Great music, great people, great food, what can I say...

What better way to have my last "working" lunch as I set off into retirement, Northern Soul classic sour dough with chips listening to Northern Soul classics.

This was so good the Mac and cheese was unbelievably good definitely recommend

Absolutely delicious! Good selection of dishes. They were busy and we were asked to wait, but this wasn't more than a few minutes. Staff very efficient. The wait was well worth it! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and a satisfying meal! Highly recommend!

Been visiting ever since this was a pop up with queues round the block on Church St, and it never fails to deliver. Food is always high quality with a regularly rotating menu, today’s visit being the Christmas menu so I went for the Brie Wish You a Merry Christmas which was outstanding and as cheesy as you’d expect!

Great place to grab lunch. Food was amazing today. We had the pork belly which was incredible. The sandwiches were full and very tasty too. Highly recommend!

Genuinely outstanding, really love this place. Sad to see the back of the frickles but having heard the reasoning I totally get it. Still hoping they return though! Had the Mac attack and my good friend had the fairytale of new york. Both were outstanding! I did add jalapenos to my Mac attack though 🤣 Service was a 10, atmosphere the same, food is just superb and no, it's not "just" grilled cheese.

Came here over the weekend for some hearty food after raving at WHP and it didn’t disappoint! The service was excellent - all the staff were really welcoming and friendly. The chorizo ho-ho sandwich which I ordered was superb and definitely left me feeling satisfied! Would definitely come here again!

I’ve nipped into here a few times over the years. I was served by a lovely gent called Dan. The service was second to none. Such a chill relaxed atmosphere and all the staff are fab. I cannot recommend this place enough. Over the years the sandwich’s have changed but staff have always been friendly and inviting. If you a chance over the Xmas period try the chance try there chrimbo sandwich, mini roast on a toastie! DELISH!

When I say this place serves the BEST Mac and cheese I have ever had ! I truly mean it, the service was great and didn’t have to wait too long for a table. 5 stars would happily eat again ✨

Great cheese toasties and I really like the decoration as well. people working there are really respectful and nice specially the guy with beards and the girl with piercings were so friendly. We arrived a little bit early and they were not ready yet but they welcomed us and try to make our orders ready so fast. I highly recommend try soul but the tuna melt was also amazing.

Northern Soul music and Grilled cheese sandwiches, what's not to love? The chilli cheese sandwich was absolutely delicious, the BLT was divine and the cheesy bacon fries were lush. I live in Scarborough and it's always a pleasure to visit here. Def a must

service was incredible. the food was brilliant, me and my partner actually travelled from Loughborough just to come here because we had seen a just eat advert for it last year ! it was well worth the wait.

Came across this place online when looking for dog friendly venues. Food was delicious. I also loved that they served the toasties and Mac and cheese just at the right temperature there’s no blowing on food, burning your mouth. The surrounding area and street does need abit of a clean up though but I would definitely order delivery when in the city again

atmosphere was great, good music, nice staff my mum ordered the buffalo wings and they came pink with the red ligaments in, was told they do temperature check the food and that it was cooked but it was literally still visibly pink, thankfully we got a refund which was much appreciated. BLT was so good otherwise X

Absolutely amazing, good portion sizes for the price and super delicious. All the servers are friendly and polite. Its very cosy with good music too :)))

Just great food! Stopped in for dinner - had grilled cheese, pork belly bites and Mac n cheese. Everything was amazing, but particularly recommend the pork belly. Service was great, really friendly and quick.

Best Pastrami sandwich. They had before steak toast which is no more available. Nice sandwich. Recommended.

As soon as we walked in the door to this place a member of staff quite literally shouted in our faces that there are no tables available before we had even spoken. We have been here before and the food has always been great but this man was extremely rude to us and we certainly won’t be coming back.

Food here is amazing! We've had mac and cheese and grilled cheese sandwich and it was so good. People working there were also very nice and gave us some recommendations as we were there the first time.

Absolutely love this place. Food is delicious a d good value. Servers are friendly and welcoming. Only negative I'd say is that the bathrooms need some work.

BRING BACK THE PREVIOUS MENU! The new menu is terrible. You had the best Yangnyeom style Korean chicken around imo (Korean red). Now it's gone. Couldn't even leave us with the sauce, now give a miniscule amount with a massive pot of terrible mayo, and you can't order extra. The item should be chicken tenders with mayo (everyone's favourite, not). No wonder you tack the Sticky Korean name on there, no one would buy it otherwise. Everything is now inferior. Changed things that didn't need changing. Got rid of bacon, but add more expensive pork belly!? Which betrays that it wasn't for cost, someone just decided they'd ruin the place and that's a shame.

came here to eat with my sister for the first time and the sandwiches are amazing, the new york and the mac and cheese are absolutely amazing, i was so full i thought i was pregnant but it was so worth it, beautiful girls, nice guys, amazing milkshake, and the music was just🤌🏾. will definitely turn into a regular because that was too good.

This was lunch on Sunday before going home if you like a cheese toasties or mac and cheese you need to go here we all had a mac and cheese toasted cheese sandwich daughter had it plain wife had onion chutney I had chorizo daughter also had chicken tenders and we had house fries to share. I like a toastie this was next level mac and cheese is often made with overcooked pasta not this it was perfect cheese sauce was a perfect consistency and was really flavourful without being overpowering like hot cheese either in bread or with macaroni or both come here the te Dersingham were good as were the chips

We came down to Manchester for a long weekend from Scotland in celebration of our first anniversary & the sole reason we chose to come was this restaurant. My partner had seen an advert for it on Just Eat & was adamant we had to visit & my god did you guys deliver. We absolutely adored our meal, it was absolutely amazing & our service was just as good. I can’t remember clearly but I think our server was Dan? But anyway he was great & super quick with everything! We would thoroughly recommend visiting here if you’re ever in the vicinity!

Very personal service considering how busy they were. Kind enough to make a bespoke milkshake. I'd say more cheese on the toasie, but wasn't expensive, but WAS tasty!

Amazing grilled cheese, sounds silly saying that, bur grilled cheese isnt just grilled cheese. This is on another planet. The Jupiter of grilled cheese, the sun infact. Loaded fries are amazing, had the chicken loaded fries and some of my other half's mac and cheese which was also 10/10

Lizzie was great. Nice friendly service also very knowledgeable of the menu and last but not least the grilled cheese was the absolute taste fest.

Nice resturant to go into and the food was very goood considering the price. Not a bit fan of the staff there however, not so energetic and gave me a weird look when I kindly asked for extra sauce...

Wow wow wow. Ich glaube das war mein Highlight der Reise. Ich liebe Käse und da kam der Laden gerade richtig! Es ist sooo lecker und jedes Sandwich zieht lange Käsefäden. Geschmacklich top, Ambiente top, freundliche Menschen und stets der leckere Duft nach Käse. Ich habe mein Herz ein Stückweit dort verloren und eventuell waren wir auch nicht nur eine mal da 👉🏻👈🏻. Wäre jederzeit für eine Kooperation offen-haha😂

As good as ever, Northern Soul never disappoints. So glad I took my visiting friends who seemed to be thrilled with their meal. A shout out to Dave, too - very efficient and friendly.

Great experience. Top quality food and extremely friendly staff. The server David in particular was a class act and went the extra mile to make my elderly Dad comfy. He was smiling all the way back to Glasgow after the lunch.

Excellent food and service, very friendly staff. The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is that the menu misses things off of their sandwiches. I ordered the buffalo chicken grilled cheese, and I requested no ranch slaw on it as my partner has a serious repulsion (not allergy) to anything containing mayonnaise, so I thought that I managed to avoid it. However when the sandwich arrived, after taking a couple of bites I noticed that it had garlic mayonnaise on it which is not listed on the components of the sandwich. Had I known that I would’ve also requested that without, and I would like to know exactly what I’m eating when I order it. Other than that I had no issue and the food was delicious.

10/10 food, 10/10 service. It was super busy so worried how long the wait might be, less than 15 mins our food arrived! Huge portion. We ordered a side of chips and could hardly touch them because we were so full from the sandwiches! We went here a few years ago and glad to see the food is still top standard. We paid £31 total. Worth it.

I love this place so much. Just hoped there was one closer to where we live. The manager is amazing. We landed from a delayed flight and we’re crazing grilled cheese. We arrived 5 minutes before closing time and explained that we have been trying to phone them but received no answer. Manager chose to serve us rather than send us away. Forever greatfull as the flight was horrible and made our day better.

Popped in today for some lunch and it was absolutely amazing! The red headed waitress was super helpful and is a real credit to the business, I think her name was Kasia.

Great food and really good value. Milk shakes were amazing and huge for the price. Staff were lovely and friendly. Food was delicious 😋 Not wheelchair accessible though.

I wanted to ask about allergens and safety before ordering on deliveroo and must have been calling the phone for about half an hour but no one answered! After reading some of the reviews on here I'm really not so surprised :(

A simply delicious cheese sandwich. Super quick, great and friendly service. Top Northern Soul tunes. Clean. We stopped mid afternoon but the breakfast menu looked superb.

We visited here on Friday 2nd of August. I ordered the chicken tenders with sticky peanut & my husband had the mac attack and added steak (we had the ranch fries to share) Food was amazing & we will definitely be back the next time we’re in Manchester. Could not fault anything with both the food & the staff.

Northern Soul Grilled Cheese is always high on the list when I come in to town. I had the famous Mac Attack made with homemade Mac ‘n’ Cheese, with added fried chicken. It was great. Thanks to Dan for such a warm welcome! Keep up the great work !!

I visited on Friday 2nd August and had a wonderful experience! I ordered the classic cheese toastie, tater tots and a strawberry lemonade - food was unreal! Toastie was amazing and the tater tots were moreish! We were served by the lovely Tasha who was fab! Loved the vibe inside, will definitely be returning! :)

Absolutely love this place, the atmosphere, the staff, but mostly the excellent food and drinks. Their filling grilled cheese classics are hearty and delicious. Have been following these guys on Instagram from their days in the little stall outside the coop. Was walking past the site in the Northern Quarter and thought today is the day to pop in. The cheesy gooey hit the spot. Plus the staff were a delight. I spotted the stickers they had and asked if it would be possible to purchase one. They kindly just gave me one. I know it's just a sticker but it made me feel like a kiddy getting a treat.

Had the Philly cheese best sandwich I've ever had I've been all over America and had similar ones but this one was by far the best the bread was perfect cheese was really really nice steak juicy really fresh unlike most places where it's bought in frozen etc good job chef place is really nice and vibes are great clean place nice staff don't drink alcohol so had coke bit expensive but due to the rise of cost it's understandable staff need to get paid 🤘but worth every penny owners uve done a cracking job for your fellow mancs 👍

northern soul grilled cheese seems to think it's acceptable to charge £3 for bottles of still water outside the etihad stadium.
