Scallops Tale in East Dunbartonshire

well well wish i'd found this place a lot earlier I had haddock and chips and probably the best I've ever tasted and believe me i've had a few fist tea's over the years and my friend had the scallops and said the the same best she has tasted in a very long time and can't wait to return

Where to start! The chicken tempura would blow the wig off a bald man, absolutely sensational, chips cooked to perfection, service second to none from Stephen! All in all get the wanes in the motor and make your way here for the best chippy going!

We had a take away from Scallops Tale tonight and it was delicious. Mine was gluten free and it was the best I’ve had in a long time. Amazing quality and the fish was perfect. We will definitely order from here again.

Had the most lovely date night, meal was delicious and atmosphere was perfect. Waitress very well mannered and couldn’t be more helpful. Will def be back here again.

No atmosphere as it was only our table occupied on a sat night! Didn't realise it wasn't licensed (our fault for not noticing on their website) but what IS on their website is a very much more substantial menu than the one we were presented with. Food was good, what we had, but bit more choice would have been nice. Service was good, friendly young girl server. We will maybe go back when they get a license & it's hopefully bit busier. It's a very nice restaurant, just needs an atmosphere....

I am so glad we found this place. The food is of a very high standard, using fine ingredients and the staff are thoroughly pleasant and welcoming. We have been twice now and are going back with friends soon. Go! You won't regret it.

Freezing room, empty, no atmosphere, food Luke warm, portions small, service was very poor, peppercorn sauce tasted like gravy granules and cold. 12 chips??

Delicious food of the children large portions and for the adults fantastic fish and chips and even better deliciously caramelised scallops. Even better it is BYO pick up and few cold beers and a bottle of wine from M&as just around the corner what more can you ask for .

We traveled quite some distance to sample the food at this restaurant after buying vouchers as it had a somewhat “quirky name” Boy were we not disappointed in anyway at all, from first arriving and getting shown to our seats in a lovely decorated upstairs part of this restaurant by a most helpful gentleman to us leaving this restaurant has it all, my choice of starter was the Queen Scallops in their shells cooked in garlic butter (they were amazing) my wife enjoyed calamari which again was perfect. Our mains were fish and chips and Scampi, my fish and chips consisting of one haddock fillet in breadcrumbs with the other in batter was a first for me but my goodness was it delicious. I would personally recommend this restaurant to anyone who stays or happens to be passing through Bearsden as the food served was delicious and hopefully we can return again soon.

On a wet night we chose to eat a fish supper, so glad we went to Scallops Tale. We had a most generous portion of haddock and chips, with minted mushy peas, tartare sauce with beetroot biscuit and a pickled onion, all beautifully presented. The young waitress was polite, friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back.

Excellent food with a wide range of choices. Great attentive staff. Good wine selection at reasonable price.

The menu was quite diverse for a fish and chip shop and the quality of the dishes we ordered were very good. Two problems. The seating was very tight and we had to ask to move from a seat with no leg room (ok I am 6ft 2in) to one with the air con blowing on the top of my head. Second was the music played upstairs was different from the downstairs but in every part of the restaurant you could hear both. For all that worth a visit.

Dinner tonight, early booking lovely welcome. Menu very good and varied. The calamari starter was lovely and presented very well as was the other starter of fishcakes. Quality food indeed. Mains of haddock was a delight , generous portions and great on the plate. Looked good and tasted gorgeous. The monkfish curry was as good if not better than any curry we have had in any restaurant. Young lady staffer very attentive. All in all cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you Mags and Dennis Hill

The fish was almost tasteless, part of the fish supper, and at £17.95 I would have expected a lot better. The waitress was barely trained; didn't even know how to serve the platters! That's fairly basic. The decor is nouveau riche, with a Hemingway quotation. Won't be returning.

Visited today to use our itison two courses for 2 voucher and had La lovely experience. Friendly atmosphere and service was first class. Not the usual voucher set menu got to pick our two courses from the menu. Scallops and halloumi bites for starters and mussels and fish n chips for mains. Food was superb. Would definitely return and recommend to others

We had meaning to try this place for a while and were not disappointed. There was plenty to choose from on the menu. We had tiger prawns and scallops as starters then posh fish and chips and mussels in a Thai sauce for mains. All were fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. Couldnt fault anything. The restaurant is in a seated area above the fish and chip shop but you really wouldn’t know it was there. The drinks menu and bar are work in progress but they had a fair selection of wines by the glass and bottle and suspect this will get better as the work is done. Staff were all welcoming and super friendly. Will we be back? Absolutely.

Went on Saturday with the hubby and was not disappointed. The food and service were OUTSTANDING. I've been wanting to try for a while, so expectations were high and definitely not disappointed. In all honesty, I think we ordered and ate too much. Portions are huge. Very relaxed atmosphere but also as professional as any high-end restaurant. Have booked again as I found a cheeky wee deal on coupon site but would've gone back anyway as prices are very reasonable. Keep up good work guys. See you soon
