What an absolute gem this place is! It came up on times magazine as one of the top things to do in Exeter. Well they weren't wrong! A very friendly gentleman took our order, We both had probably one of the best tasting coffees ever along with a fresh croissant with ham and cheese. We then had the pleasure of meeting the owner Simon. He was so kind and took us to the basement showing and telling us all about how they make their coffee on site, it was so interesting ! After asking Simon if he did pods for our coffee machine he explained that although he didn’t I could but empty pods and he could grind the beans to the correct size for us. Very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend visiting

The staff are wonderful here, super friendly and inviting. They made delicious coffee and you can purchase bags to make your own at home. The coffee is roasted on-site but the lovely Carol. Simon the owner has invested his time into employing the right staff who are excellent at what they do, perfecting the coffee experience with delicious cakes. David is super helpful and as a small team, he expertly juggles the demands of deliveries to local businesses and keeping the right staff front of house. Tim makes a mean coffee and is an excellent teacher of the barista skills. Anika is super friendly and is excellent with the customers. Nothing is too much trouble and they're always happy. I love supporting a small local company and it makes me so pleased to see how many other small companies have linked in with them. The community vine is wonderful. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

I visited to buy a bag of fresh beans for the espresso machine at home, having tried a small one recently and deciding to go for a kilo a time from now on as it's so good. The first thing that hits you when you open the door is the aroma from the roasting going on downstairs. It floats up and hits you in the face, absolutely heavenly! There were a surprising number of people sat at tables having a cup and reading their papers, eating and talking. Lovely atmosphere and I wish I hadn't been in a hurry, unable to stop. I'm sure the coffee they serve is excellent too and I'd recommend here over any other coffee shop or roaster in Exeter.

amazing coffee and other warm drinks for a very fair price, coffee is locally roasted and served very nicely - service was average, fast but not overly enthusiastic or welcoming - nonetheless a very nice place to sit inside and enjoy a coffee and perhaps a cake - unfortunately, due to its location on a busy road, sitting outside in the summer is not the most pleasant

Absolutely SUBLIME coffee, I've never tasted coffee that sings notes in your mouth when you drink it like what they sell here. The owner Simon takes some serious pride in getting top tier beans and roasting them with love and care! Had a great chat with him and learned loads about coffee that I didn't know + now fear I'm becoming a massive coffee snob but I don't even care! Fantastic locally owned coffee house, definitely a new fav

This is the best coffee shop overall in Exeter I’ve visited so far. The coffee is delicious and the baristas not only know what they’re doing but are the most friendly. I buy my beans here for my morning cup and have been slowly working my way through all the different roasts they sell and have yet to be unimpressed. Exe Coffee Roasters immediately made me feel at home in a new city/country and I’m so thankful! It is cramped in there, as it’s a super small cozy space. I like the layout and how snug it is but this may potentially be a turnoff to some?

Family were having a swim in Pyramid leisure centre across the road so I stopped here for a coffee and to catch up on some work and a little admin. I had tried the coffee at Darts Farm Shop restaurant so I already knew the coffee was going to be good but I wasn’t expecting Chemex and the like on the menu. As it was, I had a long black and slowly sipped the pleasant sweet roast in the cosy and relaxed atmosphere with a good music selection playing in the background. It’s fairly small (hence the ‘cosy’ bit), but if you are in any way a coffee connoisseur, it’s well worth going out of your way for if you’re not here anyway. Warm welcome from the friendly staff which added to the relaxed atmosphere.

It's not often the coffee shop on your doorstep, is one of the best you've been to. Exeter is home to a great many, wonderful coffee shops; but Exe stands out through its subtle charm, the warmth from its staff, and of course the delicious, and consistent coffee. Ideal for small business meetings, a catch up with friends, or just some time alone. Dog, and child friendly. An eclectic music selection varies each day, but is never intrusive or detracts from the quaint coffee house atmosphere. And, If you're a pastry fiend like my partner, then you will not be disappointed. Well worth the visit, 5/5.

In a world of chain cafes and restaurants offering predictable, boring menus, we struggled to find an independant establishment to have lunch in Exeter. It was only by chance we passed Drake's sign on the pavement and walked down the little alley. And what a find it was! It was a busy Friday lunch time and all the tables were full but the lovely waitress (Mum of the owner), asked us if we'd wait a moment or two as a table was becoming available. Once seated the service was excellent. We struggled to decide what to order due to the lovely dishes on offer and once served, the food was delicious. The atmosphere was vibrant in this querky little cafe/bistro and clearly all the family are passionate about providing good service and delicious food. Our visit was brief but this little gem made a big impression on us. Pity we were only visiting Exeter during a weekend away, otherwise we'd become regulars!
