Sara's Petite Cuisine in Exeter

When we come to Topsham me and mum always come here for a cuppa and quiche, The quiche is always so yummy. You can see them baking all the yummy cakes etc so nice! It’s a lovely little tea place.

What a find! It was difficult being on my own and having a dog but straight away I was informed they were dog friendly. Only two small tables squeezed in the front but that in itself was a delight so this is where I chose to sit. The staff was so friendly and I decided to treat myself to something I haven’t seen before a lemon curd brioche with my latte. It was delicious and when I mentioned the lemon curd I was told this was made in house. Even the cups and plates made you want to just be there and enjoy! Highly recommended.

What a gem! Tiny place on the main street where you can actually see them baking their own cakes and savouries. We had a great coffee and a lovely savoury brioche style croissant with Chorizo and Cheese. Lovely friendly staff and a steady stream of customers. Love finding little independent places as good as this. 👍

I have visited this restaurant for lunch three times now and it amazes me that there is never any food left by lunch time. The only thing left was quiche and black rice salad. It was ok but there was no choice. Even when it came to the drinks, the waitress said their was only one elderflower drink as her boss didn't allow her a key to top up the stock. It has the potential to be an excellent find but somehow fails to come up to any expectation with regard to service or quality of food. Shame

I'm sorry to say my repeated experience of this Café is not so good. There is never anything there to eat. If you go at lunch time quite often they have sold out of everything. The only thing they had last time was a Quiche and some black salad. It was ok but no one had any choice. I wanted an elderflower drink and so did my friend but they only had one left and the girl serving said she didn't have the key to replenish. I love the look of all the foody photographs and I appreciate that earlier customers have bought it all. Surely its not too much to have lunch at a café and have some food. I've given up now with disappointment.

Called in for coffee and a cake as its often been closed when we passed. It will certainly not be the last time! The coffee is good (both regular and decaf), and the patisserie is truly excellent. Best cakes in Topsham for sure. Haven't enjoyed coffee and pastry so much outside Italy!

Enjoyed returning to this lovely cafe, we called in a few mornings for breakfast or coffee and a naughty, always a difficult choice to be made from the yummy selection. A warm welcome and dog friendly, tables inside and out can’t wait to return.

A friend and I visited Sara's Petite Cusine for coffee and cake because of the excellent Tripadvisor reviews, and we were not dissapointed! The café is really cute, the team is just lovely! Friendly and helpful. But the cake, oh, the cake! Quite possibly the best cake I've ever had. Ever. Will I visit again? Hell yeah!

Visited for the first time today. My wife had an excellent home made tomato soup with beautiful bread and I had quiche with a delicious salad. Will be back soon to try the cakes!

stumbled on this cafe and was so grateful, cakes baked on the premises and delicious; secondly a waitress who listened to my wanting black coffee and did not bring milk as is the norm in many cafes. Coffee excellent. The outside is pretty decorated with a floral wreath on the door and the interior a style of its own and comfortable. Will certainly go back again

Excellent empadas de frango. Had these as a take out and they didn't disappoint. Enjoyed a decent coffee and pastel de nata whilst there.

Today we visited Sarah's Patisserie for morning coffee. Delighted to find the Christmas mince pies were there! Had two mince pies with our coffee. Definitely be back for more!

Popped in for takeaway cakes and coffee - bought the most amazing coconut pastry! Best i’ve ever had.

This is one of the places in Topsham I love taking my family and friends to. Not only is the exterior and interior decor always photo worthy but the cakes, pastries, sandwiches and coffee are always delicious. My favourite has to be the pecan and maple danish, closely followed by the ham and cheese croissant. Lots of alternative milks are also available and there are usually some gluten free options too. Image attached to this post is not a regular menu item but was available one Sunday brunch earlier this year - easily the prettiest breakfast I have ever eaten (and tasty too!) The staff are attentive and friendly. The café is small so there isn’t always a table available but this isn’t a problem as you can take away. If you can’t eat in, I recommend eating on a bench along the estuary. COVID measures are in place: hand sanitiser is available, masks are worn by staff and markers on the floor encourage social distancing.

La sopa y el pan caseros estaban deliciosos y a mi esposo le encantó su rollo de salmón ahumado que estaba en un brioche de carbón casero. No teníamos espacio para un pastel, ¡pero nos encantaría probar uno la próxima vez! La decoración era hermosa. ¡Altamente recomendado! !

Este es un lugar tan fabuloso, la comida es deliciosa ya que almorzamos aquí, puedo recomendar el bollo de remolacha.Buena elección o comida y bebida.El Battenburg fue increíble. Ojalá viviera más cerca para poder ir todo el tiempo.Personal encantador y amable.Una visita obligada si estás en la zona no te decepcionará.

Just popped in for coffee and a freshly baked pastry- both were absolutely delicious. Lovely old tea room feel and friendly staff. A great find!

Fuimos atendidos por dos encantadoras señoras amables. . . . . . . . los bollos de brioche eran muy sabrosos y el pastel de peras, almendras, coco y rosas fue uno de los mejores pasteles que hemos tenido. Además, el café y el té eran excelentes. Si volvemos a Topsham, este es el lugar al que nos dirigiremos.

We bought pastries every morning of our stay in Topsham and felt as if we were in France as they were so delicious. Worth ordering the night before as they sell out. Tiny cafe inside and slow service so would recommend for take out only.

Regular visit's Sara's are a must! Myself and my colleagues love to visit and try all of the different threats that are available at Sara's. Would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Buying Sara's warm pain aux raisins and almond croissants every morning for breakfast made our holiday very special. They are simply amazing, very fresh and totally homemade. We travel to France alot and have sampled many pain aux raisins but these were better than any we have tasted before. Thank you Sara....

I ordered some fruit tarts and vanilla cupcakes to take over to my mum for her birthday on Sunday. Sara responded to my requests quickly and efficiently. She even opened the shop up on a Sunday (because of Covid-19 opening hours were different) so that the tarts could be as fresh as they could be. My mum and fam absolutely loved them.

With about a dozen covers inside and a few more outside, this is a tiny place but it's worth returning if you can't get in first time! Great coffee, amazing cakes, pastries, quiche and savoury rolls all baked on the premises, and all served with a smile.

This place is so cute, welcoming with lovely finishing touches including plates and cutlery. We had banana and chocolate loaf, mocha and quiche with pasta salad, would recommend it all! Love to support local businesses and this one is a great find in the centre of Topsham would recommend. Thank you x

Did a bit of research before hand as needed a good coffee shop that was dog friendly, and its really down to my dogs that we popped into Sara's this morning.The coffee shop is small but perfectly formed. The pastries were absolutely sublime - chocolate & pistachio pastry and almond croissant - freshly made and the best we've had in a very long time. Coffee was also really good. Service genuinely friendly and prompt. Sara's is really special, looking forward to planning another visit to Topsham as an excuse to try some of the other delicious looking cakes and pastries !!

Wonderful place . Food was good and people were friendly. Warm welcome . Will revisit sometime soon .

Mi madre y yo adoramos absolutamente esta pequeña joya, ¡y he empezado a traer a mis amigos para que también les sorprenda! Aunque es un espacio pequeño, los pasteles recién hechos son los mejores que he comido, con sabores nuevos y diferentes cada vez que vamos. El personal siempre es amable, nunca ha sido nada menos que perfecto. También una pista, prueba el té de unicornio con unas gotas de jugo de limón, ¡delicioso!

We walked in off chance,lovely sweet cafe,so accommodating for our dog,and tasty Avacado on toast for me.Great service,and love the pink! So nice to find a cafe open on a wet Sunday lunchtime.

Stopped by on a sunny day and sat outside on one of the two "two person" tables outside. Coffee and cake ordered inside duly arrived and the theme was clearly accentuated by the plates and cutlery, all dainty and pink.

Discovered this delightful establishment whilst on holiday in a Topsham. It was absolutely exquisite and the coffee excellent. However, it was the detail in the presentation that made this a very special experience. We loved it so much we returned for more. Only serve pastries with the tea/coffee but these looked very tasty but due to diabetes we couldn’t sample. It was like having tea in a doll’s house and would thoroughly recommend.

Luckily for us, Sara's was the first place we saw after we arrived at Topsham which isn't difficult since the exterior was bright pink.

My friend had waxed lyrical about this place so we worked a cunning plan to have lunch in Topsham followed by "dessert" at Sara's. It is a tiny, well kept place with three tables inside and a couple outside. The cakes and pastries on offer all looked lovely. I had the Tiramisu cake - a large slice, thank you, large enough to share! My friend had the Pain au Chocolat which was also very nice.

I have started going regularly for the treat of a one of the delicious cakes/ pastries. So much attention to detail with the food and decor. Sara and her team are very welcoming.

I was brought to this lovely cafe by my Sister in law who said the Portuguese tarts were divine. As soon as i stepped in to the cafe, I thought, “what a lovely little cafe.”

Great coffee, fantastically scrumptious pastries and cake, tasty light lunches.. Such lovely friendly staff. You won't be disappointed!

We were told that the Portuguese custard tarts here were amazing - and they lived up to their reputation. Good coffee too.

I am very grateful to the person who served me. It was passed closing time and I was gasping for something to drink. I ordered a latte and cake, but was put under no pressure to consume them quickly. Coffee and cake both good and reasonably priced. Crockery quite special.

I visited with a group of friends and babies. The food was all first class. Fabulous flavour and looked great as well. Definitely not style of substance. We will be back for more cake!!

We were drawn in by the wonderful smell of a freshly baked lemon pollenta cake. The cake was great, the coffee just right and the service was excellent. Got to go back for lunch as it’s different each day dependant on the ingredients.

Friendly staff. Nice homemade cakes with a Portuguese twist. Interesting milk jug in the shape of udders! We enjoyed our visit.

Quaint little cafe, in the French style. Very nice dairy free banana cake and goat cheese and chutney roll. Will pop in again when in Topsham.

This gem is the best cafe in the Exeter district, by a country mile.The owner and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their fare.I can't think of another place with such a wide choice of delicious cakes and beverages.The decor is very stylish and cosy too. We need to replicate this place every 100 yards or so, in case it's full when visited.

We visited Sara's when it first opened & loved the friendly atmosphere the lovely cakes & a lush hot chocolate .. Now visit every time we go to Topsham .. Can't recommend it enough..

I only popped in here to grab a takeaway sandwich and on arrival saw that they had amazing ham and cheese brioche rolls, so grabbed one as it looked lovely and was not disappointed. So, so good. The rest of the pastries looked incredible, so I will definitely be back asap to try more of the delights on offer.

Great patisserie and good strong coffee! Thoroughly endorse all the other positive reviews! Will be back when I am next in Topsham.

We have visited this delightful cafe on a number of occasions, the coffee is delicious and the cakes to die for, we will return very soon, worth making a special trip.

We first tried Sara's patisserie about 10 days ago having read about it in a magazine. We bought a selection of sweet and savoury things and each one was delicious. Yesterday we returned for coffee and cake. Again the food was delicious (pasta de nata, blueberry and coconut cake and blueberry brioche). The coffee too was wonderful and we sat outside in the sun. Sara and her staff are helpful and charming, the decor pretty and inviting. A delightful experience.

The quirky decor is the first thing you notice when you go to Sara’s and that’s after you smell the sweet pastry aroma enticing you in. The friendly staff welcomed myself and my dog Errol and served me a delicious coffee in such elegant crockery. With beautiful tables and chairs inside and out, you will be spoilt for choice as well as deciding from the plethora of home baked cakes, pastries or quiche you’ll have. A great decision will be made to stop at this little cafe. Highly recommended. Ps, please open on Sundays!

A mid-morning drink (plus cake) was required and Sara's PC 'fitted the bill'. The coffee was excellent and the Portuguese custard tarts were the best we ever have had - with just a hint of cinnamon. The cost was very reasonable too. It's a pleasant small cafe with efficient and friendly staff. When in Topsham we will return.

Would definitely recommend Sara’s. She makes all her own cakes & pastries and the coffee was excellent.

A welcome new addition to the Topsham cafe scene. A wonderful selection of cakes and pastries (all made by Sara herself), along with well made coffees (flat whites, cappuccinos etc). Sara is on hand to advise and provide service with a smile.

Called in on a friends recommendation, hoping to try Sara's pastel de nata. There was no Sara who was away, and no custard tarts. So we ordered coffee and carrot cake instead. I'd like to say the cake was good, because the 3 mouthfulls I had were good. But frankly, the cake was cut so thinly you could just about see through it... Not good value in my view. Not encouraged to go back.

A coffee enthusiast recommended Sara's to me. They failed to mention the AMAZING pastries and the charm and enthusiasm of Sara. My kids adored the cinnamon buns and had a lovely chat to Sara as she cooked. A cardamon bun is a rare find in the South West - and Sara's are some of the best. We will be back as soon as we can - thank you Sara!!

Dropped in with my mum and 2 dogs Sara Was lovely All home cooked food including bread and cakes We had homemade soup which was lovely with bread and coffees which were decorated lovely. Sara is Portuguese and boy is her cooking good which you can tell in her Paste de nater pastries which to those that don’t know are a Portuguese pastry and custard tartlet perfect you must visit. It looks plain from the outside inside lovely and Portuguese and Sara was also baking when we were there. See you next time Sara

Sara's cooking, attention to detail in this bijou café is a must if your in the area. With a flair for tasty pastries who can resist those Portuguese cakes.

This cafe may be little in space but left a huge great impression! The location is great, the space itself is beautifully decorated and even the cutlery and cups are in line with the whole 'petite cuisine' style.

Discovered this recently opened gem of a cafe while visiting Topsham for the day.

Sara's Petite Cuisine is the perfect place in which to jot down the theme of your concerto, write the first paragraph of your novel, or re-read the poems of Li Bai. It is the place where an artist feels at home and it goes without saying that the teas, coffees and pastries are superb.

This is now my favourite place in Topsham. The decor is pretty and feminine and I love that you can see the kitchen area, from the cafe. There was a lovely selection of brioche, pastries, cakes and tarts, which all looked freshly prepared. Standard cafe drinks were also available, plus some specialties.

A great addition to Topsham - and one of the best! Coffee excellent and pastries superb. Have gone out of our way to call in, enjoy a coffee, and take some delightful pastries home. If only they had more tables. So good prepared to wait - but never had to wait long.

After only a few weeks of opening, Sara's has really caught on with both Topsham visitors and residents. It's not difficult to see why. Sara is a creative cook and baker, with the menu varying daily. There are a wide range of drinks, delicious cakes and pastries, as well as soups, quiches and brioche breads. Sarah is also very enthusiastic about food, being very happy to engage in conversation about her ingredients and recipes. The venue itself is small and intimate, with plans to add more tables as time progresses, and outside in the summer. Well worth checking out for the tastes, the cool venue and Sara's engaging conversation.

Sara is a great hostess, the service is wonderful, a friendly place with lovely decor and fabulous coffee cake not to mention the amazing sweet and savoury pastries.

What a surprise I had when travelling with friends. This cosy place really caught my attention. But the taste... It is above the standard. The hot chocolate and the crustards are recommended.

High quality pastry in a very pleasent, elegant place. Recomend 100%! I recommend every gluten free cake they make and the croassaints.

Went past this cafe and then thought, this is new so we went i. Very welcoming by a young lady who offered us a selection of teas and coffees and gorgeous home made cakes. Someone had just bought the last Portuguese custard so we had the upside-down pineapple cake. Wonderful. Well worth a visit.

When we couldn't get served at the Boathouse we found this new little cafe. Very simple but beautifully cooked quiche and cakes, and Sara was very friendly. I hope this is a success for her.
