We went on 23.11.24 to celebrate my brother-in-laws birthday. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. Great choice’s on the fixed menu and the food was superb, we couldn’t manage the dessert but we made our selection and it was boxed for us to take out. The drinks options were fantastic, including Estrella on draught, and a great selection of wines. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend Sea Beats.

Food was ok. I had the boil. Shame it doesn't have any garlic inside the bag or old bay seasoning. This is what gives a seafood boil flavour. It was bland sadly. I think the value was good and inside the scallops were amazing. Muscles as other viewers have said sadly were not cleaned so gritty. Service good.

Such a shame we didn't have such a great time here tonight, booked for an anniversary meal, as before it was so good but unfortunately not this time !! Being sat next to the kitchen having to hear all the clatter from the kitchen wasn't ideal, the chefs radio was so loud they all seemed to be shouting above it, and having different music played in the actual restaurant did nothing for a relaxing atmosphere, added in was the toilet door being left open !!! The food really wasn't so good either, monkfish was not edible it was like having a mouthful of chewing gum that was just tasteless, the tomato sauce tepanade was so acidic it literally striped the skin off my tongue !!! Then we were insulted to be offered a reduction for the price of rhe inedible dish, no offer of putting it right, was just told kitchen will sort it and that was.!Don't think we will be rushing back that is for sure !!

Truthfully a real disappointment. Shack like appearance from street ugly but inside quite nice seaman's colours. Toilet next to kitchen not spotless. Friendly undertrained staff with no head waiter and no knowledge of the different wines. Both monkfish rubbery and overcooked. Muscles tiny and half the shells empty and sauce very thin milky. Perhaps the main chef had a day off but our party all felt underwelmed.

me and my friends visited here the other day and we had a lovely meal! i had the mussels to start and my friends had a crab pate, scallops and squid. good portion sizes especially the mussels for a starter. then me and my friend had the seafood boil to share which was cooked to perfection and a lot of food for ur money. other mains on the table were a bass fillet and cod with gnocchi. i tried some of my friends cod and it was cooked beautifully! service was brilliant and we was looked after really well. definitely worth the visit. lovely location and will be returning :)

Arrived at 6pm, were told they were booked up, but sitting available outside. There was sitting still available when we left inside. Squid starter over priced for quantity on plate, crab starter was okay. Ordered mussels as a main, portion size was very disappointing, I expected double to what was serviced & they were over cooked. Gnocchi was nothing special. Didn't bother saying anything, because we won't be returning.

Had lunch, food was just amazing, so well cooked, our waitress was lovely and attentive without being overpowering, just right. Only slight negative and it's not the restaurant's fault is that there were dog hairs on a big section of the long seat cushion I was sat on, obviously a customer thinks it's OK to sit their dog at a table where food is served, it's not. Thanks Adam and team, will definitely visit again.

Was really looking forward to visit here after reading all the good review. The food was alright. I order the mussels and my bf order the sea brem. Mine was over cook and tastless, but my bf one is nice. I book this place to celebrate my bf birthdya but no acknowledgement was given at all. I do not mind to pay for dessert except no one offer us the dessert menu when we finish our food. The waitress just ignore us,not checking with us if the food was ok. Not bothering to ask if we would like to order dessert. Amd we have to wait for our bill and no one bring it to us. At the end we just walk up and pay at the counter. Don't bother coming here is a waste of your money, what is the point of they do not value your business. There are plenty other restaurant here. Just go to the one who value your business and treat their customer right. This is not the way What a huge disappointment. Will not come back here ever gain.

Fish and shellfish was cooked well in general which was a saving grace, but dishes all lacked something. Sadly chowder was watery and had no taste or texture, no trace of creaminess. Fish and rice dish was again watery tomatoes and no concentration of flavour. Cod dish was tasty and well cooked but was just a square of fish and a few small potatoes and no other vegetables at all. Seemed unconcerned when we raised these points and offered no refund, would not visit again.

Had high hopes for this one and it's great there are seafood restaurants like this in the town. Cool decor. However, the meal really was mediocre. Linguine like something from Wetherspoons; overcooked and surely hadn't been made to order, bland, dingy, no discernible garlic, not a drizzle of nice olive oil - basically not as good as we usually knock up on a lunch break (and mussels are cheap in the UK), yet somehow £20. My fish was a nice big piece of fish, but only that: cooked but no seasoning, chips on the side, ketchup and mayo, but nothing like a cohesive dish. For these prices I think people deserve garlic potatoes and caprese and dressings to make it a proper meal. It seemed like the prawns/squid came from a frozen medley pack, despite being mixed in with something from the specials menu. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things.

Lovely little, tastefully decorated seafood restaurant across the road from the beautiful weymouth beach. Tables available inside and outside. Standard menu and a specials board to choose from. My scallop starter was so lovely I forgot to take a photo. Whoops. The triple flavour oysters were delicious. Our main courses were nicely presented. I ordered the plaice, samphire and prawns, my husband had cod and belly pork. He enjoyed his meal immensely. I didn't appreciate that plaice is a boney fish that requires some knowledge of what your doing to separate the bones from the fish. Not the restaurants fault. The restaurant manager did advise me on how to finish debonening my plaice before I admitted defeat lol.

Mixed fish Chowder and salt & pepper squid starters were delicious. As was my seafood linguini of the day with masses of prawns and sweet tender clams. Disappointing. Went here because of the good reviews on Google and recommendations by our hotel, unfortunately we ended up very disappointed. Firstly it was quite a busy night and we were seated outside, which would've been fine except there was not enough space for the table and benches, so the table legs were touching the bench, meaning we had to climb into our seats. We tried to move the table out but were told we were not allowed to as there needed to be space on the other side (where there was an empty table which stayed empty for our entire meal). I wonder what they would've done if we had been old or otherwise unable to climb into the seats. Anyway, so for starters we ordered scallops and then garlic prawns from the specials menu. Scallops were tasty but quite a small portion. Prawns came in the shell (didn't say on the menu and staff didn't tell us) which is fine except they didn't get us anything to clean our hands (so I had to climb out of the table to go to the washroom). The prawn portion was generous although they were slightly overcooked and there was not enough sauce (only came with the garlic butter stuck to the shells) so I was left eating dry prawns and dry bread. For mains one dish was a curious combination of bass (I think) and pork, which was fine but the root vegetables tasted funny and the portion was small. The other main was a hake fillet with pesto and potatoes and also tasted fine but again a very small portion. Overall we felt very underwhelmed and although everything was okay, we were not blown away like we expected based on the reviews. Maybe we were unlucky with what we ordered and missed out on their specialties. I think we would've been okay with the meal in general except for the price. We paid almost £80 for two starters, two mains, and one beer... With the mediocre quality and small portions we felt completely scammed. At least the staff were friendly.

We went here for a dinner on our last day in beautiful Weymouth- what a good choice! You can tell a lot of care and thought went into the menu and specials and all seafood was cooked to perfection, which is arguably the most delicate and difficult protein to master, does show chefs' skills off. Service was seamless and easy going, perfect combination with amazing food. Just a little warning - eating here might ruin certain foods for you, for me it was mussels in chowder - i have never had a mussel that tasted almost like an oyster, maybe it was first time i had an actually fresh mussel, i don't know. All I know is I will never be able to enjoy mussels back home. Will have to go back now, for mussels 😅 thank you for an outstanding meal, guys, best of luck and hopefully we get to visit you next season!

Wow what a find!! Ate here twice in 3 days because the food a d service was so good. The menu is just simply a fish and seafood paradise. We could have gone another 2 x in the same week to try other dishes that we couldn't try in the time we had!!!! So top of the shops for us was the mussels, crevettes, meagre (lovely sole like fish), hake paella, chowder, hake with pesto and cod and pork belly. All so delicious we didn't want them to end even though we were full! We want to give a big shout out too on service. Am sorry we didn't get her name but the young woman who went to Bath University was a star. She was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I left feeling hungry and ripped off. I'd heard good things about this restaurant, both from friends and Facebook groups, so I was looking forward to trying their food as a local. The 'specials' menu looked interesting, and I ordered the whole baked monkfish in a wild garlic, mushroom and chicken butter sauce, served with hasselback potatoes at £25.50. My friend went for the baked whole lemon sole, prawns, samphire, chips and salad at £23.95. I also ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio at £22, and we chatted until the food arrived. When I saw the lemon sole arrive I was impressed, there was so much! But, when my food came I honestly thought they'd given me someone else's starter by mistake. My friend said "If I was served that, I'd be fuming" so I called the manager over. I said I was expecting more, especially as it was described as a "whole baked monkfish". I was given what looked like a quarter of a fillet, and the manager instantly apologised, saying it was his mistake stating it was a whole monkfish on the menu, and even said "people would expect much more meat". He mentioned it was described as "whole" because it may have bones in it, which was odd. He offered some salad or chips which I declined, to be honest I'd rather have the rest of the fillet, basically I wanted what I'd ordered. I was hoping he'd do something when the bill came, but I'll get to that later. So, I finished my "meal" in around ten minutes, the hasselback potatoes were very small and overcooked as you can see by the photo. The staff walked up and down, and could see I'd finished so soon, but luckily my friend's meal was plentiful and she gave me two of her prawns, some samphire, chunks of the lemon sole and loads of chips. We finished the wine and I asked for the bill which was promptly brought over. The manager apologised again, and I told him I was still hungry.. Looking at the bill, I noticed he'd taken a paltry 50p off my meal, and charged me £70 instead of £70.95. So, for a mistake made by the manager (which he admitted), the figure had been reduced by an incredibly insulting £1.45. The manager had plenty of time to come up with something realistic so I wouldn't feel so annoyed, but he didn't, and if anything made things worse with the £1.45 discount. If he'd sorted something out, I wouldn't have written this review, or told all the customers where I work about my experience, all of whom were shocked by what I was served, and the way it was handled. Before I posted this review, I messaged Sea Beats via Facebook messenger explaining the situation, I gave it over two hours but didn't get a response. Update: This review was originally posted on 28th April, but wasn't published by Google publicly due to photographs of the bill and menu which I've since removed. The owner has now decided to lie, as the monkfish was not a normal fillet, and wasn't on the bone as you can clearly see by the photo. Regarding Facebook, I received a huge amount of support in the two groups where it was posted. Here's some of the comments: "That is shocking !!! Certainly looks like a starter & not a main as advertised", "Is that a main? Wow thats awful", "Totally agree with you. Thats shocking", "To be fair i would be p...ed too" !!" "That is poor for a meal... looks like a kids portion!", "Will avoid, thank you for your feedback", "bribing with refund only if review is removed is very bad form", "Oh my goodness - this is definitely a place to avoid!" "Absolute rip off that would be going straight back for me for £25", "I'd of sent it back for that price absolute rip off" and "seabeats is at fault not the customer getting a p..s poor meal at that price". I was NOT offered a full refund, that's another lie, luckily I posted a screenshot on Facebook saying "Are you willing to remove your tripadvisor if you get £25 as it's on Google and Facebook which I think shows enough people you were not happy." - An incredibly shady way of doing things.

Brilliant restaurant, great food, great staff and inventive chefs. Our favourite place to eat in Dorset, been 25+ times and it never fails to be a fantastic experience.

Absolutely amazing food and service. I had the crab pate to start and special prawn and scallop linguine for main, both were delicious. Restaurant were very accommodating of our two boys (4 and 7) in bringing their mains out with our starters etc. Restaurant was lovely and cosy on a windy and wet Tuesday. Thoroughly recommend.

Fish tacos were outstanding. Lots of fresh fish options according to their availability on the day. Although fully booked indoors, I was accommodated outside on a fine September evening.

We love this place but unfortunately this time the crab starter was disappointing, very small and the monkfish main was also not good value, monkfsh was rubbery and mainly bone. Service was excellent as always but feel a little bitter sweet as this was the best fish restaurant and although expensive was worth it but avoid these 2 dishes

Truly excellent fish and chips, some of the best I've ever had. Unfortunately restaurant was closed due to staff shortages, and there was a long queue for takeaways. But worth the wait.

What a lovely lunch we had today. The food was fantastic ( thank you to the chefs ) and the service was great. Just the right amount of time between courses and all served with a smile. The food here is lovingly created, cooked and served and you can taste the time and effort . Brilliant 😊
