Scholar's Restaurant in Glasgow City

Absolutely loved our lunch experience on Monday. We received a warm welcome and were looked after by friendly and immaculately turned out students. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and tasty. Compliments to the chefs. We had a large table of 10, service was sleek and while the staff were attentive, they were unobtrusive. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Scholars is a restaurant that delivers very good food and service, the food training here is excellent and the chefs are exemplary in their knowledge, training and delivery. On this occasion it fell short, I was very disappointed by a front of house server who wore glasses. He huffed and puffed over our table, obviously not used to dealing with numbers, or perhaps thought that due to student shortage he reluctantly had to serve us. He had no eye contact with the guests whatsoever. I approached the front desk to pay for my food and drinks and was told almost jokingly that I had to pay for two bottles of wine, we were paying individually and had a glass of wine each. Totally unprofessional Please bear in mind that this is a training college and I observed that 3 students were right beside him when he made this statement. Also, I was not invited to see the card reader before I paid, very poor show. Overall, a very nice lunch that could have been improved by remembering that this restaurant training is supposed to hone students’ skills to be the best they they can be, this wasn’t demonstrated on this occasion by unprofessional teaching staff.

Restaurant is run by college as a training establishment for its students but this doesn't diminish the quality of service or food. Waiting staff friendly and attentive and we both enjoyed our menu choices of pork and turkey mains. Excellent value as I believe prices are set to only cover costs. Will certainly be back, pity it only opens for lunch.

We had our team lunch here and it was excellent quality food. Will certainly return. It was our Christmas lunch and there were 10 of us. 2 dedicated attendants.

It was the menu that attracted us to Scholars. Choices good and cost excellent. The food itself was delicious, cooked to perfection and served by cheery and enthusiastic young people. This was our first visit but won't be our last. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

We're delighted that Scholars Restaurant (on City of Glasgow College campus, near Buchanan Street bus station) has re-opened! Students prepare food items and provide table service. This term Scholars is offering "small sharing plates" for lunch and everything was excellent. Don't miss the potato gnocchi or spiced cauliflower (or brownie with banana jam). We are already planning to return!

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to our table. There are three choices of starter, mains and dessert. The food was delicious and served promptly. It was great to see young people being encouraged and supported in a positive environment to learn and develop their skills by their tutor/supervisor. We will be back.

Delicious, innovative food served by pleasant , efficient and well informed catering students. This is an excellent idea which not only allows members of the public to have a delicious meal at an affordable price but gives students necessary hands- on experience.

Young and enthusiastic staff who were training hard and enjoying their work, food quality, service and price were excellent.

Although the restaurant was fully booked on a Saturday evening, we were lucky that the helpful staff - special mention to Arran - found us a table and so we were able to enjoy a really delicious meal in a such a cosy setting. The menu provided good choices, covering all possible dietary requirements at reasonable prices My seabass with risotto was in competition with the succulent pheasant for the best dish of the evening. My friend said it was the best pheasant dish she had tasted and she even liked the parsnip puree. The sweets were a tasty end to a lovely meal.

Had lunch here with a friend who is a veetarian. She said her food was as good as many restaurants she had been to. Everything was delicious,the rabbit dish was especially tasty. Service was friendly. Would recommend and will definitely return.

The food in Scholars is innovative and the quality and price are fantastic . I cant recommend this place highly enough and i hear that they have recently atarted doing afternoon tea. The students who serve are so curteous and polite and have a good knowledge of the food being served.

This was my first visit to “Scholars” and I will certainly return. The squid starter was amazing, and the salmon main, was cooked to perfection. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. 10 out of 10 all round. Well done guys!

A lovely venue to start our visit. The young training staff all worked well to provide very good service. The food was tastefully presented and was delicious. Portion sizes were ideal. Unfortunately we couldn’t manage a dessert. Excellent value too.

Our first visit to Scholars. We were very impressed by the overall standard of service. We’d a friendly greeting when we arrived and were quickly shown to our table. The waiting staff were very attentive and did a great job. Stephen stood out as a natural at this - was unobtrusively aware and had a good, friendly manner. The food, sea bass starter followed by pork belly were well presented and very tasty. The wine complemented our meal well. No room for dessert but we were able to take ours home as a take away- brilliant!

After my last two visits to scholars, I feel that portion sizes, especially mains , have to be increased, to at least be filling ! I always have championed this restaurant, especially as a former student, but £18 for dinner, and I come away hungry, means I won"t be rushing back ! The meals have gone too " Chefy ", with tiny pieces of food, and a drizzle of Jeux. I don"t mind this as a starter, but not for mains.

Excellent cooked venison & jeus, salmon starter nice but dessert basic to be honest. Honestly priced.

Where do I start, so very impressed by the cuisine we had last night and incredible value for money.

Disfrutamos de una comida muy especial preparada y organizada por Gary Maclean; 2016 MasterChef the Professionals Champ. El arranque y el desierto en particular fueron absolutamente sobresalientes. Encantados de informar que todas nuestras expectativas para esta comida especial no solo se cumplieron sino que se superaron. No es un equilibrio fácil de golpear. A friend and I met for lunch. The food was lovely and well presented. Service was pleasant and attentive and it was unbeatable value. I will be back soon.

No puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficiente y he estado entusiasmado con todo el mundo y cualquiera que lo escuche. Defo uno de mis nuevos lugares favoritos para comer.

Llevé a mi amiga para su almuerzo de cumpleaños el 8 de marzo, la comida y el servicio fueron excelentes, el personal fue muy servicial y siempre se aseguró de que todo estuviera bien, teníamos 3 platos y el primer plato de tomate fue solo mmmm. ! tal vez soy parcial ya que mi hija lo hizo jajaja, y por supuesto el resto de la comida también fue increíble, sin duda volveremos y recomendaría una visita que vale la pena 3 platos por 10 no puede superar ese xoxo

Mi esposo y yo visitamos Scholars por primera vez hoy (18 de enero). Muy contento de que finalmente pudimos reservar una mesa. La decoración pondría a muchos un "buen" restaurante a la vergüenza. La configuración y decoración de la mesa fue simple, de buen gusto y combinó con el sentido general de calidad.

Comimos aquí en Viernes 25 / 8 / 17 como una noche con Gary MacClean. El restaurante es luminoso y agradable, y asiento quizás 80. Las noches 4 amalgama tienen comida campo de golf desde el espectáculo y vinos acompañan y fue excelente. Hablar de un corto para cada campo con Gary una visión de cómo las cosas realmente hizo - con un glaswegian hablando - fue genial. Como es su cocina la enseñanza puede ser más y recomiendo una visita

Sólo cenamos con master chef profesional ganador 2016! El personal era increíble, una experiencia estupenda en todo! ! La comida era para morirse (lo digo sinceramente) me encanta chef y era tan feliz cuando Gary ganó, para poder comer su comida es un sueño hecho realidad!

Tuvimos una excelente cena de 3 platos por £9; la comida estaba bien presentada y sabor fantástico. Estábamos bien atendidos por los diversos camareros y camareras, en un ambiente muy relajado. Sin duda volveremos y hacen de este un lugar para comer.
