charity fundraising quiz evening last week. From the first enquiry and at every point of contact thereafter they were helpful, friendly and accommodating and they even delivered the 100 portions on time and well wrapped in tin foil lined boxes so they were nice and hot still.

We used Sefare for our evening wedding catering! The service was perfct from start to finish, so friendly, on time and great presentation and communication. The food was equally as good and all the guests raved how great the fish and chips were. We'll be coming back and recommending to everyone we know! THANK YOU! x

Over 60 meals delivered right on time. Many comments from the party on how nice the fish was. This was the third time we have used Seafare for this and have been pleased every time.

Worst fish and chip shop locally. Greasy fish. Tastes nasty. Total waste of money as it went in the bin.

On phoning Seafare at lunchtime to request Fish'n'Chips for a party of twenty that evening, I was met with a friendly and efficient service. Johnny was very reassuring and offered a delivery service; although, the timing was a little later that we would have liked. The order was taken promptly and my husband went to collect that evening. The large order was all ready for collecting and packaged brilliantly. The order was absolutely perfect and the free vinegar much appreciated! On hearing that the event was a small quiz night, Johnny threw in some extra vouchers which was very kind of him.

Cannot fault the food, we've always had good fish and chips from Johnny and his team. Lovely staff, always friendly. I would recommend.

Proper fish and chips - crispy batter, not greasy, and lovely fish in generous portions. Plenty of other choices available too - including some fun seasonal favourites like battered pigs in blankets and also gluten free and low calorie options. Friendly staff and reasonably priced, there really is no need to go anywhere else. All the fish is sustainably sourced as well.

When we have fish and chips we always visit Seafare Woking as the food is superb! The only negative are the queues which can occur at busy times, but that is to be expected with lots of people wanting quality food!

Came into Seafare St. John’s on Saturday evening at about 5:30 and wow. I couldn’t be more impressed. The food was fantastic. I had purchased 2 x cod and chips 1x kids sausage and 1x kids nuggets and could not be happier from the service to the taste of the food. This chip shop has seriously come so far from how it was a few years ago. This chip shop is my regular and I just had to show some recognition. I’ve made good relationships with the staff to the point they know which meals have salt and vinegar. ‘’ salt and vinegar on just the cod and chips and a little salt on the kids sausage ‘’ Thankyou seafare St. John’s for a happy husband and children weekly.

Horrible fish & chips purchased. The fish was over cooked and very greasy. Im sure it was a piece that had been reheated from the lunchtime leftovers.

After years of being regular customers we stopped about 2 years ago after some bad experiences. We started again a few months ago and things looked promising - until yesterday when one of our pieces of fish was brown instead of white, and was dry and tough (not what is expected when eating fish!). We returned it and were asked if we wanted another one. Not surprisingly, we said 'no'. We didn't ask for, but neither were we offered, a refund. Someone suggested to me that the fish may have either been frozen too hard or for too long. I can't comment but I note a similar review a couple of weeks ago. We would really have liked this outlet to be our regular, but it won't be as long as we can't be sure of consistency in quality.

Not enjoyable cod & chips. Dry-but-just-about-acceptable fish, but dire chips (5.15.pm-reheated from lunchtime/fat not hot enough?). We're regular, although infrequent customers, either here or at Stoughton & have never been disappointed before, but will now think twice about returning. Sad.

What you would expect of a local chippy! Good choice of fish and the option of gluten free batter on certain days.

The service at seafare was very impressive. The chap frying behind the counter was very jolly and upbeat. Nothing was too much effort. The girl who served me was very polite and helpful. The chip shop was very clean with a cheery atmoshere. The fish and chips were amazing. I will definitely be going there again

After waiting 20 minutes for my order to be cooked I overheard the staff tell her manager he needed to cook a pie for my order, he told her it would be ten minutes. She just laughed and didn’t bother to inform me so I asked if it was my order that would take another ten minutes, once again she laughed and told me it was mine that would be another ten minutes. I asked for a refund and the manager told her to give me it immediately. She didn’t know how to refund my money back onto my card so gave me the cash, after asking whether it was a full refund I wanted, I hadn’t received any of my order so far so yes I wanted a full refund. Not once did they apologise for the wait or inconvenience. Very disappointing service. Also the picture and signs on the wall are full of dust and grease.

One my favourite fish and chip shops in Woking. And like that they do a gluten free fish day. And they have my favourite gerkins and pickled eggs. Always great chips.

We live in Farnborough, Hants and we think nothing of travelling fourteen miles just to get fish & chips from Seafare, St Johns, Woking. The staff are lovely, We have been coming to this shop for years and will keep coming back again and again. We have not found a better Chip Shop.

Once again I cannot recommend this chippy highly enough, best I have tasted in the South of England, will carry on telling people about this place

For various reasons, I've not eaten a single takeaway in nearly 10 years (no takeaway pizza, chips, burgers, etc.). I thought it was about time to try one so went to Seafare. The chips were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of salt and vinegar. For a 'small', the portion of cod was generous with light and fluffy batter. The staff were helpful and the total came to under £6. The reason for four stars is the amount of skin left on the cod - it wasn't cooked enough to be crispy. My plan is to try again at some point to see if this is the standard.

Seafare catered 50 sausage and chips for my sons 6th birthday party. The communication via email to place the order was prompt, thorough and informative regarding all relevant allergy information. The food was delivered on time, well packaged and when served 15 minutes after delivery it was still piping hot! It was a seamless service and most importantly the kids (and adults) LOVED the food!!! Thanks Seafare for being the perfect party food provider.

I had read about this new revolutionary blend of Light Batter and Finest Crumb mix called FUSION...and Seafare St Johns have it to cook with...popped over there at lunchtime..ordered up my Fish and Chips.......and I have to say...It was the best Fish and Chips I have had for years....I'm not a great lover of the Batter you normally get with the Fish....and this was as they say light and almost non Battery..if that makes sense...highly recommend it .....The Chef was a guy named Jonny....I think he owns the seafare also...and is the only shop for miles that does this Batter,,,try it for yourself...10 out 10 for taste..

Well worth passing two other chip shops to visit Seafare. Always nice,batter properly cooked, can't stand it when batter is raw inside,not here.

Now I know this is a bit sad, but I noticed that in the 2017 National Fish & Chips Awards, out of the only 6 shortlisted in London and the South East, this was one of them and the only one in Surrey. I don't have fish and chips a lot but when I do, I want them to be good.I invited friends around on a Saturday night to have fish and chips. I pre-ordered and one of us collected them, passing 3 fish & chips shops on the way from near Old Woking and with quite a few others fairly close too. Everything was ready, which was great.We all enjoyed the fish and chips. We had both cod and haddock. The fish was really tasty, lovely batter, good chips. The plates were empty and we were well fed. It was certainly worth the journey.

For a recent skittles evening we placed a large order for fish and chips which was delivered to the venue.Excellent quality fish and chips delivered hot and on time and enjoyed by all.Excellent service and value for money, this is not the first time we have used seafare St. John's for this and we will definitely be using them again.

We have children who were very sad when diagnosed as coeliac because it meant no more fish and chips. But Seafare have saved us- gluten free Monday (first and second Monday in the month) is their favourite day!

My boys love the fish and chips from Seafare at St Johns/Knaphill. We enjoyed the free kids meal / free family meal vouchers that were given out when buying kiddies meal. Male staff friendly, although female attendant can be a little rude (as experienced by my other half).

Requiring a Gluten Free diet can prove quite restrictive and previously the local chippy was a no go zone. However, since Seafare first introduced 'Gluten Free Mondays' (the first & second of the month) we have become regular customers. Our food is cooked to order and kept completely separate from that containing Gluten. Fresh, hot, generous portions at a fair price with parking outside, what could be better. Staff are friendly & efficient. See you next week.

As I live near this restaurant, I have takeaway for fish & chips. Always, reasonable and tasty foods, they serve. It is a typical fish & chips British restaurant with tasty foods.

Having been established in the local area for years breeds reputation and Seafare ticks all those boxes.Price of the food is reasonable although I have observed that the cod size can be on the mean side on the numerous visits in the past.The fish and chip meal itself is tasty with fresh tasting fish and a great quality chip. Always get good customer service on visits and they will accommodate your order. My only gripe is, when you empty the portion on the plate the portion size might just about satisfy the appetite although if after an energy busting day, I would recommend the regular portion sizes may not suffice.

This is my first review however it was needed. I came in around 8 and ordered some food! What perfect fish and chips it was, chips were Devine. I got served by this young lady which I think is known as ' Hanna' what an asset to your team. She had a beaming smile, was very polite and did her all to give us the best! We just had straight cod and chips but they were beautifully cooked and not too greasy,good portion sizes as well. Lovely!

If you want cracking g fish n chips .... then this is the plaice!!!The fish is so fresh and the flakes are pure white, full of flavour coated in a perfect crisp batter. Tastes as good as a fresh caught Grimsby cod.The staff are polite and the queue on a Friday is typical for the end of the week ..... be patient as you may have a bit of waiting time, but it's well worth it. We've not found anywhere that can match it and again .... this is somewhere we would be prepared to drive a distance for as we have moved out of the area. But I'm prepared to spend the petrol money to get my fish n chips from here.Give it a try .... you'll not be disappointed.

Seafare delivered 70 fish & chip and 10 chicken & chip suppers to our Quiz evening at Bisley Village Hall. The food was excellent, delivered right on time and with knives, forks, napkins, salt & vinegar. In our experience, nothing is too much trouble for Johnny, Sam and their colleagues at Seafare - they are efficient, friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend them!

We used to use Seafare for our fish and chip meals. We're not huge takeaway users but as a treat (or a lazy night meal), we enjoyed the food here. However, in the past year the quality of the food has been very hit and miss, erring on more miss than hit I'm afraid. I used to like it as they did a great value family meal of fish & chips at a very good price. I suppose the old adage of 'you get what you pay for' came into play here.The last few times we used Seafare, the batter was very soggy in texture and the fish very watery. I presumed the fryers knew what they were doing so did eat it but had my doubts and my husband point blank refused to eat one meal as he said the fish couldn't possibly be cooked properly. We threw it out and put it down to a bit of bad luck that night. However, the final straw came when we had purchased a family meal, plus an extra adult one (all cod and chips) and got it home to find the fish tasted dreadful! It was only then that I noticed the smell too - definitely off! Stopped everyone eating immediately (fortunately hardly anything had been touched) and phoned them up, and we took the fish all back. We were given a refund. I don't know whether the 'bad' fish was investigated further but having seen a decline in this fish bar, we decided to take our custom elsewhere.

Fantastic meal waited about 5 minutes for haddock got it home hot crispy batter perfect fish, chip portion good size. Staff member very friendly greeted with a smile couldn't fault.

Their portions are small - particularly the fish! More like a goldfish rather than a cod!Chips arent brilliant and taste slightly undercooked.Dont bother going here - go to The Ketch half a mile away and experience a proper fish n chip shop!!!

A year ago we would have given Seafare an excellent rating. (Interesting that another reviewer has also commented that they used to be OK). It was a regular take away for us most weeks. However we had a number of recent occasions when the batter seemed very doughy. We persevered but the final straw came when we bought some fish which tasted - and smelt - awful. We immediately returned it. The guy smelt it and discarded it. No attempt to investigate further even though, had we eaten it, it may have made us ill. Very little attempt to apologise - no offer of a refund - all we were offered was a sausage to replace the fish!We haven't been back. Pity, it used to be our favourite fish and chip shop.

This is our regular Friday night treat. Would DEFINITELY recommend. The food is always fresh and really yummy. The staff are always polite and friendly. The best chippy in the area, by far.

This has become our regular fish and chip shop. The fish is always good and the helpings vary between acceptable and large. It's always hot when I get it home. There's always somewhere to park the car. It's now just a little on the expensive side but I guess you get what you pay for.

Couldn't fault this chip shop! Customer service is incredible, you feel welcome from the second you walk into the door and the wait is never long! The food tastes phenomial, cod tastes fresh and chips are cooked to perfection! Prices are reasonably priced.. And portion sizes are generous for an Individual! This is the first time we'd ordered from here and put simply it does what it says on the tin. Nice hot flavoursome chips, nicely battererd large cod and proper chip chop curry sauce. The staff were young, but friendly and seems like the place is run smoothly.

I tried this establishment some 8 years ago and used it once or twice back then and it was pretty good. But the 8 or so times I have tried it in 2013 and 2014 left me disappointed. First off, I always order large or 'jumbo' cod as I like a big fish. Well what I get in this establishment when I order a 'jumbo' cod is tichy compared to what I used to get up north in Yorkshire. Furthermore, I like my batter crispy, yet repeatedly I find the batter from this shop is soggy and tasteless. Even when I have asked for my fish to be fried cripsy or well done, it is not as crisp as I would like or what I got used to back in Yorkshire in places like Scarborough or Whitby, where the fish and chips are exceptional. Service is always pleasant and friendly - no complaints there, and the fish tastes relatively fresh, but good luck getting a truly decent sized fish or crispy, tasty batter.

I used to visit this chip shop regularly in the 90's until I moved, the portions used to be very good, large sized cod and plenty of chips, I started to use the shop again recently and have noticed that things have changed the price has gone up and the portions are a lot smaller, when we had cod and chips ( with saveloy ) last week, we were both surprised how small the fish was and how few chips we had on our plates when we got them out the bag.I used it again last week at the end of the night, ordering sausage and chips, once again the portion of chips was very small, the food tastes great the chips cod and sausages all as they should be, just not big enough portions for the money they are charging.

I called in here as I was nearby decorating my daughters house and got some fish and chips to take home.When I arrived home and opened the package the pieces of cod were the size of battered minnows and I was furious, I would have taken them straight back had it not been so far to drive.For over £12 I was expecting two decent cod and chips and would not have paid £2 for this rubbish and most definitely will not be buying from then again, absolute robbery so go elsewhere if you want decent fish and chips rather than be conned here.

Popped in for a quick meal this evening (21/3/2013) as I'd spent the day out in the cold and didn't fancy cooking! I had a fish cake, regular chips and a large sausage in batter - just under a Fiver all in, which I think is a fairly average price.Service was quick and friendly; the sausage looked a little cheapo on the inside, but tasted better than it looked! The fish cake was fine, as were the chips, although the chip portion was a bit small, but I wasn't too fussed because I didn't want much tonight.They take card payment, which is quite unusual for smaller shops I find (it is up in London!).I'd probably use this chippy again in the future - I'd rate them as 6.5/10.

My 5 year old son wanted fish and chips so we stopped off. £12.50 for 2 adult fish and chips and 2 kids meals, which were a good size. Plus a bottle of drink. Good food and excellent value. A little wait but this was because everything was freshly fried. Like James Bond; We will return.

We clearly got the leftovers!! 2000 on a Friday night, two adults, two children, not cheap. Not one of us could eat our meal, dry fish, old chips. Terrible. We will never return. Chinese Chip Shop in Knaphill is FANTASTIC.

For £2.20 the portion size for a 'Large' Chips is pathetic, the Cod was £3.80 for a SMALL piece and was just on the turn, ate the batter and left half the fish.Staff don't seem interested and the food shows this, award winning? No, Superfish in West Byfleet is much better, even our local chinese is marginally better.Going there again? No.

The food is nice, but is overpriced compared to other local chip shops. You are looking at nearly £26 for a family of 4, but others local chip shops server larger portions, and charge Round £18 for the same food.

This is our local chippy, you get what you pay for. Good fish which is not overly oily. The portions are getting smaller, but that may be due to smaller fish. We sometimes get kids fish and chips which is good value for money.

Overpriced and smaller portions than its local competitors. It has won awards (how, I don't know) and seems to use this as an excuse to charge comparatively high prices for what it serves.

Friendly, efficient staff. Good choice of fish (cod, haddock, rock, plaice, pollock, scampi) & nicely battered. Chips are very tasty too - fresh oil used, clearly. Been consistently good on every visit. I'd recommend.
