I love the pool. It's beautiful to swim in. Especially in the summer with the sun beating down. It really gives you a great lift. Wish I could love the changing facilities equally. This place isn't cheap and they could do alot better with cleaning them regularly. It smells and there is always hair, rubbish and excess water in all areas. I would expect more for the price.

Best swimming pool in Brighton by far. They enforce wearing a cap and everyone adheres by the rule! Extremely clean throughout, water not too cold nor hot on a sunny day (although I wouldn’t swim on a chilly day there as it would be too cold for me). Nice and friendly people swimming there! Only complaint would be the expensive price for a one hour swim 😬 £11 is a bit steep

If you love a lido you’ll definitely appreciate the new Sea Lanes on Brighton waterfront. Visited here whilst walking the England Coast Path but sadly did not experience a swim. Not very busy at the time and was fantastic weather too. Staff, Sally was very helpful introducing me to this superb amenity and what was on offer. Slow, medium and fast lane swimming by the hour, which is best to book. Also, showers available for sea swimming too. Cafe next door overlooking the pool and out over the sea. Everything is catered for a great Brighton experience and it’s affordable too. Wheelchair access via ramps to the reception area and assisted access facilities into the pool.

I wanted so much to like this place. The concept and setting are on point. Swimming with views of the sea feels pretty special. But the place is let down by poor execution. It feels a bit like a temporary facility for one of those summer pop-up efforts. The pool is made from paddling pool material, and is dirty. I was there first thing in the morning, and counted half a dozen plasters in the pool that must have fallen off people and not been cleaned away since the previous day. The changing facilities also leave much to be desired - cheap fixtures and fittings, horrid harsh lighting, heating vents already fringed with dust, just two hairdryers crammed together in a tiny corner with two mirrors so close together you’d be bashing into the person next to you if you were both trying to do your makeup at the same time. If this was a municipal facility with prices to match it might all be more understandable, but at eleven quid for a swim I expected more.. And frustrating because it could have been so much better with just a bit more investment and - more importantly - thought. Decent lighting, loo seats and coat hooks don’t cost much in the scheme of things. If this place aspires to be taken seriously as the national centre for open water swimming it really needs to up its game.

Visited at the weekend - pool is fantastic, nice and clean and very lightly chlorinated, which makes it very pleasant to swim in. A swimmers pool, all lane swimming. The pool was 18.5c which was plenty cold enough for me. I wore a rashie which did the trick, after two lengths the water was lovely. I’m bald but they still want you to wear a cap, they were kind enough to give me one at the door. Being your own padlock. The lanes are not very wide but wide enough to have no issues at all. If I lived closer I’d be here all the time! 10/10 would recommend.

The experience of swimming on the beach, watching the sea roll in, with Volks Electric Railway running by and the pier in the background cannot be beaten for swimming views! Full marks for this. However, as others have noted, the South Downs app is a faff (good for swiping in at the centre, abysmal to register with and almost put us off booking), the lanes are slightly too narrow for a comfortable clockwise experience (especially doing breaststroke), the pool is 19° which is fine if you bring swim socks/gloves etc, you MUST wear a hat, provide a padlock for the lockers, and remove your shoes as soon as you enter the changing rooms (which means using the unisex toilets barefoot...eww). All of the above means that Sea Lanes really isn't going to be accessible to the casual swimmer visiting Brighton. Maybe that's the intention? Nevertheless, despite all of the above, the swim itself is well worth it!

The Sea Lanes and surrounding event spaces and restaurants is such a great addition to the previously underused space on Madeira Drive. Admission is £11 for an hours swim, and the pool itself is modern, with different swimming speed lanes, and nice facilities making good use of recycled materials. It is a heated pool, with the temperature around 19-20°C 🌡️ in the winter months - which can be chilly but is totally fine after a couple of lengths. It's worth noting that you are required to have a swimming cap, but if you don't have one, can purchase a nice branded one for £5. Small combination padlocks are also needed for lockers 🔐 A great pool in a nice location and has nice food options to top up on 'fuel' afterwards 🍽️

I’ve visited twice - I’m a couple of hours away otherwise I’d be here all the time. Beautiful pool with lovely views, 19 degrees on both occasions I’ve visited which is warmer than I’m used to. Very clean surrounds and changing areas and staff are welcoming but unobtrusive. A few tips: Bring your own padlock and key for the lockers, or there are small wire cages outside in sight of the pool for small items. The changing areas are unisex with lockable individual cubicles. Very clean. Shoes should be removed at the door. All pool users must wear swim caps. I booked on the first occasion but not the second - was welcomed both times and there was plenty of room to swim. The pool is divided into several lanes (slow/medium/fast) according to swim speed. There are warm showers in the changing rooms and both warm and cold showers poolside. I asked the lifeguard if it was ok to take photographs. It is. As always I blur photos of other pool users outside my own family. There is a cafe next to the pool but unfortunately I didn’t have the time to try it.

Such a lovely pool! The showers, toilets and changing rooms were so clean and had loads of space, felt much bigger than the local leisure centres. Only issue was parking, as is always the case in Brighton. I went on Friday at 6pm and there are lots of spaces on Madeira Drive, which is right outside the pool, but they were all full, so you have to be lucky to get a space really. If you get anxious about parking/travelling I would recommend leaving at least 20 mins for parking time. We had to drive up and round the road a few times to get a space (appreciate it was peak time!), and when we did find a space, it was £4.50 for an hour.

I’ve been going to the sea lanes pool since late june and so far I like it. For a one off swim it is a little pricey but the membership is really reasonable at £50 a month and I can go as much as I want. It also stays open pretty late the last slot being usually 8ish. It’s so glorious when the sun is setting in the evening and I tend to get a lane to myself. The pool is quite cold for a heated pool especially if it’s not nice weather which is a shame as it’s not going to be the nicest in the winter and I don’t really want to have to get in an out of a wetsuit every evening :( The changing rooms were a little unkept to start with but for a new pool things aren’t going to be perfect straight away and I’ve found more recently it’s been well cleaned and maintained. I do wish that it had a swimming costume spin dryer in there as I go most evenings my costume would dry off easier and wouldn’t make my bag all wet and would prolong me having to get another costume as soon- the joys of swimming lol. The showers are nice and warm and plenty of lockers on the pool side and in changing room. It would be great if they sold bottles of water too as sometimes I forget my bottle and I don’t really want to get in an out to use the water fountain especially if it’s a windy cold day. The sign up for the membership was a little faffy but once your signed up to the app and membership it’s really easy to book even at short notice. You can see how busy it is too which is great. Overall I really do enjoy this pool and it’s a lot nicer than others in Brighton - it just needs to be a bit warmer and then it would be almost perfect all year round. :)

I really wanted to love this pool, but just didn't enjoy it at all. - The process to sign up for the app was arduous and asking way too many questions. There was no option to just buy at the counter as far as I know. - The pool was uncomfortably COLD. It would have been good to be warned of this upon booking. I could only swim a few laps and had to leave early. I assumed it would be heated as is the default for most public pools - It is over-priced at £11 for a casual swim - the lanes are narrow - the alternating direction thing in each lane seems really stupid (I'm from Australia and I know it's common in the UK ..but still..why?) - you need a padlock to lock the lockers. If they are going to charge a premium price, at lease have automatic PIN or key lockers and not create an extra nuisance (and environmental wastage) for every customer to have to go and buy a padlock that suits your lockers. - the changerooms are very drab grey - the reception vibe feels a bit corporatey

I'm so disapointed in this pool.. No thought has gone into disabled /slow swimmers.. For a start, there is no disabled concession, which is shocking. No seat to sit on when I get out of the pool. But the worst thing was the slow lane is too narrow to do breast stroke.. There were only 5 people in the lane but it was impossible to swim breast stroke without bumping into people.. I had to swim with one arm under the rope and it was so uncomfortable, .. I'm sure they re wide enough for front crawl but not breast stroke, The slow lane should be double size as breast stroke needs a wider lane, I'm gutted as I was so looking forward to going. . It is not financially or logistically geared up for slower swimmers with a disability, .. It does have as disabled changing room, but it looked like an NHS hospital changing room, which is horrible,,. they could haver made it a tad less clinical. .. Most disabled people on disability benefits cannot afford £11 per hour, The receptionist was very unfriendly which was shocking, The setting was beautiful though, and I like how the fence is clear so the sea is visible,

I swim there 3 times a week since it opened, and when it’s peak summer heat (water around 25degC) it’s lovely. But when it’s at its target temp of 19deg, it’s just too cold and I’m going to resign my membership after the summer. Swimming when it’s that cold without a wetsuit is no fun, and who wants to get in and out of a wetsuit 3 times a week all year round. If it was 24deg like London Fields and other lidos, it would be perfect.

Perfect for open water swimming training. Also easy to combine with a sea swim too with easy access and storage. People complaining about the lower than normal temperatures for a pool are missing the point that it's an open water training centre. If the pool temperature was too high it wouldn't be appropriate for open water training as it can take months for the body to adjust to lower temperatures. Open water swimming is cold and often difficult, so the training centre should be too. I love that the wind hits the surface of the pool and makes waves! The 50m pool length is fantastic too as you can build up long distance in training without really thinking about it. If you want warm pools, inflatables and slides then head somewhere else - this is an open water training centre and very good at that. Staff are friendly and helpful too.

Booked the sea lanes today. Was the worse swimming experience, there were people working on the side of the pool with loud machinery and no protection close to paying customers . They use a booking sistem that should make for a balanced amount of people but they are running the pool with about 4 people on average per lane , absolutely uncomfortable. There is absolutely no point to this swimming pool , don’t waste your time , the sea is better and probably cleaner to be honest .

I love this place! A real boost for Brighton. The pool is fantastic and the membership is great value for money. After a few teething problems (which is expected), things are near perfect. Plus, there is ample space to swim as fast or as leisurely as you wish.

First swim in Sealanes today (9.20am) and overall a very pleasant experience. Not too busy (3 or 4 in each medium lane). Changing room, lockers and toilets all very clean. Staff very attentive and friendly. Only 4 stars because there is a fair amount of filth at the bottom at each end - I heard the filter pump is faulty at the moment. I'll be back regularly!

Dirty changing rooms and over priced. Water was too cold and supervision over what’s classed as fast or medium swim is non existent. I went for training and nothing worse than slow Brest stroke swimmers in a fast lane. Slow seniors who just came for a chit chat should go for a coffee morning instead. I’ll stick to my old pool instead.

£11 / hr hour is extortion. Parliament hill lido is £7.5 for a 3 hour session. Who do they think they are

Attended as a Birthday treat for a sunrise swim on Sunday the 11th. Reception was a lot to be desired as very poor welcome from two staff who does not give eye contact, speak to the computer rather than you. Already disappointed by then!!! The smell hits you as entering the cubicle area. However the Pool was Devine. Long queue of 15 mins to have a shower as only 3 inside. Concept of the built, view stunning. It was great to swim there but We had equal delight to sea swim. Would not be rushing back soon. Such a shame of something that could have been and should be a delight, as there is so much soul in that project🧜🏽‍♀️👎🏼🫣

I was really happy with my swim tonight, thought the facilities were good and the temp was great. There is alot of standing water in the changing rooms and around the pool that hopefully they will address at some point (remember your flip flops and your sun cream!!) The only drawback is the SDL app is so incredibly difficult to use - not user friendly at all. Almost gave up on my booking! Hope they improve the app or get their own.

I visited the pool on Friday 2nd June at 19:00 after booking online. Firstly, the booking experience was difficult as the app was not working but the South Downs Leisure website didn't have the pool as an option to book, so the only way I was able to book was by adding the swimming slot to my cart on the app and then logging into the website to check out. Then when I got to the pool the changing rooms were gross, for a pool that had been open for members only for one week I was really surprised at how bad they were. There was standing water everywhere, rubbish on the benches, every single locker was dirty meaning that I didn't even want to put my things in it as they would come out dirty. The unisex toilets had urine all over the seats meaning that I couldn't use the toilet and then when I came out of the toilets both soap dispensers were broken. It appeared as though no one had cleaned that day, or perhaps for even longer. Someone really should be doing checks every hour or so and wiping down the insides of the lockers, pushing the standing water into the drains with a squeegee, collecting any rubbish, looking over and cleaning any toilets and checking that things like the soap dispensers are full and working. The pool itself was nice, very cold though and the cold breeze coming off the sea made it feel even colder. For some reason you swim in the lane anti-clockwise which I have never seen before. I'd also recommend goggles that have some sun protection in them as the sun bouncing off the water was blinding. For £11 per swim I don't plan to come here again unless there is a real effort made to address the state of the changing rooms.

Disappointing!! primarily due to the water temperature being uncomfortably low. The pricing too felt steep, at £11 per hour, or a slightly discounted £7 per hour if one opts for the £55 monthly membership. Given the less than stellar service quality, I found the prices to be unjustifiably high.

Great facility, glass walls help with the 'outside' feel. Proper lane dividers, decent showers. Costs a bit more but we'll worth it

Lovely location, great pool. But water is too cold, had to stop swimming as my ears started to hurt from the cold. Was not allowed to warm up in the sun next to the pool! Showers and changing rooms had lots of dirt, garbage and hairs on ground which is unacceptable for £11!!

Lovely clean facilities, great lane swimming system (so you can choose for your pace) and friendly staff. It is slightly more expensive to go on an ad-hoc basis, but the views make it worthwhile!

Went to watch the football, lovely football crowd which was ace. Unfortunately no house red, the alternative being over £20 for 2 glasses which I didn’t know until charged. Complimentary food brought out to everyone apart from us!

The table was booked for 5 adults and two dogs. Great food and plenty of it, even the dogs were given a separate bowl full. It was very busy but the food was brought quickly and piping hot. The only disappointment was the location of the table, next to where the food was served from and we didn't feel we could relax after the meal. This was only a minor inconvenience. As I said it was very busy but with quality of service and food you could understand why. Highly recommended and we will return.
