The service here is amazing, super helpful and friendly and I can highly recommend the Yorkshire Fatties. We bought some last year on our holiday to Whitby, we have been back this week on holiday and have bought some more. I pre-ordered 8 to bring home too 🙂 I would highly recommend you visit if you are in Whitby.

One of the main reasons we keep coming back to whitby every year is our love for small Independent businesses. Whitby has some amazing little shops and one of our absolute favourites is Sandgate coffee and delights for super delicious homebaked goods to enjoy after a spot of tea :) the traditional cakes are to die for and very reasonable in price! I would highly recommend to anyone visiting

An amazing little shop! The lovely lady who runs it goes above and beyond. We went in late on Thursday afternoon, and ordered a few things. She said she had sold out of most things, but if we went back early the next morning we could get other bits. Unfortunately we were busy on the Friday, but she said if I paid for the items she would put them aside for me to collect when I could on Friday. Unfortunately Friday turned out to be a busy day, and I didn’t get there until just before closing. But the lady had stayed open just for me to return! She goes above and beyond. The products are also delicious!

We visited initially to buy some Fatties and then returned later in the day for tea in the cafe. The owner was most welcoming and friendly. We chatted about the window display of knitted toys. These are sold to raise funds for the Head and Neck Cancer Department of the local hospital, a cause very close to the owners' hearts. Came across this amazing place while wondering around Whitby. We fancied a coffee and as we peeked in saw the steps to the upstairs. We asked if there were any seats available and to our surprise there were. We were led up a few steps to the small cafe and seated by a love young lady. On our way through we spied the ice creams! Oh decisions decisions. But as we were on a day out we could have whatever we wanted. So a Latte and a Cappuccino please, arrived in lovely cups that we later found out by the owner are from a collection by a lady inspired by canal boats. Her other merchandise is displayed in the cafe to buy. Other gift are too. So is it wrong to have ice cream while drinking coffee? I don’t think so. So a vanilla and a cherry ice cream cone was added to our bill. And they were delicious. The scones looked so too that we saw being send downstairs from the bakery the floor above made by the husband of the lady who looked after us. He bakes everything else or they both do I think. Topped up our coffee with extra milk. So friendly, staff very good. Not rushed out.

We had heard just how lovely this little cafe is and we were not disappointed. It was closed the day before - had to go elsewhere - so I rang before going again. Helen, the owner, asked when we’d be arriving and made sure we’d have a table. What a lovely thing to do, especially on a busy bank holiday weekend. We were spoiled for choice and my hubby went for the chocolate topped flapjack, I had the coffee cake and my two daughters had chocolate cake with ice cream. The cakes were outstanding. Mark, the baker, is seriously good at his job! My daughters are so hard to please and they said the chocolate cake was about the best they’d ever had!! Nothing was too much trouble. We were asked if we had enough of everything - including top ups of drinks. I loved the massive pot of tea! We will definitely return. Helen and her staff made you feel like friends. What a lovely place. Very reasonably priced too. Oh and they sold locally made ice cream too. Couldn’t help noticing the raspberry cheesecake flavour. Next time I might just have to give that a try .....

Third year in a row we have visited and yet again, the Whitby Fattie from here reigns supreme! Lovely to see Helen again this year, despite her challenging 6 months, the welcome was warmer than ever. Our 8 year old tucked in and claimed their speciality 'the best'. Fabulous personalised service, this small business deserves all the great reviews and support. Helen and Mark, you really are the masters of the Whitby Fattie!!

Visited this tranquil haven on a very busy Saturday afternoon and what a find. The staff were so welcoming and the tea an ' rascles' warm from the oven were amazing. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

This wonderful little cafe is a must visit full of gorgeous gifts and delicious cakes the home of the now renamed Whitby fatties. Try the cream tea. The welcome is so warm only our second visit in 12 months and the owner remembered us, how nice! Visit this cafe/takeaway you'll not be disappointed...

Definitely a place to stop if you want an original Whitby scone. Even though the place is small, the restaurant owners and staff are the best. They love their business and it shows. The “Whitby Fatties” scones are huge and delicious. They are also priced very well so pick up more than one.

Great customer service, v. friendly. Also the most delicious home baked Bakewell Slices, we took ours away. Such a lovely quaint place too. Highly recommended.

We wanted a quaint local coffee shop for a scone and a drink and this place was highly recommended on trip advisor so we decided to give it a go. We weren't disappointed, we were lucky enough to be there when the small seating area was open so we got to sit down and have a cream tea. As standard they come and top up the hot water on your tea pots and will keep doing that as many times as you like and the scones were massive. All the cakes are freshly made on the premises with locally sourced produce and the owner was really lovely. We will be telling all our friends to come here.

Called here for a cuppa and a sit down whilst walking round Whitby. Thought the service was very good and the cuppa along with a scone was very good. Well worth a visit.

We had dinner here on the 20th September and really couldn't fault it. We had 3 courses, trying 6 of the dishes on the menu along with bread and butter and an amuse-bouche, and all were delicious. Many of the ingredients are locally sourced, this means that the menu is always evolving depending on what is in season and available at the time. The service was excellent. We can't wait to return and hopefully pair our next meal with an overnight stay.

We accidently discovered this cafe while hunting around Whitby for something more "homely". The staff were very accommodating for our party of 7. They ensured we got seated and looked after us all the step of the way. The food was plentiful, tasty, and very reasonably priced. There was a good selection that suited both adults and children. If you want to avoid the mass of marauding tourists and seaguls. Take a stroll up the hill to Stokers.
