Had a family birthday meal here, party of 30, food as always excellent, well organised service by Emily, everyone enjoyed their meal and cant wait to return, thankyou team San Marino for making my birthday meal so special..x

What an absolute shame - love the place and the food but the service today was horrendous and unacceptable. I appreciate Saturdays can be busy and our table wasn't ready for when we booked it - fine. But when we finally got shown to the table we were ignored for half an hour before anyone came to ask about food. Our table wobbled but it took three attempts to speak with different people for someone to come up with a beer mat to fix the problem. When the food arrived I asked for Parmesan but had to ask another few times whilst my food was going cold to finally get any. Pointless trying to order any drinks as we were not important - then we got charged for two starters each (the same one twice) and when we questioned it, was asked 'are you sure you both didn't have two of the starters'????!!!! Yeah of course we did and seven of the mains too - this service is not what we have ever experienced before, what a shame

Sunday evening. Like a works canteen. Large parties, shouting, rowdy, poor service, missed items, wrong bill, no apparent manager, youngsters looked lost. So many better places.

Very poor experience from start to finish..starter of small 6 escargots with one missing for £8.95!!! Calzone with little filling and over powered with chilli and an extremely tasteless tiramasu for desert with barely any masala wine if any 😪

I came with 4 of my friends tonight - Monday 19th August 2024. We used to really enjoy eating here, but what a disappointment 😞. We had to wait for everything - drinks, food, coffees. The food was nothing special, and 1 lady couldn't eat her lamb as it was so tough, and she'd waited longer than everyone else. When ordering hot drinks - no decaf tea, no alternative to regular milk. All in all, not a good experience, and it wasn't cheap. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Came for a birthday meal with family, really nice location and tasty food. Both young waitresses called Amelia were fantastic and worked so hard tending to us and others. The only negative I would say about our evening was that it was Saturday evening and it was absolutely packed out therefore we didn't receive the same attention as you would probably get on a quieter night (nobody asking if your meal is okay or bringing parmesan over without being prompted or even asking if we needed another drink when glasses were empty) this is not the fault from waiters and waitresses as they were rushed off their feet and once asked promptly brought it over more due to how busy it was.

Great food and good prices , service was incredible!! Valerio was our waiter and he couldn’t do enough for us!! Polite staff, good selection of food choices even on the deals menu !!

Fantastic meal for my daughters birthday the food was great and good value for money with the offer, the waiter looked after us all evening and kept us entertained and made the evening that little bit special thanks again 😀 xx

We had a fab meal for our anniversary. The food was excellent and the staff were very attentive. My husband had the chicken livers which he said were delicious. The market menu is still such good value and the chef they have is top notch.

The food here is excellent, there is a varied menu of really lovely food, we came for a late lunch, seafood platter was excellent and my steak with lobster was cooked perfectly, we have never had a bad meal or service without a smile. Nick and the team do a excellent job, this place usually is very busy but they are organised and service has always been good, we will be back for plenty more of the delicious food that is served here..

A horrible night weather wise but the journey was well worth it for a wonderful meal in delightful surroundings. We chose the three course menu and if even a tad expensive compared to other restaurants we could not complain about anything that was served and left absolutely satisfied. Will be returning soon and would certainly recommend.

My wife and I made a reservation for 1800hrs on a Saturday, I am glad we did as this is a very popular restaurant. Located in a very picturesque moorland setting just outside the village of Belmont, plenty of car parking space at the rear as well as at the side. Welcoming front of house staff, as the location is very popular with families and couples alike we were helpfully offered the opportunity to sit in a quieter area. Staff courteous and amenable. Extensive range of choices on menu, both of us opted for the King Prawn Picante as a starter, we were not disappointed, very tasty!! My Wife chose a sirloin steak with a pepper sauce, whilst I chose the Pollo Pepe with an extra order of slim fries to mop up any of the surplus delicious sauce, it would be rude not to! Food arrive promptly, was hot and very well presented.Good portion size. For dessert I chose the Tiramisu, my wife a double Courvoisier brandy Had a wonderful evening, this was our first visit but I can say without hesitation it will not be our last. Concluded the evening with a moorland drive as the sun set.

This is a large Italian restaurant and although some way out of town it has a good following. We booked at short notice and early in the evening. The menu was what you might expect with a good range of Italian dishes and a few 'English' too. It might have benefited from a few more salad and vegetarian options. It is a large building and maybe as a consequence, for us, lacked a little atmosphere, but great if you are a bigger group or attending an event. The food was excellent and well-presented.

Booked here for 15 people for my daughters 18th, the service and the food was excellent, we all had 3 courses each, and I honestly can't fault anything. Thank you to all the staff, you are amazing. we will all definitely return.

So lovely to spend an evening at San Marino. Fabulous food and excellent service - Nick and his staff were extremely helpful, the service was wonderful and the ambiance was great too! The food definitely lived up to our expectations. Overall, this was an incredible dining experience and we would highly recommend. Thanks again for a wonderful dinner!

We chose San Marinos for our daughter's 18th birthday celebration. And what a great choice it was. There were 12 of us of very varying ages and the menu was perfect for everyone to find something they would enjoy. And enjoy the food we did. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented with good sized portions. There was no rush and the staff were great. They brought in the birthday cake we brought and joined in the singing - although there were a few suspicious notes in there 😂 Head chef came out and agreed to divi up the cake for us. The birthday girl was thoroughly thrilled to bits with her day there. A big thank you so much to all the staff for making it a memorable time

We were passing and needed a place to eat. Received a warm welcome on entering. Staff were attentive, food very hot and quickly served. Didnt feel rushed. Clean. Atmosphere just right. Food perfect 5* Very happy and both really enjoyed the food. Only 10 mile from home so will be back for my birthday with the rest of the family. Thank you

We come all the time and It never disappoints! Tonight we had rib eye steak (husband is a butcher so it had to be good ) and I had the fish platter and both was exceptional. Staff are fantastic. Chatty ,helpful . Go above band beyond.

There are some places you go just to eat and enjoy and then a few that you go to and you know you will really enjoy. This is one of the latter. We went as part of a group of friends and we certainly weren’t disappointed. We chose the 3 course menu and everyone cleared their plates. If you’ve not tried this place then all I can say is that you are missing out.

Visited with a group for a family celebration. I have various allergies and food intolerances (dairy free, pescatarian, allergic to shellfish and potatoes) so emailed the restaurant via the website a few days ahead of the visit to see what I could eat and avoid 'making a fuss' on the evening. From what I could see online, I would be limited to one of two risotto dishes from the whole of the menu - not very exciting food after a near 300 mile drive! I'm still waiting for your reply.

Delicious food and great service. The restaurant is beautiful inside and very clean. I would recommend a visit, the little cafe is also a great place to visit for breakfast.

We visited the restaurant as a family (4 adults) and whilst the food was lovely we wouldn’t return after having continuously rubbish service. We were seated, it wasn’t busy as you’d expect for a Tuesday night but our table was really affected by the freezing temperatures every time someone opened the door so we asked to move to the table behind us where there was a wind break - considering 3/4 of the restaurant was empty I’d assume this would be a simple ‘yes’ but instead our server had to check with 2 people by which time we had moved ourselves because it was freezing. We ordered drinks and the waiter (gave his name as Giro but not sure if that’s correct) came over. I wanted to ask some questions about the menu and there was some difficulty in me understanding what he was saying, because I’m partially hard hearing and when I asked him to repeat himself he rolled his eyes at me. When he came back to take our order I was trying to pronounce the items on the menu and as I’ve done in plenty of other restaurants I asked how to pronounce my dish, he very abruptly just kept saying back to me you want the goats cheese, I said yes but I’d like to know how to pronounce it again he repeated goats cheese and rolled his eyes. After clearing our starter the waitress asked if we wanted the dessert menu, she was polite so I said we will but wanted our main first. The mains arrived and Giro was very abrupt in telling us what he had in his hands. He then told my dad off for holding his plate when he told him it was hot, but he didn’t mean the plate was hot he meant the dish on top - he then told my dad he wasn’t stupid and was telling him not to touch it - again his tone, choice of words and attitude was aggressive at this point I was desperate to just get up and walk out after asking a chat with a manager, but having driven from Dorset for this family catch up I decided to stay. After dinner we ordered another round of drinks, by this time we were the only table left in the restaurant still dining and there were 5+ staff around. The drinks took 15 minutes and a reminder to reach us. Giro then placed every drink infront of the wrong person intentionally as we had the same drink glasses in front of us, one beer, two cokes and a water - not difficult to figure out and if he was confused he cold have said what he had on the tray and we would have helped him. The food was good, we had the 3 course deal but wouldn’t recommend this restaurant based on the service and particularly the attitude of that one waiter - I’m not sure if he was just having a bad night, or if he is just too rude for a hospitality role but if I wanted that kind of service we would have gone to Karen’s

I had a lovely visit to the restaurant on Wednesday evening and the market menu is still amazing and great value and the staff are very friendly and helpful. When looking for my driving licence the day after I realised I had lost my purse. After checking at home and in my car I thought I had better ring the restaurant. I was told immediately they had found my purse. I was so grateful and relieved to have found some honest people. Thank you San Marino staff.

Had a very enjoyable meal at San Marino with 3 other ladies on Monday evening. Unfortunately, Anne, one of our group, felt unwell and collapsed in the reception area. Nick, the manager, was absolutely brilliant! He was calm and very kind and attentive whilst instructing staff and ensuring first aid procedures were implemented. He arranged for an ambulance and monitored her heart rate whilst waiting for the paramedics to arrive. Anne was taken to the hospital and happily discharged the following day, none the worse for her experience and full of praise for Nick and his team!

We have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed the food and the great service. Tonight was a different story. We arrived early at 6.20pm our table wasn’t till 6.45pm, so headed to the bar for a drink which was packed! Two drinks later and we were still waiting for our table, so it took 3 of us in turn to find out what was going on. Having waited 40 mins we were eventually shown to our table. Not impressed ! We ordered our food which didn’t take to long to be be fair. My husband’s arrived but he’d ordered the wrong thing and although it was his fault, they soon rectified the order. But I was not Impressed with the rude waiter who came over to point out that my husband had ordered the wrong dish, extremely unprofessional! On our departure the manager I feel wasn’t sincere in his apology. All in all I will NOT be rushing back ! Tonight looked like they’d over booked! Therefore not being able to dedicate their full personal attention to their customers, which certainly showed.

Food nice enough but unfortunately teenage waiting staff have no idea how to speak to customersMembers of staff arm wrestling each other in the bar is not a good look.And to end it all we ordered a glass of red wine and got charged for a full bottle.We used to frequent pretty often but things need to seriously improve front of house before we will be back

Been here a few times, refurbish looks great! Food was good as usual however, carbonara had a lot of oil. Couldn't finish it as it was off putting and made the sauce go bad as well.

The food has sadly gone down hill, two of our starter dishes on our takeaway should not have been allowed to leave the kitchen. Really disappointing as used to be our go-to restaurant. There is also a shocking amount of rubbish littered around the restaurant, which looks to be blowing into adjacent fields. Pizza boxes and takeaway cartons, beer cans and plastic bottles. Perhaps the restaurant should consider providing a bin to encourage their customers to dispose of their takeaway rubbish responsibly? Such as shame as used to be a beautiful place to sit and have a drink, now ruined by unsightly litter.

Just had a great take away from here. Ordered online which was quick and easy. Was ready for the time I specified, felt Covid safe there was only me in on the time slot, hand sanitizer on entry, the person I dealt with maintained a distance and was wearing a mask as was I, all in all friendly efficient service. The food was lovely and we really enjoyed it we will definitely be back for takeaway and to eat in once the restrictions are eased.

Took partner there for the first time the service was excellent and the food was excellent would definitely go again 3 course meal for two under £60 was good value aswell

Had a fantastic 3 course meal here yesterday evening. I was with a friend so we had 6 different dishes between us. Every single plate of food was delicious. They have a very good range of posh pop for those who want it. The manager was very welcoming and attentive as were all the staff. However the best amongst them was Harry who was working in the bar and serving the tables. Very attentive, courteous, friendly and helpful. It is definitely worth a visit. The outside space has beautiful views.

The staff are so friendly and ensure that you have everything you need. We had an aubergine starter to share which was really tasty and big enough for two, lamb kebabs which were really tender and a brûlée that was so good. Even when the restaurant is full the service is perfect. Definitely recommend San Marino for, food, customer service, location and all round great restaurant.

We always use to love San Marino’s but it took a dip with both food and service so we haven’t been for a while . We decided to give it another go for the ‘Eat out to help out deal ‘ The restaurant was extremely busy,this didn’t stop us receiving excellent service . The food was delicious the best we’ve had here . Well done to all staff.,We will return again .

This was the first time we had eaten here, it had been recommended, however... the food was below average and we were really disappointed. The staff were lovely, the surrounding area is lovely, however the internal restaurant is dated and could do with a good clean, our table had copious amounts of cardboard under it to keep it level (which did not work). To start we had the spicy garlic bread (lovely) and Italian antipasto (poor presentation and below average). For main we had the venison with cream sauce (lovely) and the lamb souvlaki (dreadful), the lamb was overcooked and full of gristle, the pitta bread was actually a nann bread and the lemon rice hadn’t seen a lemon and appeared to be microwave rice. The desserts were again below average, the tiramisu did not have a lot of flavour and tasted like a cheap shop brand, the lemon meringue pie tasted of sugar and nothing else. The red wine was lovely. The management handled the issue with the lamb main course well and knocked this meal off of the bill.We were overall bitterly disappointed and felt it was very much style over substance, we would not go back and would not recommend this to friends. The restaurant does not demonstrate quality authentic homemade food from what we experienced.

Returned after a long time away due too poor visits over 12 months ago, weather was wonderful so sat outside, views were excellent, beer was very good service was fair.We only ordered one item of food, garlic bread with salmon & cheese and yes the order was incorrect when it arrived = no salmon, so it went away and back into the oven with some salmon on it = not impressed! Spoke to the manager on leaving who listened and acted professionally in the situation. If he had not listened the 4 stars would have been far less. I hear people having great visits but this does not transcribe with me, I will give it another go so I am being fair.

Always good food, always good service. If you don’t enjoy it there’s something wrong with you. Nick the manager is excellent, friendly and very professional. If your looking for a high end, classy restaurant in Bolton that isn’t too expensive (£16 for a 3 course meal with big portions) then this is your best bet.

Whilst out for a drive , we came across the San Marino . The whole experience was first class from start to finish . A warm welcome , excellent food , brilliant friendly service and a very competitive price . We will definitely return . Ian and Tracey

Enjoyed a couple of takeaway meals from here to tide us over through lockdown, very excited to visit on reopening.All social distancing measures were in place, everything well organised and spotlessly clean.We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Ten of us (two tables) enjoyed their meals, starters mains & desserts - was all absolutely delicious. The staff were tremendous, so welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. I mentioned to my husband I would have preferred mash potato with my Lamb and within five minutes a side of mash arrived. We ordered a takeaway pizza when we asked for the bill to take home for the kids to share, not realising the kitchen had closed - again the team went above and beyond to accommodate us.Special thanks to Nick for looking after us so well. Already looking forwards to our next visit.

We were greeted by Nick the manager and quickly showed us to our table. It was very busy and had a great atmosphere.We ordered our drinks ( bottle of very nice Malbec he recommended.Within a few minutes the waiter come over and took our starter and main course orders.They have a very good extensive menu with vegetarian optionsThe starters arrived very quickly as it was very cold and a little snow out side we decided to order soup of the day with bread, fresh garlic bread, it was lovely and soft.As soon as we finished our starters they cleared the table and brought over our main courses again very nice.The service was very good with attention to detail.We also decided to Order a desert to share as we were quite full.We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and are looking forward to going there again soon.I would be very happy to recommend it to anyone to give it a try and experience the food, service and atmosphere.

Lovely food and very good value. Staff and Manager were all very attentive, however, our evening turned very sour when some imbecile who worked there started to shout unnecessarily at the girl members of staff - this made everyone around us feel very uncomfortable. This was so unprofessional and we asked one of the staff his name and she said it was something along the lines of Carminy. Shame as this spoilt our evening and we won’t be rushing back to a place where staff are disrespected.

Been here lots of times and love it, four of us visited on Halloween and the only decent meal was the fillet, the 3 pasta dishes were all poor. Told the waitress when she collected the uneaten food and she said she would pass our comments on to the chef the new manager didn’t come back to our table! We were going to book for family Christmas Day but decided we didn’t want to chance it after this experience. However we did book to visit as a couple the Friday before Christmas. The chap in charge at Halloween wasn’t there. Enzo always made you feel very welcome and was a wonderful host the new managers were very busy with Christmas parties but with plenty of staff on service was ok. Couple of items not available but at least you were made aware of this when given the menu, personally I don’t have a problem with the restaurant running out of items it generally means what you are having is fresh. However, what was unforgivable was no Mint so no Mojito My fillet was a little over medium but was delicious my husband’s Ribeye was beautifully cooked but tiny! Overall we had a good evening, Lucy our waitress is lovely and Nick’s still there to look after you. Will revisit in January and see what food is like when quieter.

Went on our works Christmas do and everything was brilliant the staff were fantastic and the food equally as good. Being in the same trade myself I would highly recommend this place - enjoy.

I really wanted this to be a good review, I've been going to san marino for years it's always been the place we go for family parties/get togethers and we've always had nothing but praise for the staff and food, however our recent visit was nothing but appalling. To start with we were greeted by a quite rude man who apparently was in charge, the staff seemed to have changed quite dramatically, eventually got our order taken by a very polite young man who was very friendly and professional(didn't manage to catch his name), however half of what we ordered wasn't actually available. Food came, average to say the least. Nobody came to clear our mains plates so didn't bother with dessert and went over to the bar for a drink. We were greeted by some very pleasant staff and enjoyed our drinks. We had a few more issues however, the toilets honestly were the worst I've seen in a restaurant, the place was overall a bit worn and dirty. The bar area was quite messy also, however I understand it is a weekend and expected, as the bar staff were very busy.To sum up, I will still return in the hope this was an off day or teething problems for the new staff, and I really do wish them well. I'm hoping this is Used as constructive criticism as I do really love the place!

Came 11th November. Had the lamb Henry. My partner has the fish pancakes. Delicious! Absolutely delicious to the last bite. The chef came out and talked us through his cooking... The waiting staff were fabulous. Like old friends. Will definitely be back.

Decided to re visit after a while, heard it had a new ownerI write this for the new owner so it is up to him should he decide to read this review.Used the restaurant for over 10 years going at the beginning more than 3 times a month, now your lucky if it is 3 times a year, sadly the last owner in my opinion was not right or customer friendly. Went for the set menu on Sunday late afternoon no booking made, very nice greeting, bar area and drinks excellent, service throughout very good, the restaurant was very busy which must mean the restaurant is doing well but we see it only as 3 stars.Why 3 stars, same old menu, same old furniture, walls have food splash marks on them, you can’t change things just for me, but sadly the visit did nothing to entice my wife and I back, starters were very good main meal average, dessert average, let me elaborate Beef on Sunday roast tough, chicken pollo butterflied, pastry on chocolate tart hardSadly we won’t be rushing back, we wish you well but we won’t put up with average

Yesterday evening we visited San Marino for my brother's birthday meal. From the moment we walked in the building, the service was exceptional, especially from Nick. We sat in the bar area whilst waiting for our table, there was a very friendly girl serving and she went out of her way to assist us with drinks and made a fantastic Amaretto Sour. Once sat, we all ordered from the set menu which is unbelievable value for money... 3 course for £15.95 and the portions sizes are just right! The menu is extensive with lots of vegetarian options, the food was so delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely be visiting again and recommending to family and friends.

to be honest I was looking forward to going here as it always seems to be busy and is one of the most popular places in the area.

Arrived at 4pm only 2 other tables with customers , plenty of young staff but not well trained in manners, starters didnt come together as 1 came after rest had finished , seafood rissoto full of broken shells a d 2 steaks should have been medium but were well done and tough.took 20mins to get the bill after asking.

My favourite restaurant, excellent value for money, excellent food, excellent staff. We had a family meal for my Daughters 21st and everything about the restraint made it special Will definitely be coming back and would definitely recommend 😊

The staff are very friendly, but this didn't make up for the hit and miss food. The first time we went I enjoyed my meal very much, as did the rest of the party. Unfortunately, we were sat right next to the kitchen and it was extremely noisy. We spent the night shouting across the big round table. So, thought to ask for a quieter table the next time we went. The menu had changed and while my meal was very nice, some of the other meals had parts missing (chicken on a bed of tomatoes, without tomatoes anyone?) and wasn't so nice. It was still really noisy. Looking at the layout, it became obvious that the acoustics in the place bounced sound everywhere. It mustn't bother other people as the place was full. The staff were friendly, though a bit distracted as it was very busy and this did impact on the service somewhat. Excellent choices though for vegetarians and even vegans.

I have been here several times and think it’s only fair to leave a review. This place is fabulous, the staff are wonderful, the food is excellent. It is in the middle of nowhere with, fabulous views of the countryside. We were a party of six adults and two children. The food was plentiful, even the children’s portions are huge. They really look after you and make sure that you are happy with everything. If you only go once, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. The food is first class, it is very very well presented and very tasty.

Been tonight for dinner with my husband and mother in law and we have had a lovely time. Our food was excellent paella and risotto were outstanding and meatballs tasty. Service good with pleasant staff nice comfy setting. Al in all 10/10 thank you

Excellent value for money with the 3 course meal deal. The portions are generous and there is good choice for vegetarians. Really tasty food. Nice decor and atmosphere and the waiters/waitresses were super friendly. Would definitely go again.

Arrived for Sunday late lunch, the food was ok but nothing to write home about. The service was poor to say the least, no one asked if the food was ok and it felt like they were doing us a favour. Lacklustre, we won't be returning.

on a sunday night me and my family ordered food , and we didint quite enjoy the food .. pastas were ok but sadly weve had some chicken .. and my partner had her chicken raw .. and ive had my stake ordered as medium well and i get a rare ?? verry dissapointing ..

This is the second time through circumstance we have ended up ringing and booking at such short notice and the staff are nothing but accommodating! We arrived early sat evening party of 7 with children and the food and service was great. The staff and even chefs are just so happy and smiley when taking my toddler for a wander because he didn’t want to sit in his chair. Brilliant place, family friendly and absolutely would come back again and again. Lovely menu too such a wide range of food to suit all tastes. Thank you! The scouser!

Family meal with last minute planning. The meal was very good and a good price also. I've been to some restaurants and paid more for food that wasn't as nice as this so I a pleasant surprise. We were all pleased with the food and the service, The place itself was busy with a good atmosphere, well worth the trip and we will no doubt go again.

Booked dinner for early evening on Sunday party of 11 we found the place still very busy after their earlier Sunday carvery not a problem taken to our table by a still smiling hard working member of staff. No complaints with food we did order after being told what they had run out of and no longer on the menu.Food is excellent for what they charge but big downside the service though diabolical.

It's been 2 or 3 years since our last visit but after our visit last night we vowed to make it more often. We arrived early for our booking so that we could have a drink in the bar area first - we were given our table number on arrival so that we could add the drinks to the total bill, nice touch. The food was absolutely delicious and reminded us of what we've been missing. My polle pepe was amazing and husbands paella was filled with a lovely mixture of seafood. The hoummous was the best we've ever tasted. It was a busy night, so a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were attentive and friendly.

Me and the missus called here for a quick pizza early evening one Saturday, hadn't booked but we were accommodated no problem. This is the third time we have been as we live quite local and the food and service has always been very good. Great pizzas and a lovely place. Excellent.

Third visit now and this time for my Birthday. Fantastic night had by all and once again my favourite Fillet Steak didn't disappoint. The staff helped make my night a memorable one and as always served us all with a laugh and a smile. Thanks from everybody, we had a really good night and we will see you again soon.

There is slow service and there is San Marino. The food was OK to nice, usually nice. But my god, their service is SLOW!!! Sat at our table (of four people) at 5.30pm and left at 8.50pm. Do not go if you don't have the whole night to wait. If we were a bigger table we may still be there. Customer service was lacking too, waitresses and waiters don't smile on the whole and don't engage in chat.

Came to San Marino for a meal and was met with very friendly and helpful staff at the bar, ebony and nick, who couldn’t do more for us. Ordered a garlic bread to start while we waited to order and for the food to be made, that’s when the experience went down hill. Our waiter, a bald man with glasses and stubble (didn’t manage to get his name and I severely hope he hasn’t taken over from Enzo). He had a bad attitude and made us feel quite uncomfortable constantly staring over and very clearly making comments about our party, had no intention of hiding it. His personal hygiene was horrendous as well as he walked around smelling foul, which was even more off putting. After having that to deal with, the food arrived and it just wasn’t what it once was, not sure if the kitchen staff has changed but the quality of food has drastically dropped, I heard similar comments from friends and family before coming but this establishment has always been absolutely amazing so refused to believe, such a shame to experience it ourselves and it will seriously affect future considerations to come here.

22 of us were pre booked for a birthday celebration on a busy Friday evening. As we all walked through the restaurant the atmosphere was buzzing, tables were full and you could see that people were enjoying themselves.

Been here many times in the past as we only live down the road. Would have always given a 5/5, but on this occasion left feeling a little wanting.

We came here for a meal on fathers day and were really impressed. The 3 course set menu, available everyday apart from Saturday, is excellent value and so much choice, unlike some set menus at other places which are very restrictive. The food tasted delightful and the service was really good. As we have just moved down the road was also happy to see the 25% off for takeaways. We will be back very soon!

Visited last night. Busy night with College leavers but managed to squeeze us in. I had a king prawn and chilli starter which was really nice and my wife enjoyed king prawn with Cinzano. Both had steaks one with a masala sauce and the other with a Gorgonzola, avocado and bacon sauce - both delicious and well cooked medium steaks. I’d prefer to have my sauce on side rather than all over but in fairness I didn’t ask so you get as chef prepares. I’m sure if I asked it could have been catered for. Service attentive and polite and helpful and a nice buzz. Very good without being excellent. No complaints and off this visit would recommend.

My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary. We had a lovely meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The service was excellent.

Lovely meal out on Sunday afternoon. 4 of us had 3 courses, couple of drinks prior to meal and a bottle of wine, coffees, which came to around 140.00, which was very reasonable.

Visited three times now, choosing three courses from the Market Menu. Excellent value, food delicious, staff friendly, restaurant great. Recommended.

We were privileged to attend a wedding at San Marino, with over 100 in attendance the food and service were faultless. For the main meal, there was an excellent choice, it was served table by table piping hot and efficiently. Later in the evening, there was a very varied, very tasty collection of food served as a buffet, again all delivered piping hot and fresh, it seemed to keep coming until all were satisfied. Throughout the day the staff were, engaged, attentive and good-humored all making for a great event. I could not recommend this venue more highly.

San Marino is mine and my wife's favourite restaurant. We've never failed to be impressed by the food or the service; so we decided to book our wedding here. Not your average wedding venue so thought we were taking a bit of a risk. How wrong we were proven. The venue was perfect for our wedding with 100 guests, intimate and sociable venue. The food was genuinely out of this world, every guest was blown away by the quality of all 3 courses, "The best wedding food I've ever had", "couldn't believe they served 100 main courses and all came out piping hot". The evening buffet was equally impressive, a Mediterranean feast!!

Currently sat in here finishing off my wine after an AMAZING meal I had the carbonara with a cheesy garlic bread on the side, the portions are massive and taste beautifu! I then the chocolate fondant as dessert they where to die for. This place will become a hit with widnes definitely my new go to place, beautiful food and amazing staff that care for your every need that are passionate about there job. This place is a credit to the owner so my advice is get down here and try the food you WONT be disappointed!

Haven't eaten here in a long, long time so decided to take some friends along recently. The food was good. The service was very slow. Thought that maybe we were just unlucky on that occasion so visited again last week, just two of us this time. Had booked a table for 7pm. It was busy when we arrived and we were asked to wait in the bar. The bar was busy and there was only 1 person serving so thought we would wait as we expected to be shown to our table fairly soon. Wrong!!! Eventually decided that maybe we should join the queue at the bar and get some drinks.

Went here to celebrate our friends 50th birthday. We were a little cramped for space but it was nice.

Very disappointed with the level of service at San Marino’s. We had to wait 40 minutes in the bar for our pre booked table and had to ask a member of staff if our table was ready, then we had to ask for menus. The drinks and starters arrived quite quickly only to be sat waiting for another hour for our mains. Not once were we asked if we wanted another drink or anything and we were completely ignored...We decided to order ice cream for desert as it would be quick or so we thought only to be waiting another 25 minutes so decided to pay and leave without it!!

Service was really patchy, young staff didn’t really know what they were doing, items had to be chased.

We visited San Marino for a leisurely lunch in the sun with my friends. After being the first customers to arrive in the restaurant at approximately 13:02pm, we were greeted by a relatively average man. We ordered our food and sat outside. We paid when we ordered as that was the policy.... I now know why!

Made my first visit to San Marino with family and was very impressed with both the service and food. Love the rustic decor of the restaurant and would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Myself and my friend booked for a meal to celebrate her birthday. I haven't been here for years, well before it became San Marino, but have heard some great reviews from friends, so decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did.

What can I say other than “bring back Giuseppe and Matt”..

We visited as a party of 12, we ordered 3 bottles of wine to have in the bar, which arrived but without glasses... we asked for glasses twice and eventually a tray of Gin glasses arrived (they had run out of wine glasses) we were seated in a basement on a long table (that was made up of several little tables) with one end blocking the fire door. We all had to shuffle along the back wall to get too a chair and if the person first in wanted the loo they had to ask five others let them out !!! Once again there were no wine glasses on the table... i felt sorry for the staff as they were bringing odd glasses as soon as they became available ... we asked for jugs of water, and the glasses that came with the water were just like jam jars ... the menu was very varied ... and the food was moderate ... we wont be visiting again in a hurry ....

It is a good place to have a meal. Whenever My husband and I had a visit from the boys, we always try to take them to this restaurant.

Visited last week as a group booking, great service and lovely food. Only thing that was a negative were the drinks are expensive! Will visit again.
