Sandpiper in East Riding of Yorkshire

A hidden gem, very homely pub and I love eating here. Have been many times and the staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful, and the food is always lovely. I always end up leaving with a happy and full belly! Have also been for event nights (live music) and had an absolute blast.

I don’t know how places like this keep going. The staff tend to be good and service always quick. The food is always so average and like something you would buy from ASDA and warm in your microwave. I’d rather pay 33% more and get nice fresh food cooked by a chef. Very basic food.

What a fab place, we went for my Dad's 80th birthday wow wow the food was absolutely amazing,the staff went above and beyond and the manager what fab guy,I would definitely recommend this place,we had 21 people for dinner and the bill was £220 for us all,great food great staff and great atmosphere,get yourselfs there for a great meal,keep up the good work guys 👍

Came last night with friends to the queen tribute night, we had such a good time, staff were lovely and friendly, great atmosphere as well, will definitely be back!

This is the 3rd time myself and family have visited this pub. Between us we have pretty much gone through the menu and never had a bad meal, 👍 to the chef. Josh and his team are very accommodating, nothing too much trouble for them. We will definitely be returning 😊

We came for a craft day and had lunch while we were here. The children had a great time and the food was lovely. We have had a few meals here as a family and the food is always good pub grub. Having the play area makes it easier to keep the kids busy while waiting for food.

We attended for the free craft day. There were loads of fun (and messy!) activities for the kids to do. They got to take all their creations home at the end and it was great to let them have fun without the responsibility of having to put everything away at the end! We also stopped for lunch and took advantage of the “kids eat for £1” offer. Food was lovely, staff were all super friendly too!

We visited for an evening meal, we were waiting a long time for food, my husband asked the waitress how much longer it would be & eventually it turned up, there were other people in the restaurant asking where their food was also, once again advertising mint gateau yet still not available, this is the second visit we have asked for this dessert to be disappointed yet again as it was not available, maybe you should take it off the menu.

Visited on mothersday, the pub was very busy and had a lovely atmosphere with some big tables in on what is obviously a very busy day! The staff were great and our Sunday roasts enjoyable. 5* from us.

Visited for Mother’s Day after having a great meal before, wasnt disappointed. Great steak and burgers and brilliant service. Will be back!

Came here with family and a dog for a birthday treat. We all chose the meal on offer; a curry and a drink. We had a good while to wait for the food arriving, albeit it was hot and came with lovely soft naan bread and a poppadom. Also a side of chips (always manage a few of these) We finished with apple crumble and custard and sticky toffee pudding and custard for desserts. Very nice too. We all enjoyed our choices immensely. It's not posh gastro pub food; just bar meals that taste great. The atmosphere was good and quiet. Plenty of space inside when we were in, although starting to fill when we were leaving We enjoyed it and we will certainly come back.

Steak was brilliant and cooked how I asked it for. Wife had sea bass special and really enjoyed that too. Great value especially when kids eat for £1. Staff always polite and helpful, nice atmosphere. Go here often and will be back for more!

Had the steak and ale pie, the crust was rock hard and when trying to cut it it shattered. I don't know where the steak was I found 2 bits of gristle with veins and tubes in. Def no meat. Disappointed.

After a short walk from Ferriby, we decided to go for Sunday lunch here. We were served quickly. The food arrived shortly after and was beautifully presented and hot. It was good to see fresh vegetables and homemade yorkshire puddings, as opposed to frozen. Also fresh herbs in the gravy. I chose the vegetarian Sunday lunch, which was delicious. The meat Sunday lunch was plentiful, with four good slices of roast turkey. We took advantage of the 30% off main meals offer. The man who served us, who was possibly the manager was very attentive and helpful. All in all a pleasant visit. Highly recommended. We will be going back soon to try something else from the menu.

Visited after being let down at another place we had pre booked for. They fit us in at the last minute, a large group booking which consisted of quite a few children also. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They really were a credit. The food was lovely and the wait time for food was very reasonable. We wish we had booked for here in the first place but will remember for next time. What had started out as initially a bit of a disaster for my sister in laws birthday turned out to be a very nice family meal out. Thank you Sandpiper!

Customer service was excellent, the chef Ed & Louie cooked my steak perfect as medium. We was pleasantly surprised as it’s been a long time since we have visited.

Both myself and hubby had the surf & turf. Not overley impressed really. Chips tasted very oily, peas were cold and my hubbys steak was quite red & bloody inside even though he asked for Medium to well done! Also i had a Mocha to drink, and its the worst Mocha ive tasted. just a basic hot chocolate and hardly any froth! I'll stick to Cooplands for my Mocha.

Lovely Sunday lunch at a wonderful dog friendly pub, Willow our dog especially liked the free treats she got 😊 staff were very attentive, friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend!

Stopped by for a late lunch prior to dropping off our son at the train station. Not been for a while but found standards have regrettably gone down hill. Ordered our food at 2.30pm and at 3.40pm still no food! It was not very busy so god knows how long you wait if it is. We were now pushing for time, enquired to the waitress how much longer it would be, she said she would find out but never came back to us, after a further 10 mins food finally arrived. Certainly not worth the wait, cheap and cheerful, do not expect too much!! Very disappointed that there was also DOGS - my biggest annoyance when eating, find it so unhygienic. There was even a woman at the end of the bar laid on the floor taking photos of her dog!!!! Certainly will not be returning in a rush!

Visited as I had heard the Sandpiper is now dog friendly. Turned out to be a great choice. Food was delicious… particularly recommend the fish and chips. Steak was cooked medium rare, exactly what we asked for. Staff were friendly and even had treats for our pooch. Will definitely be returning!

Ordered 2 Sunday Roasts and 1 Mixed Grill, excellent value for money cooked and presented to a high standard. Friendly staff, will visit again soon.

My two girls have recently been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, so eating out is quite challenging and requires a bit of research. We were pleasantly surprised when visiting the Sandpiper today, the General Manager provided us with a specific gluten free menu which had plenty of options available and advised that separate friers/work surfaces were used to prepare the food. Would definitely recommend to others who have allergies/intolerances or other food requirements such as ours 👍🏼 food was lovely for all of us and my girls really enjoyed their lunch. Thank you

Everything you would want and expect from a chain family pub. Clean and tidy. Good weekday offers. Good outside play area. Dedicated gluten free menu including starters, mains, burgers, sandwiches and desserts.

I messaged ahead to ask for a table in a nice location with candles. They did exactly that but replaced the candles with some twinkly lights which was nice. The team were very friendly and the service was excellent from all who we had contact with. To top it off, the food was excellent, hot and fresh. We chose the Gammon and a whopping 1500 calorie burger!!!@@ We shared a nice bottle of wine which was reasonably priced too. So, yes, we will go back again in the near future and will look forward to doing so.

Hi just to say been using the Sandpiper for years and its always had great food. But just recently its got a great friendly atmosphere like tonight with Lydia and Lindsey behind the bar and Elouise running around supporting them great food fantastic banter just what a pub needs keep up the good work see you all tomorrow my kinda pub!!

We had booked a table so on arrival we skied which table we where on got shown to table Then ordered a couple of rounds of drinks and proceeded to order out food Surf and Turf and a mixed grill . When I got to the bar to order it she said sorry not got any of the grill menu tonight but had never mentioned it when we got shown to table they had enough chances to say there wasn’t a grill menu as had not had a delivery. We had gone there for a steak meal there was nothing we fancied on the classics menu . So left if they had said there was no grill menu when we arrived we wouldn’t have bought drinks . Poor service and rude staff will not be back

Called in for an evening meal as a treat. Both myself and wife opted for the surf and turf, with the steak to be cooked rare. The food arrived quickly and was hot. The steak was cooked just about right, still being very pink in the middle. The beer was spot on, the service was great and the atmosphere in the pub made for a lovely evening. This is good honest pub food done very well, Thank You. I'd recommend this pub to anyone looking for a nice meal and there is plenty of space for the young kids to also enjoy themselves.
