Only room for improvement would be the music, but that’s personal taste plus they played James Brown as we were leaving so balance was restored…This place made our annuversary very special. The staff here are the best bar staff I've been served by ever. They are attentive to your wants and ready to find something to recommend to you. The cocktails were divine and some of the best I've ever had. The vibes and atmosphere are dark and moody but elegant and classy

I cannot believe I’ve never been here before, the most attentive staff, the music was incredible. Low lighting changing during our visit to suit the atmosphere which was gorgeous, my drinks were chosen on recommendations and I loved them all. ( sore head this morning from the Singapore sling) Alcohol free options and coffee also available - I’m not sure how to describe this place but it felt very special & romantic. A must visit.

In a word: extraordinary! Hands down, my favorite cocktail bar in Manchester! I’ve been here countless times, and I’ve left happy after every single visit. It’s one of those rare places I can comfortably go with both my family and friends, knowing it’ll never disappoint. The staff? Absolutely wonderful—so kind and cheerful that, over time, they’ve started to feel like family. The menu changes frequently, but every single cocktail is a masterpiece. Most drinks are priced around £12-£15, but they’re worth every penny. The atmosphere is just unbeatable, with great music and a vibe that keeps you coming back for more. It’s no surprise this place has been named the best bar in the UK! Don’t forget to grab one of the coasters under your drinks; the little cartoons on them are a highlight for me. Oh, and the mint chocolates they serve with the bill? A perfect touch! Lastly, shoutout to my guy Joshua—if you’re reading this, just know you’re appreciated!

Stumbled upon by accident, but enjoyed some amazing cocktails. Staff are extremely friendly and cocktails are delicious. Just make sure you like ginger if you're going to order penicillin

We had a GREAT night and experience at this bar. We had a cosy table in the corner and was a walk in on a Friday night before Christmas and didn’t have a problem. Drinks menu was vast and priced extremely reasonable. 2 toilets nice and clean. Servers friendly and have recommendations. Would go back any time !

Superb cocktails and the staff could not have been anymore charming or accommodating. They kindly squeezed us in after I had messed up the booking online (a massive thank you again). Knowledgeable service when we asked if we could have a Corpse Riviver, we were asked " No.1 or No.2?)! Naturally we went for the No.2 which was delicious. The Aviaition was easy on the violet and beautifully balanced. Thank you all at Schofields. You made for a wonderful night for us both.

From walk up with a friendly welcoming entrance that engaged, to making me and my brother contact the bar. The mixologist was vibrant and chatty along with a professional and theatre in crafting elegant stables but also their own creation such as the envoy that was designed in house and has layers of complexity- if you live a fig give it a go- it’s a sipper! Great atmosphere and sophisticated , a drop in bar that will captivate you to come back time and time again. Thanks very much

One of my favourite places to visit thanks to the welcoming staff, amazing drinks and delicious food. The Bloody Mary tartare being one of my favourite dishes. Plus the fact you can normally hear Kentucky Rain by Elvis on the playlist always add a bonus!

Can be annoyingly difficult to get a table. And it's not cheap. But the drinks are excellent, service is always very good. Their sister bar Stirling has more seats/better chance of a table but Schofield's original site is my favourite.

A very classy cocktail bar in the heart of Manchester. Service was absolutely top notch and very helpful. The menu and their style definitely leans toward your classic cocktails and styles, but they execute everything well.

Incredible cocktails and great atmosphere. We started with a couple of cocktails from the menu and then the staff were able to take a few tastes and styles that we like to bring us to outstanding off menu cocktails. Will definitely be going back!

Perfect cocktails in a brilliant atmosphere

Cocktails are mega don’t get me wrong, service good but accommodating customers could be looked into which would leave a better experience.

This space is gorgeous. Art deco inspired, low lighting, sultry mood, low tables. Service was impeccable: charming, friendly & helpful. The music was spot on (lots of Mancunian bands). As you may know, it is rated as one of the top 100 bars in the world (it fully derserves it). Even the doorman was welcoming. Our drinks were delicious (one was an old school dark & stormy). Everyone really appeared to be enjoying themselves (but please refrain from singing in the future). Some places that are highly rated do not live up to the hype. But full marks to this outstanding cocktail lounge.

Amazing place, well worth a visit

I sparingly say that some places are annoyingly good as somebody that runs a bar. This is one of them! We had to wait a short period before being let in but this could only be a good thing. The staff were super nice and clearly having fun. The joint was classy without at all being pretentious which is what I thought it could be originally. The music was a brilliant choice, some throwback hits in there. It’s exactly our kind of night. The cocktails were incredible too. We didn’t sample one that we didn’t like! I finished the night with an old fashioned and it was absolutely perfect. Easily one of if not the best I’ve had. We also got to try one of their coffee tequila shots in house which was a nice touch and super tasty. I would recommend the Mama Flo! Thanks for a great night guys

Best bar so far I’ve been in uk. Amazing chill atmosphere with the best cocktails in town, high standard and friendly service. You should go there and try Irish coffee for sure one of the best fine and classic cocktail.

Best bar I've been to in Manchester. Staff is super friendly, attentive and the whole atmosphere is very intimate and magic (there was no big groups) and we really enjoyed our cocktails and the music. Hope to be back soon 😊

Schofields is a place when you first visit you think how have I not been here before. It’s got a brilliant speakeasy vibe, the staff are brilliant and the music is too. Considering it was voted No1 in the UK it’s not pretentious. The cocktails are first class with the best Bloody Mary in Manchester. Love it

Top quality bar in Deansgate. Tucked away from the main road in a preserved old building Schofields offers a great selection of classic cocktails. From the minute you walk up you are attended to at every step with very attentive and chatty staff. Came for a few cocktails and they were incredible. A well worth addition to the cocktail bar scene in Manchester.

Have been coming here the last few weekends, the drinks and service have been consistently stop on. I wouldn't say the prices are high at all, considering it's city centre location.

Tom, Connor and Liza, were amazing for service (0 for food because we didn't eat anything) Liza made some of the best cocktails I've ever had, and Tom & Connor gave the most amazing service. Highly recommend!!!!

Far too easy to miss in the backstreet this cosy bar hides in, even standing outside for the first time I was slightly uncertain it was where I was looking for or was even open however once greeted and lead inside I was immediately at home in the perfectly dark surroundings with pools of disparate light. For the size of the place there were quite a few staff working and I soon realised that this gave everyone a few precious extra seconds to be so essentially personable, to chat through the menu and offer advice. The key thing here is that the cocktails are good. Not about theatrics that cover up sweet and unchallenging long drinks like so many other nearby places but more classic style cocktails that manifest the ingredients with more satisfying detail. The fact that they make two of their own vermouths (which you may buy here too) reveals a further need to satisfy a very particular dimension and I applaud that. The piped music is worthy of a mention too. It hit a very satisfying vibe and apart from it perhaps being about 20% too loud for easy conversation without leaning in to speak it finished the tone to the darkened bar well. A must visit place of a night in Manchester

Managed to get in without booking ahead, and they were super helpful and friendly. Little expensive, but that’s what you’re going in for anyway, and the Schofield’s Revolver blew me away. Probably the best drink I’ve had, like, in ever.

Wonderful cocktails and brilliant staff

We visited this place for the 1st time last night and we absolutely loved it! It’s a very small intimate bar which was so popular, we had to queue to get in, but it was so worth it. The doorman was a joy to chat to while we waited and time soon passed by. Once inside our host was so welcoming he was a pleasure to chat to. In fact all the staff were so friendly they really made our night. We enjoyed delicious cocktails and a cheese/charcuterie sharing plate. We can’t wait to comeback thank you ‘sweetheart’ (a conversation had with our host so hopefully he knows it’s him I’m writing about )! We would highly recommend this bar.

We have now celebrated two anniversaries at Schofield’s and it’s always amazing. The cocktails are absolutely fabulous but nothing outdoes the service. They really take care of you and even provided us complimentary champagne to celebrate. We love this bar and would recommend to anyone looking for amazing cocktails and service in a lovely place!

Visited Schofield’s bar on Saturday for the first time and had a great afternoon. All the staff were friendly and attentive which made the experience what it was. The cocktails and schooner’s of beer were excellent. Well worth a visit!

The bar staff are clearly so knowledgeable with the menu and able to handle multiple tasks at once, and sitting at the bar you feel truly welcome and always looked after. The menu is extensive but there’s no problem making drinks which aren’t listed, and everything is prepared from scratch. The library selection is a neat touch - pairing cocktails for books available to read. Highly rated and for obvious reasons - I’ll be adding to the list of recommendations and will be back soon!

Visited on Sunday evening. The drinks are of course fantastic but the hospitality, service, finesse and friendliness of the staff is the real showstopper. Ambience and atmosphere was spot on too.

Ranked as 1st bar in the UK by Timeout. It took me 3 hours from London to Manchester, just for this bar and......WORTH IT!!! The bartenders are very knowledgeable on cocktails and treated everyone nicely. And the Schofield's Revolver is absolutely amazing! Smokey, bitter, funky, it's exactly what I want! Amazing! Oh, watch out if you are 190+cm, the door is very low, lol

I was very pleasantly surprised by this venue. Very chill, not pretentious atmosphere. The service was great, everyone is very attentive and gives really good recommendations. The cocktails were amazing. It's a rare occasion when I actually like a cocktail but here the ones that I had were perfect for me.

Incredible service right from through from from of house to wait staff and bar staff. We. visited on the evening of Sat July, 20th We enjoyed two incredible drinks and then went to leave to pick up our Uber home. Our Uber cancelled just as we were leaving and we were looking at having to stand outside in the pouring rain. Staff quickly gave us a new seat to wait while our new Uber arrived and brought us a jug of water while we waited. 10 out of 10. 👏

My wife told me to write a review, without complaining they my favourite cocktail is no longer on the menu. This bar was really great, the staff were friendly and attentive. Drinks were great. Occasionally a phantom arm replenished our water. Strongly recommend visiting.

Visited today and so disappointed. The cocktail glasses were half the normal size, very badly presented and super expensive. Seats were crammed in, felt almost on next persons lap. Absolutely nothing to like, oh and on top of that they charged us 12.5% service charge!

A beautiful building and the best of service. I had heard many good things about Schofields, after receiving some sad news I thought it appropriate to finally see for myself. I was served by Lisa and Rachel, I can’t express the care and attention I felt when there. I nearly cried after leaving. Thank you so much both.

I recently visited Schofields and was very impressed. The service was classy and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The drinks were well-made, fairly priced and the bar person offered a decent recommendation as they didn’t stock my favourite wine. The ambience was stylish and comfortable because the door staff check if there are seats if you want to go in, makes a huge difference as it wasn't overcrowded. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy quality drinks and excellent service.

Lovely ambience and great service. The menu was mainly classics, but they were all well done. It would have been nice to have a more unique menu, but what they do, they do well. Prices are quite high.

The place is very nice and Lisa makes excellent cocktails and makes you feel at home (she deserves a full 5 stars). 2 stars as the bouncer and the lady outside pretended the place was busy and asked me to wait 30 mins when inside the majority of the seats were empty. They let me in early in the end, but it made for a really poor experience for a place that presents itself as a unique exclusive experience in Manchester. As a solo traveller I've never had a similar treatment in similar places (top 50/100 bars of the world).

After an awful experience at Sexy Fish i thought we would check out the Hype…. and YES it’s as good as its reputation. Doorman went above and beyond got us two great seats. Jonathan our Server looked after us extremely well as it was my daughters Birthday. The atmosphere was excellent and we enjoyed every moment of our time there. I would highly recommend !!!!

Lovely bar, we don’t usually get out much with having children and I’m glad we chose this bar to go. The waiting staff were amazing some of the best customer service I’ve seen. The drinks were great top tier cocktails. Thank you for a great day out!

We called here after our waiter at The Lowry hotel recommended the place to us. It was around 11pm and there was a small queue outside. We were told that if we came back in 45 minutes or so we would be ok to go in. After a drink elsewhere we came back only to be told, sorry we are full. Not very professional front of house at all. To say this place only takes a small amount of bookings it seems to be a bit of a lottery for you to go for a night out there.

Really lovely cocktail bar. Welcoming and attentive staff and a great end to an evening out. The lighting takes a bit of adjusting to but love that it isn't packed out, has a great atmosphere, good music and well worth the money spent on the delicious cocktails served by friendly staff.

Went in for a particular drink not saying coz I want it to be a secret the staff know what it is we were a walk in 60th birthday a treat it was what I wanted and more sorry can’t divulge more but if you have a drink in mind try here the place is awesome 🤷🏻‍♂️

A superb, cosy cocktail bar. I have never met such friendly service from all the staff. The cocktails were executed with precision and were delicious. We discovered a 'painkiller' which was simply amazing. Tom was our host and was super friendly, even escorting us to our dinner venue at the Blues Kitchen. We can't wait to go again.

Really friendly place, very insightful staff and friendly. Happy to help and recommend good drinks. They don't harass but don't leave you alone. Would come here often. Very nice night 10/10 playlist at the right volume as well. Not rated on food as didn't eat.

5 stars is not enough for this place. The drinks, the service, the music, the atmosphere! I found it randomly searching for a cocktail bar and after a couple of drink I new it was my favourite bar in the UK! Afterward I realised it already has a best UK bar award. Amazing vibes, friendly people and you feel happy the moment you step into Schofield’s. I like rum and sweet drinks, so it was an “El presidente” for me and was the best I’ve ever had.

I love a dirty martini. It’s my go to drink. And so was very excited to go to a proper cocktail bar to have one (since moving from London to Manchester). Worst dirty martini I’ve ever had. They used oil based olives!!!! And poured the oil into the martini rather than using a vinegar based brine. Honestly disgusting. Very disappointed. How do you call yourself a cocktail bar when you can’t make a dirty martini? Seemed like everyone was enjoying the fruity made up cocktails. One of the staff I found rude the rest was lovely. Atmosphere was okay but just feels very sad and try-hard when you realise they aren’t good at making a classic cocktail.
