Excellent food with lots of choice. The service was also excellent. Recommended.

The food was good. The person that took our order was rude and very unhelpful which spoilt the whole experience.

Nipped in here for a quick one, service quick, mid afternoon so not too busy and noisy, plenty of free space so not overwhelmed with fighting for seating, prices reasonable for the service offered, really clean which makes all the difference to me being a cleaning fanatic it is noticed if it isn't, so thanks to the cleaners behind the scenes, they don't always get credit but I know they're there and a full 5 stars to them whomever they are x

The garlic prawns were amazing, the crayfish and prawn rolls were nice but the bun slightly dry. Staff were very friendly too.

Whilst the restaurant looks and feels pretty cool, on the day we dined, we fell victim of what appeared to be very poor management. Only 1 member of staff serving food and taking orders which left us feeling unwelcome. When our order was taken, we made it clear to exclude an item of food and when our food arrived, the meal came with this item. If given the opportunity, we would have raised the issue when a food check was done however, this never happened. It's a very good job it wasn't an allergy! The toilets need attention, cleaning and maintenance. Strangely enough, in what is a modern and contemporary decor, there is a random tele showing weird mythological images. Bizarre! Whilst I'd love to return because the menu sounds great, I'm not sure I could, or recommend this restaurant.

A lovely place for breakfast / brunch. Good value, good food and great service. Definitely worth a visit. We were a largish group (7) and they were very accommodating. Food came quickly and was lovely and hot. Excellent idea with QR code to check for food allergies.

We had a brilliant night with family. Very attentive staff. Wonderful cocktails. Music was loud so chatting was difficult at time and the toilets lacked toilet rolls in both male and female toilets. Fantastic atmosphere.

Ordered 3 tapas for £24.95. Very disappointing, expected better for the price. Chicken skewers were cold, prawns weren’t shelled and the bao buns were overpowered with a strong vinegar dressing.

Lovely bar and food . We love to vist when we come to harrogate. Shame some one was sick all down the stairs. And walked off and left it for a member of staff to clean it up. All day brunch to much for some.

Out with partner on a wee pub crawl in Harrogate popped in for 2 4 1 cocktails offer partner had pina coladas I had a hazey ipa drinks were good guy behind bar was polite. A wee bit to noisey for me but lovely decor the food looked good but a bit pricey

such a nice place to have a drink at. went here on friday and thought we wouldn't drink much but everything was just so good! the wine portions are a bit expensive for how much they pour you, but the 2-4-1 cocktails are absolutely lush you need to try them! service was very nice, but from someone who works at hospitality please make sure there aren't empty dishes when people leave the tables!! atmosphere was just what we needed, lively, friendly, amazing. 5/5 will be coming back here!!

Went on a trip to Harrogate, there were 22 of us in total and we had lunch at the Banyan, it was a fabulous experience. The food was excellent as was the service. Manisha looked after us and she was so attentive, the Banyan are lucky to have her.

Loved the experience, me and my friends did a bottomless brunch and it was so much fun. Kaitlin was our server and she was fantastic. Brunches can be so hit or miss but she was amazing and truly made our time so much fun.

Just wanted to say if you're looking for the best bottonless brunch around then this is the place to go. Yesterday 9 of us got together to celebrate a colleagues 50th birthday here and were massively impressed by the service and the food and drink provided. A very special mention to Manisha who endlessly kept us topped up with prosecco and cocktails. We will definitely be back.

My family visited this restaurant for some dinner after staying in Harrogate for a few days. We did research before hand and liked the look of the menu and the fact that it was “dog friendly” we have a young 5 month old dog who is quite excitable much like a toddler,and a 13year old dog. When we arrived we were greeted by a member of staff who was lovely and made a fuss of our younger dog. We were seated and ordered our dinner.The food was very nice and was happy with that. But the smell of the food made our young dog bark a little. We were calming her down and reassured her. We were sat next to a guy on the next table with a laptop who worked there and presuming how he was floating around was the manager! Whilst eating our meal I could see the manager talking to a female and male who had come into the bar and whispering and pointing at us,which in turn made the other people stare. He also told the bar staff. I have never felt so unwelcome and embarrassed in my life. My husband took our young dog outside whilst I finished my food.I cannot begin to say how awful I felt. She is a puppy and got a bit excited so barked, would they give a parent trying to calm an upset child down the same treatment!!! Btw we had our daughter with us. I would never return to this restaurant and would not recommend to anyone with dogs unless you want to come out upset and want looks and whispers and disapproving looks. If you don’t like dogs don’t state you do!! JUST AWFUL!!

Just wanted to compliment the amazing service and charisma from a gentleman that has only been with you a month - really kind, friendly, and a great asset to your team! Don't know his name but has both arms sleeved with tattoos and very polite! :-) Just deserves a shout out. Food great as always but he delivered wonderful service - both my husband and I thought so! Thank you and all the best to him and his career with you all. :-)

Impressive place, brilliant staff, steak ciabata excellent. Well worth a visit

My husband and I eat at Banyan very often when visiting Harrogate and the food has always been really nice. However, we had breakfast on Sunday morning. We waited a long time for the food to arrive (considering there was just us and one other couple in). When we did receive our food, mine was lukewarm. I did mention this to the waitress and she offered to take it back to the kitchen but we didn't have time to wait another 40 minutes or so. As we walked back to our apartment I was taken ill and had sickness and diarrhoea for 3 days! I think it must have been the poached eggs that I had that were the issue (my husband had fried eggs and he was ok and his food was hot?). My eggs were placed on top of the rest of the food (rather than to the side) and I think they may have been undercooked and dipped in cold water - this is what made the rest of the meal unpleasantly lukewarm. I did contact Banyan privately to let them know but received no acknowledgment.

Great cocktails and atmosphere in Banyan. We stayed nearby and with plenty of options we plumped for this bar. We didn’t have food so cannot comment on this but what we witnessed, food looked nice? Special deals are available 2-4-1 cocktails and on other drinks. Overall a nice experience.

Very disappointing.... had to send the food back twice.... asked for a steak sandwhich with no mushrooms... First time came out with mushrooms so sent it back... came back about 30 seconds later in a new peice of bread and still with some mushrooms. Really disappointed.... kitchen obviously doesn't care about the quality of there food because the third time there was hardly any steak and it was really under cooked

Were group of 6 friends , had great time.. great atmosphere... Very good crowd .. excellent service and food.. we ordered chicken kebab wrap, chicken burger and Thai chicken curry . And some cocktails.. worth your time and money.. highly recommended!!

Friendly staff. Excellent drinks and food. Great atmosphere when the sun's out and the doors are open. Changing review as last visit tainted previous experiences at the bar. Quiet afternoon, not acknowledged by the two bartenders, despite the bar not being busy. Was going to order food alongside a drink, just left in the end.

The food was lovely, if a little expensive for what it is. The service was great. There was a table of people that pulled up extra chairs and blocked the aisle, so every time anyone walked past they would have to physically squeeze between us. Several people bumped into me trying to get through. I wish I had asked to move but we'd already began eating.

£12.20 for two pints of shandy, daylight robbery 😩, no wonder the place was empty………………………………………………………..🍻…….,a mistake not to be repeated

Terrible. Ordered a steak sandwich.. it never came. When I chased it up, they told me the kitchen was closed so we couldn’t have it. Full of young staff members who were, quite honestly, clueless. Used to be decent, but the staff now honestly are abysmal.

Love the Banyan nice decor, bright, very friendly and helpful staff and served this time by Andrew. Very welcoming, friendly and gives advice on meals and drinks. Love the Old Fashioned no cheap syrup and a quality drink. Came back later that night as well although a younger clientele we really enjoyed our time and drinks. Cheers everyone 🙌🏻

We came for drinks we ordered 2 gin and tonics with lime upon this the bar person continued to pick up the lime with his hands to put in our drinks, we said sorry please don't handle the lime with your hands don't you have tongs for this, the bar person look confused he didn't seem to understand this is a hygiene issue, we refused the lime upon he put the limes back in the dish to serve to someone else. We raised this with the bar manager who said it was totally acceptable to put limes,lemons, in people drinks by hand.. He was very rude, may we suggest this issue could perhaps due a refresher course in hygiene matter?and perhaps buy some tongs to put fruit in customer drinks...

If I could give zero I would such was the disappointing experience I had when I recently visited. Ordered eggs bendict and whilst the eggs were cooked well , the bagel was hard and hardly toasted. Other dish served was not as described, and barely edible. The coffee was cold. When I spoke to the manageress, Louise, her response made a bad situation worse. No apology was offered, rather a smirking " I suppose you want a refund". A partial refund was accepted but on reflection should have insisted on a full refund given the overall experience. Do not eat here. Poor, poor, poor

Absolutely shocking customer service! I stood for 15mins waiting to be served by the young barman, only for him to totally ignore me and serve 2 young girls behind me! Obviously a 55yr old doesn't appeal to him! Sort your staff out Banyan please.. I left and now having a lovely drink at pipitos opposite... very nice and pleasant

Got there 10 mins before rest of party joined, ordered a beer from our booked table. Incredibly slow service... It was quiet and there were plenty of staff on, but most I could see them stood behind the bar, arms crossed, chatting away to each other. Took nearly 10 minutes to get my drink. Wasn’t a brunch either I was paying full prices. Same thing happens with my second drink, last drink I ordered - then after a while I asked for the check - the check came before my drink so I cancelled the last drink. Guys on the bar, if you’ve got time to lean - fair enough - do so, but sort your customers out first eh! Other disappointment - we were a Party of 6, 3 first choice items were not available. Food was good, hot and tasty to be fair although my wife complained about the freshness of her salad and nothing seemed to get done about it. Price included a 10% ‘optional’ tip. I dislike that, but I can see the logic from a business perspective (although it’s bad from a customer experience perspective - shows where their priorities are) - however I begrudgingly paid it. Doubt I’ll be going back in a hurry!

We have been over the years regular visitors to Banyan and have always enjoyed it with excellent food, drinks and service. Sadly today's visit was very poor. Food highly overpriced and poor, staff rude with zero customer service skills. Who ever owns it needs to get some feedback and make changes.

Visited here with a group of work colleagues for someone's leaving do. She booked online and then sent the link to "pre-order" our food if we wished. I believe 2 or 3 of us pre-ordered. Upon arrival, I met some of my team, and tried to order from the QR code on the table. When I tried to go to my basket and pay, it kept saying error occurred, so had to go to the bar which was fine enough. Tried again a bit later, and didn't work again, so went to the bar. I was the only person waiting as the man tending the bar must have been washing glasses and couldn't see me. I was standing there for 2 minutes as the only person at the bar, and two other members of staff were at the kitchen window/till area and saw me stood there, and didn't let the bartender know someone was waiting. He finally popped onto the bar with hands full of glasses to put away which is fine of course, but he didn't acknowledge me, give eye contact or say "I'll be right with you", and I was stood directly in front of where he was putting the glasses so he knew I was there, and only once he put the glasses away did he give me ANY sort of acknowledgement. Then, the food shambles. Our food pre-order was confirmed by the head of the group at 5pm, so when everyone else food turns up but ours, we're confused. Apparently the morning manager didn't let the evening manager know of the pre-order. There was apologies from the staff which was appreciated, but nothing was offered to us as an apology - we had to ask for olives and pitta (which did end up being free, thankfully) to tide us who pre-ordered over as the rest of them sat eating. After a lot of back and forth between us and the staff over 3 missing dishes, twenty nine minutes after the first lot of food was brought out, our pre-orders came, after everyone else had eaten. I added onto my pre-order notes that my mac and cheese come without the crumb, but it came with it on. No mega biggie, just wish they'd checked the actual pre-order before telling the kitchen to make our food as I didn't enjoy as much because of the texture. The flavour of mac and cheese was okay, though, if a bit bland. Very cheesy but not much flavour. It was a decent portion. I ordered chips on the side which I couldn't finish (£4.25 for an average basket of chips is a bit steep too in my opinion, I'd have paid £3.50 maximum for that portion size if I knew and probably skipped on them). We finished our food and very slowly but surely the plates started to be cleared. As the night grew on, we condensed from two tables to one as people started to leave, but the rest of us didn't have space for our bags/coats in the booth, so we left them at our the higher booth some of us occupied previously. One of the waitresses came over and was starting her closing cleans, and attempted to clean the table with our belongings on, which then made us feel like we had to clear up and go, so that's what we did, and it was only around 9:30. It wasn't especially busy, and cleaning the one table would have only taken her 2 minutes at the end of the night. I work in a shop and cafe and when I'm clearing tables or starting to close down, I avoid where the customers are sat so as to not make them feel rushed. Overall, an unpleasant experience and I honestly don't think I'll return, even in a smaller group or just for drinks. Completely been put off by the service, the lack of organisation, the ignorance of the staff, the prices and the subtle push for us to leave. What should have been a pleasant leaving do quickly turned into a frustrating experience.

They do two for one cocktails, they’re good, the lemon pie cocktail is outstanding Service was friendly and a great atmosphere…. Cocktails were so good we came back pre dinner …….did I mention the lemon pie cocktail ?

I've been to Banyan a couple times. It's in a great location and a fun place to grab a drink at night. The service there is wonderful. I just have one suggestion from this most recent visit. You have to work on the California Sushi Bowl. The dish is beautiful, but you should think about using different ingredients. IMHO your flavor profile is off. The rocket overpowers the rest of the flavors, the wild rice is too grainy of a texture, the cabbage and the carrots are both pickled which throws it out of balance and the salmon is smoked. I'd recommend: rocket ----> mixed greens wild rice ---> sushi / white rice carrots ---> edamame smoked salmon ---> sushi grade salmon throw a scoop of surimi on there, chopped spring onion and some sesame seeds, keep everything else and you've really got something! Anyway this place is still good and I'll be going back.

Ate at Banyan last night with my friend, I had the cauliflower curry which was great. We were served by Ray who went out of his way to be helpful and was very polite.

Really enjoyed my visit. Food servers were brilliant and went out of their way for us. The bar staff weren’t quite as assertive but I think they were short staffed that day. Food was good but portion sizes for some of the dishes were a bit small, particularly the burgers. Overall it was very enjoyable.

Went with some friends here for an 18th birthday celebration, we just had drinks so no food but everything was lovely and the bartenders were so nice. I always love coming here and would recommend it to anyone!

Been coming here 20 years and never disappointed

Visited Thursday for lunch. Found a table outside which had not been cleared from the previous diners. Still waiting for it to be cleared 10 minutes later so moved plates myself to table next to me. My husband had gone into order and was met with the rudest waitress we’ve ever had. She huffed when he didn’t know the table number! Gave him attitude when he asked if the table could be wiped down and she said to him “what do you want me to do first clean the table or take your order”! What a horrible attitude for customers to put up with. When he did finally get to order all the favourites on the menu where unavailable!!! Really?! What a painful experience but she did us favour as we left and went to a really lovely restaurant with a smiling happy helpful waitress.

A really nice, spacious bar. Serves a decent pint and the staff are friendly. We only went in for drinks, but the food looked good and reasonably priced. Good location in a street full of bars/restaurants.

Had a lovely time having lunch here - though I had to wait 40 minutes for it to arrive. The interior decoration is great: fun and spacious. It is also pet friendly which is good for those who have pets. Highly recommend the Korean burger.

Most of the food that was on the menu wasn’t available, the kitchen closes too early aswell. The food took about 40 minutes to come, and I the food was disappointing and not worth the money.

Visited twice on our overnight stay in Harrogate, Great atmosphere and lovely cocktails (especially the lemon cheesecake) 😋 very good deal with 2 for 1 making it one of the cheaper places to drink around the area.

A Tuesday lunchtime treat with a friend. I ordered the Fried Chicken Burger for a change as I normally would have The Greenhouse Burger. When it arrived the chicken burger was completely ‘frazzled’, extremely thin and smothered in a hot kind of mayo. This was probably trying to hide the fact it was burnt. The bun was like a cheap supermarket bap. This was totally unacceptable but couldn’t find a staff member to inform. Considering there was only one more table occupied besides ours the service was absolutely appalling. Before leaving we visited the ‘ladies’. Omg it was filthy and very smelly. Not at all up to previous visit standards. This used to be one of my favourite restaurants – no longer. We realised after seeing the state of the toilet on top of burnt offerings and bad service, exactly why the restaurant was practically empty when it’s usually heaving. Unfortunately I will not be going back there in a hurry.

Popped in twice during our visit to Harrogate. Tea in the afternoon was very nice and the new colleague was charming. We went back for 2-1 cocktails later and enjoyed the evening atmosphere. We always go to Banyan when in Harrogate.

Visit Harrogate often and love this bar. Breakfasts are always brilliant. However, went yesterday, lots of food not available, no coffee. The sausage was 2 inches long and a scrappy piece of bacon. Eggs were hard. Asked for eggs to be replaced and by the time they came, I’d eaten the very small breakfast. Spoke to the person in charge who said “sorry I do hope you will come back again and try another meal” reallly?! Why would I go back and spend more money on food that was terrible? No alternative , refund or discount offered. Service and food, not good!!!!!

Went for Sunday lunch. Won’t be returning. Ordered at the bar, was told that is was 45 min wait for food, that was then reduced to 30 mins by the time we had been served our drinks. We waited 52 mins….When it finally arrived a girl that spoke pigeon English asked if we would like a drink on the house.( Not the manager). There was no horseradish in a place serving Roast Beef. Food was 5/10 service was 1/10.

We booked Banyan for a celebration and was not disappointed! The care before hand and whilst we were there was amazing. The manager couldn't do enough to help. We had the buffet and the food was excellent. Would highly recommend!

Good ISH hamburger but small. Staff unable to deny poor quality house fries and onion rings were not frozen catering pack items. Soft drinks far too expensive. For £20 thereabouts total wish I'd gone for a curry.

The Food and the Service was very good, the young man that served our table was very polite and helpful. The main issue we have with Banyan is as soon as you pay the bill you are virtually escorted off the premises. Having paid a bill of almost £500 we were then told we had 5 minutes to get our stuff together and vacate. We explained that we had drinks to finish and then the manager and doorman came over asking us again to vacate the seats. Banyan, shame on you. Great service, but when the bills paid its time to leave. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Hi Thank you for your response, although the content isn't entirely correct. The doorman on duty informed us as we left "I'm not sure what all the fuss was about, no one else has even shown up for the table". I also recall being informed that we could have the table until the football finished. Football consists of 2, 45 minute halves and a 15 minute interval? No one informed us that you had 'World Cup Slots' that were limited to 4 hours. Great bar staff, appalling management.

Used the QR code on the menu to order Banana pancakes. Turns out that QRcode lead to Banyan Corn Exchange. After 45 mins Harrogate banyan told me they weren’t coming and there wouldn’t refund me. I don’t even get an apology for the misprint. Zero remorse. I hope table 14 at Corn exchange enjoys the pancakes.
