Scottish Steakhouse in Highland

We ate in the restaurant and had takeaway. Both meals were superb. The steak was as good as any really good restaurant in France, and the chilli and garlic butter inspired. The gnocchi was just delicious, as was the burger. Compliments to the chef, as well as the fabulous staff.

We stayed here back in August after a 5 day wild hike through the cairngorms so a nice hearty meal was in order. The staff were extremely helpful throughout our evening and provided a quick and helpful service, be it for drinks or for food. We all ordered the haggis and black pud bombs (amazing) and sirloin steak which were cooked as requested and to high standard. We're extremely impressed with the level of service from the helpful staff and food providedI would highly recommend for a great steak and peaceful evening.

A week before our visit to aviemore, we booked a table by telephone for Thursday 17th Sept. to have an end of holiday treat. We turned up on the evening to find the restaurant was closed. Found it very difficult to speak to anyone in Macdonalds but eventually did and they advised the restaurants was closed on a Thursday. On the Friday went to reception to express our disappointment of the previous evening and they knew all about our booking but said they didn’t have a contact number for us. The reason for this is because we were not asked for a contact number. Reception were unsympathetic and reluctant to take blame.Very disappointed ... ended up having a carry out fish and chips which were excellent! Won’t try again on next visit.

Just had a few days away in Aviemore and chose to eat here as we were wanting a steak, The staff service was impeccable, always obliging, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Decor was very nice and restaurant very comfortable. We ordered the haggis and black pudding bombs for starters these were superb. For the main we had the sirloin steak with the pepper sauce and one of us had the t bone, the steak just melted in your mouth, this has to be the best steak I’ve ever tasted. Would highly recommend to anyone. Big thank you to the chef and thank you so much to the lovely staff for their great service.

Came here one Friday evening and had dinner with my partner. We shared a starter of chicken wings and a sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly for my very rare taste and the beef which was so tender. The restaurant is well laid out due to covid and had a lovely cosy atmosphere with the fire. The service was very friendly and they went the extra mile which was very appreciated. Will happily return!

Be careful when trying to find this place, when googling the restaurant, the location takes you to a McDonald hotels site in the centre of Aviemore when in reality you need to be at a site slightly outside. This was admittedly our fault for not double checking, but confusing nonetheless. Thankfully we rang the restaurant and this was fine, they kept the table for us, bonus point for them.The table arrangement and decor etc due to covid is not ideal but the tables were spaced apart, so we can’t really fault them for this. That being said, table service as opposed to ordering at the bar would have been preferable. The food was not bad, but not particularly good. Comparable to a good Wetherspoons, just average. We had no issue with the timing of our food but other tables had issues where the main courses came before starters etc. But I imagine this was due to them seeming fairly understaffed, not the staff’s fault but what can you do. Staff seemed very friendly actually so I’ve given them an extra point, nice guys all round.Overall not a bad meal but I’ll not be rushing back.

We had the fish and chips! Was cooked to perfection. Daughter had sausage and mash although she was really stuck what to choose! Sticky toffee pudding for dessert! Amazing! But I must mention how great the staff were. Times are weird with Covid and the ordering etc is absolutely great and Pedro just never stops!! Very attentive to every guest. Thanks for a lovely experience we will be back

Fantastic service, great system given tricky Covid 19 rules, fabulous food- steak was delicious! Kids were catered for well and we will definitely be back next year!

We ordered the steak and expected a very good quality since this is a steakhouse. Asked for medium well done and instead got an uncooked hard bit piece of meat! also very small portion.

The food was great, the staff was wonderful and they went out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable.

Enjoyed dinner here recently with a group of 5 friends. They were running a special for 2 people with steak and wine for both for only 39 pounds. The restaurant is beautiful and large and our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Everything we tried here was tasty and I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

What can I say. When the food finally arrived it was good but that doesn’t make up for the ridiculous wait to order followed by a 30 minute wait for our drinks (which sat on a tray behind the bar while 3 different staff members lifted it before deciding not to bother bringing it and putting it back down). Staff seemed to be overwhelmed/uninterested in customers. Thankfully Aviemore has so much better to offer.

We decided to eat here as a family meal out. We had a drink in the bar before going for our table. The barmaid was bland with no conversation what’s so ever no please or thank you not even a smile.

I paid £34 for the Rib-eye, 300g. It barely looked like Rib-eye, and it was served medium-well, when I asked for medium-rare. I didn't say anything because there was one person at the bar, serving drinks and taking orders. I just wanted the hell out of there.

Brilliant meal at the steak house restaurant. We were staying in one of the other MacDonald hotels in aviemore on a DBB deal but had the option to eat here and liked the look of the menu.

This dinner was disappointing. The staff didn’t really seem to know what was going on. The food took over an hour to come out. The food was coming out at all different times so we couldn’t enjoy the meal together and although this is a Steakhouse my husband’s steak was over cooked from the medium he asked for, while my friends burger was undercooked. The staff seemed unaccommodating when we asked for Petit Fours with a non-speciality coffee despite being happy to pay the £3 surcharge. Many of our requests seemed to be forgotten about. The kids meals were taken off the menu which was a nice gesture given our experience. On the plus side, if you aren’t in a hurry there is a nice play area for kids to play in while waiting.

Very nice welcome, table by the the fire, meal deal excellent value, steak wonderful, dessert excellent, wished I tried a starter, mat hev to come back!!!

Living locally we took advantage of the Steak and Wine deal on offer at the Scottish Steakhouse.It was a relatively busy Thursday evening so had a good atmosphere but not too busy. We had a bottle of red wine which was lovely and the steak both cooked rare were lovely and had no fatty bits. The chips, onion rings and peppercorn sauce were really tasty and we really enjoyed our meal. Staff were lovely and we moved through to the bar to drink the rest of our wine. Will return whether another deal or not.

We were staying at the Woodland lodges and, as this restaurant is on another site, we got a free transport there. The meals were all lovely - they obviously have an amazing chef..We had steaks, smoked haddock and beef bourguignon. Then sticky toffee pudding and chocolate tart. Some things were not exactly what we had ordered but only in minor details like ice cream instead of creme anglais so it didn't really matter - I think the serving staff are new. The manager Jan was brilliant, We had a great time joking with him. Our complementary lift back to our hotel seemed to be unavailable as no one had told us the reception at the steakhouse shut at 10 pm. We phoned our hotel from our mobile but there was no availability for the transport so Jan gave us a lift in his car. Amazing service! My tip would be to book your return transport at the main hotel reception before you go to the Steakhouse.

Our meal was gorgeous the highlight was the steak it was cooked to our personal preference and the quality of the meat was fabulous. Friendly staff and good service Too full for pudding

Enjoyed our meal here when visiting MacDonald Spey Valley Resort.. Disappointed there was no smoked salmon starter left but enjoyed the prawn cocktail. The blackpudding scotch eggs were also great. Ribeye steak and beef bourginon were also excellent and no deserts were required. The atmosphere was great with fire burning and twinkling lights and the staff were to be commended for their service. We also enjoyed the Scottish Music after dinner, a shame it wasn't better supported.

We went with some friends and enjoyed a lovely meal. The steak was delicious, tender and perfectly cooked. The fish and chips were also perfect. Prices are around average for the area. The staff were helpful and friendly and I would recommend this restaurant for a good quality meal!

4 of us enjoyed a lovely meal. Our starters were fine but the steaks were excellent - thick, tender and perfectly cooked rare or medium rare. The accompanying dries or thick chips were well cooked as were the greens. Really delicious.

We stay at Spey Valley every September and this time decided to have Sunday lunch for a change. The restaurant is normally quite expensive but they were doing a special of 2 courses for £14.95. The food was lovely, portions large and the service was good - far better than previous years. Both the waiter and the head waiter were very pleasant and professional. It was a shame it was so quiet.

My wife and I enjoyed our meal here and the restaurant staff were great. Slightly overpriced for what it is but probably to be expected considering it's location (within a hotel/golf resort). Wouldn't put me off visiting again.

I was only staying over in Aviemore for one night and fancied a Steak so popped into the Scottish Steakhouse on my way passed to make a reservation but court the start of the evening service and took advantage of the 30% off the food bill pre 7pm the have running. The menu has all the normal type of steak you except as well as a guess steak. Along well as how I wanted the streak cook you also get the choose of pre cooking dry rubs for the meat that is something I've not see outside of USA. Add to the a great sauce and massive hand cut chips the meal really was excellent. Service also very good, my server came to me a couple of minutes after I order to asking me if it was ok that the steak was going to be around 15 minutes amd if this was ok well that to me is the perfect time to prep cook and rest a good streak. All in all an fun experience that I'll repeat next time I'm in Aviemore.

Been going to Aviemore for years this was the best steak I have had in Aviemore they had a steak deal on as well which made it all the more enjoyable .my brother had the fish, superb as well , desserts excellent ,"good value for the money "

En entrant dans ce complexe « piscine, bar, restaurant, salle de fitness », nous avons failli fuir suite à l’ambiance et à la décoration totalement surannées...Peu de choses semblent avoir été refaites depuis les années 80 ! Finalement, le repas, bien que pas fantastique , s’est bien déroulé : viandes de bonne qualité, goût de la grille de cuisson un peu trop prononcé, service sympathique.

We visited this restaurant early in the evening. The waiter/receptionist in the restaurant made a fuss of how we hadn't booked but would fit us in. While we were there the number of tables with diners amounted to six with the vast majority of the tables being unoccupied. We had the set menu and service was quite slow. The food was ok, we had steaks, but nothing special although the pistachio ice-cream was delicious. I ordered a bottled soft drink which I noticed was past its best before date. It tasted ok and they did take that off the bill.

My family have had a property at Dalfaber since it opened. We haven't eaten at the Restaurant for 6 years as it was so bad. Decided to give it a try and we were surprised to find that it's probably worse than before. Ordered Venison stew and Shepherds pie. After five minutes we were informed there was no Venison so changed to medium rare steak( it advertises as a steak restaurant) We waited 40 minutes with no food then asked where it was; a few minutes later it arrived. In the meantime I over heard a Mummy at the next table ( the only other table in use!) say I think the service is quicker at home!! The children were getting restless with the long wait, Steak looked fine, not brilliant presentation. It was Medium not Medium Rare as requested ; something in a Steak Restaurant you would expect it to be just right. The Shepherd's Pie was inedible, tasteless and dry. Very poor presentation. Schools dinners would be better! When we pointed out the poor quality of the meals the manager was called . He seemed surprised as if this never happened but reading other review this is not an unusual problem. Goodness knows how they cope if there were more than 2 tables to service.

On a quiet evening we had average service (could have been a little more friendly) and our steak and salmon meals were fine but nothing out of the ordinary. We did expect a better tasting steak for s Scottish restaurant and the meal at £45 for two with a couple of drinks was not cheap. The starter and dessert menus did not enthuse us at all.

Visited aviemore for a night away and decided to eat here as the menu looked lovely however very much a let down. Ordered our meal and after an hour had to ask for the bread and balsamic vinegar we ordered..and hadnt even had our starters. There was only one waitress and one guy who seemed to be doing frount of house. There was only 4 or 5 tables in but no one was happy. Meals were coming out one at a time and some people at tables were half way through their meal and they were just bringing out the other meals for the rest of their table.

Very well presented courses and children particularly liked their specials. Grownups’ food okay. Wines a tad expensive but good array of beers and spirits. Lovely desert. Haggis and black pudding starter probably the high spot for me.

Ate here one quiet Tuesday night and the menu looked appealing. We ordered fillet steaks (£32 each) expecting them to be worth it, being as it’s a steak restaurant. When they arrived, neither was cooked as we had asked (one rare, one medium rare), both were medium. Not good enough for the amount we were paying and the fact that steak was meant to be the specialism. We also ordered a side dish which never arrived. When we asked, it took so long to arrive that we had finished our mains. The price of the side wasn’t knocked off our final bill, which it really should have been. Overall, we paid a lot of money for a very disappointing meal. Would not return.

Had a meal at the steakhouse, wasn’t sure what to expect as reviews weren’t too good, but it was very nice and even though the barman had to serve drinks and wait on in the restaurant he coped admirably and was very pleasant. I’m not a big fan of steak so opted for the shepherds pie which was delicious. My husband enjoyed his steak.

My partner and I booked Sunday lunch for the two of us. When we arrived, we were greeted by the restaurant manager who was very friendly and attentive. Orders were taken quickly and drinks arrived fast. My partner and I both opted for the slow cooked beef, followed by the chocolate brownie. The beef arrived quickly, and initially looked appetising. We saw at this point that the advertised creamy mash had been replaced by roast potatoes - not a problem. However, when we started eating, we realised that the food looked a lot better than it tasted. The roasted vegetables (carrot, swede and parsnip) were almost uncooked. Some were impossible to even cut with our normal knives. The beef was clearly vacuum packed and unfortunately had no flavour at all. The potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were fine, and the gravy was the best thing on the plate. The manager asked if all was ok, so we mentioned that the vegetables were uncooked. He looked surprised and a little disbelieving, but offered to bring more. 10 minutes later, with our meals stone cold, a bowl of vegetables arrived. These had been microwaved and drenched in olive oil - we couldn’t eat them. Our plates were cleared away without comment or apology, and half an hour later our brownies arrived. These were perfectly fine, but at this point we just wanted to leave. We were the only people in the restaurant and the atmosphere was very strained.

We arrived at this restaurant on a Monday night. we ordered a chicken burger and a Caesar salad and a steak. After ordering the waiter came back over to announce that there was no chicken! This was 5.30 and the restaurant only had 4tables occupied!

Went to the Steakhouse for a Mothers Day Meal and was not disappointed. I had booked at the bar earlier in the week and shown the A la Carte and set menu which looked great and he bar man said was being served on Mothers Day. I booked this and when arrived found out these were not the menus but they had put on a special mothers day menu which was great. We all had the Roast beef and it was so tender it was lovely. Service Great and lovely atmosphere. We only live 5 minutes away so definitely be back!

We came here last week to sample some nice steaks, service was smiley and polite. Although for being a steak house the staff were undereducated in their menu. We asked one member of staff what type of steak it was on the menu to be told it was a steak... they then went to fetch the manager who looked at the menu and went off into the kitchen to find out when he returned we were informed what type of steak it was.

We ate at the Scottish steakhouse as we had seen they had an early bird special offer on. Getting a table was no problem as We were the only people in the restaurant.

5 minutes standing waiting to be seated when there was only one other party in the restaurant. 45 minutes before the drinks order arrived. Food was fairly poor. Four of our six mains were served and the waitress went off to clear another table. Three different people came to ask how the meal was while we were eating, where were they when we were waiting to be seated?

Has to wait over 10 minutes to speak to someone for a table. Accommodated special request which was a nice touch. The children were very happy with meals. The burger was very good. Thought it was a little pricey for standard of service but it is a very nice restaurant and the food was tasty.

Poor service, with several items off the menu. Ages for drinks a starter that never came. The embarrassed waiter advised the chef was very busy. There was three tables. It’s a pub in a timeshare resort. Please don’t waste your money.

On Thursday a couple of weeks ago my wife and I dined at the Spey Valley Steakhouse. We sat down at 6.30pm, and for a time were the only diners there. The service was excellent, as you’d expect at such a quiet time, and the food was equally good. On the strength of that experience we returned on Friday a week later with two visiting friends who were staying nearby. On this occasion the service was appalling. We sat down at 7.30, and had a simple meal comprising ‘nibbles’ (not full starters), main course and desserts. This took 2 hours and 40 minutes! There was apparently nobody in overall charge, and there appeared to be only two staff in the restaurant. For long periods they were both absent, and after two of us had had our main courses delivered they just disappeared - and one of us had finished his main course before we were able to attract the attention of the waitress and remind her that two of us were still waiting. It was 10.10pm when we finally finished our desserts in a hurry as our friends had to pack - they were departing the following day.

Dined last night, had no reservation but after consulting computer we were given a table between two doors that opened into the kids play area outside. Only two other tables were occupied. We were given menus and waitress returned after about 15 mins to take our drinks order, 20 mins later we got our drinks and food order taken. Two out of 5 ordered starters, my husband after 30 mins had to go to the bar and ask where our starters were - 2 bowls of soup should not that long. They were quickly served after that. Almost an hour after ordering we got our main courses which we all enjoyed. We ordered 4 sweets and a coffee which arrived relatively quickly compared to other courses but were given soup spoons to eat them with. For somewhere that advertises itself to be a prime dining location, this fell well short. The two waitresses on duty were also serving in the bar but we expected a high level of service which was not delivered. Come on Macdonald hotels if you want repeat business then train your staff and make it a memorable dining experience for the right reasons. There was no manager to speak to otherwise we would have voiced our opinions to them prior to writing on here.

Well as the title says this was our first dinner out without kids in years and I must say all the food was delicious. We had starters, mains and dessert so we can recommend this. Haggis balls with whisky sauce delicious as was the trout and partner enjoyed his steak. My pudding was Devine opted for the crumble and you would be sorry when you try it although the portion was massive.

We ate here a couple of times and the staff were brilliant ! TYhe steaks were awesome too and I had haggis bon bons as a starter - delicious

Extremely long waits for any service, sat at far end of restaurant, waiters ignored us, felt only attention given to diners residing in hotel, very overpriced food, children steak meal £14 for a tiny piece of steak, adult portion very much bigger was £17. Chicken burger £14 was piece of chicken in bun with pot of chips, no dressings or vegetables. Would not recommend under any circumstances.

I Cannot praise this restaurant high enough. i have lost count of the disappointing steaks i have had over the years. But the Ribeye i had here was best i have tasted in a very long time - melt in your mouth. Staff are excellent and very attentive. My Wife had the fish and that was also delicious. 10/10

We attended the restaurant as a party of four, the welcome was very friendly yet professional. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed. The service was prompt but not rushed. We ordered two smoked salmon platters, scotch broth and mussels to start which everyone enjoyed. The mains were rib eye steak, rump and rack of beef for two all cooked perfectly to our requirements. The staff were attentive and polite. The desserts were also tasty. I I liked the fact that the evening was paced just right no rushing and the ambience was great. Only slight confusion on the menu it states a 12.5% service charge would be taken but it wasn't clear if we had been charged and as we wanted to make sure we tipped the excellent service we just needed to clarify and it wasn't on the final bill so we left a tip with the staff. We would definitely return and recommend to our friends.

As we were staying at the Macdonald resort, we decided to take advantage of a complimentary £10 discount voucher. We arrived at 6.30pm and asked for a table for 3. The waiter consulted with a colleague to see if we could be fitted in. She decided we could and we were shown to a distant corner table in a restaurant with only 2 tables occupied. We assumed prebooked diners would perhaps arrive for 7 or 7.30pm. The waiter took some time to take our drink and subsequent food order. There was no ambience in the restaurant only pipe music. We ordered 3 sirloins and the waiter arrived with extremely large, sharp steak knives, nearly causing my husband an accidental circumcision as he dropped one in his lap! The steaks were beautifully cooked to perfection, the onion rings homemade, hot and crunchy. That said, we did feel they were overpriced at £22 each, although most restaurants in the area weren't much cheaper. The menu stated that a discretionary service charge of 12.5% would be added. On receipt of the bill, we wouldn't have been happy if the charge had been added as the service had been below average. However, the restaurant failed to add our drinks to the bill yet added onion rings although they were included in the price of the steak. We did point this out but the waiter thought they balanced the bill out, (actually in our favour!) He didn't recognise our discount voucher and had to return and seek his colleague's advice again. As we left at 8pm we were the only people in the restaurant! Why the kerfuffle to fit us in? Bit of a disappointing experience.

we popped in fro a quick meal prior to going to the cinema, there were three of us, all three meals were excellent, good service and pleasant surroundings. Well done, we will defiantly be back.

On first arriving, we were asked to wait 1 hour for a table despite there being many free tables in the restaurant. On returning, we were escorted to our seats by a friendly member of staff. However, it took approx 35 minutes to receive our drinks after sitting down. When the food came it was nice, however the medium steak we ordered was very under cooked. We did not send the food back as several other tables around us were starting complain about many things such as cold food, bad service and long waits. When we asked for the bill, we had to send it back 3 times as there was mistakes so be careful. This is a very expensive place even for Aviemore prices for reasonable food and very poor service.

We ere staying in this hotel and decided to try this restaurant on our first night there. Its a quite a large dining hall and seemed to be busy on this particular evening. Our starter portions were very generous, especially the mussels dish which we really enjoyed. We both had two steak dishes, both of which were lovely but on reflection we should have gone with two fillets rather than the butchers cut special as one. We didn't have dessert as our mains were enough. Loved the food here, even the sides were beautiful. Only issue was waiters having to apologize three times for the delays, would definitely go back for the food.

Excellent service but the food lacked any sparkle. Dessert was creme brulee but someone forgot to switch on the blow torch.

Obviously you have to expect that hotels are going to be busy at this time of year however when you are staying in a four star hotel its fair to say that expectation should be a little higher. Not here. First of all they didn't have our booking even although reception had confirmed it. The restaurant was more like a conveyor belt than a nice atmosphere to enjoy dinner that was costing a fortune, there was that many people packed in there you couldn't hear yourself think, the service was poor due to the amount of people they had packed into the restaurant (a term I usually lightly, it was more like a canteen). Food was average. Would not go again. Also note accessibility to this restaurant for Wheelchair users or people with difficulty walking is VERY POOR. You cannot access this restaurant from the reception unless you can walk up the stairs. If you cannot walk up the stairs you need to leave the main entrance walk across the car park to the hotel rooms building along a corridor up one level on the lift, along the corridor to just above the reception, have someone able bodied in your party go down to reception to allow you access to the stair lift, reach the restaurant to another stair lift, speak to a member of staff to allow you to use the lift! In this day and age this is ridiculous and not very good for the person in the wheelchair seeing all the fuss just to get them to dinner. VERY POOR. In addition if the wheelchair users wants use the disabled toilet, they must go through the whole rigmarole again of using 3 lifts as the disabled toilet is just off reception on the ground floor. Don't know how they have been getting away with this poor standard its a disgrace!

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The food was of a very good quality, was served quickly despite the restaurant being busy and the staff were helpful and attentive. The menu has a good selection of food too so can cater for anyone.

On reading previous reviews I thought I was in for a bad time in this restaurant, nothing could have been further from the truth. On arrival we were promptly seated and served our drinks, the service throughout the meal was exemplary, and yes the staff were not British but all spoke excellent English and there was no communication problems whatsoever. The food was first class as well, three course of well proportioned, balanced and tasty food at a reasonable price,

On a weekend deal in a lodge DBB Very pleasant restaurant and nice ambience. The staff were attentive and very busy ( Friday night ) However we had a very pleasant 3 course meal with coffee and wine and a courtesy bus collects you and takes you back to your lodge

I'm very surprised at the negative reviews for this restaurant. We found the food to be imaginative, nicely cooked and well presented. The staff were pleasant and well trained, and attentive without being overbearing. We enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal for 2 for less than £50.

We stayed in Aviemore at the hotel for a week while visiting family in Inverness. While we encountered some accessibility problems, the management and staff were exceptionally helpful in finding immediate solutions and this made all the difference for our stay. The food at the restaurant was wonderful - great breakfasts and dinners and an excellent selection of wine. We brought family there for a night out and they enjoyed it immensely.

Simply horrendous staying at hotel so went to the restaurant as its part of the deal we had my wee mans fish was so soggy I presumed it was straight out of the see my wife's salmon was well over cooked and my lamb was just bits of fat as

Terribly managed, Food was over priced and mediocre, None of the wait staff knew anything about wine, no vintages posted on the wine list, was recommended a wine , cost 80 us , should have been 20 or less. The steaks were more like a sizzler than a real steak house. The manager raved about the dessert which was more like a boring pudding. We ordered the featured scotch from the menu only to be told they hadn,t gotten a bottle of it yet. We were treated as if we were an inconvenience , which I am shure we were

Whilst staying at this resort we chose to dine here and were not disappointed. The food was beautiful. The service was excellent the staff were very attentive without being a nuisance and the décor was lovely.

We zaten in het hotel en hebben hier drie dagen gegeten (half pension). De ervaringen zijn zeer wisselend. Onze conclusie, te groot restaurant met te weinig personeel en teveel keuzes. We hadden half pension; kregen de ene avond een vast menu en mochten ook uit de grote kaart kiezen (of menu of kaart geen combi), tweede avond vast menu of uit een kleine kaart (niet mixen!), derde avond maakte het allemaal niet meer uit. Verder hebben ze hotelgasten, losse eters, groepen met reisleiders (Aziaten, Russen) en allemaal met andere menu's. De tweede avond hebben we 3 uur gezeten voor 3 gangen en was het een enorme puinhoop, ook bij andere tafels.

Having a £25 allowance for the a-la-carte menu, we spent £20 intending to use the balance for coffee, this is not permitted we were told, I was charged £7 for 2 coffee's, this was subsequently returned the next evening with the help of the duty manager, my other hotel experiences possibly had something to do with this.

We booked well in advance for a family special occasion and the experience was a shambles from start to finish. The menu was limited which I can understand with us being a large party but after emailing the manager prior to our visit, I had been under the impression that we would be choosing from the full menu, so this was disappointing. The service was all over the place. One server would take everyone's drink order then another would appear to do the same 30 seconds later and the drinks took about 20 minutes to come each time. The communication between staff appeared to be very poor. The timing if the meals was probably the worst bit. We all received our main courses at different times, so much so that some of us had to start to avoid eating cold food and had then finished before others had even received their food. The sides arrived long after too so most people had eaten their steak before they got chips. One steak had to be sent back twice as it wasn't cooked at all and the portion sizes were tiny. The atmosphere wasn't great, the whole place was pretty flat and most of the lights above our table were broken so it was far too dark. Taking all of this into consideration, the prices are far too high. Needless to say, none of us will be returning.

As above no complaints about food as it was well cooked and tastey but service was atrocious. Chips missed from the order and waiters English not good enough to understand, chips eventually appeared after the meal was finished. Asked for pudding menu which didn't appear for 20 mins then waited a further 25 mins trying to order with no luck.

We had pre-booked this restaurant for a party of twenty and on arrival they had trouble finding our booking in the name it was booked a month previously so that's when the alarm bells started to ring as this was an important birthday celebration. We eventually were all seated and the staff started taking our drinks order while we looked over the menu. The menu was no where close to what we had viewed earlier that day on line and the prices where a jaw dropping high which made me feel that this menu we had was one they take out where there is a large party knowing we would pay the inflated prices. The drinks all evening being served at our table was shockingly slow and even getting the drinks orders wrong was common and having them retuned to the bar and being added to the bill for drinks we had not ordered. Out of the four servers at our table not one of them could speak good English so there was the first problem. When we received our food which again was such a long wait and as for the starters many of us laughed at the tiny portion sizes it was well worth taking a picture. We sat waiting for over ten minutes for the side orders to go with the sorry looking main coarse, this small piece of food in front off us and most of us had to call a waiter over to ask where are our side orders and by then what we had was cold. The menu also says that the chips are served homemade hand cut, what we received was the exact type of fries you would get at a well known burger drive through. Out of the twenty people two had desert the rest of us ware so disgusted we did not want them to take any more of our hard earned money. My advise is stay clear but if you do take the gamble and try it out just make sure your wallet or purse is bulging with money because you will need it. Oh and make sure you have eaten before heading there.

This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. All the staff that I met and heard that night other than the manager are from overseas with a poor understanding of how a restaurant functions. You have to wait a long time for any food to be served and as for ordering a drink then forget it you might as well head down to the local shop and get your own. Don't go in there if you are hungry you will leave wanting to head for the nearest takeaway. You are most likely to receive your starter and main with having to ask a member of staff for the rest of it. Everything is so over priced you will leave feeling like you have just been ripped off. Please take my advise and stay well away from this terrible overpriced shamble.

Lamenting the loss of Aspects restaurant but really happy with meal on a Friday night.

Well presented food which tasted lovely. However we found the dishes to be over priced, and this is probably as the hotel chain have captured their audience via the residents who probably would not go away from the hotel. Probably the best in Aviemore so don't blame them.

Even though this restaurant is a little expensive the quality of the food was good. The restaurant is comfortable & the service good too.

We visited to Scottish steakhouse as a family, the staff were courteous and attentive on our first visit, not do much do on our second! The food on both occasions was wonderful and full of flavour. Our daughter enjoyed the sausages and mash from the kids menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. Should we come back to Aviemore we'll certainly be paying another visit.

Ate here for a well priced and tasty Sunday lunch with good views of ducks, small birds and the red squirrel. Had an evening meal later in the week which was tasty and well presented.

This restaurant has a tranquil atmosphere in the evening but is busy at breakfast. The food and service are both excellent and the staff are friendly and professional. We were especially impressed by Andy and his wine recommendations. Very highly recommended.

Staff appeared to try to be friendly but felt forced with no warmth from the majority. No sparkling water in stock menu looks great. Food very good. Atmosphere soulless. Feels like it's run by accountants. No true interest in us

We are staying at the Macdonald resort. The variety of food offered for a steak restaurant was great.

We first visited last year during our two week holiday in Avimore. I cannot stress enough how amazing this restaurant was, during our stay we returned several times..

The food was so delicious we went both nights during our stay. Fabulous service and dealt with my nut allergy with no problem.

So so good here, really excellent meal, staff really friendly, nice clean place, would defo recommend, defo be back

Sommige gerechten waren best geslaagd, zoals de tonijnsteak, de seafood chowder en vegaburger. Maar de gerookte zalm was smakeloos en kwam uit vacuum. En de salades ( zogenaamde caprese en ceasar) sloegen echt nergens op en waren ook niet lekker. Kok moet in dat opzicht zijn huiswerk doen.

Fabulous food , steaks were perfect everyone got what they ordered. Desserts were amazing the shot glass choice was great , a little taste of everything . Would totally recommend .

Would definitely eat here again for a special occasion as service and food great. A bit pricey for everyday holiday food.
