The Tea Terrace Restaurant & Tea Room - Woking in Woking

Went here for afternoon tea with my family and 7-year old granddaughter. We all loved it and my granddaughter in particular as there was so much pink! The food was excellent as was the service and my granddaughter loved the children's 'loaded hot chocolate'. I would definitely come back again.

This review should’ve been left ages ago! Beautiful setting , decor is stunning.. had afternoon tea with a friend in one of the Princess Carriages, no complaints, service was great as was the food and tea, sat in comfort and wasn’t rushed out. Will be back with my daughters soon.

Update: came on Wednesday and Thursday like 11am- 2 pm . It was closed , it would be easier if u wrote in google map if it. Was closed before we come 1- it says there is a take away here but when i went they said no take away 2- restaurant closes at 6 why do they stop serving 1 hr before? So funny tbh

We visited for a cup of tea and a slice of cake during a shopping trip in Woking. The tea and food was tasty and there were a range of vegan options. However, we asked to sit in the carriage and were advised there was an additional £12.95 charge per person for this! Crazy! Restaurant was practically empty when we visited, not much atmosphere, and it is quite pricey overall (£42 for 3 teas, an orange juice, 2 slices of cake and 2 scones). Nice to have visited but wouldn't rush back.

I was told no food was available due to the “lack of staff”. I was then ordering and told that the cake/brownie I wanted was also not available. I then ordered a luxury hot chocolate and some other bits. Then the lady came and told me that they didn’t have cream so would just give me marshmallows. The waitress was appearing grumpy and not interested. My scones came and were dry and crumbly. There was a large green moving spider on my plate which then the lady took away and blamed on the old building and “it must have fallen from the chandelier”. I said this was not acceptable. I then demanded the bill as I felt all strange having just almost consumed a spider. I was given the bill which had the scones (which had the spider on and she took the whole plate away) and also a luxury hot chocolate (which I did not receive) on. I queried this and she offered to take half the price of scones off which I said no to due to the food and hygiene concerns. She then provided poor attitude and took the scones off reluctantly. I then emailed the Woking branch and general branch as soon as I returned home and I have still not heard anything, even a week later.

Service took a very long time for both drinks and food although almost empty. Food all arrived separately, pie had been microwaved, supposedly gourmet chips were just fried. BBQ chicken came with no bbq flavour at all, jacket potato was solid. Very unprofessional behaviour from waiting staff

The staff were so rude and unhelpful. The food was such a low standard, would have been okay for a weatherspoons and at spoons prices but it is so expensive. Some of the food was edible but half of it was not and we tried to send it back but they made us pay. The staff behaved disgustingly and were so rude and unfriendly. Wish we went to spoons.

Tea Terrace is definitely a place to visit in Woking. My Daughters face was totally surprised when we walked into the entrance. The food was amazing I chose the Wagyu Beef Burger with Cheese which was really good and my Daughter had the Crispy Fried Chicken Breast Sandwich which she said was amazing, so would recommend those meals. We had a table of four for dinner before heading to the Theatre. This was a special occasion for my Daughters 13th Birthday. We will be returning soon in the future to try the Breakfast menu/Afternoon tea. The staff were very efficient which made the whole experience perfect.

Seen very quickly despite it being Saturday lunchtime, staff friendly. Wide range of food (and teas obviously) available and what we had was delicious.

Walked in wanting to grab a couple of coffees, waited at the "please wait here to be seated" sign, just to be ignored by 4 members of staff. Got fed up and walked out... therefore cannot comment on the food unfortunately..

The only reason I gave a 2 star is that the manager kindly refunded one of our meals! In all honesty it should have been both our meals though. The service wasn’t particularly fast, but the food was atrocious! I had the Welsh rarebit, which comes with chips and salad, the salad was the best part and the chips were warm not hot, as if they had been reused from another plate! My partner had jacket potato, which was obviously reheated, but the inside still appeared raw! The decor is interesting yes, but the lighting is awful and you feel like you are sat in fish bowl almost. I can see how you might get drawn in by the bright space, as we did! In all honesty I would just find somewhere else to eat. There is not anything great about this place apart from the fun decor, but that doesn’t make up for the awful food, slow service and ultimately disappointing dining experience. Just avoid!

We went there for brunch for my mum's birthday. We waited 30 minutes for our coffees to arrive and when they did, my breakfast arrived with it. 10 minutes later, the rest of the plates started to filter through (about 3 minutes apart). The waitress then forgot my son's pancakes and he reminded her not to include bacon as he's veggie. 5 minutes later (by which point we'd all finished!), along came a portion of pancakes covered in bacon! We asked if she could please take it away and provide pancakes without the bacon. She returned 1 minute later having removed the bacon from the panckaes, leaving bits of bacon and bacon grease all over the pancakes. She admitted she'd just scrapped the bacon off by which point I asked her to cancel the pancakes and asked for the bill. Not a nice experience at all. My son left hungry and we didn't really get to eat 'together'.

Such a wonderful experience for my daughter’s 10th birthday and her friends. Amazing and super friendly staff that went above and beyond to make my daughter feel special. Can’t wait to go again!!

This was my first time visiting Such a charming cafe, the staff were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful! We loved the China tea service, and the cheese scones were amazing! They were really good with both my disabled Mum, allowed her to park her mobility scooter inside... And my autistic daughter also was treated with patience and kindness. I will be back for sure!

A group of us visited this Tea Room last week. We loved the very pink princess Cinderella ambience, we loved the pretty china crockery, we loved the variety of different teas. We loved the food and we found the staff very friendly and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back for a return visit! It's good that we were able to choose to have just drinks, or eats as well. This wonderful venue is very different to anything else in Woking and deserves to thrive!

A great place to visit no matter your age, friendly staff and huge selection of yummy teas, vegans and gluten free options as well!

We booked this visit for my daughters 10th Birthday and took a few friends of hers. The kiddies loved every moment! Yummy food, cute setting and amazing staff that went out of their way to make my daughters birthday special, super friendly and would definitely visit again ! Highly recommended !

I am a Social Organiser for the local Oddfellows (our strapline being 'Making Friends and Helping People'). I decided to book for a group of our members living in and around Woking to meet up at The Tea Terrace in Woking for a cuppa and a chat. I had booked a table for 7 beforehand. To say that we will definitely be back probably says all that needs to be said! A warm welcome awaited us (including advice as to where to park mobility scooter). We were shown to our table, and from then on the service we received was second to none. Attentive but not intrusive. A lovely menu. We had decided to go in the afternoon, so we were choosing from the tea-time options, but you can have breakfast, brunch or lunch there. Whilst there are some pricey options, there was also plenty of choice for those not wanting to spend too much money, but still be able to enjoy this quirky fun environment. The cheese scones were excellent! I heartily recommend this venue - it deserves to thrive as it offers an environment very different to anything else in the area. Do give it a try!

Decor is beautiful, staff are OK but service is very slow.

On Sunday we visited the tea terrace in Woking to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, was her choice to visit there after previously walking past a few months ago. Seven of us attended, from the moment we arrived we loved the decor of the restaurant, enjoyed the Disney themed music and of course found the food to be amazing, my dad & husband claiming the steak to be the best they’ve ever had! Our only disappointment was we couldn’t have the ‘selfieccino’ which we had been looking forward too but hopefully we’ll get that on our next visit, I would say the cost of the food was along the lines of most restaurants these days so wasn’t shocked

Nice lunch dessert a little disappointing Bread and butter pudding looked like they'd microwaved it served in cupboard tray like you get from a supermarket. It was tasty tho. Music I.n back ground a little jazzy for my liking

Good choice of teas Sadly the worse dining experience with staff that seem to ignore you and don’t know the basics of how to take an order or serve even when it’s empty. Food was ok but bizarre. Ordered jacket potato and beans which came with a side salad. What we received was a tiny potato with tiny portion of beans and half a plate of chips..

OMG, this place is amazing, we found it by accident when shopping in Woking. The food was absolutely gorgeous and the cakes just melted in your mouth. I definitely had too much to eat but I couldn’t resist. They can even make you a hot chocolate or coffee with your own photo in the froth. The service was amazing and the waitress was so lovely. I highly recommend this place and will 100% be going back

Food is awful and massively over priced. Staff did their best. The restaurant was empty, always a bad sign. Kids enjoyed sitting in different chairs, but didn't really touch their food. I didn't even want to eat it. We had kids afternoon tea, and an adults afternoon tea. The sandwiches were stale and lack luster. Wish we'd just gone to a pub instead.

Fab breakfast. Shopping always starts with breakfast. In Woking for a change and saw this place was open and served breakfast. The decoration drew me in. I absolutely love it. From the teapot and cups chandeliers, to the floral Cinderella carriage booths, to the abundance of pink and tea themed items. The lady who served us was lovely, very polite and helpful. Our breakfasts were served promptly and everything was hot. Love love love. Will be back for afternoon tea for sure. Recommend it.

3.5 It was lovely to have lunch here. Food was ok. Alot of the afternoon tea food was not made on premise, brioche buns (supermarket quality), cupcakes were really nicely decorated, but those are clearly factory made, the icing looks pretty but taste disappointing (not alot of sugar went in there, no idea what's in there). You can see they are really trying to decorate the place in a lovely theme. Toilets are clean but untidy. Staff was friendly and probably their best asset there.

We visited for the first time and definitely won’t be returning, the service is very slow and exceptionally poor and disappointing, the staff are also very rude and clearly have no training, we were still eating our main meal when the waitress came over wanting to take a dessert order. The cutlery was dirty, the food was very dry, the toilets were dirty and not been cleaned. Due to the poor service we decided not to pay the optional service charge which we said at the time of paying, the manager decided to still take the service charge! Also at the time of paying we wasn’t asked how we were paying, the waitress just started tapping the amount on the card reader - we were paying cash. I definitely don’t recommend The Tea Terrace, I can’t even give a rating.

It was our first outing since both of us having covid. Puffed out after an hour looking around shops and then we saw the most magical looking room. Roller blinds mentioned Tea and Cake - perfect! We stood ready to get seated, the woman who served us was the most polite and happy person and gave us the feeling that nothing was too much trouble, we felt very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Mum and I did think it would be an amazing party venue for kids to have a tea party and dress up. 10/10

I came in wasn't expecting that much of the food but the place was really pretty for special occasions. I was totally impressed. The scones were light and fluffy with a crunchy outside. How do you make that? The sandwiches were fresh and nicely flavoured. Desserts was bite size and perfect taste. It's hard to find a place for proper afternoon tea experience these days. I'll definitely come back. And I'll bring every special guests here too

Booked online afternoon tea for 5 on a Friday afternoon. Arrived (with a friend who had travelled from Yorkshire) to find shutters down, lights off, closed! No notice, no sign, no emails. Still allowing bookings online. Appreciate (particularly with covid) that unfortunately sometimes things happen which would cause the store to close but not communicating that is an absolute failure. Avoid. Never been let down by the Cobham branch.

Excellent service such a beautiful place this is my second visit with one of my dearest friends for a surprise. My friend was in awe and highly recommend for all special occasions. The service is high quality and the scones are divine. Can’t not wait to visit again. The staff are amazing so kind and friendly. Thank you for a beautiful special afternoon.

My daughter booked for my granddaughters 4th Brithday as a treat, there was 8 of us. To say that service was terrible is an understatement. It took them 15 mins to take our order, firstly our drinks came out cold so they had to be sent back, then half an hour later, they started to bring out the food. My granddaughters food, did not arrive, after having to ask for it they brought out the wrong item, we sent it back another 15 mins later we had to ask again for her food, again they brought out a full adults breakfast, by this time we had had enough of the bad service, lack of understanding their menu. They was only 2 other tables occupied with 4 at each table, so they were not busy. When I went to pay and complain, nothing was said about how they ruined my granddaughters birthday treat. It is very expensive to eat here so I would have expected a high quality of service. Please do not eat in the Woking Branch, it is a waste of time and money

This is a lovely place the decor is wonderful it was like walking into fairytale tea room. It is bright pink floral and definitely different the staff were pleasant and the food very good for a light lunch we had quite a lot. I thought the decor was lovely the chandeliers were cups and saucers - there are Cinderella type carriages covered in decorative flowers where you can sit for your tea - very high backed chairs to make you feel regal - even the place mats on the table were pretty, floral and had different quotes on this was definitely worth a visit and the next time we are in Woking would definitely go again

Worst place ever. 20 min wait to place the order after asking to be served twice. 20 more min to bring a tea and a bottle of water, and one of the two cakes ordered. Unfortunately it was the wrong cake Tea brought with no milk or even a teaspoon. The place was 3/4 empty and the service was just rubbish. 3 more groups of customers were complaining that didn’t received what ordered, had been waiting for over 60 min for a cake. Also the small of plastic, gross, was just unbelievable. This place should be closed.

Lacks atmosphere, shocking prices and waitress service not that great. Hair in tea cup, no spoons and lemon drizzle cake VERY VERY dry. Avoid at all cost! Price ford tea for two people and two slices of cake £19.03-disgusting!!!!!

Great place for lunch and afternoon tea. There was 4 children and 1 adult. We had two afternoon teas and two childrens chicken and chips. I had the panini. All the food was great portion sizes and they tasted great. Staff were very welcoming and very attentive. Overall a great afternoon spent for my daughters birthday

I really enjoyed our experience at The Tea Terrace Restaurant & Tea Room in Woking. This is especially great for families with kids, as there is a fairy tale atmosphere like nowhere. My daughter enjoyed trying on tiaras, imagining herself as a princess. As an adult, I really appreciated a great variety of teas, like nowhere else, served in gorgeous cups. Absolutely recommend.

Had a wonderful time at the delightful Woking Tea Terrace Room having a nanny and grandma treat for Savannahs 4th birthday. Fab place and staff were great! A lovely treat for a 4 year old princess, thoroughly recommend it.

Dire. Very expensive for very little food, tea served in a cracked teapot ( the only customers so is every teapot cracked or chosen especially?) Little service too but 10% service added yet apparently being optional. HUGE disappointment for terminally ill friend's birthday 'treat'. You can't find anyone to complain to, no management, not even via Companies House.

I often meet with my friends here for lunch and high tea. The service is really friendly, food excellent and cakes delicious. child friendly too.

We had a lovely Afternoon Tea in a Cinderella Carriage. This was a Birthday Treat for My Great Nieces Birthday’s. The food and service was all excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time.

It was my 70th birthday celebration 23.04.2022....i had a lovely birthday get together... everything looked and tasted Very nice.... how ever I think the waitress was All new...I understand they weren't very sure of a few thing's...on the whole it was a lovely birthday celebration......

I ordered the simplest item a jacket potato with tuna.when it arrived it had a skin layer on top, i was mortified and my son meal was literally 8 chips and chicken tenders was so pale I was scared for him to eat it. So that was left on the side my meal came to £31 plus. Not worth it at all I mean can you really get a jacket potato wrong?

Waiting 30minutes for two meals when there was only one other table. At our first interaction we felt pressured to spend more money as they judged the initial decision and hurried us up even though we are only teenagers! The food wasn’t worth the wait...

Customer service was alright, food isn’t the greatest.

Terrible service. Waited 45 mins to be served, then they couldn't take our order, so waited again. Every single item was wrong. The non-dairy request was ignored. The strong coffee request was ignored. A second mug of coffee cost £4. They forgot the cups and to serve the tea after the food, as requested. Staff are inattentive until it comes to pay. Service charge included and was asked if I wanted my change 😆🤣.

A lovely place for a treat grandchildren loved the experience of having tea and cake served a traditional way with tea cups and saucers and dainty plates - so did the adults already looking forward to another visit and sampling afternoon tea with bubbles

I have no idea why since they do a ham sandwich on the kids menu. Not particularly accommodating. We were a large group and the food took ages to arrived and then trickled out one plate at a time. Some were finished before others had even been served. We had to chase three meals which were still being cooked whilst some of our plates had already been served. Toilets were not particularly clean and had no toilet roll available in any cubicle or in the accessible loo. This was pointed out to the staff midway through the meal and loo rolls were still not replaced 45mins later. It was only when I told the staff that one of our party had had to exit the restaurant to bring the children down to the toilets at the bottom of the shopping centre that they put one roll in each cubicle! Too little too late! No apology and total refusal to offer any sort of compensation for any of the delays. Really poor customer service - total shame as it looks so lovely and could be wonderful! Don’t waste your money or your time!

The menu was varied and catered for food allergies, our meal was delicious and well presented. The Tea Room was immaculate and a real pleasure to be in such lovely surroundings. My friend enjoyed every minute of being there and we will both look back on this experience fondly .

Wow! What can I say? The décor at The Tea on the Terrace is a little girl's dream (and a big girl's too!). This was a Birthday brunch and they even surprised the Birthday girl with a slice of cake and a candle in it + sang Happy Birthday! How lovely was that... The ambience in this café/restaurant is excellent. Everything from the little tea cups, flower wall back drops and quaint little table mats are a nice touch. If you like pink this is your thing! The addition of the fairy-tale carriages makes you think of Cinderella going to the ball. The staff are so friendly at this store (Woking) nothing was too much trouble for them. Service is very efficient and the food (brunch) we had was so delicious. The Tea on the Terrace serves breakfast lunch & dinner as well as tea, cocktails & other drinks. We will definitely be back for a return visit.

Lovely place, princess deco. Unfortunately the food is below average, quantity is not there, and everything is very overpriced. Disappointed afternoon tea. A rip-off. Coffee was not drinkable. Hot chocolate was mainly water and was served cold. Coffee and hot chocolate were mediocre. Scones are ridiculously small and not fresh. The desert selection was still frozen. The texture of the " mini brownie" was unpleasant, it was not a brownie. Cannot recommend and will not go there again.

I am very disappointed about the service the way how she treated us and the price are crazy for small bottle of water had to pay £5.80 . Is not worthy to visit at all , I will never visit that place anymore .

I visited The Tea Terrace Working on 30th March. The place is very pink and very cute. I noticed the two staff members made sure to wipe seats with products after the guests left and it was a proper clean too. My friend and I were looked after by Sabrina and Tia. They had a lot of patience as the menu is not small. They came back numerous times and always smiling and always engaging. We had a pleasant experience and again would love to say thank you to Sabrina and Tia for the hospitality they showed us.

We have booked a carriage for my daughter’s birthday and what a disappointment! The service was awful, got our orders wrong several times and they were not even busy, we were the only people there! Now I know why…. The kids food came out so hot they had to wait about 15 mins before they could start eating. They forgot the mains for one of our party. Got the drinks wrong twice and the bday girl was served a gone off apple juice! We have mentioned that we were unhappy with the whole experience but were not even asked why so that it could be improved. Complete lack of customer service. We have been to the one in Guildford before and it was smashing. Such a shame as it’s such a beautiful place and our local. Would definitely not recommend.

Had a lovely lunch here on Mother's day. We paid extra to sit in the lovely carriage. The staff were very attentive.

Lovely Mothers day lunch with my Mum and daughter. Staff were very attentive. We paid extra to sit in the beautiful carriage. The waitress took some lovely pictures of us in the carriage.

Our 2nd visit this time drag the whole Family for Mother’s Day treat. We was hoping to see the Asian Lady who serves us on our previous visit as she was just awesome. The chicken breast with mushrooms sauce must be top notch as everyone...

What a fantastic Mother's Day afternoon tea! We hired the Cinderella carriage , which is such a unique & fun idea; you can't visit here and not try it! The whole décor is fabulous; really glam and so well thought out; We definitely felt like Princesses for the afternoon. It was one of the best afternoon teas we've ever had; everything about it was perfect & so scrumptious, from the quaint crockery, to the variety of unusually flavoured scones and dainty cakes. My reasons for 4* is because we felt like the staff were over-attentive; we were checked on 6 times in an hour! Also, to have to pay to hire the carriage, plus to charge a minimum spend on food & then to add an automatic gratuity, we felt was a bit steep!! Overall though, we can certainly recommend a visit here.

Went with my mum and partner as a birthday treat and I was very disappointed. The afternoon tea was not very nice, the bread was stale and the fillings weren't very nice. We had the celebration tea and you are suppose to get 5 mini cakes each and we only had 4. I brought this up with the management because I expect 5 cakes for the price they are charging and the response I got was quite rude and dismissive, in the end they brought out the 5th cake but she slammed the plate down on the table. The scones dont taste fresh either they were very crumbley and it was impossible to put the jam and clotted cream on them. When it came to paying the bill they charged us for the service charge which they should of asked if we wanted to pay for that. Overall it wasn't worth the money. Very disappointed

I visited the Woking tea terrace on Saturday 12 March with my daughter. We had a fabulous time I had a panini and my daughter had afternoon tea. The panini was delicious and lovely with a large side salad and chips and my daughter enjoyed her afternoon tea. The tea terrace is a beautiful setting for a catch up and cosy time over food and coffee. I will definately visit again soon and would definately recommend the tea terrace to my friends.
