Saranda in Harrogate

One of our favourite restaurants in Harrogate back open after a short break. Food and service was as fantastic as always. Excellent choice of Mediterranean dishes including vegetarian options. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

What a find! We are a family of 4 with two kids (8 & 10) and had visiting family from New Zealand. We had an absolutely wonderful meal - fresh, good portions, great flavours. One of my kids is quite fussy and demolished several of the small plates. Great service and felt like a very Authentic experience. Will definitely be back.

Saranda is an amazing restaurant. Great choices on the menu. We opted for the sharing platter,houmous and feta dips. All were absolutely delicious and plentiful portions. The staff are very friendly, helpful and hardworking. Donald was so lovely. A definite ten out of ten in every way.

Excellent food and atmosphere. The feta dip with chilli was great and the rice was fluffy and moreish. The chicken kebabs where well cooked and flavoursome.

Genuine and authentic Greek/Albanian restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. I enjoyed the spiced lamb and flatbread and my wife enjoyed the Special of the evening Stifado of which there was plenty. Although very quiet when we ate there, the restaurant still had atmosphere

We had been to this restaurant a couple of times previously and quite enjoyed it. This time though was very disappointing. The menu had changed, so the only main courses were the two specials. All the other dishes were small plate mezes. Previously I had enjoyed the lamb chops, but these (along with other main course dishes) were no longer on the menu. The dolmades were very nice; the stuffed squid though was only luke warm, and the kleftiko was somewhat dry. What I found objectionable was that at the end of the meal, the bill was just read out to us from the waiter's tablet, with service charge already added, and with an expectation of immediate payment. This is not good service; the bill should be presented to the customer, who can then examine it at their leisure. So, overall, a disappointment.

Fantastic, authentic food. Pleasant attentive staff. We have been many times and the service and food is also top notch. We look forward to further visits. Can highly recommend this restaurant.

Wow!!! Decided to eat here after reading the reviews and so glad we did. Saranda is a Greek/Albanian restaurant, fairly small, but lovely decor and atmosphere. We were spoilt for choice with the menu, even my partner who doesn't eat meat. For starters we opted for the Garlic Mushrooms, but with a twist. Delicious mushrooms in a sort of creamy tomato sauce. We also had the mixed dips with Greek flatbread which was wonderful. For our mains I opted for Tavë Kosi, which was cinnamon spiced lamb in a tomato, onion and white wine sauce, served with Saranda rice. This was AMAZING, and well worth the wait as it was cooked to order. My other half chose Spanakopita - spinach, feta cheese, spring onion and baked in filo pastry. This was also delicious. As much as we would have loved dessert we were just too full as the portions were pretty big. Excellent service too and definitely our place to go next time we're in Harrogate

Dined last evening. Walked in without a reservation- no problem! I have not eaten Albanian food before but it will not be the last time based on our meals. Shared the delicious fried Whitebait ( so rarely seen on a menu). Then I had the Pave Beef and my Partner a more traditional Greek Lamb dish Kleftiko. Both were falling apart and delicious. Family operated restaurant and they worked so hard all evening to deliver a truly wonderful evening. Thank you

My wife and myself visited this establishment after day 1 working at the Great Yorkshire Show. The staff were very welcoming, and had soon shown us to our table and taken our drinks order, the obligatory Efes in my case (when in Rome etc). The menu was extensive, but we quickly decided and the starters arrived very speedily. They were beautifully presented, hot and delicious, as was the main courses (My Swordfish steak was out of this world). All in all, this is an excellent place to visit if you are in Harrogate, situated just round the corner from the Bus and Train Stations.

It was the first time I had been to this place but feel sure it will not be the last. After a delicious starter consisting of four generously sized lamb meatballs it was on to the main course of Tavë Kosi, an Albanian dish of lamb cooked with white wine and yoghurt and served with rice. Absolutely scrumptious! My stomach was threatening to burst by the time I had finished everything but I can hardly wait to try the place again. At around £40 a head it's by no means cheap. That covered the starter, main course and two fresh orange juices, plus a 10% service charge, which is automatically added to the bill. The service itself was standard - not the over-the-top gushing-to-please affair you get in some places, neither a surly person who clearly doesn't want to be there. Just efficient and friendly enough.

First time visit to Saranda on my daughters recommendation. Very relaxed atmosphere, plenty of food choices to suit all diets/budgets, not a massive choice of desserts but the cheesecake I chose was delicious. Good service without being intrusive, highly recommend.

The food was fantastic. The lamb kebab was the best I have ever tasted, beautifully soft & succulent. My husband chose the kofta, which he throughly enjoyed. I chose a cointreau liqueur coffee. But sadly they had run out of cointreau. The portions are a good size, so you never leave feeling hungry. Harrogate's hidden gem.!! If you like Greek food, this is definitely the place for you..We shall definitely return..

The food was delicious, at reasonable prices. I liked the decoration and the mixture of cultures, food and people. Definitely one of the best restaurants in town. Quiet place, just 5 min. walk from the centre.

Saw that Saranda had great reviews on here. We went and the food was really really good, simple Mediterranean food done well, everyone enjoyed their food which is the main part of my review. The service wasn't amazing, with food taking over 1.5hrs and a glass of wine with no wine in it (I thought it was odd too).

Believe in the other 5* reviews you've seen; the food and service here is superb. We had the Stifado and the Kleftiko; both were delicious. The service was excellent and the northern Greek red wine that was suggested was the perfect accompaniment.

little gem in Harrogate and a place you have to experience this is wonderful family run business. I have to say that the atmosphere was wonderful and relaxed and we were seated on a nice table. The decore of the restaurant is wonderful traditional Mediterranean feeling so you can just sit eat and talk for hours. Well on to the severice it was great, they always check to make sure you have everything you need, and the main reason you need to go hear is the food it is by far the best Greek Albanian cuisine I have had for a long time and I will be back to try other foods on the menu so give it a try you won't be disappointed.

A hidden gem! The service is faultless and the food is absolutely incredible. The stews are like nothing I have ever had before, but absolutely amazing. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes. Could not recommended enough.

Such good choices at such good prices. Something for everyone and perfectly cooked and excellent quality. Top marks to the chef. This is a family run business so not a mass chain. Its not the cheapest you will find, but it's by no means the most expensive either. I felt the prices were better than many chains, considering the quality. If you want beautiful food in lovely surroundings with fab service and to leave feeling like your custom was valued, then try here. Small business need our support at the moment and this particular one really is deserving of it. Oh... Highly recommend the meze starter for 2. Was well worth every penny and plenty of it.
