The staff were lovely cannot fault them, but when it comes to the food I had high hopes form the other reviews, sadly we didn’t have the same experience, the batter sausage was soggy and missing some batter and was very greasy, the saveloy was not very nice and chips very greasy and very oily and not very thick so were like crisps some also were quite stale and look like scraps. We won’t be returning don’t recommend

Used to be terrible, now is great. Highly recommended! We go about once a month and are always very happy with what we get - the chips are much better than most of the other fish n chip places around, crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside and not too greasy :)

We last visited when the old owner was here and it was terrible, however, I am very happy to report that the food is now amazing! Freshly cooked non-greasy and non-soggy chips, the fish was lovely, flakey and not greasy, with nice crispy batter too. Staff were friendly and even though it was very busy the food was ready really quickly.

This fish and chip shop offers some excellent value weekday lunchtime specials. Freshly cooked hot and tasty not too greasy it well.presented and boxed up.and includes a plastic knife and fork. The service was warm and friendly. We will definitely be taking advantage of this lunchtime offer again . We consumed our food on a bench on Ripley Common. Great

Fish and chips cooked to order, piping hot and very tasty. Chips crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, fish not too greasy with a crisp batter. Quick and efficient service.

A lovely local chippy. The cod and chips I ordered were freshly cooked to order with a short 10 minute wait. The chips were crisp on the outside and lovely and fluffy in the middle. The cod batter was crispy and not overly greasy, the fish itself was tender, flaky and perfectly cooked. The salt and vinegar added was the perfect amount. Friendly staff too. All round some of the best fish and chips we’ve had. Will definitely return!

The food is really poor! The chips are mainly hard and not fresh.. as my son quoted 'its like eating abit of cardboard' the cheese burger is rubbery and the mozzarella sticks was disgraceful as a couple had no mozzarella inside. Will not be returning to this chip shop the food is disgraceful

Had chips and partner had chicken nuggets and chips. Chips were nit anything special. The chicken was very dry. Your prices may be good but our food wasn't. The staff behind the counter were not very proffesionable either. They were smirking and laughing all the time.

Had senior fish and chips and fish cake and chips, so scrummy. The staff were so friendly and professional, thank you.

I ordered by phone and was told 10 minutes. I arrived on time and was told a few minutes to go by some sulky front of house guy. Almost 20 minutes later i was given fish and large chips crammed in a single box. Getting home the chips were poor - some old, some OK and some needed extra frying. It was used to be a good place especially with the front of house lady but now it's very hit or miss.

The calamari was over cooked and chewy, not edable. The cod too greasy. There is plenty of room for improvement. We'll be on the safe side. We'll not return back.

Since the new owners have taken over the takeaway the quality of food has disappointingly nosedived! The Cod, once meaty in texture and chunky was thin and cheap and the batter it was served in resembled the same texture and taste as that of sweet and sour chicken balls, very off putting. The chips are no longer the long, chunky and flavoursome standard they once were, but small off cuts and bland. The staff were pleasant enough. I was a bit surprised arriving as there was only one person waiting outside for their order, whereas usually there are a minimum of five waiting for orders being cooked and it was only 6.30pm - I wonder if the previous customers have left in their droves as they too have found the same drop in standards. Very sad to see a once thriving and successful business lose its way and put profits before standards and reputation. I hope the new owners are able to take on board their customers feedback and make the changes to bring this business back to the once excellent Fish & Chip shop it once was.

Very friendly staff and got our order quickly, big portions and the chips were very good. Unfortunately the battered sausage was pink in the middle and the batter was very hard and tasted like cardboard. I would suggest you stay clear of the meat but get the chips if visiting.

Not sure what has happened to the business but recently the standard has been very poor, after last night's experience we will not be going back! The fish was SO greasy, the batter was soggy and full of grease, fish had no flavour either and chips were dry too.

Recently changed hands - the oil is not as clean as it used to be. Fish was dry however the mushy peas were great

This chip shop recently changed ownership it used to be very good.Tried it twice since it has been under new management there will not be a third time. Cold and greasy chips, Fish was all batter very little fish also very greasy. Such a shame.

Yesterday I saw four adults and one child inside the shop. Not one adult was wearing a mask. There was not enough room for all these people to socially distance. Two men came out together, a man on his own and then the lady with the child. So definitely 3 different parties possibly four. Not good enough!!!!

This is a nice family-run chippie where the fish is nice and the service charming. And the pensioner’s fish and chips is a bargain.However, they manage to serve the worst chips I’ve ever had from a fish and chip shop – and this is the same every time, of which there has been more than a few.On each visit my though is ‘it has to be better this time’. And it never is. The chicken nuggets are also as uneatable as the chips. So be warned.If there was an alternative nearby I’m sure they would have gone out of business long ago.

Ordered a mixed doner kebab/sausages and chips for the family as was passing on the way home... the kebab had NO salad what so ever & the meat slightly under par/wet. Chips were quite soggy but the sausages were perfect.. not the best of experiences so will be going elsewhere. Not the cheapest either.. hopefully it’ll improve as wasn’t even that busy!!! I’ve only left this review as I’m rather displaying Ed as looks a clean/inviting shop!What a Shame.

Spent £34.48 on food which £14.48 was reasonable. I will never go there again. Apparently “three children’s chicken nuggets meals” is not clear enough to the server that I wanted three kids meals. Would not recommend it and server unwilling or unable to see the error of her ways. Overcharged by £10 and will never visit again.

Very good with Social distancing rules during the Coronavirus. Staff are nice and polite. We had two of the lunchtime £3.50 fish and chips special. The great fish was worth the money alone but what spoilt it for us was the chips which were not freshly cooked and we ended up not eating many of them. It was a pity as everything else was top notch including them being packed in individual boxes. If the chips had been half decent we would have rated this establishment highly but the chips are an important of the meal. Maybe we just caught it on a bad day or they had cooked too many chips at a time in anticipation of more trade.

Visited for a lunchtime takeaway. Very pleasant service. The fish was wonderful and could not be faulted. The chips were another story, absolutely awful the worst we have had for many a year. They tasted if they had been cooked at least 30 minutes previously very tired and nearly inedible. They need to cook smaller quantity of chips more often to make sure they come close to the standard of the fish. Because of the chips we are not sure we would return here.

We hunted around for an open fish and chip shop- not easy to find at the moment. Sea Salt are open; maintaining excellent social distancing protocol. The fish and chips were excellent. We will be back.

Wonderful team running a quality fish and chip restaurant in Ripley. Always good natured service and we've been using this shop for years so we know what we're talking about!!

Had fish and chips here on way through to guildford and so glad we stoped here, the fish was freshly cooked and was perfect!! No skin no grease just full of perfectly cooked fish and a lovely light n crispy batter. 10 out 10Thank you highly recomend,

This really is a proper chippy with lots of choice great service awesome portions fresh cooked chips I had the chicken fillet sandwich with chips for less than a fiver fantastic value

Pleasant fish and chips. Good size portion especially for the price. Freshly cooked fish. Didn’t seem like cod; was more meaty and less white, but perfectly edible.

Called here whilst stopping at Horsley Camping and Caravanning Club site. Nice staff and fast service. Portions ok no quite as large as expected especially on the chips. Fish was nice however. Served in a box. Ordered large peas seemed to just get a small tub but had left before realised.

This is by far the best fish and chip shop in the area. The staff are always welcoming with smiles and the food is freshly fried as you wait. The portions are generous, the batter is crisp and no soggy chips. Wonderful!

I can thoroughly recommend this place for excellent fish and chips at good value for money with a bonus of very friendly service!The owners are originally from Madeira,which is a wonderful place for fish, and therefore know something about handling it!I will be gong again soon to buy more for the family.

I decided to try somewhere new tonight and was a little bit disappointed after reading some very good reviews on TripAdvisor. The staff were friendly enough but the takeaway box was seeping with grease by the time I got home. The cod and chips were ok and reasonably priced. The curry sauce was very watery and not enjoyable. It was an ok dinner but not somewhere I would rush to go back too.

The cod is cooked to perfection - service always with a smile. Very busy at times, so better to call in advance with your order.

This is an amazing Fish and Chip shop, they give large portions and the family who run it are lovely. The food is always excellent and good value for money.

Being someone who works in Ripley, its nice to have somewhere different to get lunch other than just the local shops. Also an added bonus that in comparison to the rest of Ripley, it has good pricing. Lunchtime deals all the way!

Large portions of lovely freshly cooked fish and chips. Very good value and nice, friendly service. Parking can be a bit tricky but usually find somewhere.

Well thank Cod this shop was opened in Ripley!. Apparently some of the peasantry who run the village don’t like it,well tuff meat pie to you sir. I and lady Banker along with the Baron Von rumpus pumpy of Ripley,lord Ripley and several Rock stars love it. Great value and super fast service. I would Trot down on the Horse to collect but the peasantry have banned Horses from Ripley. Rpc shame on you,Tally ho.

Very nice, would buy from here again. Not too greasy, nice portions, not too long a wait. Price was very reasonable and the staff were very polite. I had the cod and chips with curry sauce which was all perfectly cooked in my opinion. Batter was crispy but not burnt and the fish was really nice!

This is the best fish and chips that you can get. We live in Byfleet and even getting the fish and chips in Ripley, the batter on the fish was still crispy by the time we got home. The quality is excellent and the cod and haddock was huge. Well done Sea Salt!!!!

Not wanting to cook after much strenuous gardening decided to have F.& C..This is one of the best fish and chip shops in the area. Fresh well cooked fish and good crispy chips.

We go here every Saturday , it is the best fish and chips I have had in years ...staff are a lovely family and it never disappoints .They also do kebabs but I have never tried those .Fish is top quality and they do childrens portions which are just as lovely quality and saves the hastle of buying adult portions for kids and dividing them up

I have been wanting to go to the Sea Salt Fish and Chips shop for ages. We decided to go last night and it was the best decision for a Saturday night take away. The Cod was huge, fresh and delicious. The chicken wraps were big and delicious. They have so much to offer. Will be going back that's for sure!

Service was a little slow but this was during Ripley Christmas Fair. Excellent quality and not dripping in fat :-)

I say new but of coirse it's been more than a year since the fish shop appeared. We've lived here five years and from day one opined that the only thing the village needed was a F&C; shop. The nearest is nice but just too far away. When Salt opened the queues were ridiculous and that has settled. They have already had a refit and the speed of service is considerably better.

Excellent value for money especially the seniors cod and chips at £3.50 can't see that being beat anywhere. Also quality is first class , very friendly family run business thoroughly recommend this establishment

Hadn't been to Sea Salt for a while and wont be going there again. Whilst the portions are large, the fish batter was very heavy & stodgy,, not at all crisp, and the fish inside was tasteless. The chips were plentiful BUT again very soft with no "just fried" crispness at all.

Every week we come to sea salt, the staff are always polite and remember your face, they always go out of their way to thank you for your custom and the food is amazing, fish always nice and crispy and the chips are to die for. Thank you for such an amazing fish shop.

I have had a takeaway from here several times in the last couple of months, and I can say that not only is the choice excellent - with so much on the menu you're not sure which way to go, but its also tasty and big portions.

We get dinner here a lot. The food is cook freshly as you walk in and order. Great fish in large sizes. A good choice of food. And fantastic chips

This was the old Post Office and started out as a café and chip shop. It struggled to cope in the beginning with the demand. It has now changed to just a shop serving takeaway but added Kebabs. Only fault for me is them serving in boxes which fail to keep the goods probably warm, switch to paper guys.

Visiting Wisley and after a ver long day, this hit the spot. We were in Malliag in Scotland last weekend, everyone raved about the fish and chips before we went. This was far superior to Mallaigs, this was thick, tasty and excellent crispy batter.

The quality of the chips is pretty poor, the sausage i had tasted nasty.

Seeing my college with this fantastic box tray and then she opened it i could see a wonderful sight to my eyes the golden battered fish and light golden chip shop chips. Not having fish and chips for a while i jumped in the car for a short drive to acquire my own. Made to order this place was clean and the staff at the counter left me feeling they knew what they were doing. Menu to take away right there in my site grabbed one an popped it into my pocket. I was told i could phone and pre order this was great for lunch making the service quicker. as to the food spot on nice piece of cod fresh and tasty and chips value for money portion red hot and all well cooked.
