We were looking for a decent place on our travels, something cheap and plentiful. We saw the large plates of food on the tables and thought yes that'll do. I ordered grilled chicken, chips, salad (no rice was available), hubby had lasagne and salad (didn't want chips) after about 15 minutes food arrived and we were very disappointed. A small grilled chicken steak and 22 chips (I counted them), salad was soaked in vinegar. Lasagne was small and the salad well same as above. We left hungry. We will not be returning. Overpriced and poor.

It is now called 'Tans Cafe' but is still a one up from a greasy spoon cafe. However, it is run by a nice couple who all try to be attentive, and the range of set breakfasts are very good for the £5.50 charged. I had the set breakfast 5 which was the biggest breakfast meal I have ever had and the price included toast and coffee. My wife just had a sausage sandwich and coffee. Very, very, good value, nicely cooked, and good service.

It’s changed it’s name to “Tan’s Cafe”. Overpriced considering most of the breakfasts include only one sausage, egg and bacon. Got my order wrong. Most people in the cafe weren’t eating but just talking a foreign language very loudly amongst themselves and the cook. Not a pleasant environment to eat in. Food was ok.Only accepts cash.

Average food served in a typical greasy spoon. Breakfast was ok. The sausage served was cut several times. Not sure why and only made the sausage quite dry.

Im great lover of a good fried breakfast and this is definitely the best around. Great choices, tea/coffee and bread/toast included in the price. Makes it also great value. Friendly staff. Very quick service. Never waited longer than 10 mins for food even when there isnt an empty seat in the house. We love it so much we are now regulars every weekend! Just note its now called Tans Cafeteria though, not Sandy cafe.

We were coming to Sandy so googled cafes in the area - we came across this one which sounded very good although it has a different name now - TAN'S CAFETERIA - and ordered ourselves 2 set breakfasts - fab, freshly cooked, quickly cooked and a big portion - we loved it - and they come with free toast and coffee/tea. My only gripe is that my boyfriend picked the breakfast he liked but it had a fried slice on (why do cafes put fried slices on breakfasts as a) they are seriously bad for your health and b) you are getting toast anyways?)...so the waitress said that was fine and he got mushrooms instead. BUT when we came to pay, the manager had charged us £1.20 extra for the swap. We explained that at no point had the menu or the waitress said that there would be an extra charge for swapping !!!! He tried to back peddle and blame the poor "new" waitress for not telling us - actually that is your job to train the waitress what is what and so she could have told us about this extra cost - he relented and just charged us the £5.50 advertised. Not impressed as this let down what was a very good experience. They also started showing people out at 2.00 pm (we got there at 1.30 pm) as this was their closing time and were turning away customers, but they did not have their close time on the door for Sundays?

This cafe has been taken over and is now called something else (Can't remember the name) and all the other times we have eaten in here has always been quite pleasant however the last visit was a bit disappointing. Took them a good 20 mins to take our order and then a further 10 mins to bring a cup of tea over, no coke which they failed to tell us could be obtained from the fridge, The food however was as always very nice, can t have any complaints. All in all the service needs to improve, maybe I am being a bit harsh as they have only just taken over.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn for 2 nights just down the road, did not want to pay £10 each for breakfast so walked into Sandy and this was the first cafe we saw. A busy little place, spotlessly clean and friendly staff. Ordered egg on toast for two, did not want full breakfast but saw others and it looked very nice. No complaints at all and was there again in the afternoon for a coffee. Will be back there.

Spacious cafe. Everything very average including menu price, choice and quality etc. Very impressed with their coffee.I ordered the Olympic breakfast which was very filling - good to see fresh mushrooms instead of slimy, tinned ones. Not sure why hash browns were served alongside a generous portion of chips and I would have preferred baked beans and/or a tomato as the meal was rather dry.Service efficient and business-like rather than friendly.

My husband and I were treated to a champagne afternoon tea by our son. We went yesterday and the whole afternoon was a delightful experience. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food was excellent. We will definitely visit again.

What a lovely gem of a pub. Very friendly pub in a lovely little Bedfordshire village! We were here today for a Sunday roast and after eating out at more expensive restaurants in the area and being disappointed by their high prices and average food, this was on another level, it was beautiful!! Everything was freshly cooked and home mad at a very reasonable price. Shall definitely be returning.😁

Stopped in for a tea, coffee and scone for the first time this weekend as we happened to drive past. It was all lovely and reasonably priced. However it is disappointing that a venue in such a prime countryside location doesn’t at least allow dogs inside somewhere. I imagine their foot traffic would increase substantially if dog walkers could come in for a post/pre walk refreshment.

This place could be amazing but it is lacking atmosphere and the food is very ordinary. It needs a total overhaul. Everything feels dated and they need to look at other restaurants/brasseries in other area. It always seems half empty. Wouldn't go back again.
