Scarpetta in City of London, Westminster

I recently visited scarpetta in London, and unfortunately, it fell far short of my expectations. I was really looking forward to the meal, but the pasta was a big letdown, it was so dry and cold. When I saw back to see the chef it was an Indian university students– the food lacking flavor and freshness. The cocktails also missed the mark; they didn’t have the quality or taste I was hoping for. The service was great, which I do appreciate, but overall, it was a disappointing experience. I’d rate my visit 3/10.

Not worth 10£ overcooked and cold

Delicious food, wonderful service + lovely staff

Arrived at 12 noon. Food service was quick, and whilst tasty it was very cold. Drink turned up at the table after I'd eaten my meal. It wasn't busy so not sure why it took so long to make a cup of tea. Halfway through the meal, music was put on at full blast causing me and other tables to vacate the restaurant as soon as I'd eaten. The option to stay longer for dessert diminished immediately.

Nice little Italian down a back street, friendly service if a bit slow. Well made pasta, great flavours, portions on the small side. Nutella gnocchi a highlight

Scarpetta Italian Restaurant in London is actually awesome! I loved their pasta, especially the beef shin ragu pappardelle—it was amazing and so tasty. The only downside is that the portions are a bit small, but the food is delicious.

Mariana served us and she was so good, it is rare to be served by someone so attentive and friendly! To be honest made the whole meal for us, she recommended us a dessert which was so good! Thanks Mariana

Sub-par overpriced pasta with bad consistency and lack of variety to choose from. Don’t recommend.

A nice little pasta place. They have a couple of vegan options - but only tomato based. I tried the aubergine and mushroom pasta which was pretty nice. The pasta itself is extremely al dente - nice but not for everyone. The restaurant has a nice vibe and the staff were friendly.

We had a delicious meal and would recommend everything we tried! Definitely add the burrata if you have the option. We ordered beef shin ragu, bucatini arrabbiata (spicy) and Nutella gnocchi

This seems like a popular place to pick up lunch given how busy it is. At the counter you can choose from a selection of different pastas that are clearly freshly made as occasionally you have to briefly wait while a new batch appears. The pasta choices are good though and a pro tip is that if you go for a large size you can mix two different pastas together. As for the food it's pretty tasty and quite filling. It would probably be more interesting eating in as then you'll have salad and bread and suchlike but the takeaway option is decent.

A large portion of pasta with burrata cheese is £14! They don’t tell you how much would that lump of cheese will cost before putting it on. They just ask if you want it, obviously you can’t really imagine a bog standard lunch pasta would cost FOURTEEN POUNDS before you agreeing to get a piece of cheese. Daylight robbery!

We've been to Scarpetta a couple of times now because the food and service is great. Reasonably priced but so fresh and full of flavour. Both times our waiter has been Natasha and she's excellent - so warm and made us feel so welcome. Thank you!

The pasta dish with Nduja was great! I have to thank the waitress Mariana for her service and for the help to satisfy our requests.

Awful experience. Went for my birthday as a vegetarian. Most Italian food isn’t vegetarian due to Parmesan but I checked which one I could have and was told I could have 3 of the pastas. However this wasn’t true. When I said that I couldn’t have that one she changed her mind as to what was vegetarian. Completely clueless but could’ve easily checked with a manager or someone more knowledgeable. Ended up leaving despite having nowhere else to go, due to her rudeness as she was rolling her eyes at us and talking about how annoying it was to her colleagues. Definitely do not come here if you have allergies or dietary requirements as you will be told you can eat things that you can’t! I don’t usually review or walk out of restaurants but I felt very uncomfortable

Absolute melt in your mouth food & melt your ❤️ food. Tasted gorgeous & all freshly cooked. I am very fussy when it comes to food but this was absolutely fabulous - Great hard working and attentive kind staff too always on hand. Bravo! X P.S - Made with Love!!! X

Had a lovely time here, Natasha was an absolute natural and super welcoming. Food was delicious! The restaurant had a relaxed feel which made for a nice experience.

Just an excellent experience in every respect. Fresh pasta, authentic sauces, fresh foccacia, arancini and Nutella gnocchi. An interesting range of wines and at a reasonable price. Staff and service were great. All this within a short walk from Liverpool Street Station. Highly recommended based on this lovely evening. Thank you Scarpetta.

Central location with lovely food.

Food (stuffed pasta) was chewy. Menu pretty much pasta only. Waitress lovely but undertrained. Large air conditioning vent above our table was intrusive. Decor bland/drear. And very expensive, for what it was. This is the first review under three stars I've ever given.

Amazing price and exceptional service. Natasha was attentive without being disruptive and was so lovely I couldn’t recommend this restaurant any more. Also really good prices for central London!

Came here for dinner with friends, was served by Natasha. She made the experience so worth it the food she suggested top notch too. Definitely recommend this place for a chill dinner with friends and you wouldnt be disappointed by the service.

Came here for my anniversary meal. The pasta was very tasty and the service was amazing. Was served by a woman who said it was their first week working there, but her service was of the highest quality. Thank you for making it a great anniversary meal.

Very limited menu if you are diabetic and avoiding carbs or if you need to avoid wheat. Service was not great and totally inflexible.

Amazing customer service. I've ben there twice, and I've been served from a manager, blonde lady. Both times, great smile and very professional. She recommends some pastas and a chocolate cake. I'll be back again for sure.

Expensive for what it is. Paid £50 for two mains, a shared focaccia and a drink. Plus, compulsory service charge (service was alright not amazing) and a £1.99 charge to pay the bill from your table! Food however was very nice.

Nice, simple pasta dishes, bit pricey though

LOCATION: The resturant is a bit difficult to find if you are looking at google map, the resturant is not on the main street as Google map suggested, you need to come to the small alley way off the main street. FOOD: You can tell the pasta is freshly made, it tastes amazing. Scarpetta is a small place, a fast food vibe, and a decent price. Would definitely recommend it.

Great food but bill came out with still water charge and we received tap water. Had to push to get it removed. Also please don't force your customers to pay through an app and then also pay for the privilege.

The indoor and outdoor seating here is really beautiful and the staff are very friendly! They have an allergy menu so it’s accessible for people with allergies. The food here is average, though, but it’s still worth visiting because of the atmosphere. Their drinks selection is very extensive and good!

The pasta was very good. Service was very slow and the venue was not even half full.

The Tonnarelli 'Nduja & Sausage pasta is one of the most delicious dishes I have eaten in my life. The Nutella Gnocchi were also spectacular. The service was exceptional. Will come back soon!

Charged £4 for water, unaware it wasn’t tap water. My boyfriends pappardelle was salty but he didn’t want to send it back and make a scene, made waitress aware and she said we should have told her sooner, which in hindsight is right. But also doesn’t give option to remove “discretionary” service charge upon paying so I just paid it. The booking was for his birthday which I made a note of when booking online.

Not good experience unfortunately! Came here for dinner on a Thursday evening. We ordered two starters: bruschetta with Nduja and burrata (good) and arrosticini (very dry and overpriced). As main we took zucchini and gamberi pasta + arrabbiata bucatini. Although picture looks good, again here pasta was without flavour and borderline uncooked (I would not define that pasta “al dente”). Service was average, cook had to ring bell with our food 4 times before it being picked up. Bill was ok for city prices, but food quality not there…

Loud, expensive, small portions on small plates on tiny tables. Avoid.

Nice meal, reasonably priced. Food was quite tasty indeed. Wine was not chilled enough but everything else was fine. Great chocolate cake.

Undercooked pasta, small portion, high price tag, very loud music. Can’t believe I just paid £8.95 for what seems to be the worst pasta dish I have ever had. On a positive note: nice premises and lovely staff.

Enjoyed the pasta, but the wine by the glass (Montepulcano) was absolutely awful, while it should not have been so bad according to Vivino - probably they store it wrongly while uncorked. I've ordered espresso and tiramisu, and the cake was forgotten, but at all least not charged.

Generous portion of very good chicken + veggies on the side for just under £9. Less than 5 minutes from door to table with full plate in front of your nose. Kind staff. Excellent.

Have been to Scarpetta a number of times and it does not disappoint. Seating is limited so would recommend booking. Tried a new starter for a change (mussels) which were nice but a little dry. I had the prawn pasta for main which I cant fault- tasted very fresh and was a good sized portion. I will definitely be returning

I got the lunch tray with my colleague and the box looks small but its actually very filling. For 9.95 you get grains, topped with protein (grilled chicken or vegetarian option) and two sides. I got sweet potato and roasted aubergine. They change everyday. A healthy, nutrition packed lunch!

Used to be a reliable go to for the quality pasta and reasonable prices. But recently the pasta is dry owing to too little sauce, and the prices have rocketed. Now over a tenner for a regular sized box of pasta. A real pity.

How can you serve up raw pasta, not al dente raw! Dough white chewy pasta shameful!

Server was patronising. I asked for gluten free options and she smirked and said we don’t do GF options. Even though the menus outside says they have GF options…

Nice flavour to the Cacio e pepe, but the pasta was just a bit too Al dente. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute more and it would have been perfect. Such a shame. They do a good happy hour deal. £5 for a glass of house wine 5-7pm.

Not only Scarpetta's served us the best meal we had in London, it is honestly the best Italian food we ever tasted. Reasonably priced for the delicious meals and drinks; plus our waitress was the best. A must if you are a foodie.....

They used to be better. Before lockdown they provider the option for wholewheat for all pastas but now only one can be wholewheat. Don't think I will be coming anymore

The best fast place to go for a quick bites for lunch. They have limited menu but with variety of choices to choose from. The taste was excellent and you can choose either a single item from the menu or opt for the popular lunch box.

I’m on a backpacking holiday, starting in London and my friend recommended this restaurant from yelp.The service was really nice, attentive and friendly. The food was great. Very fresh pasta and good drinks.

The staff were nice and welcoming and very attentive. Pasta was good and the starters as well, the bill came up to £55 which is a bit pricey considering its just pasta! Not sure if I would come back again tbh.

Pasta was cooked well but sauce was way to salty. Considering the name of the place you'd expect bread with the obscene amount of sauce but not unless you pay. It was alright but I'd rather spend a bit more and go to eataly up the road.

Taer took very good care of us. He suggested the gnocchi dessert which was the best out of all the ones we tried. 10/10 would recommend. You heard it here first. Tell your friends.

Went here for dinner, the pasta itself was nice enough but the mushroom sauce was overall a bit stodgy. Bill came to about £50 for 2 dishes, a side and one non alcoholic drink which I felt was a bit expensive for what it was. Service was good.

Been here in the weekend whit my girlfriend. The place was very busy but Sara was super nice and helpfull. She help whit the dietary requirements (vegan) of my girlfriend. Overall a great night and great food. Will be back for sure

Tasty al dente sausage pasta and flourless chocolate cake. Friendly staff. But this is a fast food cafe not a restaurant experience - cramped tables, cheap hard chairs (window seats are literally a plank of wood) and it was freezing in there. A few people were sitting in coats. We left as quickly as we could. Reply to restaurant: I simply reported the facts. Treat feedback as a gift which enables you to improve your appeal, rather than viewing it as a negative.

I had high hopes for this restaurant having read the reviews. However, we did not enjoy the food at all! The starters were fairly nice but the pasta was undercooked, (not al dente!), and was unpleasant to eat. There wasn’t much flavour either, which made the dinner a chore to finish. The two people sitting next to us also commented on the pasta being undercooked and they also had the beef. Personally wouldn’t recommend as you can find more tastier pasta dishes elsewhere!

I had a very special Valentines night at Scarpetta Bishopsgate. Super friendly and polite staff and authentic Italian food. Would recommend to everyone.

We had the most attentive person taking care of us, from seating us as we both arrived, to explaining the menus and happy hour to us. The food from the happy hour menu was delicious, can't recommend enough. My friend has the anrancini balls with truffle and I had the bruschetta with rustic tomatoes. Both amazing. I tasted one of the arancini balls and they were so fresh and light. We both had the same pasta which was spicy burrata. Oh wow. Honestly, I wish I had space for it all. The cocktails too were delicious! Our bill was around £70 which for that area of London and the food and drink we enjoyed, is great value. Highly recommend.

overhyped takeaway pasta. what you're paying for is basically dry pasta with baaarely any sauce - skimping on ingredients for the basic pasta. coco di mama is so much tastier and they actually put sauce on the pasta. utterly bland and devoid of flavour. only worthy of an extra star as the sides are not bad. if you want good hand made pasta, eataly is your best bet.

Experience was okay. A bit tight inside & rather loud to have normal conversations. The truffle arancini and bruschetta was nice but the mains - beef shin ragu and pesto gnocchi were on the salty side. One of the best things was the happy hour and cocktails were tasty. Alright visit but wouldn’t visit again.
