Lovely little Italian restaurant in an amazing location. It was bright with full length windows to fully utilise the beautiful scenery of Leadenhall market. Service was prompt and polite without intimidating. Menu looked really good with lots of options. We both went for the seafood dishes; one seabass and one salmon with prawns etc and both dishes were very tasty. The atmosphere was quiet enough to have a chat unlike some places where it can be too noisy. It is up a steep set of stairs but nothing to dangerous unless you've had a few glasses of wine :).

Fantastic food and service as always. I have been a customer since the owners had a quaint coffee/deli in Leadenhal market before this reaturant. Lovely setting overlooking Lloyd's of London. Light and airy unlike alot of city establishments. Knowlegable staff and fresh food. Would hesitate in recommending.

A really nice, intimate restaurant but you also get the buzz of Leadenhall market which is great. The food was delicious - have no criticism whatsoever. It’s not cheap but I was happy to pay the higher prices for a place this great

Once you've navigated the stairs :-) a really lovely ambience with authentic Italian food. I had the Tortellini with Truffle - very delicious.

Gem of a restaurant in Leadenhall Market. A little difficult to spot the entrance intially, but once you climb the rather steep, narrow staircase, the restaurant is welcoming and cosy. Staff are so friendly and the food is ridiculously good. Carpaccio di Manzo and Tortelloni are to die for. Nice selection of very good wines. Food menu is not huge, but is very much a case of 'less is more'. Will certainly go back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Osteria del Mercato in central London is a real hidden gem! The welcoming, rustic atmosphere makes you feel like you're really in an Italian osteria. The food is exceptional, full of authentic flavors that transport you straight to Italy, with lo strictly Neapolitan chef, the service is impeccable, the staff is friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back to enjoy the delicacies of this place again, congratulations to all of you!!!

My teenaged son and I were warmly welcomed by the hostess and wait staff. We enjoyed a very pleasant meal at this cozy spot above and overlooking the market. We very much enjoyed our starters (tuna and steak carpaccio) and our mains (lamb and tuna). This Osteria has an authentic, family vibe, and our meals were on par with those we've previously enjoyed in Italy!

I took 4 people from a client company for dinner. The food was authentically Italian and the wine was perfectly aligned. Both were delicious.

I loved this place! The food was amazing, in particular the ragu alla napoletana was to die for. Everything was perfect, food, wine, service and place. The decor is lovely, a great mix of colourful, modern and classic. Can't wait to be back and try all other dishes on the menu! Special thanks to the great staff :)

Went for lunch today. Lovely little restaurant. 4 of us. 2 had pasta, 1 salmon & I had the seabass, which was absolutely delicious. Everyone enjoyed the food. Light tasty desserts too. Nice ambience. Staff friendly & attentive. Highly recommend.

Situated above Leadenhall market. Service was super friendly and attentive. On Tuesday’s they have 30% off bill which I think is pretty awesome, we paid £50pp for wine, starter, main and dessert! We were sitting near the window overlooking Leadenhall market which was quite nice.

Lovely environment, friendly staff and fantastic food.

Not for the first time, headed here for a business lunch, however our attempts to hear each other were thwarted by the shockingly bad acoustics. When busy, it is nearly impossible to hear each other as there are no soft furnishings and the noise simply bounces around. A great shame as the food and service are good, Easily rectified with some wall hangings, however the proprietor has neglected previous requests to do something about it. Sadly cannot recommend if you want to have a conversation.

Enjoyed a meal with friends. Food was excellent. Service was good, only caveat that we booked at a time (1930) when it was v busy and it took a few minutes before we got attention after being seated. After that things were great

Fabulous. Food spectacular, service wonderful. Walked up some very steep steps and entered a room that didn't look special but very comfy. Tableware was anthropology and very funky. Looked out over the market and just took the whole experience in. We cannot wait to go back.

Booked a table for 4 people for early dinner. Called in advanced before booking to check if they were dog friendly. Lady on the phone confirmed that they were dog friendly & asked how big the dog was & I confirmed it was a small dog. When our party got to the restaurant & told them our reservation, the lady at the door abruptly told me that we never told them that there was going to be a dog. I calmly proceeded to tell her that I had called twice to confirm if they were dog friendly & also mentioned as well, in which they confirmed when they took the booking that there would be a small dog with us. Another waitress at the door, then confirmed she had heard that there was a dog & the lady then seemed a bit put out with the response & told us to wait & moved some tables around in an otherwise empty restaurant (there was one other table seated at the time). From the reviews, I thought the food was going to be excellent, however the linguini vongole I ordered was mediocre & the pasta tasted store-bought & dry (my expectations from the reviews were that everything was freshly made). The bottarga that was sprinkled on the pasta had hardly any flavour & the clams didn't taste very fresh & were dry like they had been pre-cooked & re-heated. The only thing that was alright was my starter which was the beef carpaccio, but nothing to write home about. We stayed for dessert & the tiramisu was a good size, but was a little cloying at the end. The service was okay, but didn't feel warm or welcoming. The lady that commented on the dog was also our waitress & seemed like she was quite put out that we were there. I had a bowl of pasta, but they failed to provide me with a spoon & left me with a fork & knife which had already been at the table when we sat down. Maybe there are better days, but from my experience, probably wouldn't visit again. The area & the location of the restaurant is nice, however if you're going for food, there's much better Italian restaurants out there.

Very nice restaurant with a cozy decoration. The staff made us feel very comfortable throughout the dinner, always pending on our requests and helping us to choose. The food was delicious, right on the cooking point and the presentation was flawless. A really good value for money. I'll definitively come back.

Semplicemente deliziosa. Accogliente, posizionata al primo piano dell’elegante Leadenhall Market ha pochi tavoli immersi in un ambiente caldo e riservato. Ottima la cucina. Serio il menu con le sue essenziali proposte: pochi piatti ma di una cura e bontà indiscutibili. Dal pane fatto in casa alla freschissima frittura di calamari e gamberi. Spaghetti vongole e bottarga strepitosi. Il carpaccio di manzo eccellente. E per finire il dolce: tiramisù o il tortino alla ricotta delicati, non zuccherosi e squisiti. Personale italiano, accogliente cortese, professionale. Insomma ottima location per tutte le occasioni. Ecco un ottimo Ristorante italiano!

Very enjoyable experience! Visited for my partner's birthday on the 16th of August. I'd emailed a few days before to ask that the staff could add a candle to my partner's tiramisu (I knew she'd go for that!) They remembered and the lady very discreetly caught my eye to get the okay since I'd said my partner was a bit shy. Both meals were excellent, tasted great and well presented.The staff were attentive and friendly throughout, and the restaurant itself was lovely and intimate, above the shops in Leadenhall Market providing a great view of the street below. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable, intimate dining experience in the city area. George.

Fantastic restaurant hidden away in leadenhall market. Food was prepared to such a high standard and tasted fresh. Ordered the baby octopus for starters which was delicious. The portion size was good and they were very generous with the octopus. This came in a tomato sauce which was spiced perfectly. For my main, I ordered the monkfish with asparagus and again, this was cooked really well. I will definitely be returning

Excellent little restaurant overlooking a packed Leadenhall market. Up a steep set of stairs into a darling room with great lighting, funky crockery and jazz playing in the background. Smallish menu and the food doesn't disappoint. The ragu beef with shin cuts that melted in your mouth washed down with a nicely chilled Pinot. Carpaccio of beef to start finished off with a super frothy cappuccino. Highly recommend, a place where you can enjoy conversation, good food in an intimate atmosphere. Super service, not rushed.

Absolutely perfect quick lunch. Pasta and wine were both amazing and not too expensive either. Would definitely recommend and I will be returning.

Be prepared for narrow and steep stairs but once you get in, a spacious dining area. The pasta isn't home made but saved by the sauces and friendly service. Lush homemade chilli/onion sauce that came with the calamari.

My wife and I visited on a November Thursday afternoon around 2pm. The staff was very busy which may have caused minor delays. If you are not patient or understanding and are in a rush, maybe not the best option. With that said, we were not there much more than an hour and it was a comfortable pace. The staff was so friendly and very accommodating. The food was very good too. I would definitely recommend if you are in the area and looking for a great Italian meal.

The food was amazing, but also the staff was very accommodating. They treated us so cordially which is not always the case at busy lunch spots. I had the homemade ravioli and it was delish. I highly recommend.

Love this restaurant. Great food and atmosphere. Service always exceptional. I mainly take clients there, who are always impressed but equally a great place for a romantic meal. Very much a hidden gem in the City. You won't be disappointed.

It&#039;s my pleasure to find this excellent restaurant near Lloyd&#039;s.<br />Food was brilliant and staffs were so kind. The space feels a bit cold but it is not a big problem. It&#039;s a bit difficult to find the entrance though interior is tranquil and cozy enough to enjoy the foods with peaceful conversation.

The food is excellent (as are the staff) - particularly the bread which comes with the top notch olives (often its the opposite 'great olives - poor bread!') - slightly bigger tables would be good but as I say, wonderful in all respects.

Lunch was good but the service was slow and you need to pick up the pace when people only have a short window for lunch. I always find it a bit annoying when you have to ask for the bill a number of fines. Steps up and down very steep …. watch the high heels….and for me my knees struggled.

Lovely little dining room tucked away above Leadenhall Market - the stairs up are a little steep, so be careful! Small menu, but the food was tasty and freshly cooked. The service was good, friendly and attentive. Would definitely visit again.

Great place and have been there many time. It always seemed to be a quiet place to get away, unlike several of its competitors locally but today there was a table of 8 ish Who pretty loud and that was disappointing. Food again great, staff great but a few alternatives on fish / meat menu might be well received!! Will be back !!!

Always a good location for a quick or long lunch. Full of insurance types so if you work locally you are almost certain to mee people you know

Very poor experience. Multiple items on menu unavailable. And the worst experience in ordering wine. We ordered 3 different bottles and every time they brought a later year that advertised in menu, a 2013 chianti on menu and they bring a 2018 bottle and have the audacity to say that it tastes the same and then when challenged, offer to reduce £2 of a £40 bottle!!!! <br /><br />Horrible experience and would not recommend anyone to go there. Was embarrassed to take a business guest and will never do it again.

Decent experience and enjoyable - food and menu was better and more varied

The service was really bad. We had to ask for everything like water. Our server didn't come to our table till like 15 min. after we were seated. We asked about a wine special and he didn't know what it was, so he walked away to go check. When he came back he told us, and our friend ordered it, and he just walked away. Didn't ask the rest of us if we wanted anything to drink. We would ask for things like marinara and he would bring something totally different out, so clearly he wasn't listening. Didn't seem to care. Had to ask for more water again. I do not recommend this place at all.

Service was excellent and food enjoyable. The ragu was excellent but the caper and olive sauce with the lemon sole although a little thick was delicious. Thank you for great service. It was a little noisier than expected but it was almost Christmas!

I went to Osteria del Mercato with a friend and we had an amazing time. The food was excellent, the service efficient and the waiters were very helpful. Although located in a busy area, the restaurant is surprisingly quiet and ideal to enjoy a good conversation.

Lovely friendly greeting and well organised. Nice ambience and décor in the restaurant and good selection of food which was delivered promptly without feeling rushed. It got very busy around 1- 1:30 and is clearly very popular (and rightly so). When it got to its busiest, the service wasn&#039;t so good - we never got to order a desert before it was time to leave as the Osteria team were all busy with other tables, but overall the experience was good. The only slight gotcha is the entrance, as it would be useful to have a sign at the top of the basement stairs or a gate or some way of signposting people through the doorway instead. The signage was too subtle and we did wonder what sort of place we&#039;d booked when walking down the stairs, but were pleasantly surprised (and relieved) when we found the correct door.

We were offered water when we arrived and recommended a delicious white wine. We both had the salmon &amp; cod but my guest wanted to change the lentils for courgettes and this was no problem for our waitress. Although the tables seemed close together it wasn&#039;t noisy and on the hottest day of the year the fans and open windows allowed a cooling breeze.

Whilst the food was to a very high standard, the service was incredibly slow - we had 20 minute waits between any visits from the staff, and when other tables were being served, eye contact was avoided so we couldn&#039;t even get their attention.

All was good aaprt from when I asked for fresh mint tea and was told they had no fresh mint but fresh mint appeared on our deserts. Its fresh mint and water. Otherwise a good lunch place staple.

Service was good but everything else disappointed: pasta was bad, pancetta was old over cooked lard, cheese tired, bread basket greasy, and prices way out of line with quality.

I booked this restaurant for an informal business diner. Good quality food and good wines. We did ask for a number of starters to share. Unfortunately one starter was 3 big prawns and it was not possible to up-scale to 4people which is inflexible. aside of that it was a very enjoyable and tasteful evening.

It looked to be a lovely family run type restaurant in the city which it was but they really let themselves down, big time as far as I am concerned. Why ? Why ? Why ? can't a restaurant serve a meal on a HOT plate. The food was lovely, but within a few minutes of it being serve, it was cold.

A hidden gem in Leadenhall Market but the entrance is easily missed unless you know exactly where to look. Really good for an early lunch.

We visited Osteria Del Mercato for lunch and whilst the service was good the food was average, we shared a fried courgette and aubergine starter and the batter was exceptionally thick on the courgette and the aubergine underneath was cold, which may have been intentional but seemed strange. For the main course I had the gnocchi, which unfortunately had small lumps in it, although the tomato sauce it came in was okay. The location is great although be warned the steps up to the restaurant are really steep.
