Booked here for my daughters 6th birthday party. Disaster from start to finish. Awful traffic meant we were late ( not the coffee house' fault) however the party was then rushed. Food was gross. No butter in the sandwiches and stale crisps. I have dealt with jacqui the manager, who said the children were the reason the party was not a success as she could not control 8 children by herself. Jacqui was already cleaning up the food before the children were finished. I have tried to deal directly with them before leaving this review but nobody will deal with my complaint. Overall there was no value for money and I was left with one unhappy daughter. All the children had a McDonald's on the way home as the food was so poor and not enough of it!!!

We purchased a chocolate party. Excellent value with Groupon. The children all loved it, they got to decorate a chef's hat when they arrived, had a variety of chocolate themed activities and then had some party food. They were also given a fun box to take their chocolate goodies home in. Made it really easy for us. Very impressed. Thank you.

Attended for an afternoon tea that a friend had arranged via Groupon. We booked for a group of 7. We were placed on 3 very small bistro type tables pushed together on the the side of the main walk way through the resturant. There was no room to fit the food and drinks on the table and every time someone walked past it felt like they were in the middle of your group. The staff were disinterested in providing service. They were not willing to take into account dietary requirements and served the vegetarians option on the same crockery are tuna sandwiches. Really disapointing.

My wife was given a Groupon voucher for tea for two. We booked through their website - their booking page, to our surprise, didn't ask for a date or time (a web design error, we thought, which is interesting in view of the other business activities of the company), but we put that in the commments, and received a confirmation quite quickly. We thought this was an unusual establishment - it was the first time we ever saw a coffee house combined with a web design studio - but apart from some posters and other advertising material for the web design services they offer, you don't notice much difference with a normal coffee shop. We were welcomed, and since the few tables were all taken, we were shown to a seating area at the back, where our tea for two was served. There was a good choice of sandwiches, sweet choices and of course scones, jam and cream. Service was friendly and prompt. All in all we had an enjoyable experience, and we'd definitely recommend the coffee house to other. But how a coffee house which has been combined with a web design studio can have a web site with a booking page that hasn't been thought through very well, is a mystery to us...

Bought as a gift for us and having seen the image and description we were really looking forward to this treat. But the ready prepared cake stand had been in chiller all morning with cakes on it so all were very cold. Likewise the 'delicately ' prepared sandwiches which were again chiller cold, one corner had sloppy egg mayo oozing out and another had a 1" square of packet ham in it. The other two 1/4 had tuna and cheese which were ok but all bread was dry. Staff had to microwave the scone to make it warm enough to eat. On a plus note T was good. Your advertising image really should reflect what customers get. Staff were polite but one was busy with her hair and looking for a car on a laptop and the other appeared full of a cold, not good when working with food. I'm sorry but no repeat custom here

was given a voucher as a birthday present. No greeting when entering as the 2 staff were chatting to eachother. Asked what drink we would like...a cake stand with what appeared to be Iceland frozen mini cakes dumped in front of us with some sad looking sandwiches on top tier...just cut in 1/4s not even placed nicely on there....were not asked what bread we would prefer...or what fillings. it was the most awkward afternoon tea I have ever had. Te sanwich was made of one white and i brown slice....they were not made fresh...the actual worth was minimal. Would never visit again

I purchased an afternoon tea for four Groupon at SDM coffee house. It was a bargain as it was half price but we still expected a little more for afternoon tea. We booked a 4.30pm slot for afternoon tea which I wouldn't advise as they close at 5.30pm so it gave very little time to enjoy the afternoon tea. There were very few sandwiches and they weren't terribly fresh. There was a selection of very small cakes which were nice but, again, there were not a lot of them. The afternoon tea looked nothing like the picture that was displayed. However, the coffee was very nice and the scones with clotted cream and jam were nice. They were cold although the staff did offer to warm them up. With such little time, however, we chose not to do this which is a shame. I must say the most disappointing part of the afternoon tea was the table and seating area. We were sat at a table pushed up against the wall with very little seating. We had to cram everything in on the table which wasn't very comfortable and certainly didn't create that decadent feeling that one would want from an afternoon tea. Overall, we were gone within the hour and left feeling a little deflated. I certainly wouldn't go back. However, it was ridiculously cheap - I think it worked out as £4.40 each - so this was definitely proof that you get what you pay for. If you're someone thinking this may be a hidden gem at a bargain price, think about going somewhere else.

I asked for a bacon sandwich on brown and the staff proceeded to take out a container of previously cooked bacon and pop it in microwave. To say that it was below standard was an understatement! The staff however were lovely and when I asked if there was any chance of fresh cooked bacon they apologised and said this was a new thing they were trying. The eating premises was clean although the loo had seen better days (but is shared by another business)

Well organised, great party host. Food a little limited for the children, no option to make anything up on the day. Also having the party at the end of the day, although quieter in the shop, meant that it felt a bit like they were waiting for us to leave so they could shut up the place for the night.

I was given a groupon voucher for afternoon tea for two and was really looking forward it. I would sum up the experience as ok. It definitely wasn't anything special. The young waitress looked like she was forced to be serving us. No enthusiasm from her and definitely no smile! We ordered our tea which arrived promptly. The sandwiches were tasty but presentation for afternoon tea was zero. What happened to cutting off crusts and maybe presenting neatly on a plate? Scones were nice. Smaller fancy cakes looked and tasted like they had just defrosted from the Icelands packet. On a positive, the latte was hot and delicious. Stick to coffee I would say. I would not of been prepared to pay full price and would not consider taking anyone else there for afternoon tea. Shame.

The staff were patient and kind to the children and were generous with the chocolate. As a true chocolate lover I expected it to be cheap and nasty but it was proper Belgium chocolate and the kids made solid chocolate moulds and lollies. Very pleasant afternoon tea. Choice of sandwiches which were made to order, we chose beef with horseradish and Brie with cranberry. Our sandwiches were on the top tier of our cake stand. The bottom tier had two fresh scones, cream and jam, two slices of Christmas Cake, two mini mince pies, two Danish pastries and two caramel shortbreads. The scones were full size and the others mini but all were delicious. There was a choice of coffee's and tea, with refills when asked for. The staff were very friendly especially Jackie. A children's party was just finishing as we arrived and we had a quiet coffee shop as we left before another was due to start. I've visited this coffee shop a few times with Groupon and without. Service is always excellent and the choice of cakes and sandwiches for afternoon tea is really good. The mini doughnuts are to die for but the best thing is the hot chocolate. So often you get hot chocolate that is warm and weak but not here. High quality cocoa beans are used and what you get is a fabulous and gutsy hot chocolate. Staff are friendly and very accommodating.

We bought the Groupon deal for afternoon tea with cheeseboard. Firstly we were refused a table as we had not booked and no attempt was made to accommodate us. We went a week later having booked. The coffee house is small. It had no atmosphere and felt unwelcoming. We ordered cappuccinos which were terrible. No foam and no flavour. The food was good. 2 rounds of sandwiches, scones, a selection of sweet bites and the unusual addition of cheeseboard with olives. The staff seemed disengaged and were more interested in their phones than providing good customer service. I couldn't justify paying the full amount for this afternoon tea and will not be buying the Groupon deal again. If you are going to call yourself a Coffee House, I think you need to be able to make good coffee.

We were given a Groupon Voucher for afternoon tea for 4 people (value = £48.00). It was disappointing to note that this was the normal value of afternoon tea anyway, so it doesn't seem that there was a Groupon discount in any event. Anyway, we entered the shop and there was a loud cupcake party going on, but the young waitress was very apologetic and ensured she sat us in the corner of the cafe away from the little ones which I thought was very nice of her. We understand that young children are going to be noisy - however perhaps it would need some organisation to ensure that cupcake parties and afternoon teas aren't scheduled at the same time as I couldn't really hear my friends at times. The afternoon tea itself was nice - very fresh bread, well made, and the cheeseboard that followed was nice also. My only gripe is that we didn't think that the set up was worth £12 per head - £48 in total. If a glass of champagne had accompanied, then of course it would have been worth £48. But for a 'refillable caffeinated drink', four tiny square sandwiches, a couple of chocolate bites and then some cheese - it didn't seem worth £48 for the whole thing. All in all, if you're looking for the vintage experience, then I wouldn't recommend this place as it's very modern and there isn't much of a view unless you like gazing at the Aldi customers as they drive in and out of the car park. However, we didn't have an awful time and had quite a nice catch up with each other after the little ones had gone home with what looked like very nice cupcakes. The one thing I would highly praise is the staff - all very smiley, very friendly and very efficient. We certainly didn't see any miserable young ladies or encounter any rudeness. If they had been rude then our visit would certainly have been soured, but they were all very personable. For the people who are griping about being told that they had to book their Groupon voucher and couldn't just turn up - well, of course you have to book it. Otherwise, the staff could face 6 groups turning up at once wanting afternoon tea, and the shop just doesn't have the capacity for this.

I purchased Tea for Two at SDM coffee house via a groupon deal.I tried to book a table a couple of times with SDM but they had no resevations available for the latter part of the week in question.I visited the "cafe" for a cup of coffee just to check out the place on a Tuesday lunchtime and it was practically empty and one of the counter staff clearly had not finished charm school. It is a very small cafe with about six small round tables with two lightweight chairs each NOT what one would expect for afternoon tea - quite the wrong atmosphere.I asked the staff about booking arrangements for "afternoon tea" and they said they need a minimum of 24 hrs. notice for sandwich making -won't they be stale I enquired, this was greeted with a grunt.Needless to say I shall not be using my voucher and there is no one I dislike enough to give it to. My complaint is with Groupon for not checking out the merchant/venue.So beware of these too good to miss deals. If you just want a quick coffee for £2 plus then SDM is OK.

Shame I can't rate 0 out of 5. My partner and I went here after purchasing a groupon voucher for panini and coffee for 2. When we arrived there were 2 other people inside and about 8 empty tables. I mentioned to the staff that I had a groupon voucher and immediately got a short and impolite response asking if I had booked. I said no and then was informed I need to book as they are very busy. Remember there were 2 other customers in the store and 4 staff behind the counter. I was essentially asking for a grilled sandwich and 2 coffees however it would appear that the team of 4 were unable to make a sandwich between them and press a button on a coffee machine. I can honestly say I have never had such poor customer service and been treated so badly. I did phone to make a booking when I got home out of curiosity after reading some reviews (I had no intention of going) and they have no availability between now and when my groupon voucher expires on May 27th. Very very disappointing. Save yourself the annoyance and do what we did, head down the road for a delicious pub lunch at the newly refurbished Slug and Lettuce for the same price.

I booked via Groupon for Afternoon Tea for Two for my Partner's Birthday. We will never go back! The young woman on the phone when I booked was rude and officious and unhelpful. When we turned up the "welcome" was lacklustre to say the least! The sandwiches were fresh and moist, but the scones brought in and stale, the tea was very ordinary and down market. What spoiled the experience most was the attitude of the female staff - laid back, uncaring, unfocused! I had to go and ask for more milk at the counter as we were totally ignored after our tea & cakes brought over and we were only a yard from the counter!.The young ladies' sole attention was on the younger male delivery driver and a male customer on his own. The place was not full & we could have had more attention. The staff totally lack customer care and awareness and are not suited to interface with the paying public.

Why book a group of 7 if they can't accommodate us, obnoxious rude lady on arrival not helpful at all!!! People came in after us and were seated first. Food ok average nothing special, scones bit dry! Would never go back

Went there with my husband for a cream tea using the Groupon offer. The food was okay but nothing special and the two young ladies on duty were very busy keeping a group of children happy as they were having a birthday party, which got quite noisey at times.Only have small tables so all a bit of a squash but guess you get what you pay for. Probably wouldn't go back as have had nicer cream tea's for the same price in a much nicer setting.

Just met a friend for a coffee/panini/cake special offer by Groupon at SDM. Absolutely delicious! We both opted for the tuna/onion/peppers panini....one of the best I've ever tasted. Delicious cheese used. I had a chai latte....not as sweet as elsewhere but that's a good thing. It too was delicious. Then on to our blueberry muffin...fresh and also delicious. I have nothing but good things to say today. Service from the three ladies serving was friendly and efficient. Everything was super clean and hygienic. We both felt that today's visit turned our minds around from a past one when it was just ok. If we had paid full price for this we still would have been very pleased. It was also lovely and warm in there.....lots of places skimp on the heating and I rarely take my coat off. We sat at the back on the small sofas and were toasty warm. On today's performance will definitely re-visit!

I have not been inside this coffee house, but over New Year SDM Coffee House was closed and I had a good look in the window and you should have seen what they left in the chiller counter just inside the main window - no wonder you are all disappointed - A part used jar of strawberry jam - nothing wrong with that ? It was TESCO BASICS !!!!! Is that how to impress ? Really ?

My daughter bought a Groupon voucher for herself and I to have Tea for two at SDM with the added option of a cheese and biscuit board. After reading the reviews we were a little apprehensive but we were pleasantly surprised. On being seated we were told the tea and coffee was unlimited, I chose the coffee which was superb, we didn't have to wait too long before we were served with sandwiches, fillings of which we chose from a good selection. There was a large scone each and assorted truffle sponge fancies. Lastly the cheeseboard was served with a good selection of cheeses olives bread and crackers. The staff were polite and pleasant. If you are looking for the Ritz then this not for you but I would definitely recommend it for a very pleasant tea experience.

I buy my coffee ( my Friday treat!) in here every week and can honestly say the coffee is the best in Fareham, way above the standard of the large chains. I can't comment on the food but the staff are friendly and the coffee is excellent.

Purchased a groupon voucher and booked online where there was very limited availability. When we arrived there were no other customers, yet the two girls working made us feel unwanted and couldn't care less.It took about 20 mins for our afternoon tea to arrive and when it did we were presented with stale bread and cheap cakes.Another couple turned up with a voucher for a coffee but were turned away as they had not booked, even though the place was empty!Overall a disappointing experience and i won't ever go back.

Having read other reviews I was somewhat concerned that our visit might be disastrous. It wasn't. It is a small cafe, with a modern interior of granite worktop, chrome and metal chairs and some leather tub chairs further to the back. First impression was that it was very clean and presentable. The two young ladies serving were friendly on arrival. I had purchased a Groupon voucher for tea for two, for £8. What arrived was a selection of small sandwiches (we had one sandwich filling choice each) on very fresh and tasty granary bread. The tuna mayo filling was delicious. The egg mayonnaise filling was tasty but lacked some flavour...maybe seasoning would have helped. True, we did not have a choice if the type of scones we would have liked either.....just fruit scones, but as I like these I was pleased. The cream was proper yummy, fresh clotted cream (as it should be) with passable jam. A small simple improvement would be to buy better tasting jam. Unlike most afternoon teas for two there were not the usual selection of cakes to choose from but two mini mince pies and a selection of mini chocolates/cakes. I didn't taste these but they looked ok. As others have said, if I were paying full price of around £18, I too would have been disappointed. The coffee blend they use is divine. (I think it is called Limini....?) My Latte was one of the best I've ever had. A great tasting blend which they actually sell in the coffee shop. My friend wanted to buy the actual beans, whereas they only had the ground coffee version in the size she wanted. However, the dark haired young lady went out of her way to empty a bag of it's ground contents and fill it with beans for her. This makes for great customer service and would contribute towards us wanting to visit again. One big downside was that I had phoned and booked for 12.30. Somewhat mysteriously I received an e mail a couple of days later telling me my booking had been changed to 1pm. No explanation as to why! No question asking me if that was ok, or would prove to be a problem. I forgot to ask the staff why this happened...... Would I go again? Yes, I would. Perhaps for a quick coffee, maybe a bite to eat. I would like to try the red velvet coffee I saw advertised. (Whilst there, a woman came in who had a voucher from Groupon for a coffee and panini combo.....it sounded like it was her third visit, so it can't be bad!) They have what appears to be fierce competition in the form of a couple of "shabby chic" tea rooms across the road from them, which I would be inclined to try first before a return visit. I'll report back on them once I have visited. I would give them 3 and a half stars......but am using my phone app and it won't allow half stars so have put 4 stars due to staff friendliness. Simple improvements could make this a much better experience....better jam, proper slices of cake with the afternoon tea and a choice of scones. It was a pleasant experience.

We purchased a Groupon voucher for a cream tea for 2, I'm pleased we didn't pay full price.....my sandwich was made with stale white bread, though my partners brown bread was fine. We weren't given a choice of scones and just had 2 fruit scones put on the table so when I asked if a plain scone was available I was told it wasn't. Minimal communication from staff and forget it if you want a smile. I've never eaten a scone before with a runny double cream!! A real talent is needed for this, hence I had cream running all over the place. Staff walked out to the back as we were getting ready to leave, no one around so we just left, at no point were we asked if everything was ok

We had a Groupon for a Panini and coffee at SDM. This is a lovely place for a coffee, but very under-used due to being at the far end of West Street in Fareham. Very good service, and a lovely intimate setting. The main business is the print and copy service, and the coffee/food is the sideline. Being across the road from Aldi may bring in a few customers who wouldn't otherwise notice it, but it is a shame that there is not much passing trade.

Well, after reading all the reviews, I was a bit concerned as to how my Groupon Afternoon Tea was going to go down with my friend.! But, was greeeted by a lovely smiling waitress, I explained I had reservation with a Groupon deal, No Problem. showed us to our seats, and yes, it is a small cafe. but we had plenty of room at our table for 2. we chose our Sandwiches, and it was presented lovely. 2 small scones with Jam and clotted cream. and a selection, of very very rich, small chocolate cakes.! we were full. There were only 8 customers when we went at 3.15. but I would imagine that it could be a little cramped. it is spotless. I personally cannot fault the service we had, I did ring up though and confirm my booking. For afternoon Tea on a sunny day in Fareham, it was good. This is a coffee house, and not Stansted Pavillion, or the Ritz. but we thoroughly enjoyed it. I would go back to sample their coffee, as it was fantastic.and my friends cup of teas went down very well.!

My friend and I had booked afternoon tea with a groupon deal and I very much doubt we'll return. The tables are stuffed into a tiny space so much so that my friend and I had hardly any space to move. I had my 2year old son with me and was told on arrival they don't have highchairs so he had the option of sitting on my lap or squeezing another chair around the tiny table. The staff were very short and seemed very cold, barely any eye contact was made and you were made to feel unwelcome. Although the food was nice I would have been extremely disappointed if I had paid full price as the quantity and choice is nowhere near as good as other local tea rooms who charge the same amount. I have been left feeling very disappointed by the experience as has my friend and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

After reading the reviews I was really concerned that my daughters party would be disappointing for her, especially as she was really looking forward to it. However I have been pleasently suprised. It was easy to book over the phone. The staff were very helpful & they phoned to confirm a week before as well as two emails & text. They started by decorating their own paper hats, & then went onto decorate their 6 cupcakes, followed by something to eat. There was some discrepancies with the advertised content of the party, such as they do not provide aprons, & only having one icing, i.e. each child couldn't choose individually. They all had green in our case. I don't feel this is a problem as such but maybe the website should be changed so you know exactly what to expect. We brought a cake & they added the candles & sang happy birthday. The birthday message on the flat screen was a nice touch too. They enjoyed their sandwiches, crisps & drinks. The kids could wash their hands in the sink & was allowed to use the toilet. The afternoon tea sandwiches & cakes & scones were lovely & we were offered more tea & coffee. The staff were polite & helpful. It was clean & tidy. We used Groupon which was great value. The quoted prices for the Cupcake party & Afternoon Tea is too high for what you get but if they revised this & the description I would think they would get further bookings. Credit where credit is due we were pleased with our visit.

My wife and I recently purchased a Groupon voucher for the SDM Coffee House at Fareham. The deal was for a hot drink and panini for 2.Trying to book was a nightmare and when I mentioned the booking was for a Groupon voucher, we got the impression our custom was not really wanted. The staff were curt and very unhelpful, with excuses like "the computer was not working" and "I can't take the booking incase I loose it". When I finally arranged a booking the conversation went "what about 4pm?" not available "3pm?" not available "2pm? "not available? When it became clear I was not taking no for an answer we finally settled on 1pm. Remember this was for a bacon and brie paini and a cup of coffee!!!!We arrive at the (Studio) cafe at 1 pm and the food and coffee was quite reasonable and there only one other couple in the establishment. The Staff including the boss were unable to offer a smile with the service. Will not be going again.!!

We used the booking service via the Groupon coupon & had no problem finding/ booking a suitable time. This seemed better than phoning SDM direct it would seem.Having read the reviews here we were a bit concerned, however the Cafe was clean & smart if a little on small side (some 7-8 tables). The service was relaxed but fairly prompt & the coffee/ panini was very acceptable :-) The Cafe doubles as a design studio for business websites & cards, etc. A good place to have an informal business meeting or chat over coffee with a light snack.

Groupon offer for 4, thought it would be nice to take our parents. Reassured that this would be ok on phone and booked. Arrived to discover that we had been bumped for a cup cake party and we were squeezed onto 3 twin tables. For an afternoon tea, there wasn't a tea pot in sight and it was definitely not worth the £17.50 I payed for my boyfriend and I. Was the first time our parents had met - It was a bit embarrassing, have had to work hard to improve their impression of my kind of establishment.

Satisfactory at the Groupon rate but would NEVER have paid £17.50 per head. Party host had as much charisma as the spoon i used to stir my coffee. Girls were given Fairy cakes (The cheap ones) NOT cupcakes. I had a sandwich and the bread was as dry as old bones. However, the girls seemed to enjoy it...They are easily pleased at 5-7 years old!!!!

I had a cupcake party for my child last month and was really disappointed with a few things;NO aprons supplied so children were covered in icingNO hats to decorate (the description said the children would get to decorate a hat)Quite a cramped area for the children to sit in for and hour and a half (I encouraged the children to stand up and move around). They were only allowed one colour of icing (the description shows children will get a choice of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla). The girl taking the party had almost no enthousiasm at all and I found myself constantly asking the kids questions to keep them excited.Whilst I think the kids enjoyed themselves, there are so many little tweaks which if done, could make the parties great. However, I think if I had paid full price for this party, I would have been asking for a refund as it was not worth £17.95 per child. The coffee house itself is lovely and the coffee is wonderful but I feel that the Manager has taken on far too many groupon orders and this has been reflected in the quality of the service and the product.I also came here for an afternoon tea with my groupon and again this was completely below standard, the girl serving was miserable, the cakes looked like they were supermarket bought and not very impressive, we weren't asked how the tea was or offered more tea or coffee(as per the description). If you are going to opt in for Groupon, you have to give the client exactly what you would if you were charging full price so it encourages them to return. I fear SDM are cutting corners to save money and this in turn will only make customers leave poor reviews and discourage others from visiting the Coffee House.

We went after buying a groupon afternoon tea voucher for 2, which at £4pp was exceptionally good value. The coffee, 'limini' was delicious, MUCH better than what you get at other high street coffee chains. I had egg mayo sandwich, which was homemade egg mayo on fresh bread, i couldn't have asked for better and my partner said the same about his beef and horseradish. Scone and small cakes were nice but not homemade. Good quality clotted cream, 1 small pot per couple not enough though and a shame about the cheap jam. It was certainly enough to fill us up along with 2 drinks each. Wish I'd known about the lack of toilet facilities before I needed to go!! We nearly didn't take the groupon offer up because when I phoned to check if they had a high chair and room for a pram, the girl I spoke to (with an accent?!) clearly told me there wasn't - any establishment not welcoming of children not popular with me and also alienating a huge client base - parents with young kids, desperately need caffeine!! Ikea sell great highchairs for £15 - I suggest the establishment embraces their younger clientele, happy kids, happy parents. There is after all a babychino advertised on the menu. I also received a lecture on the phone about the amount of people trying to use the groupon vouchers because the expiry date. Surely SDM are doing the Groupon deals to increase their client base, but inadvertently are doing a lot to put new clients off! The coffee is great, the sandwiches lovely, 5 star hygiene rating, brilliant, customer service sadly lacking but with some training could be excellent and could really turn the business around. I got the impression the main focus was on the business out the back of the cafe, SDM design, whatever that is but people kept appearing to order coffee. The coffee shop was quiet, however, the girls on duty were constantly cleaning which gave a good impression, however, what was needed was more smiles and friendliness and the offer of more drinks before having to ask and being told what wasn't on the menu that day before ordering it. It was also too hot, sat up on the sofas but strangely the temperature was okay by the till. If the above-mentioned changes were made, and can't something be done to give customers access to the toilet? I'd definitely go back on a groupon deal to give SDM a second chance.

We had purchased a group on voucher. Had to book via the Internet. We did leave our booking a bit late but did not expect the latest time slot open to us was to be 12 noon. Not exactly afternoon tea but better than a 8 or 9am time slot.Disappointed that the tea was served in a mug not a teapot, the jam was just a small cheap plastic sachet, not a little individual jar and we only had 1 small carton of clotted cream to share, not one each. Only one choice of sandwiches each rather than a mix. Other cakes were just mini bites.Did not get offered any refil on the tea or coffee or asked if the tea was ok whilst we sat there. No toilet facilities.Cream teas in both Sainsburys and Marks and Spencers are superior. Saving grace was that we did not pay full price if we had we would have felt we were ripped off. Will not be returning again.

My friend asked me along for afternoon tea as she'd got a voucher on groupon. The deal included unllimited tea or coffee, neither of which we drink so we asked if we could change the unlimited tea for ONE coke each. We were told this wasn't possible and that we'd have to pay for it separately. My friend then needed to change her toddler's nappy but were told there were no toilet facilities at all and advised to walk down to public toilets. She ended up changing him at our table as we were not prepared to leave the coffee shop.We chose our sandwiches, one choice each from a selection of about 6. We thought we may have had a selection of sandwiches to taste. The cakes were small and the eclairs watery as if they'd recently been thawed out.As soon as we had we finished eating one of the waitresses came over and asked us if we would move as they needed the table. The food was distinctly average but the service was something else. Not once did any member of staff smile or make us feel welcome. They treated us as if we were an inconvenience the entire time. I think it's safe to say I will never go back

We brought a cream tea on groupon, one scone each the jam and clotted cream was the type from a hotel not fresh in ramekins, cakes are not home made they looked like they were brought from iceland and defrosted! Fair for the priced you paid through groupon but definitely wouldn't pay £17 from the menu. Won't be returning

Visited on a Groupon voucher, £8 for tea for tea, voucher value £17. We were served a cream tea for one between two of us (sold on normal menu as cream tea for one @£2.99, ie one hot drink 2 scones, one pack of jam, one pack of clotted cream), one additional hot drink, a thinly spread sandwich each, 2 mini eclairs, 2 mini squares of millionaire shortbread, 2 mini squares of rocky road. It was fair value for the price paid on groupon but I would not have been happy to pay the stated voucher value, and neither were other customers who were complaining about the package. I noticed from the menu that If the items served were purchased seperately the bill would have been at the most £10, not including the few mini cakes which were not available on the normal menu, they the types found cheaply in most supermarkets. The premises do not have any washroom facilities. The staff were pleasant and handled complaints from the customers in a nice manner.

There are dozens of restaurants, cafes and takeaways in Fareham, so proprietors have to be on the ball to succeed here. SDM Coffee House is in, what I call, the interesting past of West Street, part way between the bus and railway stations. We went there for their 'tea for two' as a Mother's Day outing. There were actually six of us. After choosing our sandwiches from a list of about half a dozen, we only had to wait about ten minutes before the food was served; delicious fresh cut sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, butter and jam; mini cakes, and as much tea or coffee as we wanted. The cost of £18 per couple might seem a lot, but compared to others locally, a very good deal indeed. We enjoyed our teas, and look forward to going back again very soon, this is one place that deserves to succeed.

The most depressing Beefeater I have ever been in. Supposed to be a Christmas celebration but even the turkey (and lots of other things) was not available. As for the coffee after, we did not drink it after a second attempt. A see through latte is not what you expect or want. Poor on almost every level. Only about 10 cars in the car park two weeks before Christmas shows that people have gone elsewhere

Service charge? Is this a thing? We travel all over the country and have never been charged a service charge apart from here, the host was kind enough to tell us £10 Off each meal but not about the service charge to be added. Meat was nice salad plentiful but hubby missed sauces.
