The Howlin' Wolf in Glasgow City

Located down a side street that may be unsettling if it were not lively. Nonetheless, at night the string lights above provide a welcoming setting. The first room has booths which give a cozy vibe. Downstairs is a larger room with a bar and kitchen where live music may be played. Ordered draught beer. Cocktails are available. Friendly staff.

Ordered vegan cauli wings and chips with vegan sour cream for £19, was no expedite serving size. It was absolutely massive. Such good portion sizes for the price! Great atmosphere with live music.

I have had better Burritos to be honest, but it wasn't awful. House tortilla chips are pretty good, but could improve by offering a pico de gallo type of side for very little cost.

Excellent little boozer this is! One of the few bars open till 3am in the city centre that isn’t a stinking night club. Been here many a time for a late night jar and never been disappointed with the atmosphere. It is a wee bit dear, but I see that more as a “nice bar late night tax”. I think around about the £6 mark for pints and the food we got was around £14-£16 a plate. But tbf the food is good! I got a nice wee jambalaya esque dish, and my friends got the burgers. Now it’s not the craziest wackiest amazing-est food in the world, but it is done well. Everything cooked up and plated nicely, brought to you by friendly and cheery staff. The seating area at the back is cosy and quiet enough for a conversation, with everyone having their own wee booths. Having a spot of dinner here was a pleasure. If you are looking for a late night sit down meal, or a good spot to enjoy a night cap, or even posting up early in the evening to listen to some smashing live music, I’d highly recommend popping into The Howlin’ Wolf! Service, live music and atmosphere were amazing but honestly the fact that the tortilla chips are not made in house anymore let me down alot- used to love that touch but the bought in numbers just don't hit quite as hard

Nuestra visita aquí resultó ser horrenda. Horribles porteros no nos dejaron entrar. Uno dijo que estábamos demasiado borrachos. No habíamos bebido alcohol. Uno de los porteros dijo que nos habían negado la entrada por la puerta trasera. No sabíamos que había una puerta trasera. Revisa tu CCTV y verás que esto es falso. El propietario ha dicho que está muy seguro de que los porteros fueron muy cuidadosos y comedidos en su decisión. Él no estaba allí, no presenció el evento por lo que no puede estar seguro en absoluto. Nosotros 3 somos gente decente respetuosa de la ley y no era un riesgo para el pub. Me siento insultado por los porteros y por la respuesta del propietario a lo ocurrido. De ninguna manera volveré allí. Pobre excusa. Los porteros fueron groseros y antipáticos con nosotros

Don't bother going. My friends and I were refused entry, having allegedly attempted to gain entry at another entrance and been refused for being too drunk. We had not tried to enter previously, and we were not drunk. Having read other reviews it seems this has gone on for years. The door staff clearly just refuse entry on a whim and are incredibly rude and obnoxious. Go to Malone's instead it's just around the corner. Would never return to this place.

A mis amigos y a mí nos negaron la entrada a este bar, estábamos a mitad de camino por las escaleras antes de que el personal de la puerta nos dijo que volviéramos a subir las escaleras. Luego nos dijo que su colega le había dicho que habíamos intentado entrar en otra entrada y que nos habían negado porque estábamos demasiado borrachos. Estábamos confundidos por este comentario, ya que no habíamos intentado entrar al bar en otra entrada, ni siquiera sabíamos que había otra entrada. No había necesidad de la actitud que recibimos. No recomendaría este lugar en absoluto, el personal de la puerta era grosero y desagradable. Fuimos a Malones a la vuelta de la esquina y tuvimos una gran noche.

Amazing atmosphere and great live music, if blues is what you are looking for

Great bar, fine selection of beers. One small irritation is TV screens showing videos that aren't the sounds you hear. Just a personal think that annoys me.

Really great atmosphere inside, excellent DJ. Ruined by the guy on the door that was consistently rude and offensive to people coming in when I was going out to smoke.

6 of us for most of the afternoon/ evening. Booth was a wee bit cramped but we managed. Burgers were really good, in particular the crispy bacon. The main thing though was the service, staff were excellent without any long waits for drinks and served quickly throughout.

We had a work Christmas Day out yesterday and had such a great time. The food was amazing, drinks were great and the staff were so lovely. 20 of us all agree we’ll definitely be back.

Reservamos una mesa para 9. 45 pm y estoy contento de que lo hicimos como el lugar estaba lleno! La música era tan buena, bailaba la mayor parte de la noche! Emily era nuestro servidor y ella era genial, siempre notaba cuando necesitábamos otra bebida. Las bebidas salieron rápido a pesar de que el bar estaba muy ocupado. Tengo que decir que disfruté viendo al personal del bar trabajando, ya que todos se veían tan felices y todo se veía sin esfuerzo que no se ve a menudo en estos días! Definitivamente volveremos y sin duda comenzará y terminará la noche en este lugar!

We arrived on a very wet and cold October afternoon - at that point we were the only people in ( live music is in the evenings) We instantly loved the look/feel of the place and decided to have a beer and a seat, After a great couple of hours, some fantastic music, several Fab-U-Lous cocktails and bowls of the best and hottest fries I've ever had, we left, a very happy pair of visitors. Do yourself a huge favour - just go here?

The noise in here was horrendous and this was before the live band started (who were great). In a group of 10, we could hardly hear each other speak and left after we ate. Otherwise it's a well laid out space, bar staff were lovely, the live band were excellent... Just beyond loud.

Nice retreat and respite in the centre of town. The only time I wouldn’t go there is if you are looking for quiet. Music is always pretty loud.

Tucked away downstairs, great music, nice drinks and tasty snacks. It wasn't very busy but it was lunchtime. The only disappointment was the toilets which weren't great.

Went in one night and was disappointed with the food, think it might have been an off night in the kitchen. Sent and message saying I was disappointed. Promptly got a drinks and food voucher to come back. Went back and totally different food. Both times the service and atmosphere was great. So glad the food match up this time. Many thanks to our waitress and waiter who went over and beyond to ensure out next visit was fab. Thanks guys, great customer service. 👍

We went to the Howlin Wolf before heading to the Pavilion Theatre for a show, the food was pretty good and served quickly. They have a good range of beers and the decor is nice.

Great blues bar with excellent live music. The selection of beers is OK, they have a few beers from the Drygate brewery and of course from Tennent's. Food is no bad as well, good pub grub! One annoyance is tables always being reserved, I prefer the traditional approach that if you've been sitting at a table all day then it's yours.

As an American traveling through Glasgow, this place is off the chart. Service is amazing and the food is lovely. Quite different from what I'd find at home, but there's a powerful amount of soul behind it. Definitely check this place out even if it's just for a drink!

Recommended by the hotel staff we were staying in, we opted to come here as we love live music.. Drinking local beer, listening to live music, we had a great night. A must for anyone visiting Glasgow.

We were in Glasgow for the weekend, and Howlin' Wolf did not disappoint. We initially turned up first time for just a couple of drinks (which to be honest are on the more expensive side but you get great atmosphere with it). We later turned up to have food, the service was lovely, we asked them to keep an eye out for a free table near the front as we ended up seated at the back which they kindly obliged. The drinks options are excellent, and their cocktails are solid. We didn't get to see live music on this visit but from previous visits the music has always been phenomenal. I really do rate this place.

Ive been coming here for a few years, lovely bar, with great live music and open till 3am. The price of a Tennents is not too bad. If there was a music venue on Bath st worth visiting, it'd be this one!!

We did eat in the rear area of the Howlin' Wolf, our choice as it was a bit more private and we kind of had this area to ourselves in our little booth. The staff were amazing with dietary needs etc. and bent over backwards to cater for us. My Boogie Chicken burger with haggis levelled me. The Dirty South was made especially with no mayo or onions and hit the spot. The music was fantastic. So glad the Meat Bar had rude awful staff, if they didn't we would not have found the Howlin' Wolf. We are telling everyone to come here, we are definitely coming back for a live music night. Thank you to the young lady who served us, an absolute joy.

As an avid bar goer, I must say, that was one of the best pisses I've ever taken in a bar! Exquisite urinals! Brilliant service!

I played live here on Saturday night with my band Bison Hip and it was a fantastic night. Great bar, great staff, and the crowd were amazing. Would definitely play here again

We had a very enjoyable meal here on father's day food was excellent service also we enjoyed a wheat beer would recommend the Howlin Wolf 🐺, my son had the ribs I had a all day breakfast which I had been looking forward to all week, definitely will go back.

This is a great bar! The drinks were flowing, and the chicken wings were amazing! The place was pretty busy, but we were able to grab a table quickly, and our food order came out quick for as busy as they were. This is the only bar with a late night kitchen. All the other bars were open late, but their kitchen closed at 8. If you're looking for a late night bite, The Bowling Wolf is the place to go!

We loved this place for his atmosphere, if you love Blues Music and beer this is the place for you, also there's Live Music every day. The food is nothing special but that's definitely not the reason why you come to this place. Very recommended for a fantastic night out.

Just came in for the Sunday night rock'n'blues jam session, which was an outstanding performance. Cool musicians, great atmosphere and good selection of beers. A must visit on a Sunday night!!!

Excellent atmosphere and service

Good food, spacious layout and the best blues venue in Glasgow, but don't look too happy on arrival. The door staff may assume your drunk even if you've just finished work.

First time visit to this busy bar and restaurant with friendly staff. Food was very generous in portion size and the dishes we had were really tasty. Water provided for the table without having to ge asked for which I liked. Good drinks menu too.

Thursday night and 3 Card Trick leaves little to go elsewhere for.. Nice 7 mountains IPA too

There's always a great atmosphere in here, whether it's 4pm and you're the only people in there, or at midnight when it's packed out, along with great music you don't hear anywhere else. Please don't change it.

Visiting from Aberdeen, stumbled upon this place, everything from the door staff to the bar service was incredible, extremely attentive, the band was amazing and the crowd was involved so much it created such a great vibe, even including the recent gig of tenacious D into the set, this is why other cities in Scotland have so much to offer in terms of entertainment!

Dear Goddess! This was a sensation. Glasgow has a fantastic crowd of musicians and artists, and nowhere else has it been as apparent than the howlin wolf. Charlie, if you are reading this you are a pure enchantress. I could have stayed all night.

First time at the wolf and had a good time. We ate there and the food was good. It also had gluten free options a plenty. Great atmosphere with good music. Staff were very helpful.

Good atmosphere, was busy at 6ish with groups of people, couples and families. Went through to the back of the building to eat which was also busy. Food okay, service was quite slow tho, maybe everyone was ordering at the same time. Ribs were very good but chicken burger nothing special.

Great little bar for the vibe and service,food and of course welll stocked bar and helpful crew. Enjoyed the last set of a live band,and yes conversation limited due to the noise level but to be expected in such a close venue. Benn before and will be back. Many thanks to all the crew❤️🙏

Good spot but the front bar is far far too loud. Can barely hear yourself think let alone anyone you’re with. Had to leave early because of it, not sure when I’ll be back
